The Queen of Scrolls never admits defeat

Chapter 614 Crisis and Challenges

“I’ll go check on Sylph first, and then I’ll stay in Emerald Plains until Lady Carmela and the others return to Valen,” Moran said.

This period is the most dangerous time in the wilderness. Only by staying here can we respond to various emergencies in a timely manner.

She also wanted to explore whether the power of will could be incorporated into various forms of magic to effectively amplify their effects.

After a busy trip to the holy city, this is all the valuable stuff I've gained.

“Alright! Go ahead! I need to continue using exotic magic to stimulate the growth of the nearby mutated ironthorn trees, so they can grow even taller. That way, if angels or dragons come to attack, they can cause them some trouble,” Amisha said.

The demon race, which also has the ability to fly, has membranous wings similar to those of bats, and can only fly at low altitudes. The height of the Senluo Ironthorn Tree Wall is now high enough to stop most of the demons.

"Don't worry, Dean, it's highly unlikely that the angels and dragons will launch a large-scale attack on the wilderness. Even if some have personal grudges, they won't choose to come to the wilderness to fight against all the witches," Moran said confidently.

"Why do you say that?" Amisha asked. "I can understand the dragons. We don't have any deep-seated hatred with them. If the witches are weak, they will at most restrict the freedom of the gourmet witches on Delicious Island. But what about the angels? Back then, Lady Anita even broke through Paradise Mountain! If they know that Lady Anita is in trouble, they are very likely to attack the Wilderness."

Moran pulled out a card: "Take a look at this!"

This {Knowledge Card - Angel} was created using all the valid information she had gleaned from the memories of Otaros and Cortama.

Amisha used her speed-reading ability to read the contents of the card, her eyes widening with astonishment: "Is the source of the knowledge in this card reliable?"

Moran nodded: "It was obtained from the angel's memories using mental magic."

Amisha remembered the mental magic spells in the card shop that clearly came from mages, and felt relieved:

"If the high-ranking angels abandon their emotions and retain only reason, then they probably wouldn't be able to feel any desire for revenge!"

Even during the Age of Gods, the angels never considered witches as potential believers. This was because witches were few in number and each one was a tough nut to crack. The angels only suppressed and persecuted witches to sow discord between witches and humans and to consolidate their faith.

Now, the humans of Valen are no longer the best choice for angels to harvest faith, and targeting witches is indeed of no benefit to angels.

If there were no intention of revenge, that angel might very well have stood by and watched.

“That’s what I mean,” Moran said. “As for the dragons, the only thing they covet about witches is the food they cook.”

I think that as long as I declare that the Dawn Society belongs to the witches, all those who persecute witches will be blacklisted by the Dawn Society. They certainly won't give up the millions of {food cards} of the Dawn Society for the sake of the food witches on Delicious Island.

Rather than controlling the food witches' personal freedom to obtain food, they might prefer to have the food witches trade their recipes to the Dawn Society, allowing them to buy the food they want anytime, anywhere, without waiting for the witches to cook it, and to buy as much as they want.

Both races have inherited memories and fragments of miracles, and their average level of education is guaranteed, making it virtually impossible for any of them to act impulsively and do something pointless.

Moran was relatively reassured:
"Currently, humans are number one on my list of people to be wary of, and demons are number two."

The human race is diverse in its qualities, and I don't know enough about demons; their behavior is unpredictable. If any race were to launch a large-scale invasion of the wilderness, I think it might be one of them.

“Demons don’t wage war openly,” Amisha said. “From what I know of them, they’ve always coveted our souls, not our lives. To harvest our souls, they can’t just kill us; they have to drive us to despair and force us to give up our lives, or trick us into signing a demonic pact and selling our souls to them. Only then can they possibly take our souls after we die.”

At most, they would secretly plot and incite other races to suppress witches, thereby forcing them to commit suicide or sign a pact with them.

The fact that human mages conducted such cruel magical experiments on witches in the early days of the magical era suggests that demons were involved.

The orcish prophet foretold Lady Anita's demise, and demons were also involved in this.

They never gave up their desire for the witch's soul.

But they're dreaming. In the past, witches didn't know anything about demons and might have mistaken them for saviors in desperate situations, falling into their traps. Now, every witch knows what demons are and wouldn't casually sign contracts with unknown origins.

"Then... it can only be humans."

Humans are only slightly more cohesive than a pile of loose sand; when fighting alone, no witch is afraid of humans.

Moran and Amisha smiled at each other, their pressure instantly lessening.

"Perhaps this isn't a crisis caused by witches, but rather an opportunity for us to make a name for ourselves in Valen once again!"

Moran suddenly had a brilliant idea: "Why don't we add a little something extra when we announce that the Dawn Society belongs to the witches? Let's create some challenges that won't endanger everyone's lives, give them a good workout, and let the other races of Valen know that even without Lady Anita and the other witches, the witches are not to be trifled with!"

"How so?" Amisha asked, intrigued.

The trip to Sylph's house was postponed for the time being. Moran went to the space tent that Lady Amisa had placed by the wall of the Ironthorn Tree in Senluo to discuss how to take advantage of this opportunity to train the witches and prevent their brilliance from being completely overshadowed by the witches.

The witches may not be as talented as the sorceresses, but each of them has the ability to stand on their own. Under the sorceresses' protection, they have never given up on becoming stronger.

Moran and Amisa revised the Dawn Society Bulletin more than a hundred times before arriving at the most satisfactory version.

Then, they discussed this version of the announcement remotely with the witches of the witch clan via the {communication card}, finalized the draft, agreed on the timing of the announcement and the parts that the clan needed to cooperate with, and only then was the matter considered closed.

When a crisis becomes a challenge and an opportunity for growth, one's mindset changes drastically.

"Hopefully the demons will act quickly with the orcs and not keep us waiting too long!"

Amisa was getting impatient.

Moran had a similar feeling.

"The clan council will be closely monitoring the {Alien Information Screening and Processing Card}. I will also take some time to check the movements of the demon and orc members of the Dawn Society. We will make sure to discover the situation and issue an announcement as soon as it spreads." (End of Chapter)
