Volume 7: The Return of the Saintess

Chapter One: Ella's Divine Kingdom

It was late at night.

The Kingdom of Valen, the Fog City, the Sanctuary.

Inside the luxuriously decorated bedroom, Ella was holding Ye Xiao's arm and examining him closely.

A spider emitting a ghostly white fluorescence lay quietly on Ye Xiao's arm.

After returning to the current normal timeline, the white spider also came to this timeline from Thunder City.

Despite the fact that this thing was very obedient to him and even destroyed Encia's divine kingdom at the crucial moment of the battle in Thunder City, Ye Xiao was still a little worried that there might be some hidden traps.

After all, the spider came from that inexplicable girl in the company, which made Ye Xiao feel uneasy.

Unfortunately, neither Greta nor Ella could find anything amiss during the examination.

"This thing is just a pure spirit, without its own consciousness. At least in my opinion, it is completely dependent on your soul."

That's what Greta said during her examination. Ye Xiao also asked out of curiosity, "What did you see of my soul, Miss?"

"With your looks, what else could you be?"

This was Greta's answer.

This surprised Ye Xiao.

During the civil war in the imperial city, he vaguely remembered that Zhu Jun tried to use shadow magic to capture his soul, and that strange things happened when the old woman fortune teller from the Mansa Islands observed his soul. But why did he seem so normal to Greta?

Unfortunately, Ella's mastery of soul magic was lacking. Even when she got close enough to look at Ye Xiao with her crimson eyes wide open, Ella couldn't discern anything strange about him.

However, from Ye Xiao's perspective, seeing the silver-haired girl's delicate and lovely face close to his and smelling the faint fragrance of jasmine up close, he couldn't help but give her a "smack" of his lips.

Ella's face immediately flushed crimson, like the sunset. She couldn't explain why she felt shy, but she still managed to pull Ye Xiao into her arms, feeling a strange sense of security.

It's quite nice to steal a moment of leisure from my busy schedule, to be undisturbed, and to spend some time with my wife.

Ye Xiao held the obedient saintess on his lap, and then Ella opened her palm and summoned a blood-red sphere that floated above her palm.

This is what the vampire queen Isadora left her before her fall, the divine kingdom that once ravaged the entire Fog City.

Ella didn't understand why Isadora would leave this to her at the end. Perhaps it was a "bribe," hoping that Ella would take good care of the remaining vampires in return for the gift.

Or perhaps there is some deeper meaning, but in any case, Ella is now a god with her own divine kingdom.

Ella, who was suspected to be an Outer God, had never grasped such a thing before. She held it in her hand and examined it curiously. She discovered that if she looked closely, she could clearly see a city composed of small buildings inside the sphere through its pale red outer layer.

It's as if a miniature version of the fog is hidden inside this sphere, held in Ella's palm.

This reminded Ella of the scene where the giant tentacle Lydia placed glass bead-like objects on the tips of her tentacles, which was quite similar.

Lydia has been asleep ever since. Although Ella could still rewind her thoughts to the giant tentacle and play cat's cradle with her own tentacles if she wanted, it was truly boring in that endless, dark void.

That said, how should we use this divine kingdom?

Ella had not received training from the local gods, and even these things that were so basic to the gods of the present world were somewhat confusing to her.

Just as this thought arose in her mind, a pop-up window appeared from the World Tree System, which hadn't made its presence felt for a long time.

[Divine Kingdom Core Unlocked]

[Already set as a holy site by default]

In addition, there is a small option below – “Believers Migrate”.

The girl's eyebrows were slightly raised on her pretty face.

While this system may seem useless, its capabilities at certain times are surprisingly profound and frightening.

Ella clicked on the option, and then another pop-up window appeared.

[Note: Performing a "believer migration" will free your believer's soul from the constraints of the laws of this world and the threads of fate. Please do so only after ensuring the integrity of the laws of God's Kingdom.]

Is it confirmed that a "believer migration" is taking place?

Wow, there's even a warning here, does it mean it's a high-risk operation?

Ella was secretly surprised, but the prompt made her hesitant to press it.

After all, judging from the believer panel, the system counts at least several million believers under her command. If something serious were to happen because of her curiosity, she would immediately break apart.

