Chapter 1510 The Fall of Olympus (Part 7)
Zoe is a former military police officer who joined the LAPD after her discharge. Although she didn't start from the bottom, she has been on the front lines for many years.

Even after entering politics, she did not neglect her daily exercise routine, and even maintained a weekly shooting training habit.

But in front of Jack, Zoe rarely showed the strong woman she used to be. It wasn't to protect the little man's pride, but because this guy was indeed ridiculously strong, in every sense of the word.

When the alarm sounded that the White House was being invaded, Zoe immediately thought of Jack and, after receiving his call, promptly followed his advice and hid.

Then, in the final moments before the White House was breached, the magical "artificial intelligence" Kate contacted Zoe again, guiding her to hide in the "Lincoln Bedroom" on the second floor, and telling her that Jack had arrived.

The wait that followed was somewhat agonizing. A confined environment can gradually make one lose their sense of time, so Zoe had to force herself not to check the time on her phone too frequently.

Jack was getting impatient. The other side had clearly realized that there were still resistance fighters inside the White House, so they not only increased patrols but also sent out a search team.

Although he disposed of the body away from the stairwell after taking down a three-man patrol team, he was still blocked from moving by two guys smoking in the corridor after going up to the second floor.

Jack's earlier claim that he shut down the surveillance inside the White House was a lie. In fact, Kate took over after gaining access. Otherwise, no matter how high his perception was, he wouldn't have been able to bypass almost all the patrol teams like he had a cheat code.

Unfortunately, these two lazy guys had to stand in the hallway outside the "Lincoln Bedroom" to smoke, which was a terrible choice. After waiting for nearly 10 minutes, and seeing the two smokers smoking one cigarette after another, Jack finally decided not to wait any longer.

What are you two doing here?

The sudden, deep question startled the two smokers, but because the other person was speaking Korean, they hesitated as they instinctively raised their guns.

A dark shadow flew out rapidly from the darkness, accurately piercing the throat of the person in front. Before his companions behind him could react, Jack had already rushed in front of the two like an arrow.

The terrorist behind him had his gun blocked by his comrade's body. Just as he was about to turn aside and raise his gun again, he saw his comrade, who was slowly collapsing, fall straight towards him as if he had been hit by a train.

The weight of the human body, combined with the enormous potential energy, slammed him to the ground with a thud. Jack seized the opportunity to draw his knife, slightly tilting his head to avoid the blood, and swiftly thrust the dagger down again.

The terrorist, pinned to the ground, felt all the air squeezed out of his lungs. Before he could even try to breathe or call for help, he felt a sharp pain in his neck. The severed arteries and trachea expelled blood and breath, taking his life in the process.

Although the second-floor corridor was carpeted, the commotion was still quite loud. Jack didn't dare to delay, so he casually wiped the sticky blood off his hands and the dagger on the corpse before pushing open the door to the "Lincoln Bedroom".

The room was empty. Jack walked to the fireplace, which was clearly only decorative and faced the bed, and tapped it lightly on the wall twice.

Sensing some faint noises coming from behind the wall, he quickly called out in a low voice, "It's me, Zoe."

The wall panel next to the fireplace was pushed aside, revealing a dark hole. Before Jack could reach out to help, Zoe nimbly squeezed out and hugged him tightly.

"God, you really came to save me."

"Are you alright?" Jack gently brushed the spider web off the mature woman's head.

Although there wasn't much light in the room, the only light coming from the flashing "ambiance lights" of the police cars blocking off the oval lawn in the distance provided some red and blue illumination, which barely penetrated the thick curtains.

But compared to the impenetrable walls, leaving that place was still like seeing the light of day again for Zoe.

"I'm fine, thank you Jack." Zoe couldn't wait to give him a kiss, even though her ashes on her face looked a little funny.

“Let’s go, ‘First Husband,’ please allow me to see you off.” Jack teased with a smile.

Zoe looked puzzled upon hearing this, "What 'first husband'?"

After losing cell phone signal, she was cut off from the outside world and had no way of knowing the devastation at the Capitol, let alone the fact that the "designated survivor" system, which was originally just a precaution, would actually come into effect.

"Let's get out of here first. I might have alerted them." Jack pulled Zoe's hand and left the room. When they passed two corpses in the corridor, they stopped and lightly flicked a Victor submachine gun into their hands.

Jack bent down and tore off the bulletproof vest from the corpse. He then grabbed two magazines filled with .45 ACP bullets and handed them to Zoe, before continuing to pull her downstairs.

