Overlord: Start from the Goblin Lair.
Chapter 25 Parting ways
Chapter 25 Parting ways
"Let's talk about our next plan."
Victor Fromm sat upright and said: "Although some refugees died or fled, this is only a temporary solution. When the storm is over, they will gather back because they can't survive. And the natural disaster will not retreat because of this."
"So the plan to develop the fantasy land must continue."
"Then I have a suggestion: first establish a trading post as an outpost on the periphery, and then explore deeper into the interior. Even if there is no subsequent progress, the outpost can help us relieve some of the pressure and burden."
Ron expressed his thoughts. The main reason was that this would give them a reason to stay at the edge of the Delusion Land and give the goblins time to migrate. Once a large number of goblins arrived, the progress of the entire mission would inevitably speed up.
Otherwise, with just these few people, it would take an unknown amount of time to complete the exploration of the fantasy land.
"This is not appropriate. Just like the mayor said, it is only a temporary solution and not a fundamental solution." Mindatis immediately raised his objection.
"I have been through the Land of Delusion and am familiar with it. We should go through it again and find the lords on the other side to achieve the best results with a two-pronged approach."
To put it bluntly, they were waiting for reinforcements. Quest mentioned that Mindatis might be serving another lord over there.
"Well..." Victor fell into deep thought. Ron's suggestion was relatively reasonable, but he could also see what Mindatis was going to do - it would be a good thing for him to have someone to help him.
"Why don't we split into two teams?" Lavinia, who was watching the show nearby, said suddenly. "Ron and this elf should each bring some people so as not to put all the eggs in one basket."
"This way, whether there are spies in the team or the progress on that side is not satisfactory, it is an acceptable loss."
Victor's eyes lit up: "Good idea, let's do as you say!"
"Then let's split up into teams and set off after resting. Victoria, who are you going to go with?"
"I choose Ron, sir," the priest said without hesitation, "Before what happened last night, he had already led a team, and his proposal sounds safe."
"Of course Driver and I are with Ron," Ivy rolled her eyes at Mindatis, "I'm afraid some sinister villain will stab me in the back out of gratitude."
"Bug!" Driver spat at Mindatis.
"I will go with Mindatis!" Sera got up from the ground and picked up her giant axe. "In my opinion, Ron's proposal is too cowardly. We in the Ochre Tribe will never agree to such a thing!"
"As for relationships, I don't get along well with them, so it doesn't matter."
"Mindatis," the dwarf said immediately, looking at Ron gloomily, "In my opinion, whether it is not rescuing the mayor in the first place or letting yourself be beaten by the barbarians, it is a manifestation of being too self-centered. How can a leader who does not understand the importance of a leader lead a team well?"
Now there were four people on Ron's side and three on the elf's side, and everyone's eyes were on Tiflinquist.
"What are you still hesitating about?" Ivy frowned, "Are you really going to get together with that guy?"
"Well, actually, yes."
Amid everyone's surprised gazes, Quest actually nodded.
"Forgive me, brother Ron," the tiefling's tail was nervously wrapped around his calf, "I don't mean to betray you, but I really don't like putting all my eggs in one basket. It's four to four now, which is fair." "And hedging my bets is the best option for me - don't forget, I have already provided you with financial support, haven't I?"
"If you think so, I can understand." Ron shook his head gently, "I won't bear a grudge against you. You have indeed given me a lot."
If it weren't for him, Ron would still be an ordinary person now.
"If I succeed, you can come to me. If Mindatis wins... I hope Mindatis can fulfill your wish."
"I hope so too." Tiefling bowed to Ron gratefully.
"What about you, Lavinia? And Boonie," Ron turned to the two halflings, "More hands are always better."
"I'll be a drag." Boone smiled gently, "Besides, Victoria is gone and the pastoral staff in town is short. I can't just leave like this."
"But I will pray to the goddess for you every day."
"Let's talk about it after you build the outpost." Lavinia waved her hand. "I'm not the kind of person who likes to travel around. Although I want to investigate the various alchemical materials in the Delusion Land, I must have a stable residence so that I can build a workshop."
"As for you - you can shut up now," Lavinia pointed at the elf, "I don't like you, that's all."
"It looks like the teams have been divided," Victor clapped his hands with a smile, "Then I wish you success!"
"By the way, you must be very tired after just experiencing a great battle. I have just prepared a room in my mansion where you can wash and rest. If you are thirsty or hungry, just call my servants. If you need to update your equipment or buy items, I can help you and will ensure your supplies as much as possible."
“But I still hope that everyone will work towards their goals as quickly as possible - after all, we don’t know whether there will be more disasters and more refugees in the future.”
Compared to Ron and his team who decided to rest and recuperate first, Mindatis immediately urged the team members to set off, in order to express his determination, which was different from Ron's and more resolute.
Ron and his companions completely ignored the provocation and rested comfortably in Fromm for a day, repairing their armor and sorting out their belongings. Ron was refining potions, Driver disappeared first, and Ivy even got herself a huge tower shield that could cover her entire body from the mayor's arsenal.
You can't have a warm bed if you are impatient. Ron persuaded the anxious Victoria.
Jian Duanjie said that Ron did not lead the team until the early morning of the next day, and his target was not the south, but directly north.
"Why? If you don't give me a reasonable explanation, I will have to leave the team immediately and catch up with Mindatis's team." After walking north for a day and a half, Victoria felt disappointed. She stood there and began to protest to Ron.
She even regretted joining this group. The goblin disappeared, and now these two people were heading north again - what on earth were they going to do?
"Just be patient, just be patient," Ron raised his hands and chuckled, "You'll know soon. I sent Driver to give us a message before we set out, so we don't have to go too far. They'll be here soon."
"Listen carefully, the wild is calling."
In the wilderness, the howling of wolves could be heard one after another.