Given that Greta did indeed teach that the laws of the divine kingdom are self-contained and generally based on the authority controlled by the gods themselves.

However, most newly created deities' kingdoms, due to their singular laws, often cannot form a complete cycle outside the real world. Only as their divine authority gradually strengthens and encompasses more laws will their kingdoms become more complete.

However, such an operation would be rejected by the real world. After all, it is equivalent to stripping away the foundation of an existing world to build one's own world, tearing down someone else's house to build one's own. To the real world, this behavior is no different from robbery.

If this is what the system means by "completeness," then Ella's divine kingdom is indeed far from sufficient.

Rather, it's more accurate to say that no deity currently possesses enough laws to construct a complete world, Ella mused. Having even one divine authority is already a feat, unless one could seize the divine authority of everyone else…

Thinking of this, she suddenly paused.

She opened her other hand, and several clusters of colorful energy appeared.

The Earth of Life, containing the Law of "Life"; Lucyville's Wings, containing the Law of "Space"; Cynthia's Arm, containing the Law of "Beast"; Renata's Web, containing the Law of "Soul"; Osmond's Holy Flame, containing the Law of "Sun"; and Ocean's Tear, which was obtained from Stormport at the time...

Damn, this seems to actually contain quite a few laws?

Ella was stunned. The key point was that, apart from the most suspicious Law of Life, all of these were copied, and they seemed to have no effect on the original world.

To use the laws one has mastered to give birth to other laws, rather than to seize them... Could this be the correct approach to building a complete divine kingdom?

Recalling what Ye Xiao saw when he accidentally stepped into the Undine Kingdom, the fish swimming in that endless ocean had a surface as blue as the sea.

Those established, well-known deities seem to have followed this same path in building their divine kingdoms.

Suddenly, Ella realized that she seemed to have grasped something extraordinary.

Chapter Two: Promotion Ceremony

The blood-red sphere floated silently, occasionally shimmering, like a beating heart.

With that in mind, Ella tried to bring the various divine powers floating in her left hand closer to the divine kingdom she held in her right hand.

Like flying insects attracted by lights, the colorful glows transformed into shooting stars and flew into the sphere.

Although nothing appeared to have changed outwardly, Ella could sense that the laws contained within the divine realm were becoming increasingly abundant.

She brought her gaze closer, thinking that this little world would be more vibrant than before, no longer just an empty city ruin.

Sure enough, the first thing she saw was a silvery-white moon hanging high in the sky, but black flames burned around its edges, making it look quite strange.

In the moonlit city, the original buildings seemed to come alive, their walls covered with countless scarlet eyes, and the tendrils in the streets swayed in the wind like newly born flower fields. The Thames River, which flows through the city center, became a deep black mud rushing about.

"..."

Ella looked at the chaotic scene of demons dancing in what resembled hell, and even she felt a little numb.

But in some ways, this scene, no less than an abyss, is the paradise that her followers should yearn for.

Ella might understand a little why, in some stories she had seen before, devout believers who glimpsed the heaven they were going to through revelation went mad.

However, despite this, Ella could sense that the fundamental laws of her divine kingdom were nearing perfection: life, soul, sun, moon, ocean...

In addition, after Ye Xiao defeated the Thunder Saint Alex at the Vampire Shrine, Ella touched the newly copied Sky Laws from "Sothos, the God of Sky and Lightning" on the corpse of the other party, and her divine kingdom is already much more complete than many gods in the present world.

Hmm... looking at the tentacles and mud inside, at least everyone has something to eat and drink after going in, right?

Ella then used her mind to open the system panel and pressed the option to guide the believers' souls to migrate to the Kingdom of God.

[The divine kingdom migration ceremony is about to take place...]

After the prompt appeared, the system went silent, and the surroundings remained quiet, as if nothing had happened.

It wasn't until Ella noticed that Ye Xiao's brain was becoming increasingly foggy that she suddenly fainted, and the hands that were wrapped around her soft waist fell down.

"Thump thump"

The divine kingdom beat once more like a heart, as if breathing in and out something invisible.

