"He is compassionate, he is great, he saves the world!" Kotomine Riko retorted excitedly.

"And our strength and miracles are useless before the Lord! Father Anderson, haven't you seen that?!"

“Baptismal chanting is a miracle bestowed upon us by the Lord, but the Lord is not the only one in this world who can ignore miracles.” Beside Andersen, Liz, the Grand Master of the Inquisition, stepped forward and said in a deep voice…

This girl, clad in heavy silver armor and wielding a violin-shaped spear and shield, is the youngest commander of the knights, known as the "Saintess of the Fortress," the "Knight of the Holy Shield," and the "Mediator of Music and Law."

He was a believer among believers and a favorite of Cardinal Guthelbarne. Although he was lazy by nature, his faith was absolutely unquestionable!

He followed his adoptive father's orders to punish this false idol, not only because it was the cardinal's command, but also because of his own faith!

“And I can’t feel any divine radiance in him!”

Yes, this is the biggest reason why everyone present, including the burial staff, did not regard Jesus Christ as their God.

They felt no divine grace or awe from him, yet he might bring "miracles"...

But miracles can always be created by humans, and the true God should be even greater and more sublime!

Either it will be the arrival of Judgment Day to bring about a new judgment for the world, or it will be the form of a radiant deity, filling the invisible earth with the Lord's majesty!

But what about Jesus Christ?

He traveled throughout Japan, creating countless miracles and saving countless people from suffering. But he never preached his own doctrines, nor did he ever speak of divine favors.

He silently and wordlessly saves the world. Undoubtedly, he is a great man, yet they cannot acknowledge him as their master!

"If you don't spread faith, are you unworthy to be my Lord?" Kotomine Risei, and everyone else, looked at them with pity.

"Everything you do is for the Lord you believe in, and so did we, but... has your 'God' ever truly heard our prayers? Without the foundation of magic, can't we even perform miracles?"

"Undoubtedly, you may be able to sense the Lord's presence, but why do you rebuke our Lord? We follow Him because we feel His greatness, His holiness, His purity..."

"Did the Lord save the blind so that they might have faith? Did the Lord save those who had fallen into the water for the sake of believers? Did the Lord willingly bear the sins of the world just for their worship?"

“If our Lord is filled with such utilitarianism, if our Lord is someone who will go to hell if he is not believed in, then what is the difference between him and Satan?”

Led by Kotomine Risei, the believers began to question the doctrine...

Perhaps they were believers like these people before, firmly believing in the stories in the Bible, and that even kind people who do not believe in the Lord will fall into LIMBO (the edge of hell), and only those who believe in the Lord are worthy of salvation after death.

They believe that those who do not believe in the Lord are deeply sinful, and that all miracles outside of the Lord's grace are heresies that need to be eradicated!

However, after following Jesus Christ, they abandoned this self-centered idea.

They were touched by the kindness and silence of Jesus Christ, whose good deeds, gifts, and miracles never asked for anything in return, not even the reward of faith.

He was simply helping, guiding, and rescuing those in need.

Undoubtedly, he did not embody any of the sacredness of classical plebeians; he was like a silent good man who traveled the world to save anyone who deserved to be saved.

But it was precisely this purity and simplicity that touched these believers who once regarded the Bible as a proverb.

They began to question, or rather, to believe that Jesus Christ before them was their true Lord.

And perhaps the Lord who once walked across Europe, walked in Rome, was just like that.

He never had any intention of conveying his doctrines to others; he simply wanted to help everyone and those he could.

And those people who follow the Lord and believe in Him, they may have once served Him wholeheartedly, just as I have.

Until God departed to bear the sins of the world, until they lost their faith and reliance, they fell into confusion.

Then, in order to fill the void in their hearts, they began to fabricate scriptures, they began to speculate on the will of the Lord, and thus, they passed down the church.

Passed down from generation to generation, repeated year after year, the true meaning gradually becomes distorted in the process of being disseminated countless times. It begins to become greedy, lose its purity, and become incomprehensible.

Adorn the sacred, place it on the altar, proclaim divine grace, and unleash divine punishment.

