I'm a magnetic field madman
Page 519
He once again immersed his thoughts in the waves of the subspace, standing on the broken bridge, facing the calm yet terrifying waves crashing down upon him.
He was looking down into the waters where sharks waited. It was an island that had fallen into the water, so close, holding the secrets of the past, present, and future.
To mortals, the waterfall of unfinished tears lives up to its name: blue-green energy gushes forth from the barrier of the net.
It bisects a large hall and the entire city, embedding them in vibrating black and gray crystals.
Eldrad stood in the center of the hall, gazing upon the roaring waterfall, the knowledge he sought and demanded transcending this ever-changing veil.
He prayed to the runes three times, and each time the path to the Fall of Unending Tears appeared...
His boots swept across the marble floor as he approached the waterfall. The patterns shifted in the mist, unaware of his arrival.
He took out a small crystal bottle from his belt, the surface of which was very similar to that of the wall.
It is called Soulglass, similar to the spirit bones his people used to hold psychic energy, but conversely, because it is designed to repel psychic energy. Thought cannot pass through it. It is a material that can defend against, or store, the subspace.
It froze his fingers. Like Eldrad, it wasn't real, but merely a reflection of its physical existence. Here, that was enough.
The prophet, arms outstretched, nearly fell over when a gentle breeze brushed his cheek. He turned and found a door in the wall, inside which was nothing but polished crystal.
A young Elven figure stood before the door. He looked like him. An Elven image refracted through a lens? Perhaps.
The newcomer was so thin it was almost enviable, especially her slender wrists and long, graceful neck. Strands of golden hair almost dragged on the ground, and her figure seemed to be entwined in a state of ecstatic joy.
The silver robe split open at the shoulders and thighs, revealing pale pink skin. Sapphire-blue eyes gazed at him.
After another heartbeat, Eldrad saw that the person had their arms crossed over their chest, but another pair of arms were placed behind their back. This undoubtedly identified the intruder.
He whispered the demon's name, feeling a mixture of fear and admiration at the Keeper of the Secrets' ability to appear without his knowledge.
"Enkali".
"Eldrad".
The voice was like silk, penetrating the soul, gentle yet firm.
Simply uttering the prophet's name could evoke desire, like an invitation to pleasure. The demon laughed, revealing its sharp teeth.
"My dear, you didn't come to drive me away. Let me guess, you're so eager to see me because you want to peek behind the veil of secrets, aren't you?"
Do you think this can tempt me?
The demon shrugged. Its four arms looked quite expressive.
“My kin didn’t become known as ‘Guardians of Secrets’ for no reason.” Enkali waved half of his hand toward the waterfall.
“I will not interfere. I guarantee that.”
"Oh, as if the devil's words carry weight," the prophet retorted sarcastically.
Enkali feigned injury, but still wore a sly smile. He knew Eldrad would take the bait; he was waiting there to deliver a message to the prophet.
“Drink it, Prophet, for this is why you have come.” Enkali scooped a cup of water from the waterfall for Eldrad; these unfinished tears were the liquid that would reveal the future.
But Eldrad didn't take it. Instead, he picked up the cup made of soul glass and carefully, personally, scooped a small sip from the splashing liquid beside it.
Making a deal with a demon is never a good thing, let alone listening to a demon, especially when the other party is the great demon Slaanesh.
But the prophet has no choice; if a person who predicts the future cannot see it, then he is no different from a person who is blind.
Eldrad must grasp the future trends in order to guide their people onto the right path.
The flames of the unfinished tears pierced Eldrad's soul, nearly swallowing him whole. The hall in his eyes began to spin, becoming a cycle that would never end. He was but a speck of dust in this vortex, swept along by its merciless power.
Amidst the crackling and scorching of the fiery vortex, he heard Enkali's mockery. Pride. The demon, through his pride—his unwavering belief in the righteousness of his goal—defeated him.
But pride also saved him.
The thought of being tricked by the devil immediately ignited his anger, which then became his unshakable foundation and the pillar of his core.
This arrogant stubbornness refused to let his soul be completely washed away by the waterfall.
