Wade suddenly remembered a similar case that had occurred a month earlier.

Wade paused for a moment, then lowered his voice.

"Is it related to that company?"

I heard the person on the other end of the phone pause in breathing for a moment, and then their tone became more intense.

"Wade!"

"I see."

Wade hung up the phone.

He put his phone back in his pocket and stood there.

He knew what that reaction meant.

He knew that once the name of Shining Models and its real boss, Estelle, was involved, someone would be eager to extinguish the whole thing as if their tail had been stepped on.

He knew that the city had many rules written down, and those rules were far more effective than the constitution.

He knew all of this...

But that didn't stop him from memorizing that name.

Some cases can't be investigated, but some names, once remembered, will never be forgotten.

It's disgusting.

Even the mint in his mouth couldn't hide it.

"Let's go, back to the group."

---------------

Xu Ge sat on the edge of the bed, with his back to the window.

The curtains were drawn tightly, leaving only a small gap through which just enough light could make out the outline of the room.

He didn't turn on the light.

The snake's tail had retracted, and its legs had returned to their normal human form, with a few scales still faintly wriggling.

He is adapting his body to this new way of being.

He naturally heard the sound of police cars outside.

But he didn't leave, nor did he need to hide.

All he did was slowly cut a photo of a girl with a bright smile into circles with scissors.

The pocket watch was opened, and the photograph was inserted.

Click.

Shining Models, Gislin...

The snake is coming to bite you.

But just as they were about to leave, there was a knock on the door.

dong dong dong.

Three very restrained taps, knuckles striking the wooden door with just the right amount of force.

Xu Ge's movements froze instantly.

[Police? So fast? Impossible!]

His pupils contracted slightly, and his vertical snake-like eyes flashed briefly in the dim room.

Without making a sound, he walked along the wall to the door, stood sideways behind the wall, and used his index and middle fingers to lift the bottom corner of the curtain to look outside.

A young man stood under the corridor lights.

He was in his early twenties, with a Nikon camera hanging around his neck and a tattered notebook in his hand.

He wore a baseball cap, had blond hair, and beautiful violet eyes.

It gives people a strange sense of warmth, just like a golden retriever.

He doesn't seem like a policeman, nor does he seem like someone from Gislin.

“My name is Parker Gatsby, an investigative reporter for the Daily Bugle. Is this Mr. Hugo’s house?”

Chapter Six Rainy Night

Xu Ge did not answer.

The young man outside the door seemed to have anticipated his silence and continued, "I know about Shining Model Agency!"

"I also know about Anna Moretti!"

Xu Ge clenched his fist slightly, and his voice carried through the door.

What do you want here?

Pak took a deep breath.

"I hope you can become the eighth witness. I will compile the evidence I have gathered, and we will make these materials public! Expose them!"

"Let public opinion and the judicial system punish them! Send them to prison!"

What Pac didn't notice was that when he said, "Let the judicial system punish them," Xu Ge's lips twitched slightly.

crunch.

Xu Ge did not let Pakko into the house.

He walked out by himself and closed the door behind him.

He leaned against the corridor wall, arms crossed over his chest, looking at the young reporter in front of him who was half a head shorter than him.

“I’ve been tracking Shining Models for over half a year. I have a list of at least fourteen young women who disappeared after signing with the company. Their families have reported them missing, but the police haven’t made any progress.”

“We can expose this together! I have channels and media resources. As long as we integrate the information we have collected and release it publicly, the pressure from public opinion will force the judicial system to intervene.”

"The New York Times, the Washington Post, the BBC... no matter how strong their legal teams are, they can't suppress it."

"This is a society governed by the rule of law! We can win! We can put all those guys in jail!"

Xu Ge finally spoke.

"What do you think a single report can do?"

Pakko was taken aback.

"what?"

"I mean, you write an article, it's published in the newspaper, and hundreds of thousands of people see it the next day, and then what?"

"Then Gislin's legal team will issue a statement denying it, your editor-in-chief will be pressured, and your informants will shut up out of fear. Two months later, everyone will forget about it, the girls who are supposed to disappear will still disappear, and the people who are supposed to die will still die."

Upon hearing this, Pacco's tone became agitated, "I've thought about all of that, but you don't understand my method of conducting research!"

He pulled a stack of documents from his canvas bag; the edges of the papers were already curled and frayed, clearly indicating that he had read them repeatedly.

“Every missing person report I have has a signed and stamped photocopy…”

“I found three girls who escaped from Shining Models, and they are willing to testify in court…”

“I also have a bank transfer record that proves that Shining Model Agency’s account transferred large sums of money to several overseas accounts every month…”

Seeing the other party's excited expression, Xu Ge suddenly felt a little regretful. No matter what, the other party was trying to fight for justice in their own way.

Although I wasn't very optimistic, I just...

"Excuse me, what I mean is you can come to me if needed. I will testify in court."

As Pak listened to Xu Ge's reply, his expression finally became somewhat excited. Just as he was about to say something more, he suddenly realized that Xu Ge had already closed the door and then strode past him.

For some reason, he felt that the other person's emotions at that moment were somewhat strange.

But a feeling compelled him to speak his mind.

I have a feeling that if I don't speak up now, I'll never have another chance.

So he didn't stop them, but just as they were about to leave, he suddenly shouted something.

"and many more!"

Xu Ge suddenly stopped in his tracks.

“Shining Models Agency is ostensibly owned by Gislin, but I discovered something suspicious during my investigation! After a thorough investigation into the company’s financial flows, I found that the company’s shareholders may be someone else.”

"In other words, Shining Model Agency may only be the tip of the iceberg. I strongly suspect that the company's main job is to find young girls who are poor in economics but have outstanding appearances!"

Boom!

--------

Gislin Estate.

Heavy rain.

Inside the security room, three men were passing the time around a small television.

The screen was replaying a rugby game, and they had the volume turned up so high that it even drowned out the sound of rain outside.

"With this awful weather, what's the point of patrolling?"

The bearded man sitting closest to the door put his legs up on the table and yawned.

"Who would choose to come in this kind of weather?"

The other security guard looked younger; he was looking down at his phone.

"Didn't the captain say that someone was scouting the area? He told us to keep an eye on it."

"Scouting out the location?"

"People are scouting this place every day, but have you ever seen anyone actually get in?"

"Oh, by the way, those girls who come to your door are actually quite nice..."

"We've only got one prey today, right? Maybe if the boss has fun, he'll let us participate!"

"hey-hey."

"Sigh, I wonder if the boss will come to the manor today. If he does, we might not be bored tonight."

Just as the third security guard was about to speak, he suddenly heard something.

salsa.

"Did you hear that...?"

Before he could finish speaking, the lights in the security room suddenly went out with a sound like static from an electric current.

zizi.

Darkness instantly enveloped the small house.

"Damn, the power tripped?"

The bearded man cursed, he hadn't expected such a nice place to have a power outage.

After all, normally there are specialized repair services available.

He reached out to touch the flashlight on the table.

As a result, he didn't even get to the flashlight.

The first thing I felt was a cold touch.

"Holy crap, what is that?!"

Then he realized that the thing on his wrist was exerting force.

A tremendous force dragged him directly off the chair.

"Ahhhhh!!!"

Boom!

His body then knocked over the table, his back slammed heavily onto the floor, and he was finally dragged into the rain outside the door.
