It has nothing to do with love or miracles, it's just a responsibility.

Chapter Sixty-Seven: The Guardian Girl Ten Years Later?!

Mayumi Haga pulled herself out of her thoughts, and her mood returned to calm.

The reason she suddenly thought so much was because of Tono Hitomi.

Yesterday, Hitomi Tono had planned to ask her out for a heart-to-heart talk, but since Rika Sugiyama had invited Mayumi Haga first, Hitomi had to decline the invitation.

Something about the other person has changed since the last time.

It's not just about the change in attitude after learning about Mayumi Haga's identity as a "Guardian," but something else entirely.

The other person's gaze was even more intense, but perhaps because they were too young and had not been exposed to relevant information, they seemed naive and had not yet figured out their own feelings, so no qualitative change had occurred.

It is a kind of emotion that goes beyond friendship.

Haga Mayumi could actually tell the difference.

When she was young—meaning before she was twenty-five in her original world—she knew nothing about this either.

Because of her childhood experiences and her slow-wittedness, it took her a long time to realize that she might be liked by someone, and that the people who liked her looked at her differently than others.

But so what?

Guardians are beings who are not bound by worldly constraints, and Little Feather is a bird that cherishes freedom. She is always moving forward and will never look back at those who wish her to stay in the same place.

In any case, she was not a suitable partner because she couldn't provide any of the feedback the other person needed.

Before Mayumi Haga could come up with a solution, she suddenly heard a scream from not far away.

"Aa ...

"Is he a weirdo?!"

"Don't come any closer! No!"

The amusement park was already crowded on the weekend, and there were even more visitors with children. When Mayumi Haga saw the mess in the distance, she instinctively stood up and rushed over to help.

Sugiyama Rika seems to still be on the roller coaster, preoccupied with screaming, and oblivious to the commotion below.

Another strange attack.

Because a strange person suddenly appeared in the crowd and started attacking indiscriminately, everyone pushed and shoved each other to run towards safety and scattered in all directions.

Leaving aside the harm caused to humans by these strange individuals, the more alarming issue is the potential for stampedes if such a large crowd becomes agitated and loses its composure.

Mayumi Haga heard the strange man's voice approaching.

"I smell... a scent of confusion!" she heard the ethereal, strange voice raise its voice in a comical tone, "Let me see... your bleak future!"

The strange man, wearing a bizarre paper bag hood and with a long, thin body, had eight arms. He was laughing and grabbing a child in each hand as he quickly approached.

—What kind of weirdo is this?

Mayumi Haga couldn't discern any characteristics of the other person as an oddball from their words; perhaps it was simply beyond her comprehension.

After all, she was an ordinary person who had little exposure to fantastical magical concepts, and at this moment she didn't realize how one could see something like the "future."

The next second, she realized that magic had forcibly locked onto her.

As the intense magical light struck, Mayumi Haga instinctively used the blessing of the Shrike.

...............................................................................................................................................

Hitomi Tono keenly sensed the aura of the strange person.

Unlike the ordinary weirdos she usually dealt with, this weirdo who appeared at the amusement park was unusually arrogant. Not only did he not conceal his aura at all, he even issued a declaration of war to the magical girls who could receive the signal through telepathy.

[I am Kazuna, the eccentric from the "future"! The eccentric who will soon become the ruler of this city!]

[A magical girl from Miracle City! If you don't want the amusement park to become a living hell, if you don't want people's futures to be stolen, if you don't want people to lose their smiles, then come with the flame!]

[Don't try anything funny! I know the spark is in your hands! I'm only giving you thirty minutes... Oops?! Don't hit me!]

Before the telepathic conversation was even finished, the future monster let out a pitiful scream as if he had been punched in the face.

Hitomi Tono then remembered that the amusement park seemed to be the place where Mayumi and Rika had gone to play today.

So it sounds like that weirdo was beaten up by someone.

If it's not Mayumi, then it must be Rika-nee.

Hitomi Tono scratched her head, not quite understanding why this strange person, who was so weak, dared to cause trouble here. However, she was still worried about Mayumi, who was unknown to her, so she quickly transformed and flew over.

Since the real bow has no ability to defend against magic, it would be bad if it got hurt.