He inhaled the flames and drank more water, drawing strength from them rather than fighting against them.
He then broke free from the raging water and descended in a golden halo, still holding the vial and cane.
The demon revealed its form, undulating and transforming into a towering monster with purple flesh, clawed limbs, and a bovine face.
His jewel-like eyes frowned as he stared at the prophet.
There was nothing to be discouraged about; he hadn't come here to deal with the Prophet in the first place. Of course, if he could, Enkali would absolutely hope that the trap he had set would lead Eldrad down a path of corruption.
Eldrad knelt before Enkali, but this was not submission... for the golden flames burning in his eyes ignited a vision of the future!
Piercing through the terrifying storm, Eldrad stared wide-eyed, brazenly peering into the future, his greed unlike that of an old prophet.
He saw figures fighting wildly in the blood-red wasteland, one large and one small... but their strength seemed to be equal, with only endless roars and wildly joyful laughter.
The battle entangled the entire Blood Realm, and as a result, the war between the other three gods also took on a one-sided nature!
The cold sun watched indifferently, but at this moment, its gaze fell upon Eldrad, and the psionic energy that almost burned away his soul made the old prophet tremble... But the voice conveyed only a simple message!
The old prophet held his breath; he saw deeper and deeper!
He saw into the depths of that withered and decaying garden!
He saw the Comoros engulfed in flames of blood!
He saw the awakened giant! He saw...
A terrifying bolt of lightning tore the entire galaxy apart!
Eldrad returned to the present! His thoughts traveled through time and space to the future, but what he saw there caused his heart to stop!
"So? Is the future interesting?" Enkali looked at him mockingly.
Eldrad remained silent; he simply stood up and suppressed the terror that emanated from the depths of his soul.
He ignored Enkali's mockery and made no attempt to guard against him... because he knew that this keeper of secrets had come simply to obey his master's orders.
He wouldn't harm himself—how ridiculous that a Slaanesh's Keeper of Secrets would honestly not intend to harm an Eldar prophet, rather than eagerly abduct him and offer him to the Slaanesh as a snack.
"It seems you have seen what you wanted to see. Very good. My Lord will be very much looking forward to seeing what you can accomplish."
The demon stepped back, bowed mockingly, and licked its tongue through its fangs. The door in the wall opened, and in the golden glow, the demon and the portal vanished together.
When he finally awoke from the psychedelic vision, Eldrad sat in a simple chair in his special room, surrounded by objects that had only appeared briefly in his long life.
None of them could serve as a means of survival for him, but when he looked at his bare hands, he saw the patterns of crystal spreading along his veins and bone marrow, taking root and solidifying within him. After the freedom of his soul's journey, his body was nearly paralyzed, and from head to toe, there was no part of him that was not in pain.
But he paid no heed to the pain, for upon waking he saw golden flames burning within the glass bottle containing his soul—
The human emperor, who to the Eldar was no different from a god, had just protected Eldrad.
Why? He didn't know. The vision of the future nearly shattered the old prophet's mind, but he always believed in his experience—prophecies are not absolutely reliable; they always present unexpected problems.
After an unknown amount of time, Eldrad struggled to his feet. He regained his breathing, but remained extremely weak.
But he still entered the subspace, once again.
This time, however, his thoughts did not leap into the ocean, but rather immersed themselves in one of the countless islands—an island with countless theaters and plays performed within them.
Eldrad's thoughts were only enough to allow him to send a message, but that was sufficient.
"Head to Comoros and kill that human named Bai Qianshuang!"
After Eldrad sent the message to the Froststar Theatre, he completely lost consciousness.
33. The Boring Days in Prison
Within the dungeons of Comoros, time becomes something elastic.
A few seconds can turn into days or weeks, while months or years can pass in minutes.
Within this network hub, which is close to the subspace, time itself has become unstable.
All of Krom's injuries had healed, and he was healthier than ever. Only the shadow in his heart had never truly faded.
He couldn't help but look at the cell opposite.
The guy named Guo Zhen, wearing power armor with their Space Wolf paint scheme... but actually a combat brother with white scars, was staring blankly at the wall.
