Suddenly, the skin of the Yuwen Clan's soldiers violently burst open, tearing through their armor.

Shaped like a wild beast, with a leopard's head and tiger's eyes, and covered in scales, it is just like the legendary Yazi!

Remembering something, Dugu Feng looked at Yuwen Shang with extreme horror... Sure enough, the old man was covered in ice and stone, his face was as pale as a dead man, which was obviously not normal!

"Yang Guang, what exactly do you want to do!"

Yu Chuhong gripped the jade cane tightly in her hand and sternly rebuked Yang Guang.

Everything that was happening was beyond her comprehension, but one thing was clear: Yang Guang seemed to want to kill them all!

"What are you doing? Don't you understand, my dear minister?" Yang Guang sneered.

"Our Dugu family is loyal to His Majesty!" Dugu Feng hurriedly said.

"Has Your Majesty forgotten Empress Dowager Dugu? With just one word from Your Majesty, our Dugu family is willing to serve you faithfully!"

At this point, survival is the most important thing.

Although it is unknown where Yang Guang obtained this incredible power... now the Dugu family has no choice but to bow their heads if they want to survive!

Moreover, as long as they leave the Luoyang Imperial Palace alive, they can retreat to Daxing to carry out future plans and call on the righteous path to eliminate evil and protect the righteous!

"It's too late, it's all too late," Yang Guang sighed.

"I understand better than anyone how fragile and ridiculous blood ties are. I personally poisoned my elder brother and strangled my father back then. Do you think I still care about family ties?"

"Your Majesty's reckless actions here will surely invite condemnation from powerful clans and righteous sects!" Dugu Feng declared sternly.

"The righteous path of the world? Heh heh heh heh, hahaha, hahaha!!" Yang Guang seemed amused by Dugu Feng's words. He flicked his dragon sleeves, exuding a terrifying aura of righteousness, and chuckled...

"Am I righteous enough now? I am the Purple Star Emperor, the rightful ruler of the world. The one who gave me power is the Goddess Nuwa."

"As for the powerful clans? Do you think I would still argue with you or tolerate your existence? No, I don't even need subjects anymore. Look, it's already on fire."

Yang Guang pointed to the city of Luoyang outside the main hall, and looking in the direction he was pointing, the scions of noble families and ministers all showed expressions of horror...

Burning, Luoyang is burning...

Starting from the city's markets, burning along the city walls, and even the magnificent palace itself, everything was ablaze!

Wailing and shrieking filled the air above the magnificent Eastern Capital, a lament of destruction.

"I am merely imitating my ancestors," Yang Guang said with a feigned smile.

"It's just that you ministers have asked me to emulate the ancient emperors, but I know I am not capable enough. So I'll settle for second best and emulate Dong Zhuo, Dong Zhongying."

He's gone mad! Yang Guang has completely lost his mind!!

Everyone present had this idea in their minds: what does it mean to emulate the ancestors?

Back then, Dong Zhuo burned Luoyang, a heinous act that will be remembered for all time... But in any case, it was because Luoyang was no longer Dong Zhuo's territory, and it was no longer of any use to him, Dong Zhongying!

But now, at least Luoyang is still the capital that Emperor Yang Guang moved here, the city is still intact, and everything is still usable!

But Yang Guang chose to burn the place down!

What is his purpose?! He gets absolutely nothing from this kind of thing except pure destruction!

"Oh no!" You Chuhong's expression changed drastically, because she saw a plume of smoke rising from inside the Dugu residence, and it seemed that it was already—

"I have entrusted the families of all my beloved ministers to the care of my minister Wei." Yang Guang smiled cruelly.

"I helped Minister Wei restore his crippled body, but he had probably been holding back for too long. After regaining his manhood, Minister Wei was inevitably a little angry, so it was only natural for him to use the families of you ministers to vent his anger."

"I don't think you ministers would be so petty, after all, you have always asked me to be magnanimous."

"You tyrant, prepare to die!"

Unable to contain herself any longer, You Chuhong roared and smashed her jade cane directly at Yang Guang's head!

You Chuhong is undoubtedly a master. She is not only the number one master of the Dugu Clan, but also one of the most outstanding strong people in the world.

The Demon-Subduing Cloak and Staff Technique she created was a unique skill she developed at the age of sixty, combining the techniques of the Dugu family's Biluo Hongchen.

It is based on the twelve regular meridians and supplemented by the eight extraordinary meridians. It is completely opposite to normal martial arts, but it has extremely strong power!

However, as a result, You Chuhong almost went mad and developed asthma.

