Warhammer: Angron Training Manual
Chapter 7 The Primarch's Talent
Chapter 7 The Primarch's Talent
In the corner, Angron sat alone, eating in silence.
There was not even a stone to sit on.
Angron sat on the ground, curled up with his knees drawn up to his chest, one hand holding his legs, and with the other holding a glass of water, he washed down the bread in his mouth with water.
Although he was in no mood to taste the food, Angron still lowered his head and tasted the bread in his mouth, because it was a new taste for him.
This might be the only good thing about the Colosseum, compared to the mountains.
Compared to the animal meat and plants mixed with colorful blood, at least the bread in your mouth is still a processed food.
After finishing the bread in his mouth, Angron looked up at Ono.
"No more." Ono shook his head. "We will fast for two days, and then we will have a good meal before the fight. Maggot Eye will broadcast our eating experience live then."
Angron bowed his head.
After eating, the Primarch entered a calm state, but when he calmed down, his perception of his surroundings became stronger.
Pain, resentment, desire for freedom... these new emotions emerged in Angron's feelings.
He doesn't like to interact with people because when he does, he will have these emotional feelings, and he, who has never received any education, doesn't know how to deal with these emotions.
Qin Xia had no idea what Angron was feeling at the moment, he just stared at the Primarch.
In the fight called Devil's Tears just now, Qin Xia paid attention to Angron, and then found that joy appeared on Angron's face the moment after his victory.
Then the joy on his face disappeared, replaced by Angron's bewildered expression.
Obviously, he himself didn't know why he felt sudden joy amid the overwhelming cheers and after a brutal killing.
Those were not Angron's own emotions, but those of the audience.
The future of this Primarch is a bloodthirsty and cruel murderer, but now he is not.
Each Primarch had a gift, and Angron's gift was that he could sense and absorb the emotions of others.
But judging from Angron's current state, this talent is a curse to him.
"How did you learn the language of Nuceria?"
When Angron felt overwhelmed by the negative emotions of all the gladiators in the cave, the sudden question was like pulling him out of the sea and diverting his attention.
The Primarch raised his head and saw Qin Xia, who had been staring at him, walked over and sat next to him.
Angron noticed Qin Xia's gaze, but he didn't know why this person was paying attention to him.
“I don’t know…” Angron shook his head. “Maybe it’s because I’ve heard them talk.”
"You are gifted, master of linguistics." Qin Xia smiled and nodded, "Do you realize that you are different from others? Have you ever suspected that you might be a...special creature?"
Angron was silent for a few seconds, then shook his head in confusion: "What's the difference?"
"Nothing." Qin Xia shook his head, "This is good."
"Why did you ask him that? Before he came, you were the unique creature who looked different from the others."
The handsome gladiator who was resting with his eyes closed interrupted.
Qin Xia ignored this and began to judge Angron's psychology.
The Primarchs were all created by the Emperor, so they naturally possessed powerful abilities that ordinary humans did not possess.
Angron's ability to learn the Nuceria language simply by listening to the slave-catchers speak was proof of this.
Such an ability might lead to a Primarch not considering humans as his own kind.
Angron was not stupid, and he should have realized by now that the emotions he felt were not necessarily from himself, so he discovered that other people had emotions like himself and judged them to be of his own kind.
This was good, at least Angron would not mistake himself for a wild beast because of his wild life in the mountains.
After making a judgment, Qin Xia said, "You should know that survival is a biological instinct. What happened in the arena just now was not entirely your fault."
Angron was being eroded by the feelings that had been temporarily dispelled by the diversion of attention just now. When he recalled the previous scene, those emotions such as sadness, anger, fear, and unwillingness rushed over and made him feel painful.
"I killed them." Angron shook his head. "I'm not sure if this is real or an illusion. I feel like I can feel the emotions of each of them. When they were killed by me, when they were killed by others, I felt like I was killed myself." Qin Xia listened to these words and recalled what he had seen about Angron before coming to this universe.
