Chapter 110: Fighting the Basilisk

In Slytherin's chamber, a green light shone through the crystal on the ceiling. In front of Slytherin's statue, a short figure stood there, surrounded by a dozen strange machines that were more than a person tall. The chamber was quiet, with only the occasional sound of dripping water and the sound of gears turning.

After all the preparations were done, Ryan took a few deep breaths to adjust his body, and then read out the narcissistic door code in snake language.

"Speak to me, Slytherin - the greatest of the Hogwarts Four."

As soon as the words fell, Slytherin's huge stone face moved. His mouth grew bigger and bigger, and finally turned into a huge black hole. From the black hole came a rustling sound, as if something was about to crawl out.

Ryan cast a levitation spell on himself and tightened the grappling hook on his left arm. He was then taken to the back of a statue by the grappling hook.

After removing the levitation spell, Ryan grabbed the black cloth on the rooster cage and sensed the position of the basilisk through the magic circle.

The basilisk moved in the same way as an ordinary snake. When it swam out of the cave and stopped to stick out its tongue to detect the surrounding environment, Ryan took action.

He activated the magic circle on the floor, which emitted golden light, forming golden rings one after another around the basilisk. At the same time, Ryan lifted the black cloth covering the cage, and the roosters in the cage crowed when they saw the light.

The basilisk was obviously stunned by the sudden attack. After all, this was the first time it responded to the call after 50 years of slumber. I thought I could welcome a new Slytherin descendant and complete its mission under the command of the descendant, but I didn't expect to be hit by a storm as soon as I went out.

Ryan urged the spiritual power in his body to twist the head of the basilisk to the predetermined position through the golden ring surrounding it. Fortunately, due to the sudden attack and the crowing of the rooster, the basilisk was in a state of confusion, and Ryan could feel that the pressure from the magic circle was not very great.

After twisting the basilisk's head to the designated position, Ryan shouted, "Fire."

After receiving the voice control command, the weapon stations began to fire crossbows in the predetermined direction. After that, Ryan felt the pressure from the magic circle suddenly increase. After the intensive explosions, Ryan took out a mirror from his arms and leaned out of the stone pillar to check the current situation of the basilisk.

The results of the investigation were mixed. The good news was that 2/3 of the crossbow arrows successfully hit the target and exploded inside the basilisk's body. In particular, the head, which was the focus of attention, had a large number of wounds. The places where the eyes were originally turned into two scary-looking holes, and black blood was oozing out of them.

The snake had wounds of varying sizes on its body, with bones visible in some places, and a large number of scales had fallen off, exposing the flesh underneath.

But the bad news was that the basilisk was still alive, and exploded after being enraged. Ryan saw that the light circle that originally restrained the basilisk began to crack and then shattered at the same time. The basilisk had exceeded the strength limit of the restraining magic circle at this time, and was completely destroyed after the magic circle flashed twice at the end.

After breaking free from the aperture that bound it, the angry basilisk let out a creepy hiss and rushed towards Ryan's location.

It was a bad thing for the enemy to upgrade before the battle. After all, Ryan's experience in playing online games told him that it was easy to be wiped out once he encountered such an unexpected situation. Losing both eyes and being seriously injured was fatal to most creatures. Although snakes generally did not rely entirely on their eyes to explore the surroundings, losing their eyesight and their strongest weapon was still an unacceptable blow to the basilisk.

Even though the basilisk would enter a dormant state under the influence of Slytherin magic most of the time, it didn't mean that it liked to be as motionless as a stone. Ryan's attack this time greatly affected its ability to move, which made the basilisk's simple brain mark Ryan as an undying enemy.

So after determining Ryan's position, the basilisk rushed directly towards Ryan, regardless of the rooster crowing beside him, which made it disgusted.

Seeing the huge basilisk rushing towards him, Ryan hooked his grappling hook on the raised pattern on the top of the opposite stone pillar, and then swung over. The basilisk may have lost its balance due to the attack on its head just now, and after a loud bang, it hit the stone pillar head-on.

The stone pillar was directly broken in half, and the basilisk continued to move forward and broke another pillar until it stopped at the third pillar. Ryan looked at the rising smoke and swallowed his saliva in fear. If he had run slower, he would probably have become minced meat now.

The smoke cleared, and the body of the basilisk reappeared, with more scales peeled off than before. The friction between the broken rocks and the body of the basilisk created more wounds.

"Smash to pieces." Ryan pointed his wand at the remains of the pillar above the basilisk's head that was connected to the ceiling. After the crumbling remains were hit, they flew directly towards the basilisk.

The basilisk dodged quickly after hearing the noise, but the wounds on its body and its huge size prevented it from completely dodging. The stone hit its tail, and it pulled its tail out from under the stone. However, Ryan saw that a lot of scales on the basilisk's tail had also fallen off and broken, and some were even slightly deformed. It seemed that the damage to the basilisk was not small.

"Hiss, hiss" the basilisk began to breathe violently, and some green gas also sprayed out of its mouth. Ryan felt dizzy from a distance.

Oh no, it's poisonous. Ryan thought of this and took out a poison-repelling charm from his pocket and slapped it on his body, then pulled out a tube of broad-spectrum anti-poison potion from his belt that he had made while helping Madam Pomfrey prepare medicine, bit open the cork and drank it. This was thanks to Madam Pomfrey who only wanted excellent potions, and these good-quality potions were given to Ryan as inferior products, and now they were just used.

As expected, the things left by the four giants should not be underestimated. At least, no matter the novels I read in my previous life or the information I looked up in this life, there was no mention of the basilisk spraying poisonous gas. Fortunately, I was used to making full preparations before each adventure, and I carried all kinds of potions and talismans with me, otherwise I might have overturned here.

But then again, just smelling a trace of poisonous gas from such a distance can make Ryan's enhanced body feel dizzy, which means that if Ryan is bitten by the basilisk, then there is a high probability that he will die. Because he has no antidote that can directly fight the snake venom.

At this time, Ryan was secretly thankful that he had used all his firepower to catch the basilisk off guard when it first appeared. Otherwise, the half-crippled basilisk was so powerful now. If it was a fully-formed basilisk, Ryan felt that he would have a hard time even escaping successfully, not to mention fighting it.

But now that he had deprived the basilisk of its most dangerous instant-death ability and most of its perception and caused massive damage, Ryan felt confident that he could kill it.
