"Ignore him and focus on preparing to land in Macragge. The chaos has subsided, but there are still some rebels and cultists waiting to be dealt with. As for me—"

"I'm going to see Guilliman directly."

Without another word, the Khan cut off the communication, enveloped himself in magnetic force, and rushed towards the land of Makulag like a streak of white lightning.

On Macurag, Guilliman sat heavily back on his throne. Moments earlier, he had dismissed all his servants and advisors, and even the Glory Guards were ordered to wait outside the sanctuary.

The first step on the road to restoration has been taken, and the blasphemous power of chaos has been completely expelled from Macrag.

The sporadic resistance was no longer a problem... Dozens of Ultramarines' sub-groups trudged through the howling Aether tide, braving all dangers to gather here, just to catch a glimpse of the Primarch.

The Nova Warriors, the Sons of Aura, the Origin Chapter, and countless other sub-chapters converged into a torrent, swearing allegiance to the Primarch, along with other pilgrims from across the Imperium—in short, all these forces arrived once the problem was resolved.

All the current problems have been resolved, and Angron has finally been calmed down by Guilliman... but the problems left for the Sons of Vengeance are no less.

Four people remained in the reception room: Evelynn, Lilith, Fogrim, and Calgar.

The first three were "guests" that Guilliman had to meet and discuss with... as for Calgar, he had to stay here to protect the Primarch.

After all, having Fergen and Guilliman in the same place, even if it was a clone of Fergen, made Calgar feel a chill down his spine.

This will be a brief and private meeting; Guilliman knows that the Emperor has likely reached some kind of agreement with the Eldar...

But for the vast majority of the Empire, the alliance with the Eldar remained a revolutionary and serious diplomatic event.

The alliance between humans and Ada has proven to be a great achievement for both sides, and Guilliman's resurrection is a debt that the Ultramarines can never repay.

Nevertheless, the vast majority of warriors in Alteramar were unwilling to entrust their backs to such a group of sinful yet fiercely skilled aliens. Guilliman, however, was not among the majority.

“The road ahead is long and fraught with peril…” Evelynn said. “The stars are dimming, Primarch. You have successfully deceived death this time, but your pain and torment still linger, and you need adequate healing.”

Once off the battlefield, Evelynn seemed to have lost her unrestrained madness and reverted to Ada's inhuman demeanor.

Guilliman remained silent, though he appeared quite relaxed... but in reality, ever since the Emperor left Guilliman's body, he had constantly felt the weakness and pain that lingered within him.

The power of a single Elsa rose was barely enough to keep Guilliman alive... The Armor of Destiny, which was due, was not delivered in time due to a misalignment in time, leaving Guilliman with only two choices.

They could either follow Evelynn to the Web Path and enter the so-called Ulthuan, or wait for Belisarius Caul, who was currently in the Eighth Underworld, to arrive.

For the sake of caution, Guilliman should have chosen the latter, but not just the constant suffering...

Guilliman realized that heading to the Eldar capital might be the first step for humanity to have a relatively trustworthy ally in the face of future perils.

“I will forever remember this kindness,” Guilliman said solemnly.

"However, there will be some waiting and preparation before we travel to your territory. I hope you can stay in Macurag for a while longer."

Preparations are necessary, of course. Guilliman, who has already slept for ten thousand years, does not intend to be put into another ten thousand years of sleep due to any accident!

Are you scared, big boy?

Lilith licked her lips, looking at Guilliman provocatively and seductively... then she glanced at him and Evelynn with a strange and ambiguous look.

Calgar, who was about to lash out, was stopped by Guilliman's look... while Evelynn also gave Lilith an unfriendly look that shut her up.

“Our time is also precious,” Evelyn said softly and gracefully.

"If you are really afraid, that's fine. You can wait for your Great Sage. We will only be staying here for another week. We also have important things to do."

"Is that so? Then I wish you good luck in your military campaigns."

Evelynn gave Guilliman a salute, while the Primarch nodded slightly to the two Eldar in farewell. The Eldar then gracefully turned and stepped out of the room without touching the ground.

"The Spirit Clan Empire..."

As Guilliman watched the two enigmatic aliens leave, he muttered to himself, "I don't believe you two would be so kind..."

Having finished his meeting with Ada, Guilliman immediately turned his attention to the clone Fuggen before him…

His gaze was deep, and carried a strange quality that even Guilliman himself couldn't quite put into words.

"I……"

110. Emperor: Guilliman, I bestow upon you an angel...

"I……"

Knowing it was his turn, Fugen stepped forward, intending to speak... but after rehearsing his lines, all his thoughts vanished upon seeing the scar on Guilliman's neck.