At that moment, Ella clearly sensed her consciousness expanding outwards like a giant spiderweb, like countless tentacles reaching into the void and connecting to every corner of the vast world.

She found it hard to describe the feeling, but it was as if countless thoughts, memories, sights, and emotions—joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness—were pouring into her soul.

But this did not cause Ella pain; on the contrary, she felt a sense of exhilaration as her mind gradually filled up and she gained control over countless souls.

At the same time, millions of people around the world were caught in the same bizarre dream.

They entered an unfamiliar city. Most people only saw empty streets, but a few with higher spiritual vision or a deeper faith in Ella saw more things.

From witnessing the mud stretching as if from the depths of the earth into an abyss, to gazing up at the moon radiating black flames in the thunderous sky, like the eyes of a god looking down upon the earth...

But regardless of which one, this scene, which would drive ordinary people mad, was seen as sacred by these millions of believers.

They unconsciously prostrated themselves on the ground, and even though they did not know the name of the god, the consciousness of the god seeped into their souls like an invisible mist.

If the divine kingdom was previously perceived by Ella as an independent world completely isolated from the real world, then at this moment, Ella has built a bridge connecting the divine kingdom and the real world through the medium of her million believers.

Divine authority is no longer a high-level spell cast through divine power, but rather an extension of the laws of the divine kingdom into the mortal world.

Ella seemed to be beginning to understand how the vampire queen had manipulated the entire Thames River to flow back into the city from the sky.

With a mere flick of her finger, the entire bedroom floor was instantly covered with fine, grassy tendrils, like a field swept by a spring breeze.

This was not laid out with living soil as before, but the bedroom itself became a life manipulated by Ella.

She could even sense that this nascent intelligence was instinctively showing her respect and submission.

Unfortunately, there seemed to be an invisible, subtle force that slightly restricted Ella's use of her divine power.

She could have brought this entire city to life in an instant, but now the scope is limited to slowly expanding outwards from this one room.

This might be the limitation of the Holy Light Law that Isadora mentioned?

In other words, the current world of the New Gods does not allow such powerful divine forces to exist, as it would disrupt the order.

Once Ella understood, she clenched her five fingers and casually dispelled the life she had given to the bedroom.

...But then again, does this count as killing?

Ella had overlooked the fact that whether such a philosophical question was logically sound was perhaps up to her to decide.

Some gods regard the life they create as children, while others regard it as worthless weeds. Thinking about it this way, different gods must also have their own set of different rules.

Ella believes she should still stand on the side of order or neutrality, even though her own attributes are quite chaotic.

The migration ceremony has been completed.

[Number of citizens registered in the Divine Kingdom: 2147731]

"More than two million, huh?" Ella stroked her chin. She could sense from her consciousness that most of her followers were in the Loren area, or more precisely, in the imperial city.

However, these believers belong to a relatively low level. Ella can influence their minds to some extent, but she cannot grant them much power.

And now there are still some scattered on the sea, presumably those pirates who have been recruited into the Holy Light Revelation Society. Ella can clearly send divine messages to some of their leaders, and even bestow punishments or blessings.

Meanwhile, Ye Xiao finally woke up from the dream he had been forced into, and the short nap left him feeling refreshed.

As Ella's closest follower, Ye Xiao's ability to use divine magic has also increased. After all, he should be considered as Ella's pope, although probably not many of the more than two million followers know his name.

But it doesn't matter.

Ye Xiao held the small girl in his arms, pressing her even closer to him. After all, having his own god be intimate with him was enough, wasn't it?

Chapter Three: Initial Formation

A night of deep sleep goes without saying.

When Ye Xiao woke up in bed, the curtains covering the window were already letting in the bright yellow sunlight.

Before me stood a gentle, jade-like young girl, her silver hair cascading down her pillow, her rosy cheeks framed by a pair of beautiful, bright red eyes that sparkled with a charming smile, and her collarbone and delicate neck faintly visible beneath the down comforter.

Perhaps Ye Xiao's physique had improved considerably through these trials, or perhaps Ella had realized that she couldn't exhaust the resources and consciously restrained herself, because this time Ye Xiao didn't turn into a dried-up human body like before.
