I caught a Pokémon

Puff puff……

Perhaps due to the excessive water pressure or the large flow of water, Kingdra left a blue afterimage in the air, so fast that it was impossible for the human eye to catch it!

Finally, after flying around in the air for more than a dozen times and expelling the last mouthful of water from its body, it fell headfirst into the water!

Pfft!

The King Thorn Dragon splashed a huge spray of water, and after a few more seconds, its eyes rolled back and it floated to the surface unconscious!

He has clearly passed out completely!

The referee glanced at the result and announced it immediately.

To be honest, before the match started, Xia You had thought that Xiao Zhi would win, but she never imagined that he would win in this way.

Even though I know he's the kind of person who does things unexpectedly, I can always bring him something new!

This amusing aspect made the audience laugh out loud and refreshed their understanding of combat.

Of course, people's joys and sorrows are not shared. At least that little boy, seeing that he had lost like this, felt that his worldview had collapsed!

In the rest area, Xia You and Xiao Xia clapped along with them.

Watching this match, apart from the bite from the Totodile, it didn't actually cause any damage to Kingdra. In the end, Kingdra was defeated by its own Hydro Pump!

Chapter 434 Overwhelming Power

After Xiao Zhi's match ended, it was Xia You's turn to take the stage.

His expression remained unchanged. Having experienced two major competitions, he was completely unfazed by the scene. He walked calmly out of the players' tunnel. On the other side of the arena, his opponent was clearly participating in such an event for the first time. He was noticeably more reserved, staring at the path in front of him and not daring to look up at his surroundings.

As is customary, the host will give a brief introduction to the two contestants when they appear on stage, so that the audience can get a general idea of the contestants.

The introduction of Xia You's opponent went smoothly until the host began to introduce Xia You, at which point there was a noticeable pause.

Two seconds later, the host continued in a slightly surprised voice, "Oh? I just received news that Xia You, the contestant, is no ordinary player. He is the champion of this year's Indigo League and an honorary trainer of the Orange Islands! I never expected that our Whirlpool Islands Cup would attract such a contestant!"

Quartz Conference Champion?

Honorary Trainer of the Orange Islands?

The audience immediately became restless.

The Orange Islands Honorary Trainer is alright. Although the number of islands, economy, and population are much larger than those of the Whirlpool Islands, it is still just a small league event. Not only is it not prestigious enough, but its international status is only slightly better than that of local events like theirs.

But the Quartz Conference champion is a different story!

This is a real league tournament, almost on par with the Silver Tournament in terms of scale and strength, which makes it impossible for people to take it seriously!

The audience craned their necks to look at Xia You, and even the High Priestess Maya in the audience seats looked at him in surprise.

They never imagined that the champion of the league conference would come to such a local cup competition!

Xia You waved to the audience with a smile on his face and walked slowly to the trainer command area. His opponent, who was already a little timid when he heard that he was going to fight a champion, had his eyelids twitching involuntarily!

He swallowed hard and looked up at Xia You with difficulty. Seeing that the other person was not only handsome and dashing, but also calm and generous in every move, he immediately lost a lot of confidence.

Ugh, how am I supposed to fight like this...?

At the same time, Xia You was also sizing up her opponent.

This was a chubby boy around fifteen or sixteen years old, with visible restraint and tension on his face. Judging from his demeanor, he was not as composed as the six or seven-year-old boy who was battling Ash!

However, Xia You would not underestimate her opponents because of this. After all, apart from a few lucky ones, everyone who could stand out from the preliminaries had some skills.

Seeing that both were ready, at the referee's signal, they simultaneously sent out their Pokémon.

Xia You had no choice but to send out her Blastoise, while the big boy sent out a Corsola.

Corsola is primarily pink and has four horns on its back; it is a Pokémon commonly found on beaches.

The two Pokémon stood on their respective stone pillars, gazing at each other.

The host clearly paid close attention to Xia You; upon seeing his Blastoise, the sound of rapidly turning pages could even be heard through the loudspeaker.

After a few seconds, the host introduced, "According to the information, Xia You's Blastoise is one of the Pokémon he caught early in his career. It accompanied him all the way to the Indigo League finals and is one of his ace Pokémon! I didn't expect him to send it out now. Is his purpose to ensure his success in advancing without any chance of failure?"

Although there is information available, it is clear that the host does not know enough about Xia You and has no idea that Blastoise is only a second-tier player in Xia You's lineup. Yet, the host still considers it Xia You's trump card.

However, this reasoning makes sense. After all, the earlier a Pokémon is captured, the longer it accompanies its trainer, the more battles it has experienced, and the faster it grows. Therefore, it is more likely to be trusted by trainers and is often directly trained into an ace.

