Let go of that monster girl!

"Give me a reason to let you go."
Chapter 61 Disaster Moon
All the fluorite lanterns on the hill were put away.
The entire mountain was plunged into complete darkness, blending seamlessly with the surrounding dark areas, utterly submerged in darkness.
Moren stood behind the battlements, clutching a silver pocket watch he had borrowed from the nuns of the Order.
A tiny fluorite is set in the center of the dial, and the three hands tick away in the dim light.
The minute and hour hands are almost touching, while the second hand is only on its last rotation.
One minute until the month of disaster.
Ever since civilization expanded southward and collided head-on with the slowly expanding, dark zone to the north, this land has been shrouded in mystery.
And the calamity moon is at the center of almost every mystery.
Regardless of anything else, the fact that it always happens precisely at the first second of December is enough to keep all researchers racking their brains.
For hundreds of years since the discovery of the Calamity Moon, it has remained unchanged.
This single characteristic alone is enough to disprove any speculation about the causes of phenomena like magical tides and monster migrations.
This led to the widespread belief in divine punishment and trials by the goddess of creation, which was a major reason for the rise of the state religion.
Forty seconds remain until the calamity moon.
The militia rats stood beside the cannon, nervously staring into the darkness where nothing could be seen in the distance.
Their ears stood up high, and even the slightest breeze made their round ears twitch.
All the militia rats were wearing full-body leather armor, from neck to toe, with their hoods not yet on, only their heads and two round ears showing.
The scout mouse lay behind the battlements next to Morren, with a small wooden box on its head, looking out from the side through a square hole that was originally meant to be a handle.
She held up the binoculars, her small hands trembling with nervousness, making the binoculars rattle against the opening of the wooden box.
Moren straightened up and addressed the rat girls around him.
"Listen up, everyone."
"Safety is the most important thing. If the disaster situation becomes too serious, everyone should just abandon their posts and hide underground."
"The underground is safe. We are only protecting the buildings above ground right now, so there's no need to be too nervous."
The tense little shoulders of the surrounding mouse girls relaxed slightly.
"really?"
"That's definitely true."
That's obviously fake.
Molen maintained his confident smile, his palms covered in sticky sweat.
There are 20 seconds left until the calamity moon.
In terms of destructive power alone, a disaster month may not be comparable to a strong typhoon or tsunami.
Otherwise, the lightless areas would have been wiped out in a single disaster, and so many settlements would not have been left.
But its most dangerous aspect is that the situation is completely unpredictable and extremely difficult to prepare for.
The year before last, the air was filled with bacteria and dust that seemed to awaken the corpses.
Last year was a bloodbath that could drive anyone mad.
There are over two hundred recorded types of lunar disasters, more than ten of which can easily breach building defenses.
Among these ten or so, there is a humorous curse that says eating incorrectly will lead to sudden death.
There is also the metal vine plague that almost reshaped the entire landscape of the old dark zone more than a hundred years ago.
If we really encounter the latter.
Morren's gaze swept across the edge of the city wall and landed on the white tent hidden in the darkness below.
Then we can only pray that these charlatans actually have some skills.
The rat girls trembled with fear.
The second hand clicks.
Click.
Click.
The three pointers are stacked together.
Click.
First came a sudden, inexplicable panic.
Then, all the mouse girls heard the sound of heartbeats.
A million heartbeats that don't belong to me.
A month of disaster.
Come.
In the far distance of darkness, the ground began to tremble.
The roars of countless chimeras came from afar, but were swallowed by the darkness and became indistinct.
"Fire flares!"
Several glowstone flares shot out from the city wall, trailing pale yellow flames as they pierced the darkness and exploded in front of them, creating a wide curtain of light that illuminated the ground within a radius of several hundred meters.
"Another Chimera Beast? Then..."
The scout mouse, holding its binoculars, whispered something.
The second half of the sentence immediately stuck in his throat.
Beneath the light curtain, countless chimeras were running wildly, disregarding everything.
But they were all facing due north, and each beast was desperately stomping and squeezing against each other.
They are fleeing for their lives.
They fled north for their lives, disregarding everything!
Closely following the Chimera herd was a surging crimson torrent.
That crimson expanse had no fixed shape; it rolled across the land with viscous waves, submerging all dead trees and rubble in its path.
The Chimera, trailing behind, was overtaken by the wave, crimson liquid surging up its hind legs.
In an instant, the fur and muscle were stripped away, leaving only the white bones that appeared and disappeared on the churning ocean surface. Moments later, even the bones sank to the bottom.
