Chapter 13 I Speak to Him Personally (Please Read On)

Miranda Carter?

Guderian took two seconds to recall the blonde, blue-eyed, and curvaceous German girl.

This girl, in her final exam for "Dragon Genealogy" last semester, wrote about "the bloodline branch of the King of Bronze and Fire" as a poignant interspecies love triangle novel.

She wasn't satisfied with filling out the answer sheet; in fact, she became more and more excited as she wrote. She flipped the answer sheet over and filled in the details on the back of the melodramatic misunderstanding between the two second-generation individuals over their struggle for mating rights.

They twisted that ancient dragon history, filled with betrayal, slaughter, and flames, into a third-rate soap opera.

It was only natural that he failed! Even Professor Guderian, a well-known "good guy," saw the exam paper and his hand holding the red pen still trembled like a Parkinson's patient, so angry that he pulled out a large clump of his hair.

To avoid failing her course and jeopardizing her graduation, Miranda shamelessly pestered him in his office for a whole week, causing him to suffer a migraine and take medication for three days straight.

Finally, when he was forced into a corner, he had no choice but to use his power against his will to open a back door and allow her to exchange her fieldwork performance for GPA.

What world-threatening events could such an academically challenged student possibly encounter? Probably riding his electric scooter into a ditch, or getting food poisoning while on surveillance and needing to call for international medical assistance.

Guderian pursed his lips, slumped back into his chair, and lay there half-reclined, waiting for the person on the other end of the phone to speak.

The moment the connection was established, Miranda's loud voice exploded in the surround sound system of the control room.

"Professor! What a discovery! I've found a gem for the college!"

Guderian's ears throbbed from the shockwave. He quickly spoke into the microphone to remind the person on the other end: "Miranda, calm down! As a student of Kassel College, even when facing the awakened Dragon King, you must maintain your elegance!"

The rapid breathing on the other end of the phone was clearly audible.

Miranda didn't hear a single word, throwing all pretense of elegance to the winds, and rattled off the events of the evening.

It all started with losing track of the target, then following the location to an abandoned factory where he stumbled upon a murder. Next, he met Chu Zihang, and finally, the story revolves around Lin Yuan, a "wild" mixed-race individual who turned the tables and became Deadpool's target.

Of course, in this report, she intentionally or unintentionally omitted the "spiritual vision".

Even she herself didn't know why she had to hide this detail.

Perhaps what she saw in her spiritual vision was too terrifying, and her intuition told her that if she were to say it out loud, the consequences would be far beyond what a mediocre student who just wanted to go to Hawaii to sunbathe could handle. It was safest to play dumb.

On the other end of the phone, Guderian had no interest in listening to the details of the battle that followed.

When the "lost target" and "civilian deaths" occurred, nothing else mattered, and he rudely interrupted Miranda's rambling.

"Enough, Miranda. Civilian casualties during a field mission are a serious operational incident."

This kind-hearted professor had a frighteningly stern tone.

"You will not only not receive any academic credits for this summer internship, but you will also face a hearing from the disciplinary committee when you return to school."

He thought this loud and boisterous girl had some big news to report, but it turned out she had just messed up a very basic surveillance task.

"Professor Schneider will be in the control room soon. You can explain it to him directly later. Good luck."

Guderian glanced up at the mechanical clock on the wall and reached out to hang up the phone.

"No, no, no! Professor, please don't hang up yet!" Miranda panicked when she heard Professor Schneider's name.

In this life-or-death situation, she didn't care about proceeding step by step and quickly played the cards she held in her hand in an attempt to turn the tide.

"Aren't you even a little bit curious about what kind of Word of Power Lin Yuan has awakened?!"

Upon hearing this, Guderian stopped hanging up the phone and became slightly interested.

Being able to awaken on its own and even kill the corrupted Deadpool, its bloodline rating is likely not low.

He successively reported several dangerous words of power that were ranked in the 50th or 60th place on the sequence list.

Miranda, on the other end of the phone, decisively rejected them all.

Need to be even further forward?

Guderian was getting restless and leaned forward slightly: "Stop beating around the bush, just tell me."

“I saw him control the free charges in the air and create lightning on his hands.” Miranda spoke each word with utmost seriousness.

