Captain Jack of Azeroth

Chapter 9 Dwarven Pistol

Chapter 9 Dwarven Pistol
The alliance's battle line is too long, and the regular army has to be transferred to the front line, so the local defense can only be filled by these new soldiers. Once the war is unfavorable, these new soldiers will also go to the front line.

The new recruits in Nanhai Town are not very lucky, as the Nanhai Town they are to defend will soon become the front line.

A month after Jack entered the military camp, a fleet suddenly appeared in the south. This fleet was flying the flag of Kul Tiras, but every ship had signs of war. They had just finished fighting and retreated to South Sea Town to repair.

All the troops in Nanhai Town were mobilized to collect supplies needed by the fleet.

Jack saw an opportunity to make a contribution. He was familiar with ships and understood engineering, so after getting the list, he knew what kind of supplies to prepare.

Therefore, Jack's team was the first to complete the collection of supplies.

After delivering the supplies to the ship at the dock, Jack took the opportunity to say to the soldiers of the fleet: "I know some maintenance skills, I wonder if I can help."

The soldier reported to the first officer, who looked at Jack with interest, then walked over and asked, "You said you know maintenance?"

Jack: "I once spent a month on a ship, so I know ships better. I also repaired mining equipment in the mine, so we were able to collect supplies so quickly."

"Come with me!"

The first mate took Jack on board, and Jack's eyes lit up when he saw the huge cannons on the deck. Although these cannons were crude, they meant that this warship had the potential to sink enemy ships from a distance.

"You are in charge here!"

The first mate assigned Jack a task.

Jack had seen the men repairing cargo ships before. Although they were a little clumsy at first, they soon became proficient. Compared with the craftsmen, Jack was definitely not as good, but Jack's joining allowed the craftsmen on the ship to focus on more important work.

After initially gaining the trust of the first mate, Jack said, "There are actually a lot of craftsmen in the recruit camp. If you can get them to join the maintenance work, it can reduce a lot of maintenance time."

The first mate did not rush to the recruit camp, but asked, "What's your name?"

"My name is Jack..." Jack hesitated and did not give his real name, "Jack Sparrow"

"Jack Sparrow?" The first mate thought for a moment, but couldn't figure out which kingdom Sparrow was from. It looked like Jack was using a pseudonym. But it didn't matter. "My name is Fizmos, and I'm the first mate of the Spray Lady. Would you like to join the Spray Lady?"

The Wave Goddess? This name is familiar.

Jack laughed, "Of course I would."

This was exactly his goal. Compared to the army, he preferred to join the navy. The orcs' strength was infantry combat, and Jack was not sure about fighting them on land. But he was much more confident at sea.

Even if pirates are equipped with artillery, they still have to engage in boarding battles. They need to rob the property on the enemy ship. But it is different for the navy. The first priority of a naval battle is to sink the enemy ship. If you don't want to be sunk, you have to raise the white flag and obediently hand over the property.

"I will speak to your superior about this."

Fizmos went to find the officer of the new recruit camp, and soon brought back a group of new recruits who were craftsmen. Then he handed a badge to Jack and said, "From now on, you are a member of the Wave Goddess."

Jack took the badge solemnly, pinned it on his chest, and saluted Fizmos, "Sir, please give me your guidance." Fizmos laughed, "Get busy!"

"As ordered!"

Jack saluted Fitzmoss a second time in a playful manner, then turned around and went back to the maintenance work.

The new recruits were envious of Jack for being able to become a sailor.

"Jack, you're so lucky!"

"The navy is much safer than us..."

"If I had known I could join the Navy, I would have tried my best during training."

There was no point in their envy, as the fleet and South Sea Town belonged to two kingdoms after all. Although the Alliance had unified the command of the army, it had not unified the military status. It was no problem for Fizmos to ask for one or two soldiers, and the officers would give him face. But for dozens of the best-trained soldiers, that would require a mobilization order from the Kingdom of Alterac.

With the participation of dozens of craftsmen, the ship was repaired in just three days.

Fizmos registered Jack in the military and issued him a Kul Tiras navy uniform, military pay, and weapons. The military pay was 30 silver coins, which was his basic military pay for the month. If he performed meritorious service or got promoted, he would receive other subsidies. He had two weapons, a Kul Tiras standard longsword and a dwarven pistol.

Jack couldn't let go of the dwarf pistol. Although it was only a single-shot hand cannon, it could fire instantly. The loading speed was not very fast. Jack tried it and could fire three bullets in one minute. The bullets were rough iron balls, fired with gunpowder bags. In order to prevent the gunpowder from getting wet, the gunpowder bags were made of a waterproof material similar to kraft paper.

Before setting off, Jack would conduct shooting training at the shooting range in the military camp every day. The sound of the dwarf's pistol attracted the attention of the new recruits, whose eyes turned red with envy.

Every time the officers drove away the new recruits, they would sneer and say, "What are you looking at? If you have the ability, you can join the navy too."

They also envied Jack, and if possible, they also wanted to join the Kul Tiras Navy, not only to be safer in battle, but also because the salary of the Kul Tiras Navy was at least three times what they were currently receiving.

Kul Tiras is a maritime kingdom that mainly relies on trade for development. Maritime trade is risky, but high risk also means high returns, so Kul Tiras can be said to be the richest country among the seven kingdoms, and the navy must be given adequate treatment to make a living. Because they have been adventuring on the sea for many years, the Kul Tirans are brave and fearless, and are born excellent sailors.

After two days of training, Jack's accuracy didn't improve at all. The main reason was that the dwarven pistol didn't have a sight, so aiming could only be done by feel. But the feel for a gun couldn't be developed in a day or two, so he could only think of ways to improve the gun itself.

Jack went to the blacksmith shop, disassembled the dwarf pistol, borrowed the blacksmith shop's furnace, and cast a new trigger based on the trigger. The new trigger has an extra sight compared to the old one, which is the most primitive sight.

After installing the new trigger, Jack returned to the barracks to test the gun. The sight did improve the accuracy, but it was a little too high, so Jack polished it off bit by bit.

After adjusting to the optimal height, Jack can hit the target every time within 20 yards. If the sight cannot be improved, this is the peak of Jack's shooting ability.

Jack cast ten more according to the new trigger, just in case.

Before the Spray Goddess set out again, Jack gained a preliminary understanding of the dwarven pistol by disassembling the pistol and firing 150 rounds.
