Chapter 75: First Battle Practice
Chapter 75: First Combat Practice (Please give me a recommendation vote)
The next morning at 6:15, Ryan got up early, washed up and went to the common room, where Hermione was waiting for him with her schoolbag on her back. Because Hermione had agreed with Ryan to learn something about combat from him, an idea that Miss Granger came up with out of protection for her parents when she discovered that the magical world was not friendly to Muggles during the summer vacation.
The two of them came to an empty classroom on the second floor. Ryan closed the door and began to speak: "Since you want to learn how to fight, I can share my experience with you."
Hermione saw Ryan take out a book after he finished speaking. It was the standard textbook for the Defense Against the Dark Arts class, "Dark Powers: A Guide to Self-Defense", and an extracurricular book, "Self-Defense Spells".
"Since we are going to learn, I think we should start from the most basic, simplest and most orthodox ones. Although these spells may be simple to cast, have a single purpose and average effects. But at least they can ensure safety while learning."
Hermione nodded in agreement.
Ryan opened the book and pointed to a page. "I think we should start with this: the Disarming Charm, one of the most basic but very effective spells. Of course, this thing should be useless to African wizards because they cast spells with their bare hands. But at least in the UK, it is very useful."
Ryan handed the book to Hermione after he finished speaking. Hermione took the book and read it carefully several times, then waved her wand in the air, her lips moving constantly. After a while, she stopped and said to Ryan, "I think I have learned enough theoretical knowledge, we should practice it together. Because spells can't be learned just by reading books."
"Of course, I think so too." Ryan said as he drew out his wand. He had to admire Hermione's cleverness, because it took him 20% longer to learn the spell than Hermione.
When the two were about ten steps apart, Ryan raised his wand and said, "I'll count to three, and then we'll start together. One, two, three."
"Expelliarmus." As soon as Ryan finished speaking, Hermione chanted the spell. The spell was accurate, and a red beam flew out from the head of Hermione's wand and hit Ryan. But because it was her first time using it, Hermione had some problems when releasing the magic, and the spell only made Ryan's hair stand up.
Ryan's counterattack easily made Hermione's wand fly out in a spin.
"Why doesn't my spell work?" Hermione asked curiously.
"This is the problem with self-study based on textbooks. Textbooks only contain spells and principles. They are used to complement the teacher's classroom teaching. How to cast spells still depends on the teacher's demonstration. Fortunately, this book, "Self-Defense Spells", contains the key points."
Ryan showed Hermione a page about the Disarming Spell in the Self-Defense Spell Collection. Hermione saw her problem immediately. "It turns out that the letter p here needs to be stressed."
After reading, Hermione closed the book and continued to practice. Now that she had found the right method, her magic improved rapidly, and it didn't take long for her to knock Ryan's hand away.
"I think I have mastered this magic. Can I learn the next one?" Hermione said to Ryan, looking a little proud.
"Have you really mastered it? Then let's really test it. After all, you have to know that in a real battle, it is impossible for two people to stand still and shoot spells at each other. With your current level, I can defeat you without using spells."
"I don't believe it. After all, you haven't been studying these spells for a long time. Even if your level is higher than mine, it won't be much higher."
After that, the two of them started a new round of practice ten steps apart. Hermione fired spells at Ryan, but Ryan dodged them or blocked them with desks in the classroom. Finally, Ryan jumped over several tables, dodged the spells and approached Hermione, then pointed his wand at her. "When did you learn this? It looks a bit like parkour. But to be honest, this skill should be useful in combat."
"How do you know this? I remember that this thing is only popular in France. Basically, you can't find anyone who knows this in the UK. I just learned it by chance from a sailor who travels around the world." Ryan asked.
"Because I have a French relative. He came to our house last time and told me that my distant cousin broke his leg because of participating in this sport."
"As expected, extreme sports are risky. You should be cautious when participating." Ryan continued, "So I said that you haven't mastered this magic at all. Or to be more precise, you don't understand how to use this magic in combat. And as a combat magic, this is the core."
"Indeed," Hermione admitted. "But you must have practiced this sport for several years. I think it would be difficult for me to be as flexible as you."
"You don't have to be like me, but it's always good to exercise and improve your athletic ability. Think about it, there are many spells in the wizarding world that are difficult to block, but you should have discovered that these spells need to be aimed before they are fired. So you can dodge these spells. Even the most terrible killing curse, as long as it can't hit you, of course it can't kill you."
After that, Ryan taught Hermione some methods of exercising in the assassin's heritage, and finally said to her: "Although it is very easy to treat common diseases in the magical world, it is better to get sick as little as possible. Madam Pomfrey's potion really tastes bad. So it's never a bad thing to exercise and strengthen your physique."
Hermione nodded sympathetically. She had drunk Madam Pomfrey's potion once last winter because she had a cold. The taste was terrible and steam kept coming out of her ears.
Later, Ryan took out a few small balls from his pocket and used the levitation spell to command the balls to rise and fall, allowing Hermione to use these balls as moving targets to practice her disarming spell.
Soon, it was 7:15. After packing up the things in the classroom, the two went to the auditorium to have breakfast.
On the way, Hermione asked Ryan: "When is our next practice time? I think this needs to be practiced every week to be effective, otherwise it is easy to forget."
"Then let's just do it on Saturday or Sunday. We'll notify each other when we're free then." Ryan said after thinking about it. After all, only during holidays will there be a lot of time for practice. The time for practice before breakfast like today is still too tight.
They then discussed some tips on using the Disarming Charm and what to do when the opponent casts a spell or attacks a moving target.
They didn't stop talking until they reached the hall at the entrance of the Great Hall and went to the Gryffindor table for breakfast.
