As soon as she finished speaking, a rat girl next to her poured cold water on her enthusiasm.

"If you sprayed acid fire in such a narrow space, you would have roasted yourself alive."

"Then what about using a spear? The other side can't dodge that either."

"You can't turn it either. The mine tunnel is so narrow that you can't even straighten the spear shaft. What will you do if you encounter soldier ants?"

The foreman rats chattered and made a ruckus.

Molen tapped the table.

All the mouse girls' ears perked up, and the meeting room fell silent instantly.

“I have a way,” Morren said.

"What kind of strange thing is it this time?" one of the rats whispered, already guessing.

The narrow underground space is indeed not suitable for the rat girl to make use of her weapon advantages; a single soldier ant can block the entire mine tunnel.

The rat girls, trapped in a long, single-line formation by the passage, have absolutely no chance of defeating the soldier ants in a one-on-one battle.

Even wolf girls can't gain much of an advantage in battles near ant nests, which is why the ant girls near Wolf Castle have never been completely wiped out.

But Morren's fighting philosophy has always been: if you can overwhelm someone with equipment, never rely on sheer numbers; if you can use underhanded tactics, never engage in direct combat.

It's time to teach the mouse girls how they deal with termites back home.

One word.

smoke.

Molen pulled a drawing from the corner of the table and unfolded it on the map.

This is a blueprint for an electrolytic cell; all the foreman rats have seen the markings and structure on the drawing.

Several months ago, they used these pools to recover copper from lime acid.

A month or two ago, they used this pool to electrolyze salt water to fill the airship's airbags with hydrogen.

Similar electrolytic cells are now found all over the hills.

One of the important tasks of the foreman rats every day is to carry a sign that reads "Electric Safety, Beware of Fire" and patrol the area.

However, it was obvious that Morren had made some modifications to the drawing in front of him.

The cathode was replaced with a mercury tank, the tank's sealing structure was reinforced, and two copper conduits were added at the bottom to allow mercury to flow, while the long tube at the top was still used to inflate the balloon.

There was also a large jar drawn next to it, with the filling labeled as graphite.

"Your Excellency, what is this?"

“Something that might send us to hell in the future,” Morren said. “If hell really exists.”

Chlorine gas.

Molen pointed to the newly added mercury electrode markings on the drawing.

“Take out all the mercury we bought from the new market, and modify as many of these devices as possible.”

Chapter 53 Training

Today, Morren is in evil mode.

It is indeed evil, extremely, extremely evil.

He was still wearing that big bird-beak mask, which was carefully wrapped with layer upon layer of lacquered cloth.

Every gap between the edge of the mask and the face was sealed tightly, so that not even a wisp of air could get in.

Two fist-sized metal canisters were added to the air intake of the bird's beak, containing filtered liquid that made gurgling sounds with each of Moren's breaths.

He looked extremely sinister and terrifying.

The training ground is surrounded on all sides. It is a natural recessed cave inside the low mountain, which the rat girls cleaned up and used specifically for training.

At this moment, a thick layer of green mist, more than a person tall, floated in the depression, churning and writhing near the ground.

In the mist, Morren held a short stick with its top shaved off in his right hand, his left hand slightly pulled back, his steps neither too far forward nor too backward, his sword stance firm.

More than thirty militia rats were divided into two groups, each holding a wooden stick the same length as a spear, and approached Morren with hunched backs and shuffling steps.

The leading militia rat raised its little hand and made a gesture, and the rat girls stepped forward in unison to form a circle.

Molen moved.

The short stick swept across, and the militia rat at the front hurriedly raised its stick to block, but before the sticks could even touch, Morren's figure had already slid past from the side.

Thump, the short stick struck the protective plate on her chest.

The militia rat could only pout and walk towards the rest area, sitting down next to the "fallen" rat girls.

The attacking rat girls simultaneously thrust out their long sticks, but the tips of the sticks only touched air.

Two militia rats on the left wing threw out their nets with all their might. The nets, mixed with copper wire, spread out in the air and swirled down.

Molen ducked to the side, and the net grazed his head before landing on the ground.

The second net flew in right after, but Morren didn't even look back. He just took a small step forward, and the net swept past him, missing its target.

They couldn't keep up with Morren at all.

Morren took a few steps back and moved toward the edge of the fog.

As the green mist swirled, his figure became blurred as he retreated into the thick fog, leaving only the outline of his bird-beak mask appearing and disappearing in the mist.

The militia rats' round ears stood up in unison and turned in all directions.

One of them suddenly pointed to the left.

"Over there, the footsteps are over there!"