Speechless, Fugen didn't even know what to say when he opened his mouth.

“Fogan, you are not the brother I know... nor the demon who almost killed me.”

Seeing the silent and dejected Fuchs, Guilliman's expression softened considerably, and he said softly...

Did he hate Fulgen? Not entirely. At least among those Primarchs who betrayed him, Fulgen's actions were not driven by selfishness or voluntariness.

His betrayal was not voluntary; like Horus, he was forced to join Chaos—and in essence, Fulgrim was not a very loyal Primarch to the Empire.

Yes, perhaps to many who don't know the Primarch, Fulgen, who received the title of the Legion of the Emperor's Sons, should be a staunch supporter of the Emperor... but in reality, Fulgen's personality and mannerisms are very similar to those of the Khan.

In Fuggen's eyes, he merely saw the Emperor as a "boss" worthy of loyalty, not as a father. Perhaps due to the culture and education of his home planet Chermoth, Fuggen never had excessive expectations of the Emperor like other Primarchs.

He joined the Empire simply because the Empire and the Emperor were more in line with his vision of a better ruler. He was similar to Guilliman in that they were both good at politics, but he did not have Guilliman's idealism.

But Fugen was indeed the one who caused the most damage to the Primarchs.

Ten thousand years have passed. What can Guilliman do even if he harbors resentment? The die is cast, and what he can and should do is let go of the hatred that he shouldn't have.

The demon Fugen, who has now sided with Chaos, is undoubtedly his enemy, and this clone of Fugen—

He can be an enemy or a friend.

Guilliman consulted with experts including Tigurius, the current head of the Ultramarines' think tank, and Evelynn, the High Priestess of the Death Army, and, in addition, Angron claimed that this clone, Fugen, was his incomplete brother.

A part of Fugen's soul did indeed remain in this cloned body... but unfortunately, it was not complete; at least compared to the demon Fugen, it was just a fragment.

This makes him lack the glory that the original body once possessed, and it is also a huge hidden danger and threat.

The demon Fugen, located in the Dark Prince's palace, can influence him at any time by contacting this fragment of soul. It may be uncontrollable, but it is very likely to cause him to make mistakes on some key issues.

Sometimes, to induce someone to betray you, you don't need to turn them to your side; you just need to give them the wrong information at the wrong time.

So many people, including Evelyn, urged Guilliman to kill the clone Foggian, or at least banish him.

But Guilliman rejected them all.

His choice stemmed from both a sliver of hope that Fugen might find a way to return and a clear understanding that he could do nothing for Fugen.

Angron and he had a good relationship. Although Guilliman didn't say it, he knew that Angron, who had now become a madman, would definitely make up an excuse for Fugen and then stab him.

Even to stabilize Angron, Guilliman wouldn't do anything.

However, this alone is enough to prevent Guilliman from taking action against Fugen; he is now clearly going to take a different approach.

“Fogan, I can welcome you back, although you may not be able to publicly acknowledge it from the Empire's perspective... at least for a long time, you won't be able to receive any honors,” Guilliman said softly.

“It’s alright, I just want to atone for my sins,” Fugen said softly.

“I don’t care about honor and dignity. A guilty person is not qualified to talk about these things. I just want a chance... a chance to start over.”

At this point, he looked up at Guilliman and said seriously…

“Guilliman, I don’t want glory, but I want the Eagle Banner that once belonged to us to be filled with dignity and pride! I need a world of conscription, I need to rebuild… the Son of the Emperor!”

"Absolutely impossible! The seeds of traitors could never be sown in the Empire a second time!"

Calgar stepped forward excitedly, his eyes showing no respect for the incomplete Primarch, only disgust and deep hatred!

Fugen lowered his head; he was already used to being treated this way. To be hated and despised, to be insulted and scolded, was the treatment a traitor deserved.

“We still need to be wary of you, Fugen.” Guilliman gestured for Calga to step back, then spoke to Fugen without changing his expression…

“You still need to prove yourself. Even though you saved me from Mortalian once… Here’s what we’ll do, Fugen, I can select a batch of new recruits to implant the genetic seeds you brought, but in return, you need to achieve enough results.”

What do I need to do?

"The first thing, accompany me to the capitals of those Eldar," Guilliman said softly.

Although Fugen was not perfect, the magnetic field power he received from Angron was still strong.

Although he was also crippled by Mortalian's poison, he was quite resentful...

But at least until Guilliman starts to further damage the crippled body and activate the magnetic field, he can't beat Fugen.

As for whether Fugen is trustworthy, Guilliman is more willing to believe him than the Adaline.

