Prologue

Tomorrow is Rudy's tenth birthday.

I really want to go celebrate Rudy's birthday; it's been almost three years since I last saw him. But Dad said we're not allowed to see each other until Rudy comes back.

Rudy's not here, and I'm so lonely with no one to play with. I wonder if Rudy will make friends with other girls in his new place... I overheard Rudy talking to Uncle Paul, and it seemed like Rudy had a dream of building a harem all over the world.

Although I don't know what a harem means, it seems to be a lot, lots, lots of girls. Hmph ╯^╰ Rudy the womanizer. But Dad said Rudy will likely serve the royal family in the palace, and there might be more than one woman who becomes his wife. What's the royal family? Can you eat them? But I think I've heard Rudy mention them before. However, to be worthy of Rudy, I must study magic and etiquette diligently; I can't let him down.

Today, as usual, I went to Rudy's house to learn etiquette and magic from Aunt Lilia and Aunt Janice.

"Demon! I'm talking to you, demon!"

A few boys stood by the roadside, grinning mischievously and shouting arrogantly.

"Well!"

After Rudy left, those bad kids came back, but I wasn't so easy to bully, and I couldn't let them manipulate me like they used to.

"Oh~ The demons are angry, hahaha!"

"Ice cone!"

I used magic, aiming it at those bad guys, and instantly, sharp ice spikes as tall as a person rose from beneath their feet. Because Rudy had warned me not to use magic to hurt people, I only used it to scare them away. If I had actually hurt them, it might have caused trouble for Dad.

"Ah!!! The demons are killing people! The demons are killing people! Run! Run!"

Those cowards ran away crying.

After Rudy left, I used the magic book he gave me to teach myself magic. Currently, I've mastered the four types of attack magic, except for fire and earth magic, which are still at the intermediate level. I've also learned advanced healing magic from Aunt Janes. I can use all of these without chanting, while Rudy doesn't seem to know how to use healing magic without chanting. This is the only area where I'm better than Rudy.

After crossing a field, we soon arrived at Rudy's house. My house was quite far from Rudy's; it almost required crossing the entire village.

"Good morning, Aunt Janes, Aunt Lilia!"

"Hello, Silphie."

"Sister Sylphie~"

Aisha ran towards me, and I picked her up in my arms. Aisha and Noren are three years old this year, and they are two very, very cute girls. Aisha is closer to me, while Noren always snuggles up to Aunt Jane.

According to Aunt Janice, Rudy was able to perform intermediate magic tricks without chanting when he was three years old, but his two younger sisters did not have such talent.

I gently put Aisha down and patted her head. What a lovely child.

"Aunt Janice, Aunt Lilia, what are we going to learn today?"

"Today..."

In the morning, I learned the court etiquette of the Kingdom of Asura from Aunt Lilia. After lunch, I continued to learn healing magic from Aunt Janis.

Time passed quickly, and just as I was about to go home, Uncle Paul returned.

"I am back."

"Welcome back," the two women said at the same time.

Uncle Paul is a knight who guards the border for the lord. Sometimes he leads my father, other hunters, and the village guards into the forest to hunt monsters. When Uncle Paul comes home, it's about the same time it's time for me to go home.

"Hello, Uncle Paul."

“Sylphie is here too.”

"It's about time I went home. Goodbye, Uncle and Auntie~"

"Hello, be careful on your way! Come play again tomorrow!"

……

“Honey, take this with you when you go to Roya tomorrow.” Janice handed a sweater to Paul.

I peered out the window, secretly watching the room. Although I knew it wasn't a good idea, I figured my dad and Uncle Paul wouldn't allow me to go to Rudy's birthday party.

Where is Roya?

"Silphie?"

"Aaaaaah! Aunt Lilia!"

Aunt Lilia suddenly appeared behind us.

"It's already dark. If you don't go home soon, Mr. Roltz will be worried."

"I'm...I'm sorry."

Uncle Paul and Aunt Janice, who were inside the house, also looked in this direction.

Finally, Uncle Paul took me home.

……

"Uncle Paul, tomorrow..."

"No."

My words were rejected before I could even finish speaking. I almost burst into tears.

"Why...why..."

"Oh, I can't do anything with you. What can I do? Your uncle is completely powerless against cute girls. How about this, when you get home, ask Mr. Roltz. If he agrees, I'll take you to Rudy's birthday party."

"Ah! Thank you, Uncle!"

"But you have to get your dad's permission first. Also, once you get there, you can't stay and not leave."

"Uh-huh!"

"Also, you can't go to Rudy on your own. You have to be patient."

"Uh-huh!"

Uncle agreed? That's fantastic! I can see Rudy tomorrow. I wonder how Rudy is doing; he must be even more handsome and powerful now. Just thinking about it...

