I caught a Pokémon

Although it was a blind selection battle, Xiaochun was, after all, a Dragon Trainer and a Dragon-type Pokémon expert. And since this was the Blacksmith Gym, she couldn't possibly use Pokémon of other types besides Dragon-type Pokémon to battle.

Furthermore, since many Dragon-type Pokémon also have the Flying type, and there is a pool of water in the center of the field, her team will definitely include Pokémon with a Water/Dragon type combination.

This also allowed Xia You to continuously narrow down the range of guesses and eliminate Pokémon with unfavorable attributes in advance!

So... who should I use to fight in the first match?

Xia You pondered for a moment, and finally took out the Poké Ball that was placed in the first position from his right waist pouch.

"It's up to you!"

Seeing that Xia You had already decided on the choice, the two threw out Poké Balls at the same time, and when the blue light flashed, two Pokémon appeared on the field at the same time.

The first Pokémon that Xiaochun sent out was Charizard, which had performed exceptionally well in the battle against Bishas in the Dragon Sanctuary, while Xiayou sent out his starter Pokémon—Gardedoll!

Gardevoir and Charizard stood on opposite sides of the pool, gazing at each other, just like their trainers, their eyes burning with fighting spirit!

In terms of attributes, Gardevoir's Fairy moves will only deal half damage to a Fire-type Charizard, but apart from that, the two Pokémon do not have any other type matchups.

Fortunately, Xia You rarely uses her fairy attribute, so overall the impact isn't too significant. However, under these circumstances, raw strength becomes especially important.

Kabu looked around and, seeing that both sides were ready, waved his flag.

"The competition has officially begun!"

The two trainers gave their commands almost simultaneously the instant the flag was lowered.

"Gardevoir, use Psychic!"

"Charizard, fly into the air!"

Gardevoir activated its psychic powers to launch an attack from a distance, but Charizard, which had just flown into the sky, nimbly dodged it with a sidestep!

Meanwhile, Charizard, which was hovering high in the sky, seized the opportunity, opened its mouth, and used Flamethrower on Gardevoir!

A large burst of flames surged toward Gardevoir. Faced with the oncoming heatwave, Gardevoir used Teleport to teleport to a safe place.

This encounter can be seen as an initial test between the two Pokémon, but unfortunately, neither of them managed to hit the other.

On the other side, when Xiaochun saw that her first attack had missed, she frowned slightly and began to command Charizard to launch continuous attacks, trying to keep Gardevoir busy and put it into her own rhythm.

However, Gardevoir was always able to dodge Charizard's attacks safely using Teleport.

"Tch, Psychic-type Pokémon are such a hassle!"

Xiaochun muttered a complaint under her breath. In fact, she wasn't the only one; many people had expressed similar sentiments when faced with Psychic-type Pokémon.

Unlike in games, superpowers in reality are incredibly powerful. Whether it's telekinesis or teleportation, they can always cause a lot of trouble for opponents!

Most importantly, because it's impossible to predict where Gardevoir will teleport to, she can't issue commands in advance!

It's so annoying that I can't hit it or touch it!

She gritted her teeth and commanded again, "Charizard, use a wide-area attack! Don't give it any room to escape!"

The battle continues.

In contrast to her, Xia You's expression remained normal, appearing calm and composed, showing no sign of panic.

In fact, Xia You was extremely familiar with Charizard!

After all, he himself has a Charizard, and they spend every day and night together, so he already knows all its moves by heart!

Although Xiaochun's Charizard differs from her own Charizard in temperament and physique, they are both Charizards after all, and their moves and patterns are basically the same.

All he needs to do is put himself in Xiaochun's shoes, put himself in her shoes, and think about how to use Charizard to attack Gardevoir. Gardevoir can then read the information in Xia You's mind through telepathy and be prepared for Charizard's next attack!

Gardevoir then launched a defensive counterattack, which actually caused Charizard to take a lot of damage!

This is why Xiaochun is having a harder time fighting, as Gardevoir seems to be able to predict the future and always anticipate Charizard's next move!

This is troublesome...