Guderian paused, his eyebrows furrowing. "Are you sure you saw it clearly? You're not mistaking a static spark for a spell, are you?"

"Professor! Although my grades aren't good, I'm still a junior!" Miranda was so anxious on the other end of the phone that she wished she could crawl over to testify.

"I can absolutely distinguish between static electricity and the power of words."

Guderian fell silent, and the only sound in the control room was the low hum of the servers running.

As a professor at Kassel College, he was well aware of the weight that this power of words carried if Miranda's words were true.

High-risk spell, sequence 92, forbidden zone.

It represents the power of ultimate destruction and violence.

Relying solely on the power of words, under certain extreme weather conditions, it could even possess the strength to fight against a next-generation species.

On the other end of the phone, Miranda held her breath, eagerly anticipating her mentor's excited praise and amazement.

However, Guderian's first reaction was to be wary.

The stronger the dragon bloodline within a hybrid, the lower the awakened Word of Power rank will be.

However, once the dragon bloodline surpasses the human bloodline, the human genes will be irreversibly devoured by the dragon genes, eventually losing consciousness and degenerating into 'Deadpool'.

"How is he doing now? Is there any sign that he's getting out of control?"

“Very stable! It doesn’t show any signs of going crazy!” Miranda replied without hesitation.

"Or should I say that the academy has struck gold?"

Guderian's mind immediately started working. Although Miranda was terrible at theoretical lessons, she shouldn't be wrong about such common sense judgments.

That means that this is truly a genius who has mastered high-level incantations and has a stable bloodline.

He thought of his good-for-nothing Fingel, who repeated grades year after year and got worse and worse. This year, it seemed that the academy was preparing to give him an unprecedented E-grade rating.

Because of this guy, he's still stuck with the title of "assistant professor" and worries every day about how to get a permanent position.

If he could seize this opportunity and recruit this genius as his student, wouldn't his tenure as a professor be a sure thing?

Just then, the mechanical clock on the wall made a soft "click," as if reminding him that Professor Schneider would be coming to hand over the shift soon.

If Schneider knew, he would definitely snatch this promising talent away.

This must not be allowed to happen!

"Miranda, hand him the phone. I want to talk to him in person."

Chapter 14 Is the bloodline really stable?

Miranda carefully held the phone up to Lin Yuan's face, her emerald green eyes filled with anticipation.

A flurry of activity came from the other end of the line; the person seemed to be tidying themselves up. Then, a somewhat ingratiating voice came through the microphone.

"Hello, is this Lin Yuan? I'm Professor Guderian from Kassel College."

Lin Yuan gave a nonchalant "hmm".

Guderian didn't mind and continued enthusiastically, "Miranda has already told me about your amazing performance tonight. After evaluation, I think you are very talented. Even in the nearly 100-year history of Kassel College, a genius like you is extremely rare."

He spared no praise, appearing eager to recruit talented individuals.

"A genius like you is exactly what we at Kassel have been dreaming of. So, how about it? Are you interested in studying at our academy?"

A hint of surprise flashed in Lin Yuan's eyes. The other party's attitude was unusually urgent.

When Miranda was excitedly shouting "I've struck gold" on the phone, he vaguely guessed that the lightning enchantment of his Azure Dragon Fruit was probably being mistaken for some kind of extraordinary ability by her.

But given the professor's current humble attitude, Lin Yuan was certain that the professor's desire for him was even more outrageous than he had anticipated.

However, Lin Yuan didn't just agree so readily.

It's not a business to rush into a sale. The more eager the other party seems to be for talent, the more he should raise his own value.

"Professor, this is only our first phone call, and we haven't even met in person yet. Isn't it a bit hasty to talk about admissions?" Lin Yuan pretended to be very concerned.

On the other end of the phone, Guderian laughed twice: "Lin Yuan, you're confusing us with those mediocre schools."

"Caselle doesn't care about those formalities. We only recognize one thing, and that's talent. Once we discover a talented young person, we'll extend an invitation to him immediately."

After saying that, Guderian pressed his hand on the microphone, lowered his voice, and quickly gave an order before Lin Yuan could reply.

"Norma, check this child's file and get all the useful information!"

