Chapter 102 Nick's Thank You Gift

Ryan was watching a group of ghosts fighting over food at the table regardless of their status. Hermione came over from the side.
She held up her notebook and said, "I learned a lot today. I know a lot of secrets that I never knew before. For example, when Earl was bragging about his bravery, a ghost nearby revealed that he actually died when he accidentally fell to the ground during the pursuit and his head hit a crossbow arrow on the ground. It turns out that many historical truths cannot be explored in depth."

Just as Hermione was happily telling her about what she had seen today, a rumbling sound came from her stomach. Hermione's face immediately turned red when she heard the sound.

Ryan also felt a little hungry at this time, so he went to say goodbye to Nick.

Nick had finished toasting by this time, and stood happily on the podium, watching the ghosts eating around the table. Seeing Ryan pulling Hermione over, he bowed solemnly to the two of them and said:
"Thank you for your help. I think today is the happiest day since I died."

"You're welcome. This is not a difficult task for me. We are going upstairs to eat now, so we need to leave in advance. Bye." Ryan said to Nick.

"Ah, I've been so busy these past two days. I forgot to prepare food for you two. I'm so sorry. You should hurry up and eat. I think you can have dessert if you go upstairs now. The gift prepared for you will be placed by your bed tomorrow morning."

After saying that, Nick bowed and sent Ryan and Hermione out of the dungeon.

Ryan and Hermione hurried through the corridor and climbed the stairs. When they rushed into the hall panting and sat in their seats, the main course had been taken away and the dessert had just been served.

"What a shame you missed the Halloween special apple pie." Ron mumbled as he saw Ryan and Hermione sit down and eat caramel apples.

"But I still feel that attending the ghosts' party tonight was very rewarding. I gained a lot of knowledge that I can't find in books." Hermione said as she picked up a piece of pumpkin cake.

"Well, what are the characteristics of the ghosts' gatherings?" Harry suddenly asked curiously.

"I think the headless ghosts of the Headless Horseman's performance of throwing their heads to each other on horseback is very interesting. At least I've never seen it before." Ryan said while eating a piece of cake.

"As for the atmosphere, the blue candles, cold temperatures and a room full of ghosts can better reflect the characteristics of Halloween in the magical world. The only problem is that there is nothing suitable for humans to eat there," Ryan concluded.

After filling his stomach with dessert, Ryan returned to the dormitory with the group.

When Ryan woke up the next morning, he found a thick parchment letter on the bedside. After opening the envelope, Ryan found that it was sent by Nick's house elf at night.

At the beginning of the letter, Nick said that he used his bottle of Firewhisky to ask Barrow to write the letter under Peeves' control, because only Peeves could write letters. As for not letting the house elf write it, it was because he thought the content of the letter was not suitable for the headmaster to know.

Ryan opened the envelope and took out the letter, and found that Nick had given him quite a few gifts this time. The letter had the locations and opening methods of several secret passages in Hogwarts, and also told Ryan that the Room of Requirement contained things that Hogwarts students had lost over the past few hundred years, and he could find them as long as he found a place to hide something at the door.

At the end of the letter, Ryan was told that a ghost told him that nearly two hundred years ago, he saw a group of people stealthily carrying several heavy boxes and hiding them near the coastline in southern England. No one had taken these boxes out since then. Judging from the size and weight of the boxes, there might be treasures inside.

Ryan thought that he could go treasure hunting during the Christmas holiday. It seemed that Nick's gift was really generous. He hoped that he would not be disappointed. In short, Ryan gained a lot from helping out this time. Because he was in a good mood, Ryan watched the play "Gilderoy vs. Werewolf" performed by Harry Potter and Gilderoy Lockhart in Lockhart's class with great interest.

To be honest, if Gilderoy was not a wizard, he could find a job in Hollywood. Because Ryan saw that Gilderoy only gave Harry a few simple language instructions to help him reproduce the style of the werewolf.

After all, Gilderoy is just asking the real heroes about the process through his rhetoric. He can restore the scene through dry language and perform a sense of reality. It has to be said that Gilderoy is a genius in this regard.

It’s a pity that such teaching is obviously not enough for a teacher. At least Ryan feels that he can’t learn anything in such a class.

So Ryan took advantage of Lockhart's full concentration on the performance and took out a pile of parchment and began to deduce the magical heritage of the Viking wizards.

You have to know that magic is not just about learning spells. After deducing the basic runes of the spells, the user can try to change the magic.

For example, the most an ordinary wizard can do with Transfiguration is to turn a piece of stone into a statue, or go a step further and convert something between several objects.

But if it were a Transfiguration master like Dumbledore, he could use simple Transfiguration to deduce extremely complex magic.

For example, in the original book, Dumbledore used a water ball to control Voldemort's magic in the Ministry of Magic, which was actually an extension of the simplest Transfiguration.

Ryan's level naturally couldn't do this. He simply decomposed the Viking spell in his hand step by step according to the inheritance in his memory, and then confirmed the composition of each part of the spell and the effect of each part in the spell. Finally, he made minor changes.

This task is rather cumbersome, as it requires restoring all elements of a spell, including the incantation and actions, into the most original magic words, and then analyzing them based on the nature and content of each magic word.

The magic that Ryan is dealing with now is the ancient Viking Light Spell. This spell is more complicated than the current Light Spell, but it can allow the light spot to leave the wand and attach to certain objects.

The reason for choosing this spell as the first step to learn is that it is simple and safe. Even if it fails, the light will only flicker like a camera flash or not light at all. But if it is a complex spell, it will be very dangerous if it fails. For example, Luna's mother died because of this.

When the performance on Gilderoy's stage reached its climax, Ryan finally imitated the inheritance in his memory and understood a modified use of this spell: paying three times the magic power to double the glowing time of the spell.

Because of excitement, Ryan accidentally recited a spell, and as a result, everyone in the classroom saw a silver-white ball of light swaying towards the stage.

"This is terrible, it's out of control." Ryan covered his face with his hands.
