The Hogwarts Emerald

Chapter 12 My Dear Ghost Professor

Chapter 12 My Dear Ghost Professor
After the opening party and a lively weekend, the various classes at Hogwarts will finally begin this Monday.

When the sun climbed up the Gryffindor tower, Ada slowly opened her eyes. The warm quilt and soft bed made Ada not want to leave, and she didn't want to expose her body to the slightly cold air. Fortunately, Ada's willpower was quite strong, and she broke free from the bed after a few minutes.

Rubbing her sleepy eyes and gazing at the distant sky, Ada's new life has finally officially begun.

Angelina, who had been up for a long time, came over and put a robe on Ada.

"It's a little chilly this morning. Don't report to the school clinic before class starts." Angelina said, and then turned to Alia Spinnet who was still lying in bed and said, "If you don't get up, we may not have time to have breakfast, Alia."

"Five minutes, Angelina, let me sleep for another five minutes..." Alia, who was still in her sleep, muttered incoherently.

Ada and Angelina, both wearing robes, looked at each other. Angelina understood what she meant and walked directly to Alia's window and put her somewhat cold hands into the quilt.

Following Angelina's sneak attack, the dazed Alia finally woke up. The three of them changed their clothes and left the Gryffindor common room, chatting and laughing all the way.

When Ada and the other two arrived at the auditorium, many people had already gathered there. The three of them found a seat and sat down. Delicious food suddenly appeared on the empty plates in front of them. Just as Ada was enjoying her breakfast cereal, the twin brothers and Lee Jordan finally arrived.

"Do we have any classes today?" Fred asked listlessly.

"In the morning, we have Professor Flitwick's Charms and Professor Sprout's Herbology. Charms is with Ravenclaw, and Herbology is with Hufflepuff." Ada said, "In the afternoon, we have Professor Binns' History of Magic, with Slytherin."

After breakfast, the group came to the Charms classroom. They arrived a little late, and most of the students were already seated. Professor Flitwick was the teacher of this course, and he was also the head of Ravenclaw.

Professor Flitwick, a short man, stood on a pile of books, just enough to reach the desk and be seen by the students. He took out the roll call and began to call the names of the students, getting to know each one. His voice was high-pitched, but it didn't sound unpleasant, and he would chat with each student as he called his name.

Just by calling the roll, the students in the classroom were already full of affection for this short professor.

Professor Flitwick stood on the pile of books and started today's class. He was talking about some simple basic theories about spells. With Professor Flitwick's in-depth and easy-to-understand explanation of these basic theories, Ada's previous confusion about spells was also solved.

"You know, Professor Flitwick is a master of duelling!" Fred whispered.

Angelina and Alicia turned to look at the Weasley brothers, their curiosity piqued.

"Professor Flitwick even won the duelling championship when he was young!" George said, "How about that? That's impressive, isn't it?"

"How did you know?" Angelina asked
"Charlie, Charlie told us." Fred said with some envy, "I wish I could be that good!"

"I really want to know how he practices."

"Maybe it's a gifted talent." Ada, who was interrupted in class, said after pondering for three seconds.

Then Ada saw four pairs of curious eyes staring at him, so she had to continue, "I won't talk about superb spells and combat awareness, just look at Professor Flitwick's figure, do you have it?"

The four of them were shaking their heads like rattles. Although they were only eleven or twelve years old, they were already much taller than Professor Flitwick.

"Professor Flitwick's height is sometimes his disadvantage, but in a duel he is a small target and not easy to hit..." Ada was talking nonsense in a serious manner, but the other four people didn't know it and thought it made sense.

"Everyone, be sure to pronounce the words clearly when you recite the spell. Repeat after me: Soften quickly!" Flitwick said loudly.

The little lions and eagles chanted, "Soften quickly!"

"Very good, now it's your turn." Professor Flitwick said. Then Professor Flitwick waved his wand, and a bunch of small hardwood sticks flew towards the students under his command, neatly arranged in front of each person, just one for each person. The sound of softening spells in the classroom came one after another, and the flying hardwood sticks and the students' screams complemented each other.

Alia waved her wand, but she used too much force, and the small hard wooden stick rolled around on the table, and the same happened to Angelina's hard wooden stick. The Weasley brothers did well, and their small wooden sticks showed signs of softening under the effect of the spell.

