Chapter 1496 Chaos in the Special Zone (Part Two)

"Get in the alley on the right, quick!"

Following Kate's instructions, the "Mammoth," a vehicle over two meters wide, streaked across the road, its reinforced front bumper topped with a green steel trash can, and forced its way into a narrow alley.

As the buzzing sound above his head grew louder, Jack, though still unsure of what was happening, sensed that some kind of danger seemed imminent.

"Kate, what happened?"

“I don’t know, but an AC130U has just broken into the FRZ,” Kate replied, while playing a live monitoring video on the vehicle’s screen.

The footage appears to be from a bird's-eye surveillance camera installed on the top of a high-rise building. The camera, which should be looking down on the entire city from above, is now pointing towards the sky.

After a rapid zoom, the originally blurry image revealed a blue-gray painted gunship.

The image quality was quite clear; Jack could even clearly see the large letters USAF on the vertical tail fin, but this also meant that the other party was at a very low altitude.

After 9/11, the federal government established a Special Flight Rules Area (SFRA) in Washington, D.C., similar to an Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ), and further divided it into a more restrictive Restricted Flight Zone (FRZ).

The radius of “SFRA” is approximately 56 kilometers, while the radius of the “FRZ” area within it is approximately 30 kilometers. The area covered by FRZ is more sensitive than that of SFRA, and the restrictions are more stringent.

If an unnotified aircraft enters the "FRZ" area, a ground-based laser warning system will use flashing red and green lasers to warn the pilot directly.

It's almost fair to say that, apart from a few permitted aircraft such as helicopters carrying high-ranking government officials, as well as birds and balloons carried by tourists, there should theoretically be no flying objects in the downtown area of Washington, D.C.

But it is clear that this theory has now been broken.

The AC130 gunship, modified from the C130 Hercules transport plane, is very famous and should be memorable to anyone who has seen the first Transformers movie.

The AC130 is currently the only fire support unit capable of carrying a 105mm howitzer while flying in the air.

This weapon has appeared in many shooting games, but as far as Jack knows, it has only appeared in two movies: the first Transformers movie and Olympus Has Fallen, starring Johnny Depp.

But Jack hadn't heard that "Fallen Guy" had switched from being a commercial airline captain to a Secret Service agent. Ever since the island crash, he had maintained a private relationship with Captain Brandy Torrance, who was now almost retired.

Could it be another movie called "White House Down" that was released around the same time as "Olympus Has Fallen" and is often confused with "White House Down"?
But the scenes in that movie were significantly smaller, and there was no appearance of a powerful weapon like the AC130.

Before Jack could snap out of his reverie, a tongue of fire descended from the sky, lashing the road like the Grim Reaper's whip.

AC130U只在飞机一侧配备了三种不同的武器,分别是一挺GAU-12型五管25毫米转膛机炮,一门40毫米,射速为200每分钟的“博福斯”机炮以及M102型105毫米榴弹炮。

This trajectory, carrying tracer round indicators, clearly comes from the highest-rate-of-fire five-barrel 25mm rotary cannon, the same model as the Harrier II that Harry flew in Miami.

But even the smallest caliber weapon on a gunship can inflict damage that no carbon-based life form can withstand.

Moreover, the other side was clearly prepared this time, using not the bulky PGU-23 training rounds, but the genuine PGU-25 high-explosive incendiary rounds.

Where the "HEI" shells landed, the once peaceful street instantly turned into a raging inferno. The congested vehicles were set ablaze one by one, turning into a long, burning dragon almost the instant the flames swept over them. Although Jack had taken cover in an alley in his "Mammoth" beforehand, he could still feel the shrapnel from the exploding machine gun shells hitting the back of the truck with a clattering sound.

An even more terrifying sound came from overhead; the low rumble of the gunship's four propeller engines swept past like the roar of death.

"Kate, contact Zoe immediately." As Jack gave the order, he shifted into reverse and slammed on the gas, driving the "Mammoth" out of the alley.

The scene on the street was too horrific to bear; vehicles were burning, the injured were screaming in agony, and the chassis batteries of some electric cars were ignited, making a series of explosive sounds like fireworks.

Some cars had their fuel tanks punctured, and burning gasoline flowed freely on the road, with thick smoke and flames mercilessly engulfing everything.

“Jack!” As the call connected, a piercing alarm and Zoe’s slightly panicked voice entered Jack’s ears at the same time. “What’s going on outside? We’re ordered to go underground immediately.”

“An AC-130 gunship is approaching from low altitude and firing at the ground. Something’s wrong. Get away from the president and his security team. Go to the bottom floor and find a place to hide and wait for me.”

Inside the white house, Zoe, who was rushing towards the elevator under the escort of a group of Secret Service agents, paused, her gaze hesitantly falling on the back of a figure staggering forward, being supported by two agents.

Her husband's voice was still coming through the earphones, "Trust me, don't go underground. All the safety plans must be part of their plan. Find a place to hide, I'll be there in ten minutes."

“Madam!” The Secret Service agent at the back saw Zoe suddenly stop and quickly stepped forward to help her continue.

“Don’t worry about me.” Zoe pushed away the outstretched arm. “Protect your president. I’m just a senator.”

Almost in that brief moment of delay, a group of dignitaries, including the president and first lady, as well as the visiting presidential couple from the peninsula, had already disappeared around the corner of the corridor, surrounded by a group of secret agents.

The Secret Service agent hesitated for only a moment, glanced at Zoe who was standing still with the look of someone looking at a madwoman, and then quickly turned and chased after her.

Zoe promptly kicked off her high heels, randomly picked a room, turned the doorknob, and went straight in. "OK, I'm hiding, but how are you going to get in and find me?"

“Play it by ear.”

As Jack answered loudly, he swerved the steering wheel to avoid a panicked pedestrian on the sidewalk. The Mammoth's unreasonable torque propelled the car to smash open the front of a burning sedan, and it turned right onto Virginia Avenue.

Virginia Avenue, like Pennsylvania Avenue which Jack passed yesterday, appears on the map as two diagonal lines extending from the northeast corner of the city to the southeast corner.

Now, to his left is the White House and the national park in front of it, and to his right is the Lincoln Memorial and the long reflecting pool in front of it.

The AC130's attack posture involves using the low speed advantage of propeller aircraft to continuously turn sideways and circle, using the weapons on the left side of the fuselage to fire at the ground.

However, since it was modified from the C130 Hercules transport aircraft, its structural strength is generally not sufficient for high maneuverability. In addition, it is currently flying at an extremely low altitude, so Jack doesn't need to worry about the other side turning back to launch another barrage of fire at him for the time being.

The enemy's intention was clearly to deliberately create chaos. Apart from the 105mm howitzer, which remained inactive for some reason, the 25mm rotary cannon and the 40mm Bofors cannon were firing at the ground non-stop.

Rotary machine guns swept across the streets, while the Bofors unleashed a barrage of fire at various landmark buildings at an extremely high rate of fire.