Even so, her strength was undeniable. The jade cane, imbued with You Chuhong's true energy, smashed Yu Shiji's twisted arm that was blocking her way and headed straight for Yang Guang's head!

This was absolutely You Chuhong's strongest strike, piercing through her beliefs and principles, as well as her hatred and anger! Even the three grandmasters wouldn't dare to take this blow head-on!

But faced with You Chuhong's attack, Yang Guang only uttered two words...

"Tianjing!"

In an extremely critical and life-threatening situation, why did Yang Guang utter those two inexplicable words?

No one knew the meaning behind it at first, but soon they understood.

With Yang Guang's roar, his dragon throne shattered instantly, and a long sword as green as jade flew out!

Riding the wind, they blocked You Chuhong's path!

That strike, capable of cleaving gold and shattering stone, was shattered before this Heavenly Crystal Sword and could not penetrate it.

Yu Chuhong's tiger's mouth split open, and she almost gritted her old teeth as she desperately held on!

However, with the enormous serpent demon image rising behind Yang Guang, all the attacks instantly collapsed!

Grand and righteous, yet sinister and terrifying! Nuwa's form is actually the head of Yang Guang, exuding righteousness while doing demonic things!

With a roar from the serpent demon, You Chuhong's flesh and blood were instantly expelled, leaving only a skeleton. Yang Guang grabbed the skull and crushed it in an instant, right before Dugu Feng's crazed gaze!

"No need to rush, my dear subjects!" Yang Guang laughed wildly.

"Once I have burned Luoyang to the ground, I will follow the advice of my ministers and head to Jiangdu. However, I will not travel by boat; I will walk there slowly."

"And I will slaughter every city, every home, and every person along the way!!"

Having said that, he crushed You Chuhong's skull in his hand. The next moment, countless demon-like Heavenly Crystal Sword Slaves charged towards the powerful families, loyal ministers, and valiant generals.

Amidst the carnage and screams, Yang Guang slowly stroked the Heavenly Crystal Sword, listening to the mournful cries behind him, and roared as he raised his sword amidst the thunderous roar of the sky…

What does "I am all alone" mean? It means that I am invincible under heaven!

21. Jingnian Chan Monastery

Four hundred and eighty temples of the Southern Dynasties, how many pavilions and terraces are shrouded in mist and rain...

This poem, which has not yet been "born" in this day and age... can accurately describe the magnificent temple, Jingnian Temple, located in the southern suburbs near Luoyang.

The temple complex comprises over a hundred buildings, resembling a small city. In the center stand seven main halls and a small bronze hall, each three zhang wide and deep, and one and a half zhang high. Outside the bronze hall, all the buildings are covered with tricolor glazed tiles, their colors still as new.

In front of the bronze hall is a vast platform square, hundreds of feet wide, built of white stone and surrounded by white stone railings. In the center is a bronze statue of Manjushri Bodhisattva riding a golden lion. Beside it are the three Buddhas of the three times: Bhaisajyaguru, Shakyamuni, and Amitabha.

In addition to the four stone steps leading to the entrance, there are five hundred Arhats, all cast in gold and bronze, each with a lifelike expression, colorful sculptures and gold decorations, and quite imposing.

The Jingnian Temple is so ornately decorated and meticulously crafted that it could easily support the entire city.

It's no wonder that Yang Guang so disliked this place, the leader of the righteous path; after all, he was right—

These monks build a Buddhist hall ten times more magnificent than his palace and call it paying homage to the Buddha... while if he builds a palace at will, it's considered tyrannical and immoral.

Before the thousand stone steps of this Jingnian Zen Temple, there has never been a shortage of devout men and women.

Even in these chaotic times, there are still believers coming to worship at Jingnian Temple on the stone steps hidden in the bamboo forest on both sides... Judging from their fine clothes and silks, most of them are wealthy and noble people.

Among this crowd, Bai Wujie and Fu Junzhuo stood out conspicuously and out of place.

However, no one saw their traces because Bai Wujie cleverly used the Ultimate Illusionary Demon Sound to create a vacuum area that everyone subconsciously ignored... This was both to hone his skills and to avoid unnecessary trouble.

They finally arrived at Jingnian Temple, and Bai Wujie's next task was to find out the location of Cihang Jingzhai.

Bai Wujie's purpose in coming here was not just to ask for a location; for him, there might be something he needed in this temple.

From a certain perspective, Bai Wujie and "monks" are actually quite related.

The Bodhidharma Sutra, which he practiced, was originally created by Bodhidharma, a wise man and a practitioner.

