The Hogwarts Emerald

Chapter 55 Awakening

Chapter 55 Awakening
During the time that Ada was sleeping soundly in the school infirmary, Benedict Foley had already received the punishment he deserved.

After escorting the twins back to the common room, Professor McGonagall sent a letter to the current minister Fudge. Professor Fudge, who was far away in London, did not delay after receiving the letter. He immediately set off for Hogwarts, accompanied by several Aurors.

Fudge and Professor McGonagall went directly to the Headmaster's office to see Dumbledore. The current Minister only talked to Dumbledore for less than half an hour before leaving.

The new minister had no doubts about Dumbledore's words and even asked Dumbledore for his advice, as if Dumbledore was the minister and he was just the minister's senior assistant.

But Dumbledore did not give any advice, he let Fudge handle it himself. Dumbledore had no intention of seizing power, he could help Fudge to secure the position of Minister of Magic, but he did not want to make decisions for the Minister.

Dumbledore's abilities in every aspect were far superior to Fudge's. If he wanted to be the minister, Fudge would not have been in the position. But Dumbledore did not want to be the minister, nor did he want to turn the minister into his puppet.

Power is a good thing, but it is too easy to be obsessed with it. Dumbledore once fell into it, and now he does not want to repeat the mistakes of his youth. He can no longer afford the cost of making mistakes.

Foley was imprisoned in his former office, his wand was confiscated, and the magical vines still bound him tightly. Hagrid was holding his giant crossbow in the office, and he was assigned by Dumbledore to guard the unconscious Foley.

Aurors were sent by Fudge to escort Foley. They took the prisoner from Hagrid and sent him directly to Azkaban without any trial. What awaited Foley was the terrifying Dementors and a long sentence.

Many prisoners in Azkaban become insane because they cannot stand the Dementors. Losing one's life is not a big deal here. This is a prison that makes everyone feel terrified.

Maybe Foley would wake up when the escort team flew over the North Sea, or maybe he would wake up when he was locked up in the cell of Azkaban. But in either case, Foley would not get the "welcome" he wanted.

As a staunch follower of Voldemort and the attacker of two Hogwarts students, these two crimes were enough to keep him in Azkaban until old age. If he had any other unknown crimes, he could have simply chosen a pit here as his grave.

When Ada was asleep, the twins stayed by her side except for classes and sleep. Going to class was Professor McGonagall's order, and the twins dared not disobey it blatantly; and when it was curfew time at night, Madam Pomfrey would rudely drive the brothers away.

So the twins didn't have much time to stay in the school infirmary. In order to stay with Ada, they not only didn't go to Quidditch training, but even gave up their favorite pranks.

It was already the third night when Ada woke up. The moment she opened her eyes, she naturally saw the twins guarding the bedside.

"Good evening, brave Miss Trist." Fred greeted Ada with a smile. He picked up a piece of apple pie from the small table beside the bed and handed it to Ada.

"Brave but foolish Miss Drizzt, would you like a glass of water?" George poured a glass of water and placed it on the small table.

After sleeping for so long, Ada was naturally hungry. Her stomach had already made a growling protest, but she wanted to drink a glass of water more. Ada drank the water in the glass first, and then took the apple pie and started to eat.

"Good evening, Mr. Weasley." Ada ate the apple pie before speaking to the twins. With the apple pie as a backdrop, Ada felt like she was alive again.

Fred handed Ida a copy of the Daily Prophet and said, "Look, you're in the newspaper."

George handed Ada another sandwich and continued, "It's just a little unclear."

Although she already knew Fuli's identity, Ada still opened the newspaper and read it while eating. However, Ada did not find her name or even her last name after flipping through the entire page of the newspaper.

As if he knew this would happen, George came over and pointed out a passage to her: A student from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry assisted the Aurors in their arrest...

"Are you angry? You almost died."

"It was obviously Dumbledore and you who captured him together, but your names were not mentioned at all."