"And when I return, perhaps you can rebuild a new Chermoth, and choose a new world where the Son of the Emperor is reborn... Fugen, you won't let us down again, will you?"

"Absolutely not." Fugen said softly but firmly.

"The phoenix will never fall a second time."

Fugen stroked the sword at his waist; for him and for the entire Son of the Emperor, this would be a chance for rebirth.

The proud purple phoenix plunged himself into the mud for ten thousand years, but today, he will wash away all the filth!

“Oh, right, Guilliman,” Fugan suddenly said.

"Although it's very faint, I sensed a small fragment of Fugen's malice within Macurag's range... I don't know where he's lurking, but you'd better be careful."

"Then you can take care of finding him for me," Guilliman said, waving his hand.

Calgar nodded, understanding the Primarch's meaning, and immediately led Fugen away from there.

Looking at the once again empty hall, Guilliman's expression relaxed, though his brow remained furrowed in pain.

These weren't the only problems troubling him: the plague that Makulagne hadn't eradicated, a military parade to inspire the people, the need to summon a stronger guard, the need to appease and deal with the judges, and...

Compared to physical pain, Guilliman was clearly more tormented by mental anguish.

He had a premonition that he might not be able to sleep for a long time to come.

Just then, a piercing air raid siren suddenly sounded. Guilliman looked up sharply, and before all the anti-aircraft fire could be activated, a white bolt of lightning suddenly leaped across the sky...

It blasted open the magnificent dome of Guilliman's Throne Room with unimaginable speed and crashed down in front of Guilliman!

Guilliman gripped his weapon tightly at first, but only relaxed his grip slowly after the lightning receded.

He looked at the newcomer with some disbelief and said in a deep voice...

"Chagatai...is that you?"

"If there's no one else with that name, then it's definitely me." The Khan removed his helmet, gazed at his brother whom he hadn't seen for millennia, and said softly...

"Guilliman, seeing you alive is better than anything else."

Guilliman remained silent for a long while. He first dismissed a large group of Ultra Warriors who wanted to come to the King's aid, then gazed at his brother for a long time before exhaling softly...

"Me too, bro..."

Guilliman smiled knowingly; his words were undeniably sincere… In these dark times, the return of any brother brought Guilliman genuine relief and joy.

Although it wasn't entirely confirmed that it was the Khan, Guilliman still sensed a shared blood flowing through them, a blood that belonged to one person.

“Don’t get me wrong, Guilliman. I’m saying you’re better off alive than anyone else—because you’re alive, and you can help us with the things we least want to do.”

Before Guilliman could say anything, Khan spoke first, his tone already quite unfamiliar.

Of course, even more than the unfamiliar tone, what the Khan said made Guilliman's face darken!

Seeing Guilliman's dark expression, the Khan instead revealed a delighted smile. He walked up to Guilliman, looking at the table piled high with official documents with astonishment...

“Guilliman, of all our brothers, you’re the best at handling these things. Of course, Loga, Horus, and Fugen are pretty good at it too… but you’re still the best fit for Makado’s job.”

"I'm not cut out for that. My personality is only suited for killing. So, Guilliman, I'll leave everything to you—the High Lords Council, Imperial administration, the state religion—to you! Anyway, your combat abilities are just average!"

Guilliman took a few deep breaths to prevent himself from being driven to his death by his notoriously sharp-tongued brother.

"Are you really Chagatai? Where have you been for the past ten thousand years?!"

"I chased those long-eared creatures into the net tunnel, and by the time I emerged, ten thousand years had passed," Chagatai Khan said, shaking his head.

“I don’t know what you want to accuse me of, but do you really think I’ll have a good life if I stay in the Empire for the next ten thousand years? Don’t you know why Volkan wanted to fight the beast in the first place?”

Guilliman remained silent. Chagatai was right; as the Primarch who returned during the War of the Beasts, and the last Primarch to appear, their good brother…

The reason why the super-nice Salamander Primarch Vokhan went to fight the Beast was probably because he didn't want to deal with the mess that was the Empire!

Although the Primarch's battle with the beasts was a necessary sacrifice, witnessing the Highlord's pig-nose actions and the state of the Empire in Volcan... clearly restrained the strong urge to smash all the Highlords into mincemeat.

Volkan wouldn't stay; he believed that since the Emperor wanted mortals to rule the empire...

If they're not even willing to leave a seat for the Astartes and Primarchs in the Highlords Council, then let mortals rule the Empire.

Guilliman understood this idea; it was perhaps a silent expression of Vaucan's dissatisfaction and protest against the Emperor's actions.
