Mystery: Starting from Meeting Amon
Chapter 64 Bystanders
Chapter 64 Bystanders
Dunn Smith quickly kicked open the door and saw that the floor, piano, and ceiling were all covered with a bloody, sticky liquid with dense black short hairs.
Old Neil's gray head hung in the air, connected to the ceiling by thick mucus.
When Dunn came in, Old Neil's head had been blown open by the demon-hunting bullet, revealing white and red liquid.
On the table in the living room, there was a silver ring with intricate patterns. The power of the ring seemed to have been exhausted, and as the sticky blood-colored liquid contracted, it rolled off the table.
Klein watched all this in silence, watching Old Neil's "corpse" turn into a mass of rotting flesh and blood, with a pair of painful, dark red, crystal-clear eyeballs in the flesh and blood.
Dunn Smith looked at Old Neil's body. His figure was a little thin. He said silently to himself: "We are both guardians and poor creatures who are always facing danger."
……
Hilton District, Ault Street.
Lewis's spirituality was suddenly touched, and he found that a lucky charm had been used, and the user soon lost contact.
This reminded Lewis of Old Neil and Dunn Smith. His two talismans happened to be given to these two people, and now, one of them has already used the talisman.
"Their death will drive Klein's growth. Even if I try, I'll just be a bystander in a god's script, incompetent and powerless."
Lewis sighed. Before he had enough power, he could only choose to be a bystander of his fate.
Without any emotion, he observed the direction of fate numbly and calmly like a machine.
As he came to the conclusion, he noticed that there were illusory lights lighting up in front of him. Those lights were connected in a circle, forming a shape that was connected from beginning to end.
At this moment, he realized that he had completely digested the "machine" potion and could try to advance to Sequence Seven.
Boom boom boom!
There was a familiar knock on the door, and it took Lewis a minute to get rid of the feeling of digesting the potion. He picked up the newspaper and said in a deep voice, "Come in."
The person who pushed open the door was a man wearing gold-rimmed glasses, and Lewis recognized this person by inspiration.
"It should be the kidnapped person I rescued yesterday, Mr. Dick Yarlin. Is he here to pay the balance on behalf of his wife?"
"Please sit down." Lewis put down the newspaper, and when the other party sat down, he smiled and asked, "Sir, is there anything I can help you with?"
Dick Yarlin frowned. He carefully identified Lewis' voice and appearance, and it seemed that he was obviously different from the person who rescued him yesterday.
But he guessed that the person who saved him yesterday was most likely Lewis. It was too much of a coincidence that he was rescued by a strange person after Joan reported the case.
"Detective Lewis, this is the balance my wife owes you." Dick Yarlin took out three 10-pound notes from his bulging wallet and handed them to Lewis.
"I don't think the balance will be that much, even though I've made a lot of preparations for this case." Lewis put the 30-pound note into his wallet and politely declined the offer. After all, if you don't take advantage of a good deal, you're a fool.
"In addition to the final payment, I would like to invite you to investigate another matter." Dick glanced at Blau, and only spoke slowly until Blau went to boil water, "I want to investigate my wife's infidelity."
“Huh?” Lewis frowned, and he expressed his doubts bluntly. A man who went to the Eros Center for fun actually said he wanted to investigate his wife’s cheating?
Why do I feel like your family is a little messy? Is this an unhappy marriage, with both of you cheating on each other?
"Can you tell me more?" Lewis suppressed his curiosity and took the tea brewed by Blau and handed it to Mr. Dick. "My wife and I have been married for a long time. Just last month, I heard from the neighbors that my wife often went out wearing the dress I bought for her." Dick explained, "She has been much colder towards me recently. She is no longer like when we first got married, always hugging me before going out, always asking if I was working hard, and always making my favorite Dixie pie for me."
"Do you have any personal belongings of Ms. Joan? Or even a strand of hair will do. A detective who is good at substitutional reasoning can easily guess a person's current state through such items." Lewis asked. He didn't want to be misunderstood by Dick again, so he added the last sentence as a supplement.
"I think I should be able to get it, and I'll give it to you when the time comes." Dick nodded and agreed.
He wanted to thank Lewis, but after thinking about it, he realized that Lewis obviously didn't want to be recognized by him.
"He is obviously the best detective, but his reputation is so poor. There are very few detectives with such noble character as Mr. Lewis." Dick praised secretly.
Lewis asked some other questions and then sent the other party away.
"It's really interesting. Ms. Joan asked me to find her missing husband, but her husband asked me to investigate Ms. Joan's cheating."
Drinking black tea, Lewis couldn't help but sigh at the love of this couple.
Sure enough, love cannot stand the test.
"So, I choose to be a person who focuses on sex rather than heart. Many things will have to wait until I find my sister Mandy." Lewis took a sip of red tea. He did not intend to refuse Dick's commission.
The customer is God, and he has no reason to refuse God's request.
Until the evening, Lewis did not encounter another business. After all, detective is such a profession.
They can be closed for a week, or open for a week.
At night, Lewis changed into work clothes and went to the Brave Bar.
Pushing open the shutters of the bar, he saw Maric quietly sipping beer, and occasionally looking out the door vigilantly.
It was not until he saw Lewis that Maric started to get nervous. He silently swallowed a sip of beer and watched Lewis go to House of Cards No. 3.
"Mr. Caspers, I'm here to attend the party." Lewis took off his hat and saluted.
"I hope you didn't forget to bring your mask," Caspers reminded.
"Of course." Lewis shrugged. He forgot nothing except for wrapping the Azik copper whistle with his spirituality.
"Yes, wrap the Azik copper whistle with spirituality!" Lewis suddenly realized, and he suddenly understood Maric's abnormality.
Is this because he has been beaten by zombies several times and has learned his lesson? So Maric is being alert to himself today?
"Let him stay, and you follow me." Kaspers pointed at Blau, who limped ahead and led the way.
"Wait a minute, I want to take him to the party." Lewis took out two pounds with embarrassment. If Brough was 20 meters away from him, perhaps this bar would be affected by Brough's bad luck and eventually destroyed.
