Chapter 390 The First Day of School (Please subscribe, please bookmark, please vote)
After the opening banquet, Ryan and Hermione began to greet the Gryffindor freshmen to gather in front of them. The new little lions looked very well-behaved, but Ryan knew that as long as he waited half a semester, these little guys would be naughty and troublesome.

After calling out a few times to gather the freshmen together, Ryan stood at the end of the team and watched them walk upstairs. Hermione walked in front of the team, leading the way and introducing them to some basic knowledge of the school. The freshmen were curious about everything in the castle just like they were back then, and asked questions about some new things from time to time. It took Ryan and his team more than ten minutes to finally successfully bring them to the Gryffindor common room.

After finding out that Ryan was the champion of the Triwizard Tournament last year, these little guys began to surround him and ask him all kinds of questions. It took Ryan a long time to deal with them and get out. At this time, he found that Harry and his roommates were discussing something, and Hermione and Ginny were also listening with interest.

"How does it feel to be a celebrity?" Hermione joked when she saw Ryan looking a little embarrassed.

"Oh, that's terrible." Ryan shook his head and quickly changed the subject. "By the way, what are you talking about?"

"We were talking about the Daily Prophet, which had been completely out of control since the end of last term," Seamus said excitedly. "My mother thought it was ridiculous that Fudge did nothing after the ten Death Eaters escaped, and even had the audacity to say that everything was fine. Especially since someone was allowed to destroy evidence in front of the highest-ranking members of the Inquisition recently, and the person who did this was only fined 100 Galleons, she thought Fudge was crazy."

"You're right, mate." Ron patted Seamus on the shoulder. "And what's even crazier now is that the guy who murdered someone in front of all the judges is now our Defense Against the Dark Arts professor."

"What? I'm going to write a letter to my mother right now. They actually let a criminal be a professor." Seamus jumped up and prepared to write a letter. Hermione looked at Seamus running away and shook her head and said to Ryan: "Now the overall public opinion is leaning towards us. At least in Gryffindor, everyone disagrees with the lies described in the Daily Prophet that Dumbledore is a lunatic and Harry is a disgusting and arrogant person."

"This is much better than before," Ryan thought. "At least it's not as bad as in the novel. This is a good start."

The next morning, when Ryan was having breakfast, he found that there were more people supporting Professor Dumbledore than he had imagined. Almost all Gryffindors, half of the Ravenclaws and a large part of the Hufflepuffs chose to believe in Professor Dumbledore and Harry. They believed that the Ministry of Magic was just messing around under Fudge's leadership, especially after knowing that the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor chosen by the Ministry of Magic this time was Umbridge, who had murdered people in court, everyone was more convinced of this.

"But now that I think about it, the You-Know-Who's conspiracy has succeeded." Hermione did not seem optimistic. After all, she didn't know that if it weren't for the butterfly effect caused by Ryan, Harry and Dumbledore's situation would be much worse than it is now.

"It's only been half a year since You-Know-Who came back, and we've already started fighting among ourselves." Hermione said unceremoniously, "The Sorting Hat's warning also means the same thing: unite -"

"Listen, Hermione." Ryan interrupted her and pulled her to a corner of the hall. "We are facing a war now. Don't expect everyone to stand with us. For example, the purebloods in Lytlin, as the beneficiaries of purebloodism, are doomed to be our enemies from a basic standpoint, unless we are willing to completely surrender and become their slaves."

Hermione opened her mouth slightly, looking a little bit unbelievable about this cruel future where one side might die, but in the end her eyes hardened as she looked at the Slytherin table in the hall. "One side must fall completely, even needing to kill them personally or be killed by them, is this war?"

"Yes, this is war." Ryan nodded slightly. Then Hermione was silent. Even though she had experience in killing, it was another matter to face acquaintances. However, the wizarding world was so small, and there was only one school in the whole of Britain. This situation was inevitable. Those members of the Order of the Phoenix who were brutally killed in the past should have been acquaintances of the Death Eaters. It was better to know some things in advance than to prepare for them when the time came.

This year is the OWLs year for Ryan and his classmates. According to Ryan's understanding, it is similar to the high school entrance examination in his previous life. Every professor repeatedly emphasizes the importance of this exam. Except for Professor Binns, who would not be stopped from teaching even by death, so he naturally does not take a small exam seriously.

Like Snape, he took out the complex potion of the demulcent in the first class of the semester to give everyone a blow, but fortunately Ryan completed the task before the end of the get out of class, and a faint, silvery steam came out of his crucible. But by the end of the get out of class, the joy of the successful configuration quickly disappeared. Because Snape assigned a twelve-inch long paper on the properties of moonstone and its use in medicine.

"Fortunately, I made a dictation recorder in advance, so at least I can free my hands to do something else." After class, Ryan began to show off his new work to make Hermione happy. It seemed to have some effect. At least by lunch time, she was basically back to normal. Of course, Ryan thought it was related to the fact that he had taken Hermione to see the world before. Sometimes, if you break some bottom line once, you can break it countless times.

In the afternoon, the arithmetic divination class started with two large papers, and after the review, there were two more large papers left for homework. This really made Ryan feel like he was reviewing for his senior year of high school, especially when the papers were about some mathematical calculations.
The last class on Monday was Defense Against the Dark Arts, and it was a mess. Whether it was Umbridge asking everyone to collectively answer "Good afternoon, Professor Umbridge" when she came on stage, or just allowing everyone to read the book instead of practicing.

What surprised Ryan the most was that Umbridge actually believed that as long as one learned the theory very well, one would be able to cast the spell smoothly even if it was the first time during the exam.

"This guy has been completely obsessed with the desire for power, and he doesn't even care about his brain." Ryan thought. He was recently stuck on the problem of refining the fragments of the Rose Mother. He obviously has all the knowledge, but still makes all kinds of mistakes in the actual operation. If only knowledge is really as Umbridge said, as long as you know the knowledge, you can operate it.

Although Harry was very angry, he still remembered Dumbledore's instructions. So he used the escaped Death Eaters as an excuse to criticize Umbridge's claim that everything was fine as a lie, and was deducted ten points. However, Umbridge's actions also aroused the hatred of the whole class.

"Calm down the human." Ryan saw that Harry seemed to be about to explode, so he quickly made a gesture under the table and activated the life magic. The magic took effect, and Harry suddenly calmed down as if he was splashed with cold water, and then sat back in his seat without saying a word. This was also related to the fact that no one died last year, which made Harry not so emotional about it.

"I repeat, all the talk that the outside world is no longer safe is nonsense. The Ministry of Magic guarantees that you will not be in danger from any Dark wizards. If you still have doubts, please come to me after class. I am always ready to help you. I am your friend. Now, please continue reading page 5, 'Basic Principles for Beginners'."

The rest of the class was spent with the rustling of pages and Umbridge bragging about the Ministry of Magic. After class, everyone packed up their things and left the classroom as quickly as possible, not wanting to stay here for even a second longer.