Because she was anxious, she quickly arrived at the location in just a few seconds. From a distance, she saw several children lying on the ground, and then a familiar yet unfamiliar figure that looked like it had been captured by a strange man.

"Let go... wait?" She was about to stop the futuristic monster's rampage when she realized that the two people were not fighting.

It was a one-sided beating.

Wearing a beige guardian outfit, unlike before, the left arm with its white straight stripes had been stripped of fabric, revealing a sleek and powerful arm. The guardian lady looked somewhat different—

—He was skillfully beating up the screaming monster.

Holding a wooden pot lid she'd somehow acquired in her left hand, she effortlessly deflected the hastily assembled magic cannon from the futuristic monster back with a simple flick of her wrist.

By the time Hitomi Tono arrived, the future monster was already begging for mercy.

"I'm so sorry...! I'm so sorry! I'll never randomly call you from ten years in the future again... Waa ...

“…Guardian?” Tohno Hitomi swallowed hard and called out to her cautiously.

This was the first time she had ever seen Mayumi Haga hit someone so...ordinarily.

He didn't even use any weapons, he just kept hitting people. Although his hands would light up with some mysterious red light when he threw punches, it looked really painful...

Upon hearing her voice, the Guardian finally stopped.

She turned her head, casually tossed the strange man aside, and then walked over.

For some reason, Hitomi Tono felt something was off... Ah, her clothes were white, and that looked beautiful. And the scars on her face were gone. Her expression wasn't so gloomy either.

As she grew up, Mayumi Haga had a refined and heroic appearance. When she looked at him intently, it was indeed as if one was drawn into an indescribable vortex.

Moreover, Hitomi Tono harbors feelings of affection for her that she herself is not entirely clear about.

"Xiaotong." The guardian was about to habitually draw magic from the other person when she suddenly remembered that she didn't seem to have entered that stage yet, so she had to stop abruptly. She paused, "I've run out of magic."

Main Text: Chapter Sixty-Eight: Kazunari, the Future Monster

Kazuna, the freak from the future, is a strange person who came from a very far place.

He gained life from "people's confusion and fear about the future," thus enabling him to use extraordinary time magic that presents people's future before them.

However, due to the balance of the rules, he cannot use any other magic and does not possess direct offensive power.

He was always laughing and crying, acting crazy, and would launch indiscriminate attacks on those around him, usually getting a good beating afterward... After all, his magic had no offensive power, and generally speaking, the victims ten years later wouldn't be weaker than they are now, and they wouldn't be easy prey for everyone.

In fact, he was very popular in the city where he originally lived.

The children are full of anticipation for their future and occasionally grab him, wanting to go and see what it's like ten years from now... However, because of this, Kazuna's magic power is very limited, and it will take a long time before he can use magic that takes ten years to go.

He's a weak and strange person.

No one expected that such an oddball would actively participate in the battle for the "Spark," and even recklessly provoke the magical girl right from the start.

Is it because he lacks magic power? Or, like other eccentrics, does he want to create his own world using a treasure like the "Fire Seed"?

He was tied up by the Guardian, his face bruised and swollen, tears and snot streaming down his face, he looked disgusting.

“I… (sniffles) I heard that the [Fire Seed] is a very powerful thing… (sobbing) I want to become stronger… I want to…”

They want to gain the ability to change the future.

This wish, however, is not filled with ambition.

Since its birth, Kazuna has lived a muddled life due to its own confused nature, often sleeping on the streets, not knowing where it should go.

He imitates other monsters attacking humans, but he won't cause much of a splash, since he really lacks offensive power and won't cause any real harm to people.

Even if bringing people from ten years in the future to the present would disrupt their work and lives, infuriating them, it wouldn't last long due to a lack of magic. They would usually revert back to their original state after a few minutes.

So overall, it only occasionally disturbs other people's lives.

Occasionally, he would receive food and money from other strange people or humans, barely managing to survive, wandering the streets like a fool.

But the children liked him very much.

Children who want to grow up quickly will grab him, pull his hands, climb on his back, pinch his face, and laugh and make him use his magical ten-year-later spell on them.

What kind of person will I become in the future?

Scientist? Adventurer? Cartoonist?

It's going to be amazing! My future!

The children's curiosity was satisfied by the strange characters, and although their future selves were sometimes different from what they imagined, it was still pretty good.