All she could say was that only after personally experiencing the battle with Xia You could she truly appreciate how powerful Xia You's Pokémon abilities were!

As expected of the undefeated Quartz Conference champion, he's really tough to beat!

What's even more terrifying is that she never experienced this sense of powerlessness, not even when she was fighting against A-du!

Could this person be even stronger than A-Du?!

Finally, when Charizard, exhausted and its aura chaotic, once again revealed an opening, Gardevoir used Psychic Beam to cause Charizard to become briefly mentally confused. Then, Gardevoir used Psychic to stiffen its body and finally finished it off with Hypnosis, knocking it down from the sky!

Struck by the hypnosis, Charizard's eyes became extremely heavy, and its consciousness became increasingly blurred. In an instant, it seemed to have lost all its strength, and it fell headfirst into the pool in the center of the arena!

call!

tens of meters...

More than ten meters...

Jimmy Liao...

"Charizard!!"

As they got lower and lower, and Charizard showed no signs of waking up, Xiaochun's expression changed!

Other Pokémon might be able to break free from hypnosis after falling into the water and being stimulated, but Charizard is extremely afraid of water, especially its tail, which cannot be extinguished under any circumstances!

With quick reflexes, she managed to retrieve the Poké Ball just in time, managing to capture Charizard before it was about to fall into the pool!

This meant that she had voluntarily admitted defeat...

Kabu raised the green flag with a complicated expression.

"Charizard is unable to battle. Gardevoir wins the first match!"

Looking at the Poké Ball in her hand, Tsubaki sighed, a hint of resentment on her face: "I lost."

Xia You smiled and shook her head, saying nothing.

In fact, after using hypnosis, he still needs to use Dream Eater to completely defeat Charizard.

But clearly, he had already won before he even had a chance to use that tactic.

Chapter 316 Dragon Traitor

Seeing that the first battle had been decided, A-Du gently clapped his hands in the audience.

He turned to his uncle and said, "See? I told you he was strong. Little Chun is no match for him!"

"He's definitely got some skills."

The middle-aged man glanced at Xia You, said nothing more than a casual compliment, and then turned and left.

As the patriarch of a dragon trainer family, he had no desire to watch his trusted family members fight a battle they were destined to lose, nor did he want to add to his own frustration!

Out of sight, out of mind – that was his best choice!

In the arena, seeing that Xiaochun had taken out a second Poké Ball, Xia You called Gardevoir back, but instead of putting it back into the Poké Ball, she let it watch the battle from the sidelines.

The two released their Pokémon at the same time again. This time, Xiaochun sent out Altaria, while Xiayou sent out Steelix!

As the blue light flashed, Xia You and Xiao Chun both looked at each other's Pokémon with curious eyes.

Xiaochun was naturally admiring the Crystal Steelix. Its crystal-clear body was so pleasing to the eye that no matter how many times she looked at it, she still found it very attractive!

Ah, how beautiful!

I wish there was a Dragon-type Pokémon like that...

Xia You, on the other hand, couldn't help but take a few more glances at the Qixi Bluebird because it was the first time she had seen it in real life.

The Tanabata has a sky-blue body that resembles a bird, with fluffy wings that seem to wrap around most of its body like cotton, making it look cute and light.

However, rather than calling it a dragon-type Pokémon, its appearance makes it look more like a bird-type Pokémon!

Almost instinctively, Xia You took out her Pokédex and pointed it at Altaria.

Pokémon Pokédex entry: "Ding, Altaria, the singing Pokémon, Dragon and Flying type. On clear days, Altaria flies freely among the clouds. It can use its cotton-cloud-like wings to fly high into the sky with the help of updrafts, and it can also sing with beautiful high notes. The beautiful melody will make the listener feel intoxicated, as if they are in a dream."

Interestingly, although Altaria has the dragon attribute, it was once jokingly called the shame of the dragon type, along with Red-faced Dragon and Desert Dragonfly, because of its bird-like appearance!

When it super-evolved into Super Altaria, its attributes became Dragon and Fairy, which opened up a path of double advantage against Dragon-types, instantly surpassing the other two contestants on the list and becoming a Dragon-type traitor!