"This is the Daily Prophet, which is why we hate the Ministry so much," said the twins together.

Ada didn't think so. Dumbledore no longer needed such things to express his achievements, and Ada also didn't want such "honor". It would be best if there was no text at all.

Compared to these illusory honors, Ada wanted some more practical rewards, such as a bag of gold galleons. After all, Foley was also a vicious Death Eater. Even if he was just an apprentice, he should be worth some money, right?
"What are you looking for?" George asked, seeing Ada looking for something.

"Gold Galleons, I have made great contributions to the Ministry of Magic, but is it true that the Ministry of Magic has no appreciation at all?" Ada tilted her head and searched on the small table.

"Don't look at it. There's nothing on it except food." Fred said, "There's no nomination, and there's no award."

"Although the Daily Prophet didn't mention it, everyone still guessed that it was you." George said.

Fred explained: "After the news of Foley's crime was published, everyone started to speculate who the student was, but no one in the school admitted it..."

"It just so happened that you were lying in the school hospital and didn't go to class, so everyone blamed this matter on you." George continued, taking over his brother's words.

"After all, he is only assisting the Aurors. No one will be surprised that he is a first-year student." The twins said together, "Now all that is left is for you and Dumbledore to nod and confirm everyone's guess."

There was no substantial reward, and everyone guessed the answer, so Ada was set as a target. Ada was not happy about losing both the wife and the army.

It was definitely not a matter of gold galleons, Ada just didn't want to be a bright target. Her body was too fragile and couldn't withstand any wind and rain.

"Let them guess. I won't admit it anyway. This kind of false reputation is useless. Having this reputation will only cause trouble."

"If I really gave you gold Galleons, I don't believe you would still lie here honestly." Fred said with a smile.

"Then I guess Ada would have already gone to see Professor McGonagall." George said with certainty.

Ada nodded in agreement with George. She said, "Of course, it's not just Professor McGonagall. I will definitely report it to Professor Dumbledore. I deserve it. I can't afford to lose even a single Knut!"

As expected of you! The twins' expressions were synchronized. They completely believed what Ada said. She was a witch who regarded gold galleons as her life.

"He caught a hidden Death Eater right after taking office. Our minister is so happy. His speech is the headline today." Fred said as he flipped through the newspaper.

George said disdainfully: "Various newspapers and magazines have also changed their tune and started praising the new minister, as if they were not the ones who questioned Fudge before."

"What if I become a minister in the future?" Instead of discussing the inconsistencies in the Daily Prophet, Ada made a joke.

Who didn't dream of becoming prime minister when they were a child? It's just like choosing whether to go to Cambridge or Oxford in the future. It's all boasting when you are young and ignorant.

"Then the Ministry of Magic will definitely welcome a minister with the shortest tenure and who is the most greedy for money." The twins attacked mercilessly.

Ada said dissatisfiedly: "Do you think I am a greedy and miser in your eyes?"

"How about another way of saying it?" Fred asked his brother for advice.

“Then put it another way,” George responded.

"A good-looking, greedy and miser!" The twins continued to attack Ada in the same way.

Ada would keep a record of every penny she spent, and the twins joked about it.

"If I were the Minister of Magic, I would definitely promote Mr. Weasley." Ada said, "How about Senior Deputy Minister of Magic?"

"Percy would love you to death if that happened!"

"Maybe I'll be so moved that I'll pledge my love to you."

Thinking about Percy's official-obsessed appearance, Ada shuddered unconsciously. Percy was so unlike his brothers that if it weren't for his freckles and fiery red hair, Ada would have thought Percy was a child adopted by the kind-hearted Weasleys.

"Forget it, I can't be the minister even for Percy." Ada said, pretending to be horrified.

"I heard someone say he wanted to be Minister of Magic, was that right?"

Just as Ada was chatting and laughing with the twins, Dumbledore walked into the school infirmary.