The arena used in this competition is very large, a perfectly circular pool, as big as four regular arenas, and surrounded by high walls, so there is no need to worry about going out of bounds, thus giving Water-type Pokémon a lot of room to perform.

At this moment, with the referee's whistle, the match officially began.

The audience focused all their attention on the competition, eager to see just how strong the champion was.

Unfortunately, despite being much stronger and seemingly more reliable than its trainer, Corsola was clearly no match for Blastoise and couldn't get Blastoise to use its full strength.

This was a one-sided battle, posing no challenge for Xia You.

Corsola managed to hold out against Blastoise for a few rounds before Blastoise lifted it high and slammed it heavily against a stone pillar, rendering it completely unconscious.

Although the audience was somewhat disappointed by the result, they were even more excited for Xia You's next match.

Amid cheers from the audience, Xia You calmly left the arena and headed towards the players' tunnel. His expression remained as relaxed as when he entered the arena.

After successfully advancing to the round of 32, he will play one more match at 3 pm. If he wins, he will advance to the round of 16 and continue fighting tomorrow to challenge for the championship. But before that, he can rest in the lounge for a while and wait for Xiaoxia's match result.

Xiaoxia's match was right after his, the ninth match of the morning. Because the match time was very tight, he didn't even have time to walk to the rest room to say "good luck" to Xiaoxia before she entered the arena.

In the lounge, Xia You walked over to Xiao Zhi and watched Xiao Xia's match together.

At this point, Xiaoxia's competition had officially begun.

Her opponent was a middle-aged man named Hyde, who wore a straw hat.

Hyde's outfit is somewhat reminiscent of One Piece. Looking at their Pokémon, Hyde sent out a Needlefish, while Misty, for reasons unknown, also sent out a Corsola!

only……

Viewers, however, were not very optimistic about the sun coral.

After all, this Pokémon was just easily defeated by Xia You. Although it wasn't the same one, the audience's impression of it was still not good.

Fortunately, compared to Hyde, the somewhat unkempt middle-aged man, Xiaoxia's beautiful young girl image still garnered support from many viewers.

Having already watched Ash and Misty's match, Misty was now in high spirits and launched an attack.

Hyde, perhaps seeing that his opponent was a cute little girl, had a look of disdain on his face, clearly not taking Xiaoxia seriously and thinking that he could easily advance!

Chapter 435: A Battle Full of Unexpected Events

Underestimating Xiaoxia will inevitably come at a heavy price.

Under Hyde's command, the Needlefish first dodged the Sun Coral's attack, then launched a counterattack with its water gun. However, Misty used a mirror reflection move to instantly deflect the water gun back!

The water jet returned the way it came and hit the needlefish instead, causing harm to the fish itself.

It can only be said that the timing of the use of the mirror reflection was just right, exactly at the moment of impact, so that Hyde had no time to react at all.

This was quite unexpected for Hyde. He hurriedly checked the condition of his Pokémon, and fortunately, because of the same-type attack, the Needlefish was not seriously injured.

Although slightly surprised, Hyde still didn't take Xiaoxia seriously, assuming she had only succeeded by chance, and launched his second attack.

The needlefish opened its mouth and began to frantically inhale seawater, its body expanding and growing larger until it became a spiky ball.

Xia You immediately recognized that this was a method to enhance the missile needles, a type of charged attack.

By increasing pressure through the flow of water within the body, the missile needles can be launched at a faster speed and with greater power, making them impossible for the opponent to defend against effectively.

This was the first time Xia You had encountered such a skill. It broadened her horizons and she also learned something from this person.

It has to be admitted that he is middle-aged after all. People like Hyde may not be strong, but they are definitely experienced. He has been a trainer for so many years and it's not for nothing. He usually has one or two special moves.

Faced with such an attack, Xiaoxia was also quickly thinking of a countermeasure.

Mirror reflections cannot deflect missiles, so she did not repeat the same trick, nor did she send the sun coral into the water to avoid it. Instead, she chose to use the spiked cannon to fight back.

This choice is undoubtedly quite appropriate. The spiked cannon's attack method is very similar to that of the needle missile, which can be used to offset the speed advantage of the needle missile with continuous attacks.

Both Pokémon emitted white light simultaneously, and the next second, two similar moves were launched almost at the same time.

Whoosh whoosh!

Countless sharp needles and spiked energy shot towards each other, but the enhanced missile needles were obviously faster, passing through the air in an instant. Finally, they collided with the spiked cannon in the air closer to Xiaoxia, producing a series of explosions!