One chimera after another was swallowed up, their roars ceasing abruptly the moment they were submerged.
"What is this?"
The scout mouse's voice trembled.
Molen put down his binoculars, his expression serious.
They are a pack of flesh and blood beasts.
But it's not an ordinary flesh and blood beast.
They are no longer those wriggling, fragile little lumps of flesh; they have all been reduced to a more basic form.
Gushing pus, biting flesh.
A sea of flesh and blood.
The entire land, from south to north, seemed to have a dividing line rapidly advancing. South of the dividing line, everything was swallowed up by scarlet red, and the vanguard of the scarlet wave surged toward the low hills.
"Should we hide quickly?" Scout Mouse turned his head and asked Morren anxiously.
"No need, they're like water, they can't climb city walls, as long as..."
A distant whale song.
The deep, lingering sound rose from the depths of the scarlet sea.
In the center of the scarlet wave, the flesh-colored sea surface churned violently.
One after another, fleshy pillars rose from the depths of the ocean, so thick they were immeasurable, their surfaces covered with writhing blood vessels and fascia, piercing straight into the dark clouds overhead.
Each fleshy pillar branches out at its top, unfurling a scarlet canopy that blots out the sky. The clearly defined fleshy branches spread out, swallowing up the last remaining bit of black above.
A colossal tree of flesh and blood rose from the ground, pressing down on the sky.
In the sea of flesh and blood, beneath the giant tree of flesh and blood, the churning flesh began to gather and solidify, and a colossal, absurd outline emerged from the sea.
The giant whale, composed of countless pieces of flesh, stood a hundred meters tall, raising its massive head that blotted out the sky. The afterglow of the fluorite flare fell upon its body, and the powdery fluorescence clung to the crimson curls, flashing intermittently.
The giant whale let out a second whale song and swam northward.
The low hill was surrounded by this ocean of blood and flesh. The crimson waves below the city walls crashed against the rock face, rising and falling continuously, churning up fleshy red foam.
Like a lone boat tossed about in a storm, it was heading straight for the giant whale.
Morren stared intently at the approaching fleshy behemoth.
The scout rat turned to look at Morren, but the eyes behind the wooden crate opening suddenly stopped looking at him and stared straight at the direction behind Morren.
Her voice was trembling.
“Baron, look at the top of the hill, isn’t there something there…”
Chapter 62 Flesh and Blood Current
On the hilltop, the mine rats grabbed shovels and picks and began hacking and smashing at the fleshy saplings that suddenly emerged from the cracks in the rocks.
The sapling was entirely scarlet, its surface covered with fine vein patterns.
It is rising at a visible rate, spreading rapidly across the gravel ground.
The saplings did not fight back, but for every one that was dug up, two more would grow.
The mine rats could only barely slow down its rampant growth; the pieces of flesh that were dug out quickly melted into a wisp of white steam as they hit the ground.
The fleshy tree sapling grew taller and taller, its top beginning to fork and spread out tender red fleshy branches.
"Squeak! Get out of the way!"
A mining rat squeaked and pulled out a lit artillery shell, then swung its little arm with all its might at the fleshy sapling.
But the grenade was too heavy. Even though she fell to the ground, the grenade only went a few steps before rolling with a thud next to the expanding fleshy tree roots.
"Run!"
The mouse girls scattered and fled, not forgetting to drag away the reckless guy who threw the cannonball as they ran for their lives.
boom!
The grenade exploded, sending blood and flesh flying into the air, and fragments raining down.
"Was it successful?"
The rat girls peeked out from behind their respective hiding places.
The cross-section of the broken stump was writhing violently, peeled apart by the force of the explosion, revealing a huge, beating heart at its base.
That heart was bigger than the entire mouse, and with each beat it spurted out a stream of crimson liquid.
The minced meat quickly gathered towards it from all directions, wrapping it up again, and new shoots were sprouting from the top of its heart.
Clang, clang.
Two giant cargo rats, each the size of a small elephant, dragged a jet train, speeding up the mountain along the mine tracks.
The militia rats hung on the jet train, their little hands frantically cranking the handle.
Red and green acid flames gushed from the nozzle, sweeping across the fleshy saplings. The proliferating flesh and blood rapidly disintegrated and crumbled under the continuous burning of the acid flames.
The outer layer of fleshy tissue peeled away piece by piece, charred and blackened, revealing once again the tenaciously beating heart inside.
