Chapter 30: The Slab in the Tomb

Chapter 30: The Slab in the Tomb
As Mindatis spoke, he quickly ran to the other side. He seemed to be very familiar with this tomb. I don't know which mechanism he manipulated, but a thick stone wall fell down, completely isolating him from Ron.

Quest saw it and reacted quickly. He just glanced at Ron and then flew to Mindatis' side, disappearing behind the stone wall with the elf.

The dwarf spellcaster also noticed something was wrong, but due to his short legs, he was unable to retreat in time and was trapped with a group of lizardmen.

"What do you mean?" Ron looked at him, "We are very short of manpower, so you are welcome to change your job."

"Don't even think about it!" The dwarf glared at Ron fiercely, "I will never be a traitor - go to hell!"

"Giant Transformation Technique!"

As the dwarf began to cast spells with spells, gestures and a pinch of iron powder, an already strong lizardman immediately began to grow larger. In just a few seconds, its body size expanded to twice its original size. It roared at Sera and pounced on all fours.

At the same time, the other lizardmen and the goblin hunters outside also responded quickly. One lizardman after another attacked Ivy and Victoria's shield formation, and a series of arrows shot in from behind the door, sending sparks and blood on the lizardmen's scales.

"Scorching Shot—"

The dwarf hiding in the corner behind the giant lizardman was preparing to cast a spell again. This was his usual tactic: strengthen a companion who was good at melee combat, while hiding himself and launching a sneak attack.

But unfortunately, this time he attacked the wrong person.

"Snapped!"

While the dwarf was still casting a spell with his hand gestures, a feather arrow flew in from the air and shot through one of his palms. Not only was his scorching rays unable to be released, but even the giant transformation spell on the lizard man that required him to stay focused was also dissipated.

Before the poor lizard man had time to adapt to this sudden change, Sera's axe chopped him down and half of his head was cut off.

"Ha! Do you like it? This is my 'local reduction technique'!" Sera spat on the lizardman's corpse and laughed.

These lizardmen were slightly stronger than their counterparts outside, but their numbers were much smaller; on the other hand, Ron had a barbarian join him. When the dwarf was shot through the palm by a cold arrow from Driver, the situation had become one-sided, and the tomb was filled with the smell of lizardmen's blood.

As for the dwarf, Ron wanted to spare his life. Whether it was by reasoning with him, appealing to his emotions, or using the great memory recovery technique, he would get as much information as possible out of him.

But even Kalade couldn't micro-control the goblins, and before Ron could try to stop him, the dwarf was stabbed into a sieve by the goblins who swarmed over him.

"I wanted to keep him alive," Driver shook his head regretfully, "but I guess it would be useful for you to keep him alive."

"Forget it," Ron waved his hand. "If he's dead, he's dead. There should be someone here who knows Mindatis's purpose, right?"

"Don't look at me," Sera, who was so brave just now, suddenly felt guilty, "I don't get along with that elf, you saw it too."

"He never tells me anything. I only know that we came here this time to find a slab carved from a purple gem."

"Did you find it?" Ivy asked.

"No," Sera shook her head, "We came from the other side of the stone wall, and here is the last tomb, but we still found nothing."

"But Mindatis assured us that he couldn't be wrong. The slab must be here." "Is it this one?"

Kalade came over at this time. There was no suspense in the previous battle, so he did not take any action and just watched from the side.

In the hands of the earth elf, he was holding a stone slab that was about half a meter long and wide.

The entire slate was carved from a single piece of purple gemstone, reflecting dazzling light under Ron's dancing light technique.

"I don't know," Sera shrugged, "but it looks like it should be it. Where did you find it, big guy?"

"It's in the crack behind the stone door." Kalade led everyone over and pointed to the place where the stone slab was found. It was an ordinary pile of rubble.

"There is a secret compartment here. In the past," Ivy walked over and touched a not-so-obvious groove on it, "probably because of the passage of time, the mechanism broke down and the stone slab stuck inside fell out. The stone above shattered and covered it up, so it was not discovered."

"I didn't expect you to find me today."

"I poked its edge with my spear and pried it out from the pile of rocks," Karad said. "Let's not talk about that for now. What on earth did the elf want to do by being so persistent in finding it?"

"I told you not to ask me, eh!" Sera was speechless, "I really don't know what he wants to do with this thing!"

"Look, there are several grooves on it. Do I need to put something in it before I can use it?" Ron took the stone slab from Kalade's hand and looked at it again and again.

"Four smooth sides and three sanded sides?" Victoria looked at the slate thoughtfully. "If I were the one who made the slate, I would definitely make sure that the grooves for holding items were all on the same side."

"Put it vertically?" Driver regretted his words as soon as they came out of his mouth, because everyone present looked at him with contempt.

The stone slab is half a meter long and wide, but as thick as Ron's palm. It is almost impossible to stand it upright after embedding objects asymmetrically on both sides.

"Unless... it can float up by itself after being activated," Victoria cast a detection spell on the stone slab. "There is indeed a strong aura on it. It is indeed a good magic item, but the problem is that we don't know how to use it now."

"Then we have to take it with us for now. Mindatis will definitely not give up easily. Maybe we can get something out of him when we catch him next time." Ron put the slate away, and no one questioned it.

He is the only mage in the team - although he is only a half-baked one at the moment.

"Let's search this place again. It would be a shame to go back empty-handed since we're here. Ivy? What are you doing in front of that coffin?"

After looking at the secret compartment where the stone slab was originally stored, Ivy went to wander around. This time she stopped in front of a sarcophagus, wondering what she had discovered.

"Ron, come here," Ivy didn't turn around, but just waved him over, "Do you still remember the empire I used to bully others?"

"Hai Lan Empire?" Ron was stunned and quickly moved over. Following Ivy's finger, Ron saw a familiar emblem pattern on the inside of the sarcophagus.

Double Lion Crown.
