Chapter 352 The Fate of the Guan Family

"Daughter." Old Mo stretched out his hand, then slumped down. "It's all my fault! I'm useless. If you want to hate someone, hate me!"

"Waaah, old man, is there really no other way? Why don't we go and beg Shen Yi, apologize to him properly, and ask him to be lenient and let us go, okay?" Guan looked at Mo Laotian with pleading eyes.

Old Mo shook his head, looking dejected. "If it weren't for the previous false accusations, perhaps I could have pleaded with them. But now Shen Yi probably hates me to death. Going there would only be humiliating. Why bother?"

Guan wanted to say something more, but Mo Chunxiang angrily interrupted her, "Enough! You know it's impossible, so why are you still saying it? Are you trying to upset me? As long as I find that old hag Niu, I can get the money Xiong Kai left behind, and I'll definitely turn my life around! You just wait and see, I'll make everyone regret it!"

Mo Chunxiang packed her things in a fit of anger and, ignoring Guan's objections, resolutely left Ximen Village in the freezing cold.

Guan cried her heart out and took her anger out on her two daughters-in-law. Huang was protected by Mo Dali, so Guan couldn't do anything about it and turned her anger towards Chen.

He slapped Chen as soon as he arrived at her door.

Chen was already in despair, and Guan's slap completely ignited her hatred.

She coaxed the children into the house, closed the door, and forcefully pulled Guan's hair, dragging her into the kitchen.

Guan was in pain, and she screamed, cursed, and cried for help.

Chen, in a fit of rage, forced her into the water vat.

Guan struggled to lift her head, but she pressed down hard again.

Huang, unable to hear any noise from next door, became suspicious and went to see what was going on, only to faint from fright.

When Mo Dali arrived, Guan was already dead.

With her face half-reddened, Chen stared blankly at the snow, lost in thought.

"Just kill me, I don't want to live anymore anyway, and I can go find the father of my child."

"Second brother's wife, what are you doing? What are you doing? Mother, Mother!" Mo Dali cried bitterly.

Huang slowly woke up in the corner. Seeing Mo Dali in front of her, she finally felt reassured. She staggered forward and asked in a trembling voice, "What happened to her?"

“Dead.” Mo Dali sniffed and choked out.

Huang sat down heavily on the ground, looked around, and quickly came to her senses. "Husband, this matter cannot be publicized. Mother drowned by accident in the water vat. It has nothing to do with the second son's family. Fortunately, the families around us are all out working. As long as you don't say anything, I don't say anything, and the second son's family doesn't say anything, no one will know!"

Mo Dali's eyes flickered, unable to make up his mind.

Huang angrily punched him, "What are you still hesitating about! Those two children have already lost their father, do you want them to lose their mother too? You can't even support your own children, how can you support your second son's children? Besides, if this gets out, who will dare to marry our daughters in the future? Our sons still need to find wives, you have to think about all of this!"
Even a rabbit will bite when cornered! Mother knew perfectly well that things were off with the second son's family today, yet she still insisted on going to their house to bully them. It's all my fault! You'd better make a decision quickly!

Mo Dali gritted his teeth and said, "Go get a mat, I'll carry Mother back, and we'll handle the funeral in the next couple of days."

Huang breathed a sigh of relief and quickly went back to find a tattered mat. After Mo Dali took Guan's body away, Huang went to Chen's side to comfort her and said, "It's alright, it's alright! Everyone should keep this matter to themselves today. No one can say anything. You can go back and take care of the children. I'll go over there and take a look."

Chen burst into tears.

Huang felt a pang of guilt upon hearing this. Besides the reasons mentioned earlier, the more important reason she protected Chen was that Mo Erli had died on the battlefield, and she felt indebted to the second branch of the family.

After Mo Dali brought Guan's body back, Mo Laotian felt his mind go blank.

"Boss, what happened to your mother... what happened to her?" Mo Laotian dared not think too deeply, his eyes already brimming with tears.

Mo Dali placed Guan's body on the firewood and said in a muffled voice, "Father, I just told you that the second son's wife has gone mad. Why have you never taken my words to heart?"

The second son's family is already in such a state, and the mother still went to cause trouble for her. She was forced to stay in a water vat and died.

"Damn it! Damn it! How could she be so cruel! This is her mother-in-law! Ahhh!" Old Mo was heartbroken and full of regret, pounding his chest incessantly.

Mo Dali wiped away her tears. "Father, things have come to this. Just pretend that Mother accidentally fell into the water vat and died!"

"What? Do you have any conscience?! Your mother was killed by that heartless bastard, and instead of avenging her, you're helping him cover it up! You're not my son!" Old Man Mo glared at Mo Dali with resentment, his finger trembling as he pointed at him.

Mo Dali broke down in tears, “What can I do? The second son is dead! He died on the battlefield! The second son’s child is still so young. Our family is being ostracized by the whole village, and life is hard. I can’t even support my own wife and child. If something happens to the second son’s family, what will happen to his child? Will you raise him?”

If word gets out, what will people think of our family? How will my children get married? Haven't you thought about that? You want me to avenge my mother, but who will speak up for me? I didn't cause any of this, so why should I suffer the consequences? Tell me why!

Faced with his son's accusations, Mo Laotian was speechless, burst into tears, and his fingers fell limply to the ground.

Mo Dali felt much better after yelling and turned to leave.

He will go to the village chief again tomorrow and tell him that his mother accidentally fell into the water and drowned.

Perhaps feeling uneasy, he couldn't rest easy after returning home. He went to the old house again under the cover of night, only to find that Old Mo had hung himself from the roof beam with a hemp rope.

Mo Dali shouted in a panic, "Quickly put Mo Laotian down!"

After the villagers took turns trying to save him, he was finally saved.

Only then did the villagers realize that Guan had died.

They looked at each other, bewildered, none of them knowing what had happened.

Gao Zhi drove the villagers away and did not inquire about the cause of Guan's death. He only looked at Mo Laotian on the bed and advised, "Death is the end of everything. I've heard that people who commit suicide are punished in hell. If you want to go like this, I can't stop you. It's a pity that Dali has to take responsibility for all the sins you've committed. You're harming yourself and others!"

Gao Zhi shook his head, sighed, and left.

Mo Dali felt that even a stranger would care about him more than his father, so he said fiercely, "Dad, it's okay! If you want to die, then die. I can save you once, but I can't save you a second time. If you die, I'll die too. It'll be better if we all die."

Threatened by Mo Dali, Mo Laotian really didn't dare to die and could only live a life of torment day and night.

The next day, the people from Ximen Village went to Shenjiazhuang to work, and Su Tai was among the first to eat the Mo family's melons.
