Chapter 25 Betrayal Knight Dick
Wolves are not scary.

Even wolves of Warcraft level aren't scary.

But packs of monster wolves are terrifying.

Therefore, Roman's expression changed.

Shasta's expression also changed.

She grabbed the terrified Gervir and turned to leave.

"You want to leave?" Roman stepped out from behind Aaron's shield, his expression cold.

Shasta looked directly at Roman: "If you still want to stop me at this point, you will be wiped out."

She might not be able to wipe out Roman's entire retinue by herself, but with the help of the wolf pack, she certainly could.

Roman raised his chin, and then his words were like a cold blade: "If you dare to leave, I'll kill Gweil!"

Shasta and Gweil might be able to escape, but he and his guards certainly won't.

This is tantamount to using his troops to hold back the ferocious wolf pack.

But Roman wouldn't allow that to happen.

Shasta might be difficult to kill. He couldn't guarantee he'd hit her with the Greatsword of the Cracked Armor—this witch who could use smoke was a great counter to his archery skills, and judging by her speed in killing monsters, her physical abilities were definitely no weaker than a third-tier Conqueror Knight.

But it's not necessarily the case for Gweil.

If Shasta dares to take Gweil away, he won't aim at Shasta, but at Gweil, and he'll have all the hunters shoot arrows at him.

Roman said, "Either we both suffer heavy losses, or you stay and help me kill the entire wolf pack!"

Shasta trembled all over, gritting his teeth as he agreed.

"Aaron, you and Gweil stand at the very back. If anyone dares to turn around and run away, kill her on the spot!"

Roman remained calm in the face of danger. He directed the operation, arranging for the hunters to spread out and fire freely, while having the shield-bearing guards stand in front to hinder the wolf pack and prevent them from being scattered.

"The wolf pack is coming. No one can escape. We have no way out but to fight to the death!" Roman gave a speech. He was desperate about the combat quality of the guards after the wild bear attack, but he still had to say what needed to be said.

Before they could say more than a few words, a gust of evil wind swept over them.

The wolf pack traversed the complex terrain and suddenly appeared in the dense forest.

They are large, with stiff, gray fur all over their bodies. They are about two meters long, more than one meter tall at the shoulder, and weigh nearly 200 kilograms.

But this only represents the height of an adult wolf. Not all of the dozen or so wolves were that strong; only five or six were mature adults. The majority were female wolves, older wolves, or young wolves, who were relatively weak.

In an instant, Roman keenly sensed that the guards' morale had wavered, and even the hunters became tense, as this was the first time they had faced these ferocious beasts head-on.

He roared, "Don't retreat! Those who retreat will die! Kill these beasts!"

The wolves moved with lightning speed. Upon seeing the guards in front, they did not rush at them. Instead, they relied on their agility and mobility to launch an attack from the left and right.

The mountainous terrain is complex, making it difficult for humans to take detours, but this does not hinder the wolf pack's movements.

"Support from both flanks!"

Roman drew his great bow, which he had been aiming at ever since they appeared.

With a thud, the arrow left the bowstring, aimed at the body but hitting the wolf's hind leg instead.

The immense force pierced through one of its hind legs, causing it to fall to the ground. Its body lurched forward two or three meters before disappearing into the bushes—immediately afterward, the bushes began to tremble violently and emit an exceptionally pitiful howl.

The strongest wolf pounced from the right. Shasta leaped into the air, his kick, enveloped in black mist, striking the target squarely and interrupting the most ferocious wolf's attack.

Shasta and the wolf fell heavily to the ground.

Shasta sprang to his feet with a somersault, and the wolf quickly got up as well, and the two engaged in a fierce battle.

Roman was also attacked. He reversed his armor-piercing bow, switched from shooting to swinging, and sent a strong adult wolf flying.

The heavy bow twirled nimbly in Roman's hands. He used it as a shield, holding it horizontally in front of him to intercept another wolf's attack. The wolf's head fit perfectly between the bowstring and the bow, and it opened its mouth to bite Roman's ribs. Unfortunately, it couldn't bite through Roman's thick clothing—the clothing worn by nobles when hunting could basically be called soft armor.

Roman remained expressionless. He twisted the great bow with brute force, and with the strong bowstring, he forcefully severed the wolf's throat, and also twisted off the wolf skin around its neck. Hot blood gushed out, staining half of his body red.

When Roman dropped the wolf carcass he was carrying under his arm and looked elsewhere, he saw Shasta and two wolves locked in a fierce battle, while his guards and hunters had long been scattered by the wolf pack.

Although each wolf had several arrows stuck in its body, they were not fatal. The pain clearly stimulated their ferocious nature, while the guards were obviously not so ruthless, and five or six of them had already fallen.

If this continues, this group of guards will be wiped out.

The wounded wolves fought with increasing ferocity, while the wounded humans were utterly exhausted.

A bunch of trash!
Even if we kill the wolves, there are probably not many of these people who will survive to the end. Damn it, I should have known better than to let Green and Dota go after the bandit Borg.

Just then, Roman heard another long wolf howl coming from not far away, and the pack of wolves on this side echoed it with their own howls.

Roman was shocked, realizing that there was still one alpha wolf missing.

broken!

Aaron slammed his heavy shield at a wolf, suppressing its movement. Hearing the commotion, he panicked and prepared to escort Roman out.

Just then, the alpha wolf suddenly let out a mournful cry from afar.

Green and Dota are back?

Roman realized that the alpha wolf had been attacked and that the pack was showing signs of retreating, which greatly boosted his spirits.

"Stop these beasts!" Roman picked up a spear from the ground and threw it with all his might. However, the spear did not pierce the wolf's body. It was more like a long stick hitting a wolf in the waist. It did not cause any obvious injury, but only made the wolf stagger.

As the wolf pack retreated, a figure suddenly appeared.

The man swung his longsword, easily killing the first wolf that retreated, then held off the second wolf that was staggering, and quickly killed it as well.

The battle quickly ended after Shasta killed two wolves and Roman killed two more with his greatbow.

Roman took a deep breath. The fight hadn't lasted long, maybe two or three minutes at most, but it had taken a huge toll on his stamina. Fortunately, he had won.

The unfamiliar reinforcements also walked in this direction.

Roman also noticed that this person's sword-wielding style was clearly not Green's, and Green wasn't this fierce either.

Soon, Roman saw what the man looked like.

"Uncle Dick!"

Terrified by the sudden turn of events, the cursed witch Gweil ran over.

Upon hearing the name, Roman carefully examined the middle-aged man in front of him, whose hair was disheveled, whose stubble was thick, and who appeared down on his luck, yet whose features were handsome and weathered.

Betrayal Knight Dick.