The shockwave from the explosion knocked the sun coral to the ground, but Hyde, who had foreseen this, ordered the needlefish to dive to the surface in advance to avoid the shockwave.

The aftershocks and smoke of battle slowly faded away.

Before the sun coral could get up, Hyde decisively had the needlefish use its ramming attack, intending to finish off the sun coral in one fell swoop.

From the screen, Xia You could even see Hyde's triumphant smile!

However, to everyone's surprise, just as the needlefish leaped close to the sun coral, the sun coral also stood up and faced it. The next second, the needlefish was stuck in the four corners of the sun coral!

Under the force, the Thousand Needle Fish was stuck tightly and couldn't move at all!

This unexpected turn of events not only left every audience member stunned, but also froze the smile on Hyde's face!

In the arena, Corsola, with a Pokémon embedded in its body, naturally felt very uncomfortable. It paced around in place, feeling dizzy and unsteady. It tried to shake off the Needlefish, but the Needlefish's spikes got stuck with its own horns, and it couldn't break free at all.

The thousand-needle fish on its body struggled desperately, but it was powerless to do anything!

The two Pokémon were locked in a stalemate!

Everyone was stunned by this scene!

After the little tortoise bit the mouth of the King Spikeridged Dragon, they never expected to witness such a dramatic scene again!

After a moment of stunned silence, Xiaoxia immediately realized that this was a golden opportunity and had the Sun Coral use the Spiked Cannon once again.

As the sun coral emitted a white light, the needlefish had no way to fight back or dodge, and took the full damage!

Under the impact of the spiked cannon, the needlefish finally left the sun coral's body and was shot into the sky. However, after enduring the attack, it flew in the air for a few seconds before crashing heavily onto the stone pillar and falling into a coma!

Upon seeing that the Thousand Needlefish had lost its ability to fight, the referee immediately announced the result.

Upon seeing this outcome, Xiaoxia naturally jumped up with joy, while Hyde's face fell. He never expected to lose the game in such a way!

The audience applauded, and Xiaoxia waved to them with a big smile.

In the lounge, seeing Xiaoxia win in such a way, Xia You couldn't help but fall into deep thought.

Just like with Ash just now, Xia You really didn't expect that both of Ash's and Misty's battles would end in such a dramatic way!

It felt like neither of them had played to their full potential; their victories were all won by chance.

As the trainer known for his unpredictability, it's not surprising that Ash maintains this style, but the fact that even Misty has become like this suggests that she seems to be increasingly adopting Ash's style.

Regardless, it's certainly commendable that all three of them managed to advance to the top 32. As for the process... well... it's not really that important.

After each of them had played one match, they had no more matches in the morning. After Xiaoxia returned, the three of them left the lounge and went to the lobby to meet up with Lijia and Xiaogang.

Lijia and Xiaogang naturally showered the group with praise, especially the match between Xiaozhi and Xiaoxia, which they described as extremely entertaining. They talked about it with great enthusiasm, vividly recounting the enthusiastic reaction from the audience, which made the two involved parties quite embarrassed.

The group had lunch at the stadium restaurant and rested for a while. After all the matches in the morning were over, the top 32 contestants were determined. Following the announcement, Xia You and the other two rushed to the stadium again to participate in the competition to narrow down the competition to 16.

The three were lucky once again not to be grouped together, and this time, Ash and Misty also performed to their full potential, eliminating their opponents through sheer skill and successfully advancing to the next round.

The two were pleased with this, but the audience was slightly disappointed.

After all, they actually prefer to see something more 'exciting' than ordinary battles!

For Xia You, there were no surprises.

He continued to use Blastoise, maintaining his consistent performance, and defeated a female trainer with a significant advantage, successfully advancing to the top 16.

At this point, Xia You, Xiao Zhi, and Xiao Xia have successfully reunited. In the upcoming battle, after eliminating the weaker opponents, no one will be a weakling, and the difficulty will undoubtedly increase significantly!

Chapter 436 Psyduck: I'll show you all my special skills!

After a night's rest, the competition was already on the morning of the third day.

The lounge was no longer as crowded as it had been the previous two days. After most of the people were eliminated, the room was empty. Apart from Xia You and the others, the remaining contestants all seemed to be preoccupied, and even their voices were unconsciously much softer.

Successfully advancing to the next round brings both pressure and anticipation for the future.

They've already made it to the top 16. With a little more effort, they could very well become the Warrior of the Sea and gain both fame and fortune. How could they not be excited and nervous?

However, one thing was consistent: ever since these people learned that Xia You was the champion of the Quartz Tournament, they had kept their distance from him and no one wanted to come up and talk to him. They just glanced at him with indifferent eyes from time to time!