Ada looked around and saw that few students succeeded. After all, this was everyone's first spells class, so it was normal to perform poorly and it didn't mean anything.

"It's your turn, Ada, show them what you're made of!" said Fred.

"Ada is a master of spells." George continued. Angelina and Alia also looked at Ada.

Pulling out the magic wand and pointing it at the rim of the cup, Ada chanted, "Soften quickly!" Then the small wooden stick on the table began to change with the spell, and the originally hard stick turned into a soft noodle.

Professor Flitwick, who had been patrolling the classroom, was the first to notice Ada's performance and praised her: "Very good, well done, Miss Drizzt. Your wonderful softening spell wins five points for Gryffindor!"

After class, Gryffindor students walked out of the warm castle, crossed the courtyard, and went to the greenhouse behind the castle. Learning how to cultivate exotic plants and fungi and understand their uses is the content of the Herbology course. Ada's performance in this class was not very good. She didn't like to take care of plants, but she still answered several questions raised by Professor Sprout in class, which added five points to Gryffindor.

In the afternoon, after lunch, the little lions came to the History of Magic classroom one after another.

Professor Binns is the only ghost professor in the school. It is said that Professor Binns fell asleep in front of the fireplace in the staff lounge and forgot to bring his body with him when he went to class the next morning. This shows that Professor Binns was indeed very old when he was alive.

Gryffindor and Slytherin took this History of Magic class together, and these two houses also taught Potions and Flying. The little lion and the little snake looked at each other, and this was a war without the smoke of gunpowder.

Suddenly there was a cry of surprise in the classroom. It turned out that Professor Binns walked through the blackboard and entered the classroom. Ada thought: My teacher is a ghost, this is quite exciting! If Professor Binns was not too old, Ada would have wanted to pair him with a ghost and put on a "Ghost" show. The ratings would definitely be good.

The History of Magic class should be a very interesting course. The wizards, magic and wars that have left their names in history are all very attractive. Unfortunately, Professor Binns' History of Magic class is very boring. The most exciting moment of the whole class is when he came through the wall. His debut is the peak!
Professor Binns ignored the students lying on their desks, opened his notebook, and read in a dry, low and monotonous voice, like a broken radio.

Gryffindor and Slytherin, who originally hated each other, no longer hate each other because their eyes really can't be opened. Those who can occasionally come back to their senses and write down a name or date are all strong people with excellent mental willpower.

The war between the two colleges was eliminated in Professor Binns' History of Magic class.

Ada supported her head with her left hand and held a pen with her right hand, her eyelids fighting fiercely. Angelina and Alia beside her had already fallen asleep, and as for the twin brothers, they fell down even earlier. Professor Binns' voice and teaching style were so soothing to sleep, and everyone had just eaten, and the warm afternoon sun created an effect of 1+1+1 greater than 3.

Ada still insisted, not because she didn't want to fall asleep, but because the system gave her tasks, and there were too many of them! [Successfully resist the call of sleep in five magic history classes and break Professor Binns's "spell". Completing the task will reward you with an enhanced version of the coma spell.]

"In October of that year, a special group of Sardinian wizards..." Professor Binns was still reading his notes on the stage, exerting his amazing hypnotic ability.

There were only a few students in the class who had not yet had intimate contact with the table. Ada pinched the inside of her thigh hard, forcing herself to stay awake.

I don't know how long it took, it seemed like a century, the boring History of Magic class finally came to an end. Ada, who had been trying hard to stay strong, found for the first time that a class could be so difficult to endure.

The students woke up at the end of the get out of class, looking radiant and energetic, completely different from the ones who had just fainted on their desks. Fred, who had a good sleep, looked at Ada in horror and asked in confusion, "Ada, what happened to you?"

Hearing this, everyone else looked at Ada, only to see that she looked haggard, and her eyes, which used to be as bright as emeralds, had lost their luster and were now bloodshot.

"No, I feel great, I've never felt better." Ada said, but her voice was weak. She stood up and left the classroom first, but her shaky figure looked like she would faint at any time.

I swear, after I complete the task, if I stay awake in the History of Magic class, my name will be written upside down! Ada swore fiercely in her heart.
