Vera calmly pushed her wheelchair to the Gryffindor table and poured herself a glass of pumpkin juice.

Today's breakfast was more lavish than usual, with all sorts of oddly shaped pastries and snacks filling the long table.

Harley piled the food onto the plate, making sure to give one to Vera and Hermione as well: "Try this, it's shaped like a spider, but it's actually made of chocolate!"

Hermione took a small bite cautiously: "It tastes pretty good... but the presentation is a bit scary."

Ron, who was terrified of spiders, threw his chocolate spider in front of him far away in a panic.

Vera also took a bite of chocolate. As the sweet taste melted on her tongue, she casually glanced at the teachers' table and noticed that Quirrell's seat was empty today.

"Professor Quirrell didn't come for breakfast?" Hermione noticed the empty seat as well.

With his mouth full of sausage, Ron mumbled, "He's probably just overwhelmed by the garlic."

Harley giggled and took a bite of the fried egg in front of her.

After breakfast, the students left the auditorium in twos and threes to prepare for today's lessons.

The morning classes were normal, but in the afternoon, it was potions class.

Snape's face remained grim as always, his black robes billowing behind him like bat wings.

“Today,” he said coldly, “you will learn how to make potions of forgetfulness.”

His gaze swept across the class, finally settling on Harley: "I hope some of you can focus instead of thinking about those irrelevant...activities all day."

Harley leaned back and muttered, "I wasn't daydreaming..."

Vera gently nudged her elbow, signaling her to pay attention.

After Snape briefly explained the steps, he let them do it on their own.

In an instant, all sorts of strange smells filled the underground classroom.

Chapter Sixty-Four: The Attack on Snape Appears (Fifth Update)

Vera skillfully weighed the materials, her magical circuits allowing her to clearly perceive the flow of magic energy within the potion's components in the crucible.

Those subtle color changes and energy transformations were all clearly visible to her.

Of course, these aids were nothing new to her; what satisfied her even more was the boost from Source Reshaping in this regard.

"Source Reshaping," she murmured, the crimson lines on her skin glowing faintly, yet perfectly concealed by her wizard robes.

Most of the magic was concentrated in his hands. His fingers, which had always trembled slightly before, were now unusually steady. He precisely chopped and ground the valerian and mistletoe berries in the ingredients, and added them to the crucible at just the right moment to stir.

The liquid immediately changed from pale blue to milky white. Vera patiently added the remaining moonstone powder, waiting for the potion to turn into a textbook-perfect silver mist.

Harley was a bit flustered; her potion had turned a strange purple color.

"Vera," she whispered for help, "something seems wrong with my potion..."

Vera glanced at it and whispered, "You added the moonstone powder in the wrong order... Now add two drops of unicorn hair solution, and it can be salvaged."

Harley quickly did as instructed, and the color of the potion slowly returned to its proper color.

"Thank you!" she whispered gratefully, and when she looked up and met Snape's unfathomable eyes, her body instinctively stiffened.

Swallowing nervously and awkwardly, Harry blinked and subconsciously moved closer to Vera, who was still oblivious to Snape's approach, trying to remind her.

But Vera remained focused, head down, intently stirring the potion she was about to finish at her own small table, which was designed to fit her height and posture.

Snape's gaze shifted between the two men for a moment, especially lingering on the two potions in front of them, which were progressing at vastly different rates.

Finally, he silently walked over to Harley and looked down at her cauldron.

“Miss Potter,” he drawled, “your potion looks like a troll’s bathwater.”

Harley's face flushed red: "Professor, I've tried my best..."

“Clearly, your ‘effort’ is far from enough,” Snape said coldly. “Do it again.”

Just as he was about to swing his wand to empty the potion from Harley's cauldron, Vera looked up at him in time:

"Professor, Harley's potion is almost finished, but it still needs a little more time."

Snape turned his gaze to Vera, his eyes narrowing slightly: "Miss Black, I'm curious, when did you become Miss Potter's spokesperson?"

Vera calmly returned her gaze: "I'm just stating the facts, Professor. Although Harley's potion isn't the perfect color, its effects should be fine."

