Mystery: Starting from Meeting Amon
Chapter 17 The Night's Watch
Chapter 17 The Night's Watch
Lewis's head was about to explode with fear, and he heard endless whispers in his ears. They belonged to Amon, and were a suppression from his status. He took a step back and hurriedly pulled out a gun from his gun bag and pointed it at Amon.
"I look forward to you coming to me." Amon looked at the sky and smiled calmly. He opened his mouth and slowly uttered a sentence: "You and I are always under the watchful eyes of the night."
As Amon's voice fell, his body disappeared piece by piece as if being erased by an eraser. At the end of the alley, there seemed to be a young lady in nun's clothes smiling at him, but it was only a momentary illusion.
Lewis came back to his senses, he nodded four times on his chest, and said solemnly: “…Night is above, praise you, goddess.”
At this moment, his faith in the goddess had never been so devout.
As the battle ended, Lewis heard the footsteps of pedestrians again, and the surrounding environment became chaotic, indicating that the things stolen by Amon had returned.
Lewis went back to the spot and picked up the black top hat. He suppressed his inner joy and pretended to be nonchalant as he walked back home.
Now that the things stolen by Amon have returned, it is time for Mandy, who has disappeared for a long time, to go home. Influenced by the original owner of the body, Lewis felt the long-lost excitement.
I really want to drink a bowl of tomato beef soup cooked by Mandy, then eat a sandwich filled with chicken, and fall asleep to Mandy's gentle voice.
Of course, this has a prerequisite, that is, he must meet the real Mandy, not the impostor pretended by Amon.
Pushing open the door to the Night Vanilla block again, the feeling of danger had disappeared. Lewis went back to the room and looked, but Mandy was not there.
"Let's go out and look for it."
After sitting in the empty room for a while, Lewis began to get impatient and went to the bank where Mandy used to work according to his memory.
Unfortunately, it was almost completely dark at this time and even the banks were closed.
"Hello, is Ms. Mandy Harvey home yet?" Lewis met a slightly plump gentleman. He knew that this was Mandy's colleague Faulkner Ben, and he had a good relationship with Mandy.
"Mandy Harvey?" Faulkner touched his hairless head and said in embarrassment, "Sir, I don't think I know Mandy Harvey. Who are you?"
Lewis froze in place, the hairs on his back stood up one by one, and he felt an indescribable malice.
“Sorry, I recognized the wrong person.” Lewis lowered his head and turned away.
"What a weird person, Mandy Harvey?" Faulkner got on the carriage on the side of the road, and the carriage started running, making a series of familiar sounds.
Lewis wandered aimlessly in the streets, not knowing what went wrong, but thought of what Amon said before he disappeared.
"Looking forward to seeing you next time? Is that what you mean?"
Lewis laughed at himself. Although he didn't know what Amon was thinking, he would never go looking for Amon. With his own strength, he could also find Mandy.
After returning home, Lewis went to Mandy's room, found the necklace that Mandy often wore, and entered a trance state.
"Mandy Harvey is still alive..."
After reciting it three times, Lewis saw the necklace rotate clockwise, and then swayed. The divination was disturbed again, or the preconditions were insufficient and the divination could not be performed.
"Mandy Harvey's location."
After writing down the divination statement, Lewis held the necklace in his hand and then lay down on Mandy's bed. He wanted to use dream divination.
Closing his eyes, Lewis gradually entered a state of emptiness.
Passing through the white light in front of him, Lewis arrived at an extremely dark place. There was no sun or moon in the sky. Only the lightning across the sky could bring bursts of light, allowing him to see the situation clearly.
"The God-Forsaken Land!" Lewis subconsciously shouted out his guess. If Amon hid Mandy in the God-Forsaken Land, then the pendulum divination method would indeed be disturbed, because the evil god, the real creator, was sleeping in the God-Forsaken Land.
Walking around, Lewis began to look around, holding on to the only glimmer of hope left, hoping that Mandy was still alive and healthy, and had not turned into a monster or been contaminated.
The lightning subsided and Lewis was plunged into complete darkness, but then a light flashed before his eyes and Mandy appeared in sight in a white dress.
“Sister!” Lewis walked forward, his face slightly flushed with excitement. This was a good dream.
"We meet again, my dear brother." Mandy took out a monocle from somewhere, put it on his right eye and squeezed it.
Lewis twitched his lips, and the beautiful dream instantly turned into a nightmare. His dream divination pointed to Amon. Fortunately, he had already guessed that there might be something wrong with the divination, so he did not show panic.
"Where on earth did you take Mandy? Blasphemer, Amon." Lewis suppressed his anger and asked.
"I stole Mandy Harvey's destiny. So, no matter what method you use to look for it, it will eventually lead to me." Amon conjured up a square table and several benches. Several clones gradually solidified their figures. While shouting one, two, three, they began to busily boil water and prepare tableware.
Soon, steaming coffee was placed on the square table. Mandy put three sugar cubes into the black tea and stirred it with a spoon.
"I think you should listen to my conditions." Mandy took a sip of coffee, put the coffee cup down, and said slowly: "When you choose a certain path, your friends and enemies are destined."
"You are the destiny path, and I am the error path. We are not enemies, we can even be friends, Lewis." Mandy explained: "Maybe you can't see your destiny clearly yet, but as long as you become my dependent, I will return Mandy to you and can also help you solve some 'small problems'."
"Become your dependent?" Lewis couldn't help but think of Klein's experience and sneered, "I will bear the price of fate, and you will inherit the dividends, right?"
"You are more knowledgeable than I thought, and you know more." Mandy couldn't help but applaud and said with emotion: "That is indeed my usual approach, but you are different. Not only will I not steal your destiny, I will also help you become a god."
“I’m sorry, I can’t agree to your request.” Lewis didn’t believe Amon at all. He had no desire to continue the conversation. After exiting the dream, he opened his eyes, looked at the cedar ceiling, and sighed.
It might be difficult for him to find Mandy using divination, so he had to think of other ways.
At present, it seems that if there is a true god willing to help him deal with Amon, he will find Mandy soon. But it is obvious that he cannot afford the price that the true god needs to pay.
Or maybe he would make good use of the method of acting and work hard to digest the potion until one day, he would become a god.
