Chapter 9 Gryffindor Common Room
Chapter 9 Gryffindor Common Room
Led by their prefect, Percy, the freshmen made their way through the noisy crowd out of the dining room and up the marble staircase, the people in the corridor portraits whispering and pointing as they passed, and twice on the way Percy led them through doors hidden behind sliding panels and hanging curtains.
Ryan felt that what the Hogwarts history said about the castle being a refuge in the Dark Ages should be true. Only when the castle was built as a military fortification would there be so many inconvenient baffles and hidden passages that were previously used to block invaders.
Everyone yawned, even Ryan was no exception. It seemed that his 11-year-old body was still not fully developed. Otherwise, Ryan, who was good at cultivating immortals in his previous life, would not be so sleepy at just after nine o'clock.
After I dragged my heavy feet up many more stairs, feeling as if the stairs were cast under a spell and I might never be able to climb the entire staircase, the person in front of me suddenly stopped.
It turned out that Peeves was causing trouble in mid-air. Fortunately, Percy chased him away. They continued to walk forward and when they reached the end of the corridor, Percy told everyone that they had arrived.
There is a portrait hanging at the end of the corridor. In the portrait, a very rich woman is wearing pink clothes.
"Password?" she said.
"Dragon scum," Percy said. The painting moved forward, revealing a circular hole in the wall. They all crawled through the hole, and Ryan pulled Neville in, and then they found themselves in the Gryffindor common room. It was a comfortable round room, all in gold and red tones, filled with soft armchairs. There was a blazing fireplace against the wall, which dissipated a lot of the coldness in the old castle.
It was obvious that the freshmen were very sleepy. The seniors knew this too, and without saying anything, Percy directed the girls through a door to their dormitories, and then led the boys through another door. At the top of a spiral staircase, Ryan found his bedroom.
Fortunately, I was not in the same dormitory with Harry, otherwise in the third year, there would be a 1/5 chance of being drawn into the gift bag with a scary single elderly man holding a knife and staring at me at the bedside at a.m.
The bedroom had five four-poster beds with crimson flannel draperies. The luggage had been brought up, and everyone was exhausted after a day of train travel and dinner, so they fell into bed and fell asleep.
Because of the habit he had developed before, Ryan woke up from his dream the next morning and found that he seemed to have gotten up a little early. The sun had just risen. He was the first to wake up, and his roommates were still sleeping.
A first-grade class schedule was placed at the head of the bed. Ryan was a little surprised because he was always a light sleeper and would wake up when someone was around. The fact that the class schedule could appear at the head of the bed without his reaction showed that the house elves were indeed amazing.
I looked at the class schedule and found that there are eight classes in the first grade. Basically, the class time is from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm from Monday to Friday. Only the astronomy class is held between 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm. To be honest, this is much shorter than the study time of Chinese junior high school.
After washing up, thinking that he had no classes in the morning, he gave up the idea of waking up his roommates and walked down the stairs to the common room.
Hermione was already sitting on a sofa, reading a book.
"Good morning, Hermione." Ryan waved. Then he sat on a sofa next to Hermione and asked, "Although there are no classes this morning, you still have to eat breakfast. It's not a good idea to skip breakfast." Hermione turned to a certain page in the book in her hand, and then pointed to the content and said, "I learned from the book "A History of Hogwarts". There are a total of 142 stairs in the castle. Some of them are wide and big; some are narrow and small, and shaky; some lead to different places every Friday; some are halfway up, and a step will suddenly disappear."
"To make matters worse, there are doors that won't open unless you ask them nicely or poke in the right place, and doors that aren't really doors at all but solid walls that look like doors. It's hard to remember what's where because everything seems to be constantly moving. The people in the portraits are constantly visiting each other, and it's pretty sure that even the suits of armor walk."
Hermione closed the book and spread her hands: "So I can only wait here for a while and see if there is any senior who can take me...now we are taking it to the restaurant."
Fortunately, not long after waiting, footsteps were heard on the stairs, and a girl with black hair in a braided ponytail walked down the stairs.
Ryan immediately went forward to ask for help. The senior who called herself Angelina Johnson enthusiastically lent a hand and asked Ryan and Hermione to follow her to the auditorium. Along the way, she kept explaining to Ryan and the others how to pass through the special staircases and secret doors.
Finally they arrived at the auditorium. She told Ryan and the others that the changes in these things followed a certain pattern, and if they paid attention they would quickly be able to remember the characteristics of these stairs.
While eating, Ryan couldn't help but envy the Hufflepuffs, because their dormitory was closest to the restaurant and was next to the kitchen.
After lunch, Ryan originally planned to take a walk around the castle since he had no classes in the morning. After all, as a fan of Harry Potter in his previous life, he went to Hogwarts. How could he not visit those familiar places described in the books?
Unfortunately, this plan was disrupted by Hermione. She thought that self-study before class was very important, so she decided to go to the library and invited Ryan.
Ryan thought that if he didn't go to the library, Hermione would probably look down on him as a poor student, which would be embarrassing. In addition, the library was also an important place in the original novel. Ryan gave up his original plan to wander around the castle and went to the library with Hermione.
The library is located on the second floor of Hogwarts Castle and has a high dome. There are thousands of bookshelves inside, storing tens of thousands of books.
Maybe because it was morning, Ryan and the others found that there were few students in the library. Hermione sat down at an empty table, opened her textbook and started reading, occasionally writing something in the notebook beside her.
Ryan picked up a few books about the current situation of the magic world and started reading. After all, the information he had received before was not comprehensive, and the novels he had read in his previous life could only bring him some first-hand information, but these comprehensive introductions to the magic world were the cornerstone of survival in this wonderful world.
More than an hour later, the morning classes at Hogwarts were over, and a large group of students rushed into the library, busy looking up materials and doing homework.
Obviously, the hustle and bustle of the environment made Ryan feel a little irritated. Seeing that Hermione was immersed in her studies, he did not disturb her. After completing the borrowing procedures for a few books from Madam Pince, Ryan left the library with the books under his arm.
Ryan still didn't remember the route to go upstairs. Fortunately, he met Nick who was almost headless on the way, which enabled him to return to Gryffindor Tower smoothly.