In the future, the World Eaters' think tank Thetis will explore the Primarch's memory, and then Thetis will discover that before the Butcher's Nail was struck, Angron would feel excruciating pain every time he killed a gladiator.
The Butcher's Nail is an implant that, once installed in the brain, will torture the person being implanted all the time, and the person will only feel a little more relaxed when killing.
So after being struck by the butcher's nails, the excruciating pain becomes a temporary relief that satisfies the desire to kill.
Angron obviously felt the same way just now, as he was crying while killing.
“Everyone here has wielded a knife to survive,” Ono said to Angron. “It’s the same outside the arena and in the slums. It feels like a way of getting rid of responsibility and guilt, but most of this killing should be blamed on the slave owners.”
Qin Xia looked at Ono in agreement, and felt that this strong man actually had some philosophical cells.
"I can roughly guess how you feel now. You are very sad." Qin Xia said, "But sadness is a luxury in this situation. You have to learn to deal with those emotions. At least don't let them force you to commit suicide or degenerate."
Angron nodded.
But it was just a perfunctory nod, and Qin Xia did not offer any constructive suggestions, because this was also his first time meeting Angron, and he needed more information to help Angron deal with the problems caused by his own talent.
"Hey, listen."
Qin Xia placed his hand on Angron's sturdy arm and spoke slowly and in a low voice.
"I am a person who likes to acquire knowledge, very, very much."
"Because I used knowledge to change my destiny. When I was a child, I lost my parents and lived in an orphanage. That place was like an arena without fighting. Everyone slept in the same room every night."
“Then I used that knowledge to develop a technique that alone made me a lot of money at a very young age.”
"Then I took out money to improve the environment of the orphanage where I grew up and make it better."
Listening to what Qin Xia said, Angron's eyes were full of curiosity.
He could understand all the meaning of the words, the nouns he had never learned, played their role in the context so that Angron realized the meaning of the nouns themselves.
He had never seen the world outside the mountains and the arena, so he was very interested.
However, after listening to it and thinking for a moment, Angron asked: "I understand that you may want me to learn something through this story...but I really don't know what the connection is between this story and my current situation."
"There is no connection." Qin Xia smiled and shook his head, "I just wanted to say it to show off."
Angron gave a bitter smile.
Ono, who was standing by, lowered his head and raised his hand to cover his mouth.
The handsome gladiator who was resting with his eyes closed not far away laughed.
The other gladiators in the cave, like these two, thought that Qin Xia could say something profound, but they were overwhelmed by this sudden turn of events.
Angron felt the dullness in the cave being broken at that moment, as well as the laughter of others. The negative emotions that had been piling up like a dark cloud over his head briefly dissipated.
"Can't you guys agree with me and praise me?" Qin Xia looked at Ono.
Ono tried hard to make his expression match his bear-like appearance, and nodded: "Very...very impressive, seriously, you are obviously much better than those of us who can't even write."
"So what did you do before?" A gladiator came over and asked curiously, "I don't think someone like you would end up like this."
Another gladiator came up and asked, "Let me guess. You were once a rich man, flying over cities on an anti-gravity Frisbee, until you went bankrupt."
The gladiators all looked at Qin Xia, curious about his past.
Qin Xia's jokes livened up the atmosphere, and his stories about the past aroused everyone's interest, invisibly narrowing the distance between the gladiators scattered throughout the cave.
For some simple people, all it takes to become friends is a word that brings a smile.
But Qin Xia did not continue to speak to satisfy other people's curiosity, and he became serious.
"My past is not important. What's important is that all of us are locked up in this damn place."
"So why can't we gather together, sit on the cold ground and chat together? Even though this damn place is really not comfortable, at least we have each other in the same predicament."
"Then tell me everything you know about the Colosseum, and I will collect some information. This will be beneficial to each of us."
