"Yes~" The girl jumped into the boy's arms and rubbed against him, making a muffled sound, "Cheng Fei, the kitty is so happy now."
"why?"
"Because it feels like I've married Cheng Fei, and I'm living a happy married life." Nagasaki Asuna looked up at him with her bright, clear eyes and a smug smile on her lips.
The boy looked at her silently for a second, then sighed with a sense of relief and said nothing.
The girl blinked.
The boy suddenly cupped her face in his hands and leaned in close.
The girl opened her eyes wide, feeling caught off guard, but quickly relaxed. She tried to stand on tiptoe and offer her sweet scent to the boy, her eyes slightly closed, with glimmers of light swirling between her thick eyelashes.
1045. Only three people completed the repairs.
Slit dimension.
Cheng Fei and Nagasaki Asuna's figures appeared on the teleportation platform of the research station, and they immediately saw the aloof girl with long silver hair standing in front of them.
"Good evening, Teacher Shen. Did you feel lonely being outside all alone today?" The boy smiled and opened his arms to her.
Shen Xi narrowed her eyes at him, her face turning displeased. Without a word, she walked forward, raised her chin and stared at him for a second under the boy's questioning gaze, then gritted her teeth and strode towards the research station's door.
Cheng Fei and Nagasaki Asuna exchanged a glance.
"Nana, come quick, check on her!" The boy watched the slender figure disappear.
"Nana can't tell either. She's probably sulking about something," the sweet girl with long pink hair said, shading her eyes with her hand and tilting her head.
The boy hesitated for a second, then quickly followed after her.
The three continued the unfinished repair work.
"Teacher Shen, what's bothering you? Tell me about it." The boy said while operating the equipment.
"That's ridiculous. Nobody here is unhappy." Shen Xi continued with her work with a cold expression.
"Really? What did you mean just now?"
"He's shameless to chat with other girls in front of his girlfriend."
"Is this an indication that I should ask Nana when she's not around?"
"No one here is implying anything to you, so stop slandering them over there."
"Um, wouldn't it be better if Nana disappeared now?" Nagasaki Asuna sat upright with her legs together, tilting her head casually.
"Idiot, that's not what I meant."
"Please stay put. I don't want to get entangled with someone else's boyfriend alone."
Cheng Fei and Shen Xi spoke at the same time; the former looked helpless, while the latter spoke coldly and without emotion.
"Eh? Okay, since you both say so." The sweet girl nodded, looking completely harmless.
"Teacher Shen, so what exactly did you mean just now? Can you answer me directly?"
"Sorry, it's a secret."
"Sigh, my little cutie is holding a grudge again."
"Ha, Nagasaki Asuna heard that? What your boyfriend called me was his idea, it has nothing to do with me."
Nagasaki Asuna opened her mouth.
"You two are both my little darlings, thank you," the boy said first.
Asuna Nagasaki watched his eyes crinkle into happy crescents and gave up on speaking.
"I feel like throwing up, but I can't pollute the research station's environment." The aloof girl covered her mouth with a serious expression.
"Teacher Shen, what is it that's bothering you? Is it really impossible to tell?" the boy sighed.
The aloof girl paused for a second, her eyelids twitching slightly. "It's nothing, I just realized that some people really lack business acumen these days. That makes sense, after all, not everyone can be as profit-driven and unscrupulous as some creatures from the sewers."
"Um, could you be more specific anyway?"
"Specifically, if a store either doesn't offer delivery or has a pitifully small delivery range, it might as well close down as soon as possible."
Cheng Fei stroked his chin, pondering for a second, "You don't mean that dim sum restaurant and Northeastern cuisine place on Guang'an Street, do you?"
"Nagasaki Asuna, your boyfriend is crazy. Did you hear me mention Guang'an Street in any of my words?" The aloof girl glared at the boy, then looked away with a look of disgust.
"Hey, it's true that Cheng Fei is my boyfriend, but do you have to keep emphasizing it?" The pink-haired girl sitting there tapped her chin with her fingertip.
