The Hogwarts Emerald

Chapter 67 Daily life

Chapter 67 Daily life
When the soft sunlight in the early morning shone on Ada's face, she just woke up from her sleep. She had slept well that night.

Ginny was still sleeping, with no intention of waking up, and Ada did not try to wake her up. Young people always need a lot of sleep, and there was nothing to do after getting up, so it was better to let her sleep a little longer.

Ada walked down the stairs with a staggering step. In the small kitchen, Mrs. Weasley was busy making breakfast. The dishes in the sink were washing themselves automatically, making a tinkling sound, which seemed much more convenient than the automatic dishwasher.

Mr. Weasley was enjoying his breakfast with today's edition of the Daily Prophet beside him. No one else had gotten up yet, and only the couple were in the kitchen.

"Ada, come down and have dinner." Mrs. Weasley, who was frying sausages, saw Ada, "After dinner, you and Arthur will go to London together."

"Good morning, Mr. Weasley, Mrs. Weasley." Ada came to the kitchen, pulled out a chair at the dining table and sat down.

"You are such a troublesome child. It would be so easy for you to stay at home and study at this age, but you insist on working in Diagon Alley." Mrs. Weasley said with concern.

Ada laughed it off and didn't continue discussing the matter with Mrs. Weasley.

Both of them had the same idea, but they looked at things from different angles. Mrs. Weasley believed that students should study instead of thinking about other things, and Hogwarts provided Ada with relief every year to help her complete her studies, so she did not support Ada going out to work.

"I think it's good. Ada is so smart that even if she goes out to work, it won't affect her studies." Mr. Weasley turned his eyes away from the Daily Prophet. "And Dumbledore has no intention of letting Ada quit her job."

Hearing that Dumbledore agreed, Mrs. Weasley said nothing more. She put two fried eggs and eight or nine fried sausages on Ada's plate, filling the entire plate.

"Eat more, and don't work too hard at Flourish and Blotts. There are so many employees there anyway, so it doesn't matter if you're missing one." Mrs. Weasley reminded Ada, "I've prepared your lunch, remember to take it with you when you leave."

Slacking off at work has always been something that people learn naturally; it just depends on how good the technique is. Ada is very good at slacking off and doesn't need Mrs. Weasley's advice at all.

After clearing the plates, Ada went upstairs to wash and change her clothes, leaving the Weasleys in the kitchen again.

"Molly, I can see that Ada doesn't want to cause us too much trouble, so she insisted on working. This is also the reason why she didn't write to Fred and George." Mr. Weasley put down the newspaper in his hand. He saw it very clearly.

"I know, but I think this child has a hard time." Mrs. Weasley said softly as she sat on the chair, "It's really pitiful to see how sensible she is at such a young age."

Mr. Weasley held Mrs. Weasley's hand and whispered, "It is precisely because we feel that she has a hard time and is pitiful that we have to take better care of her so that this child will no longer feel lonely."

Mrs. Weasley, who was sitting there, was no longer satisfied with her tears staying in her eyes. Mr. Weasley showed her Dumbledore's letter last night. She already knew Ada's tragic past. At the same time, she was the mother of seven children, so she felt even more distressed for Ada.

"Don't tell the other children about Ada's matter. Just let them continue to get along like this. Children like her are often very sensitive inside..." Mr. Weasley reached out to wipe his wife's tears.

"You don't have to tell me that," Mrs. Weasley slapped his hand away.

When Ada returned downstairs in a dark blue robe, she had no idea about the conversation the couple had just had, nor did she see any signs of crying on Mrs. Weasley's face.

Mrs. Weasley gave the two lunch money to Ada and Mr. Weasley, and then watched Mr. Weasley go into the fireplace first. After the flame turned green, Mr. Weasley disappeared with a whoosh.

"See you tonight, Mrs. Weasley."

Ada hugged Mrs. Weasley goodbye. She picked up a handful of shiny powder from the flowerpot and threw it into the flame. With a whoosh, the fire turned emerald green. Ada went straight into the flame, said "The Leaky Cauldron", and disappeared into the Burrow.

Ada felt very uncomfortable when she was moving by Floo powder. Her body seemed to be spinning rapidly, and the whistling sound beside her ears was deafening. She kept spinning and spinning, and after seeing a series of furnace doors flashing by, she finally arrived at the Leaky Cauldron. Mr. Weasley and Tom were standing by the fireplace chatting. When he saw Ada come out, Mr. Weasley smiled and asked, "How do you feel about your first Floo powder trip?"

Seriously, can't wizards use some earthly things when traveling? Although this Floo powder is convenient, it takes a while to get used to the dizzy feeling.

"It's not good. If I turn for a while longer, I'll vomit my breakfast." Ada's face was a little pale, and the feeling of dizziness had not yet dissipated.

After handing Ada a glass of water, Mr. Weasley left the Leaky Cauldron. He was going to work at the Ministry of Magic. Since they had already arrived at Diagon Alley, there was no need for him to send Ada to Flourish and Blotts before leaving.

Ada was busy in the bookstore all morning, and she would go to pick up the books one by one as the orders came in via owls. Some owls were difficult to get along with and would peck people, but Ada was not a pushover either, and she would pluck the feathers of any owl that dared to peck her.

At noon, Ada had lunch with several younger wizards in the store. Mrs. Weasley's bacon sandwiches tasted good and were large in size. These sandwiches swept away Ada's fatigue from the morning.

Working at Flourish and Blotts didn't actually teach Ada anything useful. Most of the books sold in the bookstore could be found in the Hogwarts library. There were many books in the bookstore, but Ada couldn't read them all she wanted. She could only take the books on order.

If the owner of Flourish and Blotts Bookstore had not been the first person to offer Ada a job, Ada would have quit her job and devoted herself to becoming a promising and interesting bartender.

At around four o'clock in the afternoon, Ada walked into the Leaky Cauldron with a smile on her face, and several regulars of the bar greeted Ada.

"Ada is a little late today."

"I thought you wouldn't come today. I even missed one drink."

Customers who often come to the bar have a good impression of Ada. If they haven't seen her for a long time, they will naturally ask Tom. Tom, the bar owner, also told everyone that Mr. Weasley took Ada home.

The guests who came to the Leaky Cauldron were all there to drink. They were not interested in the relationship between Ada and Weasley. They just regarded Ada as a distant relative of the Weasley family.

The Weasley family is one of the most prestigious families in the wizarding world. There are many family members, and Arthur Weasley is just one of them. It is not surprising that they have such thoughts.

Ada still stood at the bar as before, warmly greeting the guests coming and going, chatting with familiar guests, and preparing their usual drinks for them.

But today Ada didn't help out in the bar as usual. She only stayed in the Leaky Cauldron for more than an hour before leaving.
Although the guests were reluctant to leave, no one would stop her from going home for dinner. Before Ada went into the fireplace, the guests raised their glasses to say goodbye to her.

Ada was mentally prepared when she used Floo Powder for the second time, so the dizziness this time was not as strong as the first time, and she no longer wanted to empty her stomach.

The first thing Ada saw when she returned to the Burrow was the Weasley family sitting together. She greeted every member of the family with a smile. It felt very strange.

After pouring the Floo powder she bought when she got home from get off work into the flowerpot, Ada walked over and sat down. After Mr. Weasley came back, everyone could eat.

After a while, Mr. Weasley, who looked exhausted, came back. As soon as he opened the door, he said to everyone, "Good evening, children!"

"Good evening, Dad." Ada also mingled among the children and responded with a smile, but she did not call Mr. Weasley Dad.