Snape's lips twisted into a near-sneer: "Because of your meddling, Gryffindor is deprived—"

“Professor!” Harley interrupted him abruptly, quickly removing her glasses and staring directly into Snape's clear green eyes. “Vera was just helping her classmate; she didn't do anything wrong. If you have to deduct points, then deduct mine!”

Snape's expression froze for a moment, his dark eyes fixed on Harley, his lips trembling slightly.

The classroom fell into a deathly silence; almost everyone held their breath, not daring to utter a sound.

However, Vera still caught a glimpse of the Malfoy trio laughing gleefully out of the corner of her eye.

Snape's gaze lingered on Harley's eyes for too long, causing the students around him, who were barely daring to breathe, to look over with some confusion.

Finally, Snape slowly looked away, his tone seemingly more mellow than before: "Since you're so willing to recklessly stand up for your classmates, then... Miss Potter, stay after class to clean the cauldron."

Harley's shoulders slumped, but she visibly relaxed.

“Now,” Snape turned and walked toward the podium, “continue your potion-making.”

After saying that, he turned and strode toward the podium, his black robe billowing behind him.

While he turned away, Harley winked at Vera and whispered, "At least we didn't lose points..."

Vera frowned and gently shook her head at her: "You don't need to do this."

"Of course it's necessary, and this is the method you taught me before; it's very effective, isn't it?"

Harley smiled slyly, her green eyes gleaming with victory. "But now I'll have to go to the Great Hall a little later."

Vera sighed helplessly and said softly, "Then I'll wait for you."

“No need,” Harley smiled at her and lowered her voice, “If you miss dinner, just get me an extra sandwich. Washing the crucible is hard work.”

“But…” Vera was about to speak when Hermione gently tugged at her sleeve.

When she came to her senses, she realized that Snape was staring at them with a hostile expression once again.

Vera pursed her lips and could only remain silent.

They endured this until the end of get out of class, when Snape asked each of them to fill a bottle with a potion and hand it in.

Vera and Hermione's potions, needless to say, were textbook silver with a pearly sheen.

Harley's potion was a slightly darker color, but Snape just frowned and didn't say anything.

"Submit a paper on the formulation of the potion of forgetfulness by the weekend, no less than twelve inches long," Snape announced as the bell rang. "get out of class dismissed."

The students, feeling as if they had been granted a pardon, quickly packed their things and left the cold, dark underground classroom, running joyfully towards the auditorium.

Vera and Hermione pushed the wheelchair out of the classroom, and Snape's cold voice came from behind: "Miss Potter, you can start washing the cauldrons now."

Harley shrugged, resigned herself to staying behind, and prepared to clean the crucible.

"Are we really not going to wait for her?" Hermione looked back worriedly.

“She said she wanted a sandwich.” Vera glanced back at the gaunt figure facing Snape alone in the classroom behind her and let out a silent sigh.

Hermione nodded, and the two walked together toward the Great Hall.

Along the way, they could see many students celebrating Halloween laughing and playing in the corridors.

For some reason, Hermione suddenly lowered her voice and asked, "Vera, that premonition you mentioned last night... will it happen again today?"

Vera paused slightly as she pushed the wheelchair: "I'm not sure, but it's always better to be safe than sorry."

Hermione nodded thoughtfully and didn't ask any more questions.

The two arrived at the Great Hall and sat down together at the Gryffindor table. Hermione picked up a sandwich and placed it beside her, intending to take it with her later.

"How long do you think Snape will keep Harley here?" Ron asked, his mouth full of pumpkin pie. "The sun's almost setting."

Hermione shook her head: "Hopefully it won't be too long..."

Only Vera listened to their conversation, silently gripping the armrests of her wheelchair, her expression somber.

If the plot really does have momentum, could it be that... the person who unexpectedly encounters the troll will turn into Harley Quinn?

Chapter Sixty-Five: Snape's Deep Regret (Not (Chapter Six))

After reaching this conclusion, Vera was startled. Looking at the dazzling array of food in front of her, she suddenly lost her appetite. Almost instinctively, she wanted to turn her wheelchair and go to the Potions classroom to find Harley.