This made the aloof girl turn her face away, becoming even more annoyed.
"Teacher Shen, so you're just sulking because you couldn't order takeout? Your little animal instincts are kicking in again." The boy shook his head and sighed, then glanced sideways. "Just tell me your new address quietly, maybe I can help you be your delivery driver?"
"Don't dream. If a delivery guy like you were to barge into the house of a high school girl like me living alone, who knows what kind of danger I would fall into? I'd rather starve to death." The aloof girl glared at him fiercely.
"Huh? There's such a way to play?" Nagasaki Asuna blinked, showing a little surprise.
"As you can see, this is Teacher Shen's favorite game lately: playing the role of an innocent and virtuous high school girl and having all sorts of things done to her." The boy nodded seriously.
"Thinking about it carefully, it's actually quite good." The sweet girl pursed her lips, her eyes darted around, and she pressed her legs together forcefully.
"Stop spouting nonsense over there. There's no one playing this role here. I advise you to keep your boyfriend in check." The aloof girl looked at the two of them, first glaring at the boy, then frowning as she looked at Nagasaki Asuna.
"If Shen Xi really likes it, I wouldn't mind lending you Cheng Fei occasionally," Nagasaki Asuna said quietly, turning her face away.
"..." The aloof girl stared at her, her pupils contracting, her small hands clenching and trembling slightly.
A crisp snapping sound rang out.
The boy next to her turned his head, grabbing his hair in horror, "Teacher Shen! Why did you break the data fiber? We didn't have much stock to begin with!"
"Shut up! I can do whatever I want with my things!" she immediately roared back without backing down.
"I was the one who kept emphasizing my boyfriend, but he got angry over something I said casually?" Nagasaki Asuna muttered to herself as she watched this scene.
Amidst these occasional arguments, the three (actually two) continued working until midnight once again.
In the equipment room underground at the research station, Cheng Fei installed the repaired components one by one into the original positions of the jump system, and then carefully checked to make sure there were no omissions.
"It's finished. As expected of me." The boy put his hands on his hips, looked at the complex Protoss device in front of him, and nodded in satisfaction.
"It's all fixed now, can we go to Shen Xi's home planet?" Nagasaki Asuna stood beside her, curious.
"Theoretically, it's fine. Let's test it out." The boy cleared his throat. "Little Yi, give it a try."
Isena's earnest announcement rang out in the research station, "Received, initializing... An anomaly detected in the tropism transformation module... Ignore... Calibrate tropism transformation parameters based on received coordinates... Release dimensional probe... Dimensional probe successfully retrieved... Verifying data... Verification passed, successful, Archon!"
"Luckily, I'm a cut above the rest." The boy wiped away non-existent cold sweat with an exaggerated gesture.
Nagasaki Asuna looked on with a puzzled yet impressive expression and clapped her hands slightly.
A silent, sharp gaze pierced the boy.
He turned around and saw Shen Xi's furrowed brows. "Teacher Shen, I went to so much trouble to fix your things, and you didn't even offer a kiss as a thank you? What was that look in your eyes?"
"Tell me honestly, Cheng Fei—did Nagasaki Asuna's boyfriend steal my wisdom?" The aloof girl stared intently at him, her unwavering gaze seeming to see right through him.
The boy paused for a second, then said, "Teacher Shen, I know you've always been very confident in your intelligence, but please don't be so suspicious, thank you."
"Otherwise, how do you explain how Nagasaki Asuna's boyfriend, who even had to rack his brains to surpass me at school, could suddenly understand Protoss technology?" Shen Xi asked, puzzled.
“Teacher Shen, people grow up, and at least the jump system has a detailed maintenance manual, right? You’ve read it, haven’t you?” The boy shrugged.
"Just because I can understand doesn't mean Nagasaki Asuna's boyfriend can." The cool and aloof girl raised her chin, her small face showing no hesitation.
"Um, could you please stop using that term? It feels really weird. Shen Xi can call Cheng Fei the same way you always do, it's fine with me." Nagasaki Asuna covered her face, looking like she couldn't bear to watch.