It's truly unexpected that Xiaochun, a dragon trainer, would make such a 'renowned' Pokémon one of her trump cards!

However, this battle was actually a little difficult for Xia You.

After all, Steelix's Ground-type moves cannot damage Flying-type Pokémon, while Flying-type moves can deal normal damage to Ground-type Pokémon.

In effect, it's like losing one of Steelix's arms. Fortunately, even after evolving, it can still use some Rock-type moves, and it also has another Steel-type move that can help it fight against Altaria.

Having also realized the attribute issue, Xiaochun couldn't help but laugh and say, "In terms of attributes, it seems I have the advantage!"

Xia You nodded without refuting.

If he wanted to win more easily from the beginning, he could have simply released his Charizard or Gyarados and crushed them with sheer strength!

However, Xia You did not choose to do that. Instead, he used this battle to train his other Pokémon and improve their combat abilities when the situation was even or unfavorable.

When the match began, just like Tsubaki's resolute and courageous character, she maintained a high level of aggression, sending Altaria to attack continuously, causing great trouble for Steelix.

In this battle, Xia You did not choose to use the same method as when he faced Alfredo, the Gym Leader of Kikyo City, to quickly burrow underground and maneuver around Altaria. Instead, he had Steelix stay on the ground to keep counterattacking and looking for any openings Altaria might make!

only…

The rocky blockade had no effect on the Altaria.

The sharp stone attack was easily dodged by the Altaria.

All Rock-type moves missed!

Under Altaria's attack, the massive Steelix appeared quite clumsy and could only passively defend itself.

Bang bang bang!

Attacks kept hitting the Crystal Steelix, but fortunately its body surface was extremely hard, and Altaria didn't have any way to counter it. Even if several attacks were successful, Altaria still couldn't cause it much damage.

The stalemate continued for a long time, and when Altaria attacked with its wings again and charged towards the Crystal Steel Serpent, Xia You's eyes suddenly narrowed.

"A perfect opportunity! Now's the time! Use Dragon's Breath!"

The Crystal Steel Serpent raised its head and spat out a blue-green flame that instantly enveloped the Altaria!

"What!?"

Upon seeing this dragon breath attack, Xiaochun was initially astonished, but then belatedly shook her head.

"Sigh, it was my oversight. After all, I rarely battle Steelix, and I had forgotten that it also has Dragon Breath!"

“It’s not your fault,” Xia You said. “After all, there are too many kinds of Pokémon. Apart from the common ones, who can remember all of their moves? Even a Pokémon professor might forget them sometimes.”

Actually, Xia You didn't know why Onix would have the Dragon Breath move after evolving into Steelix.

Perhaps the story of a snake transforming into a dragon is not just a legend.

These Pokémon, which live deep underground year-round, may have absorbed some dragon energy!

Coming to her senses, Xia You refocused her attention on the arena.

The unexpected dragon breath attack caught the Albirex off guard and dealt double damage, which managed to salvage the situation somewhat.

When the Altaria burst out of the dragon's breath, most of its body was burned, and it could only return to the sky, looking at the Crystal Onix with lingering fear.

"Don't be afraid!" Xiaochun shouted. "Just be careful. Let's try again, use the wings attack!"

Upon hearing Xiaochun's command, the Albirex swooped down again, but with a hint of apprehension, its momentum was no longer as unstoppable as before!

"Steel Cobra, use a spinning top!"

The Crystal Steelix's enormous body began to spin continuously, faster and faster, with such force that the entire gym began to shake.

The Azure Bird couldn't stop its momentum in time and crashed directly into the spinning top, being thrown to the ground by the immense force!

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Xia You once again seized the chance and had the Crystal Steelix continue to use Iron Tail to slap the Altaria, which had not yet gotten up!

boom!

Struck by the enormous tail, the beautiful voice that the Altaria used to sing instantly turned into a pitiful cry!

Chapter 317 Why isn't it afraid of water?

"Tanabata Bluebird!!"
