Chapter 487, page 2.1-16: The Crown: The Treasure of a Lost Dynasty
"Hmm..." Lachi frowned and slowly opened her eyes, only to be met with dim light.

He shifted slightly, and heard the cold clanging of chains in his ear.

She paused for a moment, then suddenly remembered that Bertias had led them to escape and then encountered Dionysus head-on, after which they had fainted due to Dionysus's magic.

So, has he been arrested?
Laki sat up and looked around, realizing they were in an iron cage, and with their abilities, there was no way they could escape.

"Are you awake?" A clear voice came from beside her. When Laki turned her head, she saw Bertias sitting to the side drinking.

Lachi frowned and subconsciously asked, "Are you alright...?" But as she spoke, she realized something was amiss. They were sitting inside the cage, while Dionysus was sitting outside, leisurely drinking wine, with patrolling soldiers walking past him.

"Hmm? Did you notice?" Beltias raised an eyebrow and smiled as he looked at her suddenly pale face.

"Why did you do this?!" Lachi demanded.

Aren't they companions?
Why should...

"Who said that entering a dungeon together makes you companions?" Beltias downed the wine in his cup in one gulp, casually placing it on the wine barrel. His white robes swayed slightly as he walked to the cage, bent down, and quietly watched them.

A hint of disdain flashed in his blue-gray eyes as he said in a low voice, "Did your vice president, Shui Qi, tell you what he did when he forced me to leave the Strategist Association?"

Bertias looked very thin, but her appearance was extremely outstanding, especially her unusual blue-gray hair, which was almost a sight to behold when it swayed gently in the breeze.

The beauty smiled gently, gazing at you quietly with her blue-gray eyes, easily forgiving him no matter what he did.

“I…” Rachel’s mouth moved, but for a moment she didn’t know how to answer Beltias. She had only vaguely heard that someone had betrayed the association and was wanted and hunted by the Water Spirit, but she had never thought about the reason.

"However, I'm not the type to hold grudges. I only captured you because the faction I chose in this instance just happens to be your enemy. No matter what happened, I'm your enemy now. You'd better think about how to escape."

Bertias tilted her head, her long blue-gray hair cascading down her shoulders, her eyes carrying a hint of imperceptible coldness and darkness, while the corners of her mouth were slightly upturned.

"Damn it! You did this on purpose!" If she had known this would happen, she should have listened to 'Daolin' and maybe she wouldn't have been caught.

Bertias straightened up, looked down at them, and said coldly, "As a burden, you should be more self-aware. It's only because Mu Yegui has a good temper that he doesn't get angry. If we were on the same side, I would have killed all of you who are dragging us down. Anyway, you're just a nuisance and too much of a hindrance."

That's why he hates working with others. He not only has to consider whether they will betray him, but also how much they will hold him back. Some people are so clever that they don't even realize how stupid they are.

"Pah! They're not even human..." Lachi spat angrily, speaking with disdain.

The next second, Bertias reached into the cage, his long fingers gripping Rachi's chin tightly, lifting her up little by little.

“I was never human to begin with. It was you humans who turned me into a monster that is nothing. So why should I coexist peacefully with you? You should be glad that I don’t have antisocial personality disorder, otherwise you would have died the moment you met instead of being left until now.”

The air gradually became humid, and a gentle breeze carried a hint of earthy scent.

The rain began to fall softly, wetting everyone. Glistening raindrops streamed down his long, flowing, beautiful blue-gray hair, gliding across his smooth, fair face, and down his sexy collarbone, soaking a patch of his clothes.

Her curled eyelashes were dotted with raindrops, and a few silver-blue fish scales suddenly appeared at the corners of her eyes, adding a touch of mysterious allure to her already beautiful face.

"Monster!" Rachi looked at the scales that had suddenly grown from the corner of Beltias's eye, her face turning pale with fear.

"You're the ones who turned me into a monster, so why are you afraid of me? Did I have a choice back then?" Bertias casually released Rachi and took a few steps back.

His blue-gray eyes were filled with sadness and madness. He chuckled softly, hugging himself and shaking his body with each hysterical laugh, giving off a terrifying feeling.

He looked up at the dark, empty night sky, a hint of sadness in his expression. Humans are indeed selfish; they never think they've done anything wrong, so he shouldn't have any expectations of them.

His blue-gray eyes glanced at the fish scales on his arm, filled with disgust. He slowly closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, only indifference remained.

He admitted that he had just lost control and even taken his anger out on others, but so what? He didn't think he had done anything wrong. Anyway, they were enemies now, and he didn't need to care about what others thought of him.

He heard the faint sound of water and the thud of something heavy hitting the ground. Bertias slowly turned around to look at the girl walking towards him, a gentle smile on his face. "You've come."

His expression clearly showed that he didn't care at all about the deaths of the soldiers around him, knowing that he was the only one still standing there.

"Bell, what mischief are you up to?" Mu Yegui stood in the rain, glancing up at Beltias's expression. Her soft, sweet voice was as calm as ever, without any extra emotion.

“There’s nothing here.” Bertias shook his head and chuckled. “Are you here to take this bunch of good-for-nothings away?”

"If the trash you're referring to are those four behind you, then that's certainly true. Can I take them with me?" Mu Yegui looked down at the small puddle on the ground, lifted her bare little foot and stepped on it. Water splashed up and floated in the air before slowly settling down.

“I’m afraid that won’t work,” Bertias said with a shrug and a light laugh.

"So, do you want me to take them away?" Mu Yegui asked as he played, stepping through the puddles and looking down at the splashing water.

"I can't beat you." That was the truth. He didn't even have the slightest thought of trying. When someone becomes so powerful that others are intimidated, they simply don't have the will to fight against them, and that's exactly what happened now.

Mu Yegui is too strong. He can handle any fight with others with ease and even has the mind to play around. How can you fight a guy like that?
"Can I take it with me?" Mu Yegui stopped what he was doing, his cool silver eyes looking quietly at Bertias as he asked.

Bertias: "..." He had been trying to divert Mu Yegui's attention, but the man was too determined, and the operation failed.

He sighed helplessly, shrugged, took two steps to the side, and whispered, "Take them away."

Bertias is very smart. Knowing that he can't beat him, he will never take the risk. So it's better to obediently give in, as getting injured would be too much of a loss.

In truth, Bertias didn't lose out. He at least managed to rescue a person from the clutches of a god, and even though the person was later abducted, it couldn't conceal the fact that he had captured someone.
