I'll also work hard to conquer the dungeon today.
Chapter 509, Section 21: Knight's Contract
Chapter 509, Section 2.1: Knight's Contract (Part 2)
It was a snowy day. The snow was falling heavily, like willow catkins, covering the entire earth in pure white, bringing with it a bone-chilling cold.
A crisp 'snap' sound broke the silence.
Moyo, a little boy who was only four or five years old, stood in the yard wearing only a loose short-sleeved shirt, trembling as he covered his arm.
"Do you know her?" The man, holding a whip, looked coldly at the little boy, pointed at the woman standing to the side, and asked.
“I know her…” The little boy nodded tremblingly. She was the aunt next door, but why did his father ask him that?
'Crack!' The whip lashed out again, and the man, feeling it wasn't enough, lashed it several more times.
"Do you know him?" he asked again.
The little boy said fearfully, "I know, good children don't lie..."
The man lashed him again with the whip, each lash more brutal than the last, blood splattering everywhere and staining the snow red.
He huddled in the snow, crying in fear, "I don't know him, I don't know him, I don't know anything about him!"
"Hmph," the man snorted coldly, tossing away the whip in his hand and warning, "You just wait and see, if you dare to recognize me, I'll beat you to death!"
He nodded eagerly, afraid that the man would whip him again.
From then on, he watched his father bring women home one after another, each one looking different. He warned himself not to get to know them; he couldn't forget the beatings in the snow.
Over time, he found that he could no longer distinguish what other people looked like, even if his father stood in front of him, he could not recognize him.
One day, the mother discovered this and angrily confronted the father, but was beaten by him.
He was terrified, afraid of being caught in the crossfire, so he hurriedly ran out of the house. He didn't know how long he ran, but when he came to his senses, he found himself standing in an unfamiliar place.
A menacing-looking man asked him what was wrong. He shook his head. In his eyes, everyone looked the same. He couldn't tell who was who at all. He just wanted to escape from them.
The man behind him grabbed the boy by the collar and roughly dragged him away. The boy suddenly stopped resisting and remained silent, letting himself be dragged along, even though his feet were scraped and blood was left on the snow, which was particularly glaring.
"Wait." A voice suddenly called out to the man.
“I’ll buy this child,” Jill said to the man, taking out a gold coin with a cold expression.
The man glanced at Jill's exquisite and luxurious attire, then at the man behind her whose face was obscured, and a cunning thought arose in his mind. He said slyly, "One gold coin isn't enough. This child is exceptional; we should at least get..."
Before she could finish speaking, she felt a sharp pain in her stomach and collapsed. Jill withdrew her fist and snorted coldly, "I'm not bargaining with you."
He pulled a handful of gold coins from his bag and threw them at the man, then grabbed the little boy and walked toward Sher.
Sher didn't give the little boy a second glance, and turned away as soon as Jill returned to his side, as if he didn't care at all.
The little boy remained silent with his head down, lacking the cheerfulness and energy of a typical child; instead, he seemed lifeless.
"What's your name?" Jill asked, holding the little boy's hand. He didn't answer, but simply shook his head.
"My lord, where should we place him?" Jill asked softly, draping a cloak over him.
“Didn’t the Knight Commander just say he needed a junior apprentice? Send him over.” Sher paused slightly, then said coldly, “Gafal, I hope you live up to that name.”
The little boy paused for a moment, looked up at Sher, his lips moved slightly, but he didn't say anything.
Then he became the knight commander's apprentice and began a new life. Gradually, he forgot the unpleasantness of the past. Only his inability to see the faults of others remained with him, and he has not been able to overcome it to this day.
Returning to the ceremony, Jafar murmured, "Actually, I haven't lived up to my name..."
"Do you want to cancel the ceremony?" Mu Yegui bent down slightly, leaned close to Jiafa'er's ear, and whispered.
“I…” Jafar’s mouth moved. He didn’t want to cancel, but did he really have the right?
“You did a great job,” Mu Yegui said.
Jafar trembled, something welling up inside him.
"When you are powerless to resist, you choose to protect yourself; when your weakness is threatened, you choose to leave to protect yourself; when others want to take you away, you know you have no right to resist, so you still choose to obediently protect yourself."
Although both choices appear to be passive, the second time you genuinely chose to leave, and you did a great job having the courage to do so. Therefore, your current achievements are all due to your own choices; Jafar is a very capable person.
It's normal to have feelings, weaknesses, and selfishness. Wasn't Ciel arrogant precisely because he committed the original sin of arrogance? No one will demand absolute selflessness from you, so Jafar, just follow your heart. In my eyes, you are not that rule-abiding White Knight, but simply my knight.
Cold fingertips traced his jawline, forcefully lifting his head. Crimson eyes reflected his exquisitely beautiful, doll-like face, and a faint smile appeared at the corner of his mouth, revealing his long-lost dimples.
He reached out and grabbed the sword at his waist, maintaining his kneeling posture, and held his personal sword above his head with both hands, presenting it to Mu Yegui.
"Here I offer you my sword, entrust my life to your hands, and offer you eternal loyalty and love. You will be my only master, and I am your sharpest sword, just like the sun's light contained within Garfal, cutting through all darkness to bring you hope. White Knight Garfal, I swear this."
Mu Yegui took out a pink rose from somewhere, plucked a petal, and stuck it onto the sword.
I accept your vow.
A blinding flash of light appeared, and the pink rose petals vanished without a trace.
Mu Yegui took the sword and drew it from its sheath. The silver blade gleamed with a slightly holy, cold light in the sunlight.
But she quickly sheathed it again.
Lanlos watched this scene quietly, picked up a book, and read a sentence that was complicated and difficult to understand.
[Contract successfully concluded.]
The ownership of White Knight-Gafar will be fully transferred to Nightmare-Muyegui.
