Captain Jack of Azeroth
Chapter 90: Muradin Bronzebeard
Chapter 90: Muradin Bronzebeard
"I am an adventurer from Lordaeron. I came to Northrend to look for a certain ore."
After entering the gathering point, Jack introduced himself to the people.
The people at the gathering point began to believe Jack's words when they heard the different accents.
Someone showed Jack the way. "I don't know what kind of ore you're looking for. The blacksmith shop here has a lot of Northrend's special ores. You can go there and take a look."
Jack thanked the passerby and went to the blacksmith shop. The blacksmith shop was bustling with activity, with several dwarves repairing weapons.
Jack repeated his explanation, and the owner of the blacksmith shop smiled and said, "The ore is all here, you can take a look."
At this time, a dwarf came over and said, "Are you from Lordaeron? Your accent doesn't sound right!"
Jack said calmly, "I was originally from Stormwind, and later moved to Lordaeron, so my accent is a bit mixed."
The dwarf smiled and said, "It is true."
"Young man, I hope you don't mind. I've been in Lordaeron for many years, so I'm a little sensitive to the Lordaeron accent. I thought I met someone from my hometown."
Jack smiled and continued to observe the ore.
"I also know quite a few humans in Stormwind, but they all returned to Stormwind, and very few stayed in Lordaeron."
Jack felt that the dwarf was still testing him, so he said, "I don't want to stay in Lordaeron either. After all, it's not my hometown. However, my family was killed by orcs, and I also offended the nobles, so I have to stay in Lordaeron."
The dwarf nodded. "I can't comment on human affairs, but young people should be more open-minded."
"I'm very open-minded." Jack looked at him and asked, "Sir, what can I do for you?"
The dwarf shook his head. "I'm just curious. After all, it's rare to see humans coming from Lordaeron."
Jack pointed outside the door, "Everyone here seems to be from Lordaeron, right?"
The dwarf laughed. "Indeed, I was overthinking it."
He held out his hand. "I am Muradin Bronzebeard, it's a pleasure to meet you, young man."
Muradin?
Jack looked him over carefully. "Are you really Muradin?"
Muradin smiled and said, "It's absolutely genuine."
Jack smiled. "Nice to meet you, Lord Muradin. Aren't you in Lordaeron? How did you end up in Northrend?"
"Vacation!"
"Vacation?" Jack asked puzzledly, "I heard that Prince Alsace is studying with you."
Muradin: "That's true, but it doesn't affect my vacation."
Jack gave a thumbs up and said, "I envy you so much that you even have a vacation."
“Hahaha!” Muradin laughed. “Young man, what kind of ore are you looking for? I know a lot about ores.”
Jack thought about it and realized that if he just mentioned a random mineral, Muradin would definitely know it, which would be detrimental to his disguise.
"Actually, I don't know what the ore is called. I only know that this ore was once found in a place called Tibu."
"This ore can restrain fire, which made a wizard very interested in it. He offered a high price to buy it."
Muradin fell into deep thought. "This is the first time I've heard of such an ore. Is there such a strange ore in the world?"
Jack shrugged, "Who knows! But since the master wizard is willing to pay a high price, I will look for it. What if I find it?" The two talked about ores. Muradin introduced Jack to several ores unique to Northrend. Cobalt ore is a metalloid. It can be used to make alloys to improve heat resistance, hardness, corrosion resistance, etc. It is very valuable.
According to legend, Saronite is an evil ore with a very high hardness. If it is used to make armor, it will have a very high defense. However, Saronite is very heavy, and the armor made from it is not something that ordinary people can wear.
Titanium is said to be an ore left behind by the Titans. It can be cast into equipment or used to add metal to create alloys. The alloys made from it are even more powerful than cobalt ore.
Cobalt ore is very common, while Saronite and Titanium are very rare. Those in the blacksmith shop are all traded from other places.
Jack's eyes gradually brightened up, and he asked his master the price of Titanium.
"Titanium is expensive, one pound costs thirty gold coins."
"So expensive?" Jack was very surprised. The real silver ore sold by the goblins in Hot Sands Port was only ten gold coins per pound.
"Just be content! If these dwarves want to use some rare ores, I won't go all the way to buy them."
Jack thought about it, reluctantly paid the money to buy those few pounds of Titanium, and also bought some cobalt ore.
Muradin asked curiously: "Young man, what are you going to do with so much Titanium?"
"I want to make a shotgun."
"Pistol?" Muradin became curious. "You can also make pistols?"
You know, the pistol was invented by the dwarves. It was popularized in the Alliance Army a few years ago with the Orc War. But the only people who know how to make a pistol are the dwarves. Now that he heard that Jack knows how to make a pistol, he was of course curious.
Jack said modestly, "I understand a little. Lord Muradin, please help me smelt these ores."
"no problem."
Muradin wanted to watch Jack make the pistol and didn't mind being free labor.
While Muradin was smelting the metal ingots, Jack took out a pistol blueprint and kept revising it on the table. This was the third generation of pistol blueprints designed by Jack. The first generation was the Captain's pistol, and the second generation was the double pistol.
The third generation pistol has a larger caliber, more bullet capacity, and can fire any bullet. It has always been a fantasy before, just because of the right material. Now there is Titanium, which is just right for making the third generation pistol.
The performance of Titanium is much better than the material required for the third-generation pistol, so the design of the pistol can be simplified.
The owner of the blacksmith shop and several other dwarves came over and looked at Jack writing and drawing with surprised expressions.
"Is this a pistol?"
Hearing the blacksmith's owner's question, the dwarves nodded, then shook their heads.
"From the style, it is indeed a pistol. But it is completely different from the pistols we make. It should be his own design."
The dwarves discussed with each other again, "This pistol looks very beautiful."
“It’s also much more complex in structure.”
"How do you load its bullets?"
Muradin finished smelting the metal ingots and came over. He took a look and was attracted by the pistol on the blueprint.
"Young man, you are truly a genius. Your design concept is much more advanced than ours. Can you tell us why you designed it this way?"
Jack smiled and said, "Each race has its own style. Dwarves are rough and the items they make are heavy, safe and reliable. Goblins advocate simplicity and practicality and like powerful weapons. Gnomes are full of childlike innocence and can always make items for various purposes. My design concept is to combine the safety and reliability of dwarves, the power and ferocity of goblins, and the exquisite design of dwarves, plus some aesthetics, and it becomes what is shown on the drawing."