Almost as soon as he finished speaking, a detailed file appeared on the circular screen in front of him.

Name, school registration, family background, and so on are all included.

Guderian quickly scanned the data, his gaze finally settling on a certain spot, a confident smile playing on his lips.

On the other end of the phone, Lin Yuan continued to control the pace of the negotiation: "Besides, judging from the name 'Kassel,' your school must be located overseas, right?"

Miranda quickly moved closer, covered her lips with her hand, and whispered, "In the United States, in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois."

Lin Yuanxin understood and immediately followed up on this point: "To be honest, I'm more used to life in my own country than to going to a strange country halfway around the world. Going to university overseas, in a place where I don't know anyone, would raise too many concerns."

In the central control room, Guderian's smile deepened as he listened to this high-sounding excuse.

“A deep attachment to one’s homeland is a very precious quality, and the college fully respects your personal wishes.” The old professor’s tone was measured and confident, revealing a sense of certainty about the other party.

"However, Lin Yuan, although your college entrance examination results haven't been released yet, based on your most recent mock exam score..."

Lin Yuan's fingers, which were holding the phone, stiffened slightly, and a bad feeling suddenly rose in his heart.

Guderian cleared his throat and began reading ruthlessly from the screen: "Math 23 points, English 15 points, science combined less than 60 points. Frankly speaking, under your current college entrance examination system, with this score, you want to stay in China and study... study..."

The old professor got stuck and turned to look to the side for help.

Raymond stepped forward at the opportune moment and whispered a reminder of "specialty".

“Oh right, a vocational college.” Guderian suddenly realized and added insult to injury.

"With your current grades, it's probably a bit risky for you to even get into a vocational college."

Lin Yuan: ( ̄□ ̄;)

Damn, this is such a terrible student! Even a random guess would get more than this score.

Guderian pressed his advantage: "Now, a prestigious private university located in a historically rich American setting is opening its doors to you. What are you waiting for?"

After being momentarily speechless, Lin Yuan stopped talking about his hometown sentiments and confidently asked the next question: "I don't speak English."

“What kind of obstacle is this!” Guderian waved his hand dismissively.

"Didn't you notice that we communicated entirely in Chinese? Although our school is located in the United States, given our unique motto and cultural heritage, Chinese is widely spoken throughout the school! There's absolutely no need for English."

Okay, just like Miranda said, the people at this school really treat Chinese as their mother tongue.

"What about tuition?" Lin Yuan continued, "I've seen some news reports; tuition at American universities is astronomical. I can't afford that kind of money."

"Tuition fees?" Upon hearing that the other party was worried about tuition fees, Guderian immediately felt that the overall situation was settled.

"Based on your outstanding potential, the college has decided to award you a special scholarship of $20,000 per year as a living allowance!"

If we continue down this line, it will easily come across as unreasonable and pedantic.

"It certainly sounds like I can't refuse, but I have one last question."

Lin Yuan paused briefly and asked in a low voice.

"If I go there, can I participate in field internships as soon as possible, like Miranda?"

If he went all the way to America, it wasn't to sit in a classroom and be a model student.

What I need is a constant stream of real-world experience, a "test kit" that can quickly revive the Azure Dragon Fruit. If I have to study diligently for four years after enrolling, I might as well stay and work on my own.

Guderian slapped the armrest of his chair in excitement.

Good lad! Not only did he not suffer any psychological trauma from Deadpool, but he also actively sought out prey. He's practically a peerless killer born to slay dragons!

“Absolutely no problem! The school strongly encourages this behavior!” Guderian assured loudly.

"As long as you pass the basic security assessment, the door to field missions is always open for you!"

Miranda, standing to the side, stared wide-eyed at the bizarre turn of the conversation, her entire body frozen in place.

She had just noticed Lin Yuan lowering his voice and assumed he was feeling lingering fear and wanted the school to provide a guarantee of his absolute safety on campus.

So, after all this time, this guy's worried about not having any monsters to kill in America?!

Miranda glanced over Lin Yuan's shoulder, then at the pile of Deadpool's remains in the distance, before looking at the boy in front of her who seemed relieved after hearing that "the field operations doors are always open."
