The Hogwarts Emerald

Chapter 427 Severus Snape

Chapter 427 Severus Snape

Since entering Hogwarts, Snape has said more than once that Ada's curiosity will kill her.

In the first grade, out of curiosity, he was almost killed by Foley in the Forbidden Forest; in the third grade, out of curiosity, he went to the fourth floor of the castle to investigate the Philosopher's Stone; in the fourth grade, out of curiosity, he began to investigate the Chamber of Secrets; in the fifth grade, he investigated Sirius Black, also partly because of curiosity.

Over the years, Snape has always advised Ada to give up her curiosity, but Ada has never changed and her curiosity remains strong.

The two men looked at each other in the corridor, but there were no sparks or lightning. In the end, Snape, who was standing at the door of the classroom, was defeated.

Snape put away his wand and said, "Ask whatever you want to ask. You only have this one chance today."

The Potions Professor didn't know why he had a preference for the girl in front of him. She was obviously a self-righteous, curious, and undisciplined little bastard.

At first Snape just followed Dumbledore's orders, but now he has gotten used to it.

Perhaps it was the occasional flash of light from Ada that warmed the cold heart of the Potions Professor. Humans are very complex animals, who knows!

"How did the professor know that someone was eavesdropping outside?" Ada asked, "And how did he see through my Disillusionment Curse? The professor doesn't have Moody's magic eyes."

When Snape heard Moody's name, a look of disgust appeared on his face.

He said: "I didn't know that there were people eavesdropping outside. My conversation with Karkaroff cannot be hidden from those who can understand it, but there is no need to hide it from those who can't understand it."

"As for your Disillusionment Spell, I didn't see through it either." Snape continued, "I was just guessing."

"Uh... guessing... is it so accurate?" Ada didn't know what to say for a moment. The beautiful girl was speechless. She thought there was a flaw in her Disillusionment Spell, or that her footsteps and breathing had exposed her. She didn't expect it was just a guess!

On second thought, Ada felt that it might really be Snapemont's.

The only two professors nearby were Snape and Karkaroff, and the rest were students. She was the only one who dared to eavesdrop on the conversation between the two professors.

"Yes, I guessed it. Only you have the guts to do this, and only you are willing to meddle in other people's business." Snape said, "If you don't have anything to ask, get out of here."

Ask! Why not ask! Only a fool would not ask! Ada immediately asked: "What does it mean?"

In the conversation between Snape and Karkaroff just now, "he" refers to Voldemort, or Dumbledore, but Ada is not very clear about what this "it" refers to.

Under Ada's curious gaze, Snape hastily lifted his sleeves, and then quickly put them down. Although the Potions Professor was trying to cover it up, Ada could still see clearly that Snape had an ugly tattoo of the Dark Mark on his arm.

"This is……"

Snape said, "The Dark Mark, all Death Eaters have this mark on their bodies. He can use this mark to summon his servants."

After hearing this, Ada understood a little, and she said, "Karkaroff said: 'It is becoming clearer and clearer', which means that the mark is becoming clearer and clearer. And the clearer it is, the more powerful Voldemort is becoming. That's why Karkaroff is so panicked!"

"Don't say his name, and don't show off your ignorance." Snape taught, "If you don't understand how powerful and cruel he is, don't learn from Dumbledore. This will only make you look stupid."

The mysterious man, he-who-must-not-be-named, the Dark Lord, these are all nicknames for Voldemort. The name Voldemort is a taboo in the entire wizarding world.

Even Professor McGonagall didn't dare to call Voldemort directly, because she was the head of Gryffindor, who was known for her courage.

Wizards dare not mention it, not only because of the fear brought by Voldemort himself and his followers, not because wizards cannot face this fear, but because Voldemort cast a spell on his name. Once someone mentions "Voldemort", Voldemort himself will know that what is waiting for this person will be the Death Eaters who come to settle accounts with him, or the Dark Lord himself.

