The Hogwarts Emerald
Chapter 66: Saint Catchpole's Night
Chapter 66: Saint Catchpole's Night
The fat chickens pecking at food in the yard have returned to their roosts, and the night in the humble abode is peaceful.
Everything was quiet, and the only lunatics who went out for a walk instead of sleeping were Ada and the twins. The night sky was dotted with stars, and the three of them were walking in the garden. They hadn't seen each other for just over a week, but it felt like a long time ago that they were together like this.
The Weasley brothers walked lazily in front, and Ada followed behind them. The garden was large, overgrown with weeds, and it was time to trim it. It looked a bit messy, but not unpleasant.
There are many tangled trees surrounding the base of the wall, and a large green pond with many frogs croaking in it. This is exactly what a summer night should look like.
"We're angry!" Fred said angrily.
"Very angry!" George was also very angry when this matter was mentioned.
At the beginning, Ada thought about writing a letter to the twins to tell them about her situation at the time, but the Weasley family was a large family, and Ada really didn't want to trouble Mrs. Weasley, so after hesitating for a long time, Ada gave up the idea.
In fact, there is another way, that is, Ada writes a letter directly to Professor McGonagall, who may take her directly to his home after receiving the letter.
This method has obvious advantages and disadvantages. Living in McGonagall's home, Professor McGonagall will definitely provide one-on-one tutoring for Ada, and the Kitty Cat Class will be open again. However, given Professor McGonagall's personality, Ada's holiday may not be so easy, and she can forget about working and studying.
That's why Ida was so determined not to tell anyone and just stayed at the Leaky Cauldron. If it weren't for Old Tom's meddling, Ida probably wouldn't have been discovered until the start of school.
Ada thought carefully about what Ollivander said in the wand shop. She was also afraid that she would lose her original intention because of the temptation of power. With the company of the twins and the meticulous care of the Weasleys, Ada felt less lonely in her pursuit of power.
Ada walked in the garden with a smile on her face, her best friend walking in front of her and the Burrow right behind her. No amount of sweet butterbeer could give Ada this feeling.
It was all so nice that she could walk peacefully through the summer evenings at Ottery St. Catchpole, thanks to Tom.
"We also want to live outside."
"There must be a breath of freedom there."
The twins looked longingly at the outside world. To them, it was very exciting and attractive. The helplessness of the outside world was not even within their consideration.
"I also secretly drank sherry and fire whiskey." How bad is Ada, can she let the twins fantasize comfortably?
"Mrs. Weasley should be told about this..." said Fred.
"That's right, let this lady know the good things Miss Trist did." George agreed.
"She won't even let us drink Butterbeer!" the twins said together. "She thinks we'll get into trouble if we drink too much!"
The twins were filled with resentment. If it didn't snow soon, it would mean that Merlin was not giving them face and was doing something behind their backs.
"I think Mrs. Weasley is right," said Ada. "You will get into trouble even if you don't drink. If you drink too much, the scene will be unimaginable. If Dumbledore was in front of you, you would probably pull out all his beard!"
To be honest, Ada is quite curious about what Dumbledore looks like without a beard. Why not try it some other day?
"You still don't know us well enough." Fred patted Ada's shoulder and said.
"If you know us well enough, you will know that not only our beards but also a single hair left will make us lose," George said arrogantly.
Just think about Dumbledore appearing in the image of a duck egg at the opening banquet. This will definitely solidify his reputation as an old madman among the freshmen. It's quite exciting.
"Tell me what those wines taste like?" Fred really wanted to try them. Being able to drink is one of the signs of growing up.
"It's just so-so. I don't think it tastes that good. I still prefer iced pear juice."
George said dissatisfiedly: "How can juice compare to whiskey? A real man should drink whiskey!"
"Have you heard of vodka?" Ada asked disapprovingly, "Wizards of the fighting nation love this kind of wine the most, and they drink it directly without adding anything!"
"Forget it, Butterbeer is pretty good."
"Are we the only ones living around here?" Ada asked. The Burrow was protected by magic. No matter how strange its shape was, no Muggle would see it. Even the postman couldn't find it. "How could that be? There are Muggles too. They all live in the village." Fred's answer was really annoying. He knew Ada was asking if there were other wizards living around here, but he still chose this answer.
"There's a wizarding family a few miles from here. Their son is in the same grade as us, Cedric Diggory from Hufflepuff," George said, pointing in a direction.
"Is that the handsome boy from Hufflepuff?" Ada had some impression of him, a handsome boy with a sunny personality.
"Handsome? What do you mean by that?" Fred said speechlessly, "He's just a pretty boy! Only brainless girls like you would like him."
Fred simply knocked down Ada's swinging fist. As Ada grew bigger, her fighting power was getting further and further away from the twins.
"The Fawcetts live around here too," Fred went on.
"The Lovegood family lives on a mountain. Their house is extremely strange, and their people are also very strange," George said, pointing to a hill in another direction.
Ada and her family didn't know these two families, and had never even heard of them. She said, "Why don't we take some time to visit Diggory's house? After all, they are classmates."
"No, we are not interested in a model student like Cedric." The twins walked forward with their arms around each other, ignoring Ada behind them.
"Forget it. I don't really want to go anyway. Work is very tiring." Ada had to move her legs repeatedly to barely keep up with the twins.
George stopped and asked, "You still have to go to work? It's better to live here. We can play together during the day. Why go to work?"
"Of course it's to support myself, otherwise what else is it for."
Fred also said, "Don't you have relief money? This should be enough for you to buy things for school."
"I have to buy something else. I need accommodation at Hogwarts, and I can't work during the week. If I don't make some money during the holidays, what will I do after graduation?" Ada said.
"You always think so much, aren't you tired?"
"You'll get sick if you think too much."
Because the twins stopped, Ada walked to the front instead. She turned back and said to the two of them, "I just want to make myself feel better, and Flourish and Blotts Bookstore and the Leaky Cauldron are both interesting."
"Come on, let's go back. You should go to bed early so that you will have energy tomorrow." George took the lead and walked towards the house.
"I was thinking of taking you to catch goblins tomorrow, but let's talk about it later when we have the chance. Let's go!" Fred also turned around and went back.
Ada followed him back and said, "I'll buy you gifts when I get my salary!"
"A broomstick?" George asked.
"There's no need for a halo, a sweep or comet will do." Fred said as if he was considering Ada.
"You two think I look like a flying broom, sweeping across, a comet... I only have butterbeer, drink it if you want!"
The twins responded in unison. "Drink, why not? And drink to your heart's content."
When Ada returned to Ginny's bedroom, she had fallen asleep, and the pink rose was placed beside her pillow. I don't know what the little girl dreamed about, but she had a sweet smile on her face.
The bright moonlight poured into the room. Ada lay comfortably on the bed. She did not put her wand under the pillow but threw it on the table. The Burrow gave her a great sense of security. Ada could sleep soundly again.
"Goodnight Ginny, goodnight Weasley, goodnight The Burrow," Ada murmured to herself while lying on her back, "and, goodnight Esmeralda..."