"Vera, what's wrong? You look terrible."

Even as she was enjoying her meal in a cheerful atmosphere, Hermione, as usual, keenly noticed the strange look on her face, quickly stopped the wheelchair that was about to leave, and asked in confusion.

Vera pursed her lips and unconsciously gripped the handrail tighter.

Quirrell's release of the information about the trolls is essentially a result of his own God-like perspective.

Although Quirrell is still not on the teachers' bench, she still has no evidence to prove what he will do next.

Not to mention, the idea that Harley might be in danger was just her own speculation, and even she couldn't guarantee how the plot would unfold.

But she knew that if she just sat there and waited to die, and Harley was really kept in jail by Snape until late, and happened to run into the released trolls, something unexpected might happen.

After all, in the original story, luck played a large part in the trio's success in knocking out the giant.

Unable to tell Hermione the truth, she glanced around the noisy Great Hall, bit her lip, and then leaned down, placing her hands on Hermione's back in an extremely intimate manner.

To an unsuspecting outsider, it looked as if they were embracing.

But only Hermione knew that Vera's hands on her shoulders were trembling slightly, and she whispered in her ear, her breath unsteady, "Hermione, I have a feeling of unease."

Vera lowered her voice, her warm breath brushing against Hermione's ear, "Harley has been alone in the Potions classroom for too long, I want to go see her."

Hermione frowned immediately upon hearing this: "But Professor Snape said—"

“I know.” Vera gently took her hand. “Remember that special sense I mentioned last night? It’s back again.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Hermione's brows furrowed, and her expression turned serious.

“Vera, look at me first.” Hermione pushed her away slightly, staring at her solemnly. “Do you know that in Muggle terms, there’s a mental illness called PTSD?”

PTSD is a severe stress disorder caused by intense psychological stress, such as sudden catastrophic events or natural disasters. It can trigger symptoms such as trauma re-experiencing, increased vigilance, avoidance, or numbness in patients.

Actually, Hermione had been thinking of saying this since last night, after Vera suddenly suggested buying the twins those prank gadgets for self-defense.

However, considering Vera's mental state and the fact that Harley was always by their side, she couldn't find an opportunity or the means to directly point out her friend's potential psychological trauma.

But now, even though it's only been a short time since Harley was around, Vera is already so anxious and even in a hurry to go find Harley.

It's hard not to think of these psychological symptoms in Hermione.

Her friend had survived a devastating car accident and was still suffering from its aftereffects.

Vera paused for a moment, then realized what Hermione was worried about.

She gently shook her head: "No, Hermione, this is not PTSD. My premonition... is very special. You can think of it as... a kind of prophecy."

She hesitated for a moment, then lowered her voice: "Ever since the car accident, I sometimes sense danger approaching."

And now, that feeling is back, even stronger than last night.

Hermione's brow furrowed even more: "That's what you said yesterday, but nothing happened... Are you sure this isn't just psychological?"

“I’m absolutely certain.” Vera looked directly into her eyes and said, word by word, “Can you trust me one more time?”

Hermione's expression softened slightly: "But..."

"Please, let me go check," Vera whispered. "If everything is alright, I'll come right back, okay?"

Hermione bit her lip. Looking at Vera's pitiful appearance, even the hardest heart would have softened by now.

Not to mention that she only wanted to show concern for Vera.

“How about this,” Vera said softly, “if you’re worried, you can come with me, okay?”

Ron, listening from the side, was completely confused: "What are you talking about? What danger could Harley possibly be in?"

Snape may be terrifying, but he wouldn't lay a hand on a student, would he? At most, he'd just punish her with hard labor.

Although Ron clearly hadn't heard the whole conversation because he was eating, it gave Vera a more convenient excuse.

“Ron is right, maybe I’m overthinking it. But… I still want to check on Harley’s condition.” Vera softened her expression and gently tugged at Hermione’s wizard robes.

She was already beautiful, and the contrasting expression she displayed at this moment, so different from her usual demeanor, made her even more irresistible.

So Hermione took a deep breath and finally made up her mind: "Okay, I'll go with you."
