Chapter 541, page 2.1-55: The Crown: The Treasure of a Lost Dynasty
“Heavily guarded…” Noyce frowned, her expression grave, her dark purple eyes fixed on the gate ahead.
"Let's go straight ahead." Dao Lin covered his mouth and said, his face pale.
Bertias nodded to Noyce and said, "Noyce, just go. News of your betrayal shouldn't have reached here yet. You can walk out openly and honestly."
“But… Mu Yegui…” Noyce hesitated, glancing at Mu Yegui beside him. If he hadn’t forgotten, Mu Yegui was forbidden from going out.
"Put me down first," Daolin said, patting Noyce's back in discomfort.
Noyce suddenly realized that she was still carrying Daolin on her shoulder, and quickly put him down and apologized, "I'm sorry, I forgot by accident, Daolin is really too light."
Dao Lin: "..." How strong do you have to be to forget that you're carrying someone on your shoulders?
“I weigh 94 jin (42.5 catties).” Daolin glanced at Noyce and reminded him, implying that he was not light.
Noyce's lips twitched slightly as he said, "Brother, 60.2KG is a normal weight for someone who is 168cm tall. You're seriously underweight."
Bertias stepped forward and said with a light laugh, "What does it matter? I'm 177cm tall and I still only weigh 98 pounds."
"Do you think everyone is like you, a seafood? You have a swim bladder, and your weight is probably mostly water. Are you just exaggerating your weight?" Noyce glanced at Bertias with a sly look and said bluntly.
Bertias: "..." What should I do if I suddenly feel like hitting Noyce?
Dao Lin patted his pockets with both hands as if searching for something, and then he took out a very ornate gold key from one of his pockets.
"Where did you steal it from?" Noyce asked instinctively, startled.
“When Jafar came to rescue me, I had him take me to the treasure vault and I found it. Because the two of you were drawing aggro, you obviously wouldn’t notice me, so it was easy to find. If I’m not mistaken, this should be the key to the God Lock.”
The treasure vault is filled with many items, and most people might think they're difficult to find, and indeed they are. However, a change in perspective makes it much easier. As the saying goes, the most dangerous place is often the safest. People often overlook what's right in front of them, but sometimes it's right under their noses, waiting to be discovered.
Daolin didn't say it aloud, but the other three were quick-witted enough to guess it immediately.
He didn't hand the key to Mu Yegui, but instead walked up to her, knelt down, and unlocked the chains binding her feet. His white, tousled hair slightly obscured his delicate features, making it impossible to see his expression.
“I’m a little curious, why did you send Jafar to rescue Daolin? We didn’t encounter him along the way.” Noyce frowned slightly as she watched Daolin’s actions.
"Didn't you sign a contract with the Apostles?" Mu Yegui glanced at Bertias and Noyce, then looked down at the crown of Daolin's head and asked.
“No,” Noyce and Bertias said in unison.
Dao Lin stood up and helped Mu Yegui unlock the chains on his hands.
Mu Yegui let Dao Lin grab her wrist, and she explained, "When you pulled me just now, I roughly guessed your intention. I just sensed that Jiafaer had returned, so I sent him to save Dao Lin. Jiafaer is an apostle I have a contract with. Apostles can directly connect with their master's mental waves within a certain range and communicate with each other through consciousness without needing to talk face to face."
"What should we do with this?" Dao Lin pointed to the golden chain lying on the ground and asked.
"You just threw this treasure on the ground like that?" Noyce's lips twitched slightly, and she said incredulously.
"It's too heavy, I can't lift it," Dao Lin said bluntly. Did he think he was going to throw it on the ground? He simply realized the weight was too much for him the moment he picked it up, so he gave up decisively.
“If we leave it here, it might be used again later. Let’s take it with us.” Bertias bent down, picked it up, and coiled it around in circles. Daolin paused, then subconsciously asked, “Am I the only one who can’t lift it?”
Noyce gently patted his shoulder to comfort him, saying, "It's alright, you're the strategist, you don't need to exert yourself, just use your brain."
Dao Lin's face darkened. He decided it was better not to offer any comfort; he should just say thank you.
“Daolin,” Mu Yegui said suddenly, touching his wrist.
"Hmm?" Dao Lin subconsciously turned his head to look at Mu Ye Gui, and then saw her take out a white veil from her pocket.
Daolin had a bad feeling, and then Bertias and Noyce grabbed his shoulders from either side.
"This is asking the impossible!" Dao Lin said, struggling.
"There's nothing I can do, you're too short, so I'll have to make do with this. Four people would be too conspicuous, so we have to split up." Dao Lin watched as Mu Yegui walked up to him and then put a veil on his head.
After it was all over, Dao Lin was completely speechless. Being short and unable to fight meant he had no human rights whatsoever.
Bertias looked at Daolin, who looked utterly dejected in women's clothing, with a half-smile, and said softly, "Your Highness, it's about time we went."
"Get rid of that disgusting nickname," Dao Lin said coldly.
Her white, tousled hair fell loosely, a white veil draped behind her head, and a sapphire-encrusted forehead ornament shimmered brilliantly in the sunlight. The sapphire complemented her beautiful, icy-blue eyes, evoking images of a magnificent sea and newly thawed snow-capped mountains, radiating a gentle warmth.
The thin veil subtly concealed her delicate features, creating an ethereal beauty that made one want to lift the veil to see what was behind her.
Thick, curled white eyelashes fluttered, like butterfly wings about to take flight into the sky.
Her icy blue eyes glared at the somewhat thin, handsome young man beside her with a hint of anger. The latter smiled innocently. The saying goes, "The first to strike wins." If he was quick enough, he wouldn't get a chance to wear women's clothing.
and……
“Noyce and I have exit tokens, but neither of you do,” Bertias said with a smile.
For the first time, Dao Lin wanted to say the name of that plant: Grass!
"Daolin and Bell go out first. Noyce and I will catch up as soon as possible. See you in Poenes tonight," Mu Yegui said to the two of them.
"Take care," Bertias nodded and said.
Mu Yegui and Noyce walked in another direction, while Bertias and Daolin left through the west gate.
If she wasn't mistaken, Dionysus should be waiting for them outside the west gate at this moment, and they would be in no danger.