The rat girls immediately turned around and pounced, their long sticks stabbing wildly in the mist.

Moren moved through the mist like a ghost, and several more ratgirls "fell" in an instant, but they did manage to hold him back for a brief moment.

In that brief moment, a militia rat carrying a water gun burst out from the flank, its short legs moving incredibly fast, and it shouted:

"Squeak, squeak, squeak, charge!"

Molen glanced down at her, then reached under a fallen wooden stick with his toe and gently flicked it.

The stick flipped and flew out, striking the water-spraying rat squarely on its chest plate.

"oops!"

The water-spraying mouse let go of its hands, and the water gun flew out of its grasp, causing it to sit upside down on the ground.

The whistle blew to signal the end of training.

The militia rats lay sprawled haphazardly on the training ground, their round ears drooping and their tails dragging listlessly behind them.

A militia rat rolled over, its two little feet kicking in the air, letting out a weak whine:

"Squeak! The Baron is too strong. We can't beat him at all."

"Yes, yes, one step is two steps for us, the mouse's legs can't catch up at all."

Molen rubbed his forehead and answered in a muffled voice through the bird-beak mask:

"This is nothing. When you run into those black foxes, you won't even be able to see what they're doing."

The mouse girls' ears drooped even lower.

Before training, Morren promised that if anyone could beat him, he would reward them with a glass of sweet wine.

The mouse girls lying on the ground looked dejected. They hadn't received their reward and had run out of energy, so the atmosphere was particularly gloomy.

A little mouse whispered what everyone was thinking:

"Does that mean the mouse will never be able to beat the fox?"

Molen stood up.

"How is that possible? Back then, Queen Victoria of the Rat Clan completely defeated the Fox Claw Dynasty, otherwise there would be no kingdom as we know it today."

He reached up and tapped the bird-beak mask on his face, making the metal can clang.

"Besides, you guys clearly won."

After Molen finished speaking, he turned and walked towards the higher ground.

The rat girls behind them all sat up, looking at each other.

Did we win?

"Your Excellency, please go easy on me!"

"It would be nice to have some sweet wine."

"Hey hey hey."

The tangled green mist did not rise, but remained obediently in the low-lying areas of the enclosed training ground.

The mouse girls, wearing aprons, pushed a jet train along, the fuel tanks rattling with lye water, and shouted:

"Make way, make way! They're spraying lye water!"

"Squeak! Run! Run!"

Once Morren had walked far out of the green mist and reached the rest platform on higher ground, he stopped, took off his coat, and anxiously checked the airtightness of his mask.

"Quickly spray baking soda all over me."

Two mouse girls ran over carrying a spray bottle and sprayed Moren with baking soda solution.

Exhausted, the militia rats followed Morren up to the resting platform, where they lay panting heavily on the ground, resting their heads on their companions' stomachs.

Molen glanced at them, his expression unchanged, but he was deeply shocked.

Mouse Girl.

Horror!

These adorable little creatures probably have no idea what a terrifying feat they've just accomplished.

Molen really didn't hold back.

Without the gas mask on his face, he would most likely be dead by now.

Molen walked to the edge of the rest platform and looked down.

The rich, green toxic fog in the training field is being gradually dissolved by the alkaline water, and the edges of the fog are swirling on the ground as they slowly thin out.

Chlorine gas.

Just one breath can burn through the throat, destroy the alveoli, and drown a person on flat ground.

Pure water has very poor electrical conductivity and is difficult to electrolyze, so it needs to be properly salted.

Previously, when the airship was being filled with hydrogen, a silly rat girl poured too much salt into the electrolytic cell, causing green smoke to fill the air everywhere.

Moren almost thought they were doomed, but the rat girls were unharmed.

Only a few people felt a little burning in their eyes, but after rubbing them, they were fine.

Generally speaking, the smaller the organism, the more sensitive it is to poisons.

But the rats' resistance to the toxins was so strong it was almost unscientific.

Thinking back, when refining mercuric fulminate, the byproducts were also highly toxic gases, yet the sulfur and alchemical rats seemed completely unaffected while they were busy working around.

Before that, the strong acid mist produced by the Lime Fire had never harmed any of the Rat Girls.

Mouse Girl.

Horror!

Molen looked down at the green poisonous fog that was being gradually eliminated by the alkaline water.

If the poison gas is not poisonous to the Rat Girl, then is the poison gas still considered poisonous to her?

Well.

At least, even if the kingdom's alchemists discovered it, they couldn't use it to slaughter the Rat Girls.

Molen felt a mix of emotions.