And so, they skipped and hopped all the way home.

Finally, after much pleading and cajoling, Dad agreed. This was the first time I had ever cried and begged my parents to make such an unreasonable request.

My mother took a white hat out of the cupboard and told me not to take it off no matter what tomorrow. Was it because of my green hair?

……

The next morning, Uncle Paul rode his horse to pick me up at the door. He gently lifted me onto the horse, and I put on my hat and sat in the front.

"Be careful on the road! Don't cause Uncle Paul any trouble."

"Thank you for your help, Mr. Paul!"

Goodbye, Mom and Dad!

Chapter 1: My Tenth Birthday (Part 1)

The manor was much busier than usual today. Everyone, from servants to young ladies, was incredibly busy.

"Alphonse, it's time to get the stuff out."

"Yes, young master."

Young Master Philip was lying on the sofa, holding a notebook in his hand that I couldn't understand. The contents of the notebook seemed to be related to Rudius Greirat, the new governess who had arrived a few years ago.

Rudius was a very peculiar person.

It is said that he became a Water Saint-level magician at the age of only five. When he was seven, he came here to work as a tutor and successfully rescued the young lady in the kidnapping case plotted by the previous butler. He even managed to train the unruly young lady into an elegant lady in just one month.

Rudius, despite his young age, can already converse on equal footing with adults like us who have lived for thirty or forty years. Talking with him even makes me feel inferior due to my own lack of experience. This child has the demeanor of a gentleman, the mindset of a politician, and the cunning of a businessman. This is truly inconsistent with his father's terrible reputation—no, it is truly inconsistent with the title of "child," and it truly shatters my perception of his abilities at his age.

I could sense a clear change in young master Philip's eyes when he looked at Rudeus. Perhaps the politically defeated young master discovered something in Rudeus. Perhaps, in the near future, Rudeus will marry Lady Alice.

I went into the treasure room and took out the staff that the master had just purchased. This precious staff, worth 1,500 Asura gold coins, would be given to the main character of today's banquet. However, before the banquet began, I placed it in the back of the hall for use during the banquet.

Just then, a junior servant ran over and whispered to me that an important person had arrived. I told him to inform the master, young master, and young lady as I hurried out of the mansion.

Two people were waiting in the living room. I recognized one of them—Paul Greirat, Rudius's father. But beside him was a little girl, about eight or nine years old, of the Long-eared tribe, wearing a white straw hat, and a beautiful young woman. She seemed very quiet, a stark contrast to my "lively and active" eldest daughter, but her clothes were very simple, a stark contrast to Mr. Paul's elegant attire. She probably wasn't Mr. Paul's child.

"Good evening, Mr. Paul... and... this lady, you must be tired from your journey."

I instructed the other servants to prepare tea for the two of them.

"Yes, thank you."

Mr. Paul gulped down his tea in one go, quite rudely, while the young lady beside him seemed rather awkward. However, it must be said that this young lady had clearly studied etiquette, as evidenced by her manners.

"Hey, Mr. Paul, it's been a long time. How have you been?"

As Mr. Philip entered the living room, Mr. Paul and the young lady both stood up.

"Thanks to Mr. Philip."

"And who is this?" Young Master Philip looked at the young lady beside him, seemingly quite interested in her.

Mr. Paul began by introducing the two of them to each other:

"Let me introduce you. This little girl is Hilfiet from the village of Buena, and she is my son's childhood friend."

Then the young lady named Hilfiet gracefully bowed to Master Philip. She was indeed a well-mannered lady, a world apart from my young mistress.

"This is Mr. Philip Boreas Grerat, the mayor of this city and the lord's son."

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Miss Hilfiet. Your manners are far more refined than those of my young lady.”

"You flatter me, sir."

Miss Sylphie smiled shyly after hearing this and returned the greeting perfectly. My young lady should really learn from her. This country girl's manners are enough to shame countless socialites.

"I heard Paul's here?! I've come to see if he's still the same old jerk!"

With a deafening roar, the lord appeared. His appearance immediately startled Miss Sylphie, but she forced herself to bow to Paul.

"Uncle, it's been many years since we last met, but you're still as young and vigorous as ever."

"Hmph." The master merely snorted and swaggered away.

“Miss Hilfiet? Don’t be afraid, Father is always like this. He often scares children to tears with his rough manner.”

When young Master Philip saw that Miss Sylphine was about to cry, he gently comforted her.

"Philip! You're talking badly about me behind my back! Don't think I can't hear you!"

A rough voice came from outside the room again.

When will I be able to see Rudy?

Miss Hilfi stared at Mr. Paul and asked in a soft voice.

"The banquet will begin soon, Mr. Alphonse. Please take the two of you to the banquet hall first."

"Yes, young master."