Except for a few people like Dumbledore, most of the people who dared to call out "Voldemort" were killed.

"His return is inevitable, it's just a matter of sooner or later." Snape calmed down and continued, "I don't know what he wants to do, but the Triwizard Tournament is definitely a trap, full of unknown dangers."

The Triwizard Tournament is indeed the best choice for the other party. People from other schools enter Hogwarts, and there are good and bad people. But what is the specific plan of the other party? What is the purpose, or the meaning, and what do they want to gain by doing this?

Did someone steal Snape's personal stash in order to make Polyjuice Potion from Boomslang skin? Did they disguise themselves as an outsider to infiltrate Hogwarts when the third task came?
Since Voldemort is about to be "resurrected", why bother to provoke Dumbledore? Shouldn't he keep a low profile as much as possible and make plans after Voldemort returns?
"Professor, what do you think?" Ada asked tactfully.

Now Snape is the Potions professor at Hogwarts and is trusted by Dumbledore, but what happens after Voldemort returns?
Ada was eager to know what choice Snape would make. If possible, she didn't want to go to war with Professor Snape.

Snape lowered his eyes, as if studying the dust on the ground. He said slowly: "I am different from Karkaroff. I am not a coward who can only escape from fear. I will not betray my colleagues."

The words spoken to Ada were similar to those spoken to Karkaroff, with almost the same implications, but Ada and Karkaroff's ideas were completely different.

Karkaroff thought Snape was hinting to him that he was a Death Eater all his life and that his stay in Hogwarts was a pretense of surrender. He had been waiting for the day when the Dark Lord would return and rule the world.

As for whether the Dark Lord would trust Snape, Karkaroff thought he would. The Dark Lord trusted Snape very much and gave him a lot of "favor".

Unlike Karkaroff, Ada believed that Snape was making his position clear and that he would not betray his colleagues, meaning that he would stand with Dumbledore to fight against the resurgent Voldemort.

Why do I think so? Because Dumbledore trusts Snape, and his actions over the years do not seem like something a traitor would do.

In the first year, the issue of welfare could be said to be that Snape looked down on the stupid Benedict Foley. What about Quirinus Quirrell in the third year? Was it also because Quirrell was stupid? What about Sirius Black last year?

That day in the Twilight Cottage, Snape was determined to kill Sirius. At the time, it was widely rumored that Sirius was Voldemort's second in command, and killing Sirius would not do any good for the traitor.

It couldn't be that Snape was avenging his old master because Voldemort was beaten by a one-year-old baby!

Anyway, Ada felt that if Snape was such a traitor, he might as well turn against him directly. He couldn't explain the things he had done. If Voldemort continued to trust Snape, Ada would really suspect that there might be something wrong with the Dark Lord's brain.

In this case, it is better to kill the wrong person than to let him go! If it were Ada, she would kill each traitor with one knife, without mercy, and would not leave any possible hidden dangers.

Looking at the changing expressions on Ada's delicate face, Snape said calmly: "I know what you are thinking. These are not what you should consider. Take care of yourself. The third project will never be as simple as you think."

"Where is Professor Dumbledore?" Ida asked, "What is his plan? He is not the kind of person who will sit and wait for death."

Snape's face showed obvious displeasure. He said, "If you want to know, just ask him yourself, don't listen to me. Besides, I don't know what he is thinking. He never tells anyone his overall plan."

Many times Dumbledore asks you to do something, and you may not know the significance of doing so. But when the other thing is finished, you will find that Dumbledore has a deeper meaning in his arrangement for you.

Dumbledore's thought process is so unfathomable that, apart from Grindelwald, perhaps no one in the world can understand it.

"There is one last point that you must remember." Snape continued, his expression serious, "You have already attracted a lot of attention, and the third project will inevitably be targeted. Sometimes, giving up at the right time is not a sign of incompetence.

"You've done enough."