The ultimate boundless qigong he is currently practicing was also created by the Ultimate Monk.

Of course, Bai Wujie had never met a true Buddhist believer.

Because in his time, religion had become a thing of the distant past.

If we must put it into words, people have changed their objects of worship from ethereal gods to real, existing war gods.

When the earth is filled with war gods who are no different from the gods in myths and legends, does the ethereal faith still have any value?

“I felt that the magnificent temple might hold the wisdom I was looking for.”

Bai Wujie looked at the magnificent Jingnian Temple that was gradually approaching and said softly...

"I thought you would really hate these bald monks."

Fu Junzhuo looked at Bai Wujie with some surprise. Based on her understanding of this madman, he should have been very disgusted with these monks.

"Wisdom is wisdom, and religion is religion. I admire wisdom, but I've never thought religion is entirely useless," Bai Wujie said calmly.

Because he understood that, regardless of the form in which "worship" takes place, this phenomenon is an instinct that humans can never eliminate.

Even in their era where everything was based on power, it was the same... Powerless ordinary people simply transformed the gods they had never seen into the war god kings they actually saw.

But even the gods of war, who are idolized by ordinary people on earth, have things they "worship".

Strength and wisdom are what they pursue and worship...

However, it is also possible for people to place their faith in other things, and even the Bai royal family is not immune to this.

The Bai family, up to Bai Wujie, has a unique worship and respect for their "ancestors" for 241 generations.

Before the 229th generation Sea Tiger Martial God Bai Kuanglong was defeated by the Moon Martial God Lan Wuji and the entire Bai family in the First City was slaughtered, the First City of Sea Tiger already had those magnificent statues.

Those records bear the statues of their ancestors, and among them are some of the strongest and most accomplished ancestors of the Bai family, who are placed in the burning fire pit, where they are revered and worshipped by later generations under the scorching heat of the eternal fire.

Bai Junlang, Bai Shounan, Bai Cinan, Bai Pili, Bai Qiankun...

The statues in the burning fire pool were luxuriously crafted using the hardest material in the entire solar system, and the eternal flames scorched them, seemingly proclaiming the Bai family's eternal destiny.

But is all of this really necessary?

In fact, they are meaningless; those sculptures are of no significance to the Bai family except for remembrance.

However, the Bai family still did it, spending a lot of time and effort on it.

Because some things cannot be measured simply by "value".

The Bai family worships their ancestors just as they worship power.

The Bai family firmly believed that their strongest ancestors had endowed them with the most powerful bloodline on earth, and this unwavering confidence and pride was what they believed in.

But what is the truth?

Bloodlines aren't actually that magical. No matter how strong the bloodline of our ancestor Bai Junlang was, after more than two hundred generations, it had already diluted. No matter how powerful the blood of our ancestors was, with such dilution, it couldn't play such a significant role.

The "power" and "dominance" of the Bai family's Sea Tiger Martial Gods throughout history have always relied on themselves!

However, if one mistakenly places the worship and respect for ancestors above the pursuit of power, it will only lead to putting the cart before the horse.

Even a powerful family like the Bai family produced a notorious good-for-nothing like Bai Kuanglong, didn't they?

Doesn't this prove that the Bai family's bloodline isn't actually that magical?

As the Sea Tiger Martial God, Bai Wujie naturally understood this principle. However, just like his ancestors, he never raised any questions about the statue group in the First City of Sea Lake.

You thought he understood that the Bai family not only had the strongest Sea Tiger Martial God, but also other less powerful clansmen.

They needed to place their emotions and pride in their faith, and their powerful ancestors were the source of their faith and confidence.

Ultimately, what people pursue in life is nothing more than a simple sense of security, and even the Magnetic Field Martial Gods are perhaps no exception. Although they are Martial Gods, they still have aspects of human nature.

That's what faith is like. To those who pursue practicality, it's just a nonsensical, deceptive trick by a clown! But to those who need it, it's a place to place their beliefs and find peace of mind.

Therefore, Bai Wujie never rejects faith.

Because he wouldn't be so forceful or even cruel in demanding that his people be strong... because in that cruel era, demanding that the weak be strong was even more damn cruel than demanding that they be weak!

But even so...

"Although I don't dislike faith, I still think this Jingnian Zen Temple is a fucking nonsensical thing!"

Bai Wujie arrived at the gate of Jingnian Temple, looked at the tall and majestic vermilion gate, and scoffed disdainfully...

Although he does not reject religion, he would never allow such a group of swindlers and fools who use faith as a pretext to appear in his country!