The treatment did work for him, but the effect was limited.
The butcher's nail was pulled out of his brain, but the process still seemed to have damaged his prefrontal cortex.
This was not a fatal injury for the Space Marines, but much of the severe brain damage caused by the Butcher's Nail remains unexplored.
Even Akkhan, the former mechanical sage of the Emperor, didn't understand the damage and some of the principles behind Butcher's Spike, let alone someone like him...
What... thing?
Crom bared his teeth, refusing to acknowledge Bai Qian Shuang as a normal human being, whether from the perspective of a Space Marine or Imperial currency.
To say that he is a mutant like those illegal psychics is too lenient on him.
Crom dared to guarantee, in Ruth's name, that beneath that guy's human skin lay a structure and genes completely different from those of ordinary humans.
Otherwise, how could he possibly drive that outrageous force called "magnetic field rotation"?
Krom understands magnetic fields; he comprehends these basic scientific concepts. He even almost became a technical sergeant to study on Mars—but precisely because he understands them, he doesn't comprehend them at all.
Is something like a magnetic field something that the human body can control?
Krom understood that there were many strange aliens in this universe, who possessed many superpowers that humans could not understand.
But 90% of the special abilities here are related to the subspace...
Most supernatural phenomena in this universe are equivalent to subspace disturbances.
But to control a magnetic field through one's own body or genes, not to mention the destructive power and incredible ability to reconstruct the cells of others—
Don't be ridiculous. If those biological sages knew about this, they'd go crazy.
Although the things those motor enthusiasts did and the beliefs they held made them incredibly far removed from science...
However, something that so directly overturns their basic knowledge will definitely make those motor enthusiasts both enthusiastic and afraid.
Tsk, who knows, maybe this guy will go on a trip to Mars and end up finding a pair of die-hard fans who believe in him.
Krom stared at the dark cell, idly pondering what could be considered heretical matters.
Comoros' influence on Astartes seems to be growing stronger. To put it somewhat blasphemously, after Krom entered Comoros, the imperial glory gradually faded from the depths of his heart, not to mention the sacred texts and precepts of Astartes.
Although the Book of Astartes was just like toilet paper in the eyes of the Space Wolves, well... never mind.
Just as Krom was lost in thought, the dungeon door opened.
Bai Qianshuang calmly returned to her cell...
He didn't look like a gladiator who had just returned from a bloody battle... rather, he looked like a leisurely commoner from a garden world who had just strolled through the streets and returned home.
"How many aliens did you kill this time, or how many Imperial citizens did you wipe out?"
"It was more of an instinctive jealousy of freedom beneath my numbness than a question," Jomond said somberly.
"I don't know," Bai Qianshuang said calmly as she returned to her cell.
"They strangled a few strange-looking things, then killed a few mentally unstable humans. I don't know if they were citizens of your empire... but dying here is a blessing for them, isn't it?"
"You might as well let us go out and fight!"
Jomond gripped the alloy edge of the cage and grinned at Bai Qianshuang...
"We're not going to sit here and rot!"
"Calm down, Brother Jomond, watch your temper!" Beorick said sternly.
"We've been stuck here for who knows how long. If this continues, we might really rot here!"
Jomond muttered with dissatisfaction, looking down. For an Astartes, dying on the battlefield was by no means a torturous or bad thing... but rotting in an alien prison was an outcome he would never accept.
"If you're not satisfied, I can arrange a gladiatorial match for you."
Bai Qianshuang looked at the restless wolf cub, revealing her gleaming white teeth with a mocking smile...
"I can even arrange for you to fight a few more Chaos Astartes... If you're lucky, you might even run into some traitors from your Space Wolves. I heard that the Poison Tongue Arena has actually managed to snag a few recently!"
"Provoking us will not do you any good."
Yin Zhi stared at Bai Qian Shuang and said in a deep voice, but the latter just shrugged and said indifferently...
"Why do you feel ashamed of this? Isn't it normal for a chapter to have traitors?"
It's common for traitors to emerge from the Astartes Chapter. After all, if they didn't have traitors, how could the Great Evil God GW sell out the pieces of Chaos Astartes?