Countless stories that did not belong to the Lord were forcibly imposed on him; what was clearly Deucalion and Pyrrha's Flood Ark was turned into the Bible's Noah's Ark.

What was clearly a battle between Set and Olissis turned into Cain and Abel in the Bible; what were clearly gods in Roman mythology became angels serving the Lord; what were clearly the sun god of the Semites became the chief of demons in hell.

Even the most devout believers who spread his teachings have gone astray under the influence of erroneous scriptures.

They can no longer understand the Lord's true meaning because the Lord's true meaning has been completely distorted through countless retellings.

They no longer act out of kindness, but rather hurt others to prove themselves right.

In fact, after saying so much, Kotomine Risei and the others did not want to claim that they were the so-called "orthodox".

Throughout the Church's long history, countless incomprehensible wars have erupted over this foolish issue of orthodoxy.

They simply wanted to say that they were just following the Lord they believed in, doing more of what should be done, doing good, saving, and expressing the Lord's true will on His behalf.

They have no intention of vying for faith; they do not need people's tribute or offerings. The Lord is here, and the Lord needs none of these things. What right do those who follow the Lord have to demand anything in His name?

They didn't want to fight for faith, or even to seize the name of the Lord. Because in their eyes, those who followed the Lord were no longer a pack of sheepdogs, but merely a group of people imitating Him.

Why must the Lord be a high and mighty deity, and not just a person who wholeheartedly wants to do good?

Kindness may be contagious, making faith so pure. They firmly believe that if a god who encourages people to do good is himself narrow-minded and petty, how can he be qualified to call himself a god?

They firmly believe in what they believe and follow what they follow, nothing more.

However, such behavior cannot gain the approval of these fanatical believers.

"heresy!"

Father Andersen roared with fury like a storm, and all the thirteen executioners followed him as they charged madly toward Jesus Christ...

The Knights of Inquisition raised their weapons, unleashing blazing, holy fire, determined to burn everything before them to ashes.

Their anger stemmed from the fact that they faced true heretics.

In a time when the Church has almost unified all kinds of Catholic beliefs, this is the only heresy that makes them feel extremely angry.

As is well known, heretics are obviously more hated than pagans.

“Narrow-minded, fanatical, angry, arrogant—the Lord teaches you to do good, and this is how you respond.”

Kotomine Ritsu faced the incoming attack head-on, neither dodging nor evading, but instead made the sign of the cross in front of her chest and bowed her head...

"But...the Lord will still forgive you."

The attack was close, but Jesus Christ did not utter a single word. He neither dodged nor evaded, and the countless frenzied attacks still could not get close to him.

Whether it's the raging fire that burns down the fortress, the black key that pierces through purification, the holy light that cleanses evil, or the scriptures that dispel defilement.

He continued onward, and his followers bowed their heads, silently following their Lord.

This silent attitude, however, already demonstrated the utmost contempt. They cared nothing for them, turning a blind eye to any harm or attack.

Moreover, Jesus Christ protects everyone who is thrown back by the forces around him, allowing them to land safely without being harmed by his own attacks.

But isn't this the Lord's teaching?

Jesus said to his followers: “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.’ But I tell you this.”

Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other cheek to him as well. If someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him take your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him to the other mile. Give to anyone who asks you for a favor, and do not refuse anyone who wants to borrow from you.

Those they consider heretics are firmly believing in the Lord's teachings and unconditionally loving their enemies. Yet, they continue to harm the world in their quest to prove themselves right.

It was like a huge irony, a ridiculous farce, where their enemies, without saying a word, had already won through an unspoken debate.

Hier began to waver strongly. She was supposed to act as the ace of the burial agency... but she wavered, feeling that she was not right.

She even abandoned the Seventh Holy Scripture, which had been firing continuously, and stopped in place.

Perhaps the heretic isn't the other party, but oneself?

Melan Solomon, standing beside her, did not think so simply.

Since he doesn't believe in God, he wouldn't have this problem; he just felt that the guy in front of him was... even stranger than he had imagined.

He was not a "child of God" like himself, and not only that, Melan Solomon also felt a strong sense of rejection from him!

His expression was strange, even unusually tense. This man, who was always fearless and had a hidden plan for burying the dead, was now full of tension.

