Chapter 1939 As Wish Fulfilled

Chapter 1939 As Wish Fulfilled
“Compared to my identity, I think General Mo has something more to explain, doesn’t he?” Fang Zilan said calmly, but Mo Yang’s face turned cold. “What do you mean by that?”

"The reason I am here at Mushan Pass is because someone told me that General Mo has rebelled." Fang Zilan raised her eyes to look at the person in the main seat. "My purpose in coming here is to find out the truth."

“You…” Mo Bin stared at her blankly, “How could you…”

“Therefore, General Mo,” Fang Zilan interrupted Mo Bin calmly, her expression sharp, “regarding the rebellion, don’t you have anything to say to me?”

"What rebellion?" Mo Bin composed himself and said coldly, "Even if this matter is completely fabricated, and even if it were true with other underlying reasons, why should I explain it to you?"

“General Mo, if you were willing to tell the truth, perhaps I could still protect the Mo family.” A hint of regret flashed in Fang Zilan’s eyes as she whispered, “What a pity.”

"You still claim you're not one of Prince Rong'an's men." Mo Yang glared at her fiercely. "You keep talking about General Mo's rebellion, but I think you're clearly someone Prince Rong'an sent to test my father. Otherwise, why are you so reluctant to reveal your identity?"

"I refused to reveal my identity to avoid unnecessary trouble," Fang Zilan said, shrugging. "However, if you insist on asking, I might tell you for Mo Han's sake."

All eyes involuntarily turned to Mo Han, who pursed his lips, looking quite troubled. "Sister Lan, I..."

He was about to say something when Fang Zilan interrupted him calmly, "It's alright. Since you trust your family, I'm willing to take the gamble with you."

"You mean, Han'er knows your identity?" Mo Bin's incredulous gaze darted back and forth between Fang Zilan and Mo Han, only to see Fang Zilan nod gracefully, "That's right."

"When did you find out?" Mo Yang pressed Mo Han, who was sitting next to him. He hesitated and opened his mouth, but couldn't say anything.

"When and how did Mo Han find out? What's the point of asking these questions now?" Fang Zilan said casually, trying to help Mo Han out of the predicament. "Even if we told you, what difference would it make?"

"You!" Mo Yang's expression suddenly turned cold. He angrily flicked his sleeve, stood up, walked up to her, looked down at her, and asked, "Who exactly are you?"

Fang Zilan pursed her lips, about to say something, when a flustered voice came in, "Master, the special envoy sent by the Emperor to the Southeast has arrived!"

Hearing the voice, everyone in the room looked towards its source, only to see Da Kuan running breathlessly to the front of the hall. "Master, the special envoy is already outside the door, and we dare not stop him..."

Fang Zilan and Awan exchanged glances, both seeing a hint of doubt in each other's eyes. How could this special envoy have arrived so quickly in just a few days? Was Li Shengxuan impatient, or had someone else pulled some strings?
"General Mo, why are you staying indoors?" A clear voice came from the courtyard. Fang Zilan subconsciously looked over and saw a man in blue walking gracefully towards her. The man had a handsome face and his every move was elegant and natural. The words she had just heard came from him.

Not far behind him, soldiers stood in neat rows, all from the Southeast Camp.

Upon seeing this, Fang Zilan's heart tightened. This person possessed no white jade tiger tally, yet could mobilize troops from the southeastern camp. It seemed this special envoy's power might not be less than hers. If so, protecting the Mo family would be difficult.

Mo Bin remained calm and allowed the man in blue to enter. The man walked up to Fang Zilan and bowed respectfully, saying, "Southeast Special Envoy Su Yun greets Duke Fang of Yue."

Su Yun? Fang Zilan quickly searched her memory for information related to this name, and soon remembered that he was Su Yun, a descendant of the Su family, one of the nine high-ranking officials, and an imperial censor. A mere civil official, yet he could mobilize troops? This was interesting.

Thinking this, Fang Zilan stood up and replied, "Lord Su, there's no need for such formality. You've come from afar; you must be tired."

Her imposing and serious demeanor stunned the surrounding Mo family members, leaving them speechless. After a long while, Mo Bin finally asked in a daze, "You are the new Duke of Yue, Lady Fang Zilan?"

"Yes." Fang Zilan glanced at him, then her gaze returned to Su Yun. "Since His Majesty has sent Lord Su here, it must be for important matters. What is it?"

Su Yun said calmly, "Lord Fang has been missing since leaving the Southeast Camp. His Majesty is concerned about him and specially ordered me to travel day and night to Mushan Pass to help Lord Fang deal with the Mo family's affairs."

Fang Zilan raised an eyebrow at him, "In that case, I wonder how Lord Su plans to help me deal with the Mo family's affairs?"

Su Yun spoke each word indifferently, "Mo Bin rebelled, and the entire Mo family was executed."

Upon hearing this, Madam Hu took a step back in disbelief, and Mo Bin quickly supported her. Mo Yang wanted to say something, but Mo Han stopped him, shaking his head to signal Mo Yang not to speak.

"Lord Su, are you trying to take my side?" Fang Zilan's expression was cold. Su Yun cupped his hands and said, "Of course I wouldn't dare. However..."

"Since you dare not, then step back." Fang Zilan interrupted him, and said solemnly, "There are other hidden reasons for the Mo family's affairs. I have already sent someone back with the white jade tiger tally to report the news. It is not too late to take action after informing His Majesty."

Su Yun stared intently at the person before him, then suddenly a slight smile appeared on his lips. "Lord Fang, are you going to defy His Majesty's orders?"

“His Majesty wants your help, not your replacement,” Fang Zilan said, her face as cold as ice. “How I act is none of anyone else’s business.”

Su Yun's smile remained unchanged. "Lord Fang, are you trying to protect the Mo family with these actions?"

"Whether I protect the Mo family or not is none of your business," Fang Zilan said, a hint of malice flashing in her eyes. Su Yun's smile widened. "Lord Fang, whether the Mo family can be protected or not is not up to you."

After saying this, he stopped smiling, took out an imperial edict from his sleeve, and said, "His Majesty has decreed that Mo Bin has rebelled, and the entire Mo family shall be executed. Execute immediately."

As soon as he finished speaking, the soldiers who had been guarding outside rushed in like a tidal wave. The Mo family members inside the hall had no idea what was going on and could only let themselves be taken down.

"Wait!" Fang Zilan shouted, stopping the soldiers' movements. "The White Jade Tiger Tally is not here. By what right does Lord Su command the troops of the Southeast Camp? Even if Lord Su is acting on His Majesty's orders, this is still an overstepping of authority."

Her words struck at Su Yun's Achilles' heel. His official mission was to supervise her execution of the Mo family members. If she insisted on refusing and he carried out the execution, it would be illegitimate and he would inevitably be accused of overstepping his bounds, drawing criticism from others.