The white house has another floor underground, but it is not the underground fortress where "PEOC" is located. The latter is located deeper underground to withstand nuclear attacks.

The main rooms on the basement level of the White House include a lounge for the butlers and service staff, Secret Service offices, a laundry room, and a bowling alley. Jack's target is the laundry room, which has a tunnel built in the 20s that leads to the Treasury building.

Although the tunnel has been sealed off for a long time, it can be reopened with simple ventilation.

Just like the Kremlin in Russia has secret passages, the White House seems to be no exception. However, with the advancement of technology and the shift from Cold War to rhetoric between major powers, these shallow tunnels have long been abandoned.

Looking back now, it seems that the underground bunker, which was supposed to be able to withstand nuclear bombs, had the opposite effect. Even Jack couldn't do anything with his turtle shell; once the door was closed, the explosives couldn't open it.

Of course, he didn't really want to rescue the president either; if he did, the power that guy would wield would be unimaginable.

Admittedly, the president's entire leadership team, including the Secretary of State who was shot in the head, all but one Secretary of Defense died in the Capitol, but it is not difficult to reappoint a new batch of ministers.

It's important to understand that Congress is supposed to be the check and balancer between the president and the federal government. But now, apart from Senator Zoe and perhaps a few others who are absent or late, most of them are on Capitol Hill, "going down with the cabinet."

In other words, the president's power can be amplified almost infinitely before the states elect new members of Congress through a process of negotiation.

A more ambitious individual could easily pin a accusation on an adversary, declare a national emergency, and indefinitely delay the rebuilding of Congress, thereby gaining "unlimited power" that even President Roosevelt during World War II wouldn't have dared to dream of.

If that guy hadn't also been kidnapped and "locked" in "PEOC," Jack would have even suspected that he was colluding with the equally insane South Korean president in a charade.

Of course, Jack only had some doubts. After all, what happened on Capitol Hill was probably an accident, because no one could calculate that precisely. The AC130 that was shot down by the air-to-air missile just happened to crash into it, which was ridiculously accurate.

After moving two heavy, large dryers aside, Jack knocked gently on a wall for quite some time before finally finding the closed, rusty iron door.

Fortunately, Jack's previous "guerrilla warfare" had worked. Faced with his teammates being killed one after another, the armed men who occupied the White House seemed somewhat suspicious and began to gather together to conduct a thorough search.

However, they were clearly too reliant on internal surveillance. Instead of simply and directly cutting off the other party's signal, Kate overwrote and used the previous minute's recording footage when Jack passed by certain cameras.

After Jack passes by, these cameras will resume normal live images to avoid being detected, thus achieving a certain degree of physical "invisibility".

A special operations team from the FBI's own HRT (Hostage Rescue Team) appeared in the corridor, and after a brief exchange of passwords, the two sides made contact smoothly.

Before leaving, Zoe clearly had a lot to say to Jack, but she held back in the end. Although it was still debatable whether she should be called the "First Lady" or the "First Gentleman," she had to maintain an image in front of outsiders.

In the end, all the words boiled down to one sentence: "Be very careful, Jack."

Jack, who was asking the HRT team members for water and energy bars, turned to her and gave her a confident smile.

"Target delivered!" Inside the Pentagon's underground command center, a communications officer excitedly removed his headset and gave a thumbs-up to everyone through the glass.

"I don't understand, why not just launch an attack through that tunnel to rescue the president? Sergeant Major Jason Hayes and his SEAL team are already on the scene, aren't they?"

An official from the CIA asked, puzzled.

"Because we lack intelligence and time, and none of the special forces units have been trained to attack the White House, you at least need to give them time to memorize the architectural plans."

Moreover, the CIA has failed to provide any valuable intelligence to date; we don't even know the identity of our true adversary.

Dana Morge retorted without hesitation, "The only thing we're certain of right now is that they're deliberately stalling for time, but what is their purpose?"
Before we figure all this out, even if we retake the White House, what are your plans to do if the other side holds hostages and hides in 'PEOC' and refuses to come out?

The CIA official immediately deflated, touching his forehead and lamenting, "The military has been mobilized and taken control of the entire South Korean government, including their intelligence agency, but no one can explain what exactly happened. They've even accused us of making up stories."

Dana Morge rolled her eyes in exasperation, thinking to herself that if she hadn't seen it with her own eyes, she would have thought the scene was a fantasy.

"A communication request to access from 'PEOC'." The communications officer's report immediately made everyone present, who had just breathed a sigh of relief, anxious again.