Instead of blessing him, the inhibitory force kept repelling him!

Such a situation is extremely rare, but Melan Solomon knew exactly what kind of situation it would occur!

Outsiders, aliens, visitors from other worlds—only such alien beings that break into Earth's environment would encounter such a counterattack from the suppressive force!

Like the giant spider in Crystal Valley, and if that's really the case—

Could the person before me really be Jesus?

Absolutely impossible, Melion Solomon's reason judged it that way... but the scene now presented to him made his self-righteous rationality seem inaccurate.

He chose to wait and see how this "Jesus Christ" would react to the harm done to his followers.

Attack, attack, relentless attack.

Damage, damage, relentless damage.

In contrast to the hysterical fanatics are those who follow their Lord indifferently; they are compassionate, they are silent, and their silence becomes the best form of contempt.

Who is the heretic: those of you who are causing harm, or those of us who are doing good deeds?

Who is truly the one who has trampled on the Lord's grace?

Our Lord is unmoved, our Lord forgives your violence, you who cry heresy...

That is something far more cruel and tyrannical than the villains who died at your hands.

You are not even as good as Judas who betrayed you—at least Judas repented after realizing his sins and then hanged himself to atone for them.

They didn't speak, nor did they engage in debate like the cardinals in the Sistine Chapel who eloquently and pontificate...

They also did not explain the correctness and greatness of their Lord like those preaching priests.

But their actions were more damaging than any words and more impactful than any debate.

As the attacks gradually subsided, the once fanatical believers began to drop their weapons and weep, covering their faces.

They also felt their own baseness, their own fanaticism, their departure from God's true teachings... and tried to force others to become like them through violence and cruelty.

Even the most fervent believers possess basic morality. They can distinguish between good and bad, right and wrong, but most of the time…

These morals can be easily eroded by the brainwashing education they receive from childhood.

But now, their fanatical attacks have yielded no results, their devout faith has been met with silent contempt, their fervor has faded, and their morality is telling them a different story...

—You are not kind, you are not right, you are nothing but wicked people who commit violence.

Peel away the strong armor of faith, only to discover how despicable one is when wearing that armor.

When doubt begins, faith will inevitably falter.

"Aieeeeeeeeeee!"

Undeterred, Father Andersen showed no sign of stopping or repentance. He roared and shouted, launching one futile charge after another.

He was the most fervent believer in the Church of Christ, he was the thirteenth agent of the traitor Escalius… and he would never allow the faith he had always upheld to be shaken!

Because that was an outcome he absolutely could not accept.

He and all the members of the Thirteen Departments were raised and educated by the Church from a young age.

The priest told them that all the members of the thirteen departments were descendants of sinners, born with sin in their hearts, just like Judas who betrayed Jesus.

A sinner who weaves a rope to hang himself, selling his soul for thirty silver coins.

They must then atone for their sins, and they can only redeem themselves from the original sin of their birth over a long period of time.

They cannot hope to reach heaven through dedication; they can only use sacrifice to reach the edge of hell and continue to atone for their sins in the endless years after death.

That's how he lived his life: atonement, endless wars, purging heretics in the name of God, and sweeping away the church's enemies according to the will of God's spokesperson.

He didn't hesitate to use heretical techniques to modify his body, and everything he did was solely for the purpose of better hunting down heretics and better serving his Lord.

This is why he refused to allow his faith to waver; he upheld his devout belief throughout his life…not for any personal gain, much less for the expansion and prosperity of the church—

All he sought was atonement! To kill and purge in the name of God was merely a storm unleashed by the Lord's will!

His faith was so pure that it could be said to have been purified to the point of containing no other factors, existing only as "faith" itself.

Therefore, he will never waver, and his faith will never be changed!

Despite repeated, unwavering resistance and attacks, even the gentlest counterattacks of Jesus Christ...

Andersen also nearly lost an arm in the impact and was covered in bruises.

The number of followers who followed him gradually dwindled, the Inquisition Knights were gone, the Eighth Mystery Society had ceased operations, and even the Burial Mechanism had only one person left.

Aside from the thirteenth department, these orphans raised by Andersen were children as sinful as he was, constantly striving for redemption.