Because from now on, we still have ten years to make changes.

Kazunar was very powerful when he was first born, but because he couldn't refuse the children's requests, the result of using magic after ten years was that he gradually weakened.

But... what is this emotion welling up inside me?

Despite the complaints from people ten years from now, the sight of children smiling warms my heart.

Although Kazuna cannot use magic for ten years in the future on himself, cannot know his own future, and does not gain any magic from it, he can still feel satisfied.

He was actually quite happy.

Until one day, he met that child.

The petite girl called out to Kazuna from the second floor as he was rummaging through the vending machine looking for usable coins.

She threw a bag of bread out of the upstairs window to Kazunar, shyly indicating that she wanted his help.

“Mr. Eccentric, I heard that you can switch places between me ten years from now and me now.”

The girl looked only seven or eight years old, her face was frighteningly pale, her cheeks were deeply sunken from being so thin, her eyes appeared very large, and her hair was soft and yellowish. She struggled to pull a piggy bank out from under the bed. "I can pay you a fee, can you use that magic on me just once?"

Kazuna wolfed down the bread, patting his chest and promising, "Leave it to me! By the way, how much money do you have here?"

The girl had only saved a little money, which was enough for Kazuna. At other times, the children would only give him candy or leftover snacks as payment!

With this money, I can go out and have a pork chop rice bowl.

As Kazuna passed the pork chop shop at the street corner, the enticing aroma made him really want to go in and have a huge bowl of extra-thick pork chop rice. However, he was short of money, lacked ambition, and spent his days idly… This wish remained unfulfilled for a long time.

"That one?" The girl knew the store too, and she became happy. "I really want to go, but I'm sick right now so I can't eat there. My parents said that once I recover, I can eat whatever I want."

Kazuna, looking bewildered, asked, "Are you sick?"

"Yeah, I'll be better soon!" The girl smiled and struck a pose showing off her muscles. Her wrists were frighteningly thin, and her clothes were baggy underneath. "Mom said she'd take me to the amusement park."

Kazuna wasn't quite sure about human health standards, but the girl did look thinner and more fragile than the other children; perhaps this was how it was after recovering from a serious illness.

He swallowed the bread in his mouth, and then heard the girl say, "Mr. Weird, what kind of person do you all want to become in the future? You should know better than anyone, right?"

"Usually they're soccer players, baseball players, police officers, and stuff like that!" Kazuna said. "Occasionally you actually do run into a baseball player!"

The girl's eyes lit up: "That sounds amazing!"

"And you?" Kazuna asked habitually.

"Hmm... I haven't decided yet. I wanted to be a picture book illustrator before, but after watching a stage play, I thought it would be nice to be able to jump around on stage..." the girl said, a little shyly. "Now I think it would be great if I could just grow up healthy, and that's what my parents hope for too."

Kazuna tilted his head, and it was impossible to tell whether the girl had any talent for dance. However, the child was growing faster every day, and once she recovered, she would probably become a little swan.

He also knew that a kid in the next block wanted to become a stage actor, and the two of them could be friends.

"I'm finished eating~! Come and see your future~" Kazunari finished the bread, feeling a little full, and began casting a ten-year-future spell. "I'll record what you say in the future~"

The girl tensed up; she closed her eyes and held her breath.

He cast a spell to bring the future ten years in the future, waiting for a healthy eighteen-year-old girl to appear before him.

Perhaps they're still worrying about entrance exams, and being suddenly summoned by themselves would give them a good scolding. Or perhaps they're wearing a beautiful costume and stepping onto the stage, only to find that the lovely white swan has turned into a tiny, frail child... It would probably be quite chaotic.

The bright light faded, but there was no one in front of him.

Chapter Sixty-Nine: Remember to Tie Me Down

Kazuna didn't understand what that meant at first, and thought that his magic had made a mistake. Only after the bewildered girl returned did he learn that she didn't seem to have gone anywhere, but had only seen a flash of light and hadn't seen the future clearly.

Kazuna spent thirty minutes trying to figure it out, his clumsy brain just couldn't wrap his head around it, until he encountered the Orange Juice Monster who was still performing for children on the street, turning water into orange juice, and then he finally understood what was going on.