"Teacher Shen, look, even Nana can't take it anymore." The boy said with a look of sympathy.
Shen Xi turned her face away and stared at the wall. "Fine then. You like me and your boyfriend calling each other by ambiguous names in front of you? You're hopelessly stupid."
After finishing speaking to himself, he took a deep breath, turned back and glared at the boy, his tone resolute, "Cheng Feiyu's brain must be different from before, otherwise it wouldn't be like this genetic mutation. I can't think of any other reason besides stealing my wisdom."
The boy and she looked at each other and fell silent.
If it weren't for the [Mechanical Creator], he certainly wouldn't have been able to help repair the warp system like he is now.
The boy realized something: Shen Xi probably possessed the same extraordinary abilities, which was why she was able to repair the tailless scorpion by simply taking some parts from the corridor, while the boy could only do manual labor.
Let's assume that 9 points of intelligence correspond to the most outstanding geniuses among humans, such as Einstein, who could publish the theory of special relativity at the age of 26. But if we suddenly throw a Protoss creation that is so advanced as to be indistinguishable from magic in front of him, it would be like throwing a modern stealth fighter jet in front of an ancient person. Even the most brilliant mind would be helpless, because the multidisciplinary knowledge involved is difficult even for modern technical experts to grasp, let alone for ancient people who lack even basic concepts. Even if they wanted to overturn the original knowledge system and learn it, it would be a question whether the lifespan of an Earth human could complete it.
Thanks to the [Mechanical Creator], Cheng Fei was able to skip this process and understand the mysteries of Protoss technology almost entirely on his own.
This is why Shen Xi always looks down on the whole world and believes that her genius is unique. If you have been like this since childhood, it is hard not to have this mentality.
Following this logic, the fact that the boy suddenly accomplished something that only she could do before is indeed as unusual as a genetic mutation.
"Teacher Shen, I've already given up on questioning me. I've already said that my mind is smart enough to match yours." Cheng Fei shook his head and sighed, then continued before the other person could speak, "Teacher Shen, we've finally achieved our goal, let's quickly decide what to do next. Should we log off and sleep to recharge, or should we go to your hometown right now?"
The aloof girl was about to say something when she was interrupted and paused for a moment, then her eyes flickered, "Of course, we'll set off now."
Nagasaki Asuna, who had been watching the boy's changing expression, looked at Shen Xi and asked, "Eh, going to stay up all night again?"
"If you don't want to come, you don't have to." The aloof girl glared at her without any politeness.
“Cheng Fei is clearly my boyfriend. Didn’t he say before that he didn’t want to be alone with me?” Nagasaki Asuna’s eyes darted around, and she put her hands behind her back as if nothing had happened.
Shen Xi narrowed his eyes and stared at her, a chill suddenly emanating from his body.
"Teacher Shen, Nana was just joking." The boy raised his hand to block the two of them, remaining calm. "Nana, don't make Teacher Shen angry."
"Okay~" Nagasaki Asuna replied obediently in a second.
"Then let's set off now, Isena. Prepare to jump to the coordinates of the home planet we received last time." Shen Xi turned her face away and gave the order in a cold voice.
"Understood, clearing the transition path... Please remain standing still..."
As the childish voice faded, the three figures vanished from the spot.
After a brief blur of vision, Cheng Fei found that the three of them had entered a bright, enclosed space. They could see comfortable chairs against the wall and decorative alien plants.
"Teacher Shen, is this your home planet?" the boy asked curiously.
"Governor, this is the cabin of the research station's warp system. It's ready to use now, so this journey will be more comfortable," Isena's voice came from above.
"Great, at least I don't have to sit in the cargo hold anymore." The boy breathed a sigh of relief and casually picked a seat to sit down.
Nagasaki Asuna immediately sat down as well.
Shen Xi looked around, then chose an empty seat between herself and the boy, and sat down upright.
The boy glanced at her and shook his head helplessly. "Speaking of Teacher Shen..."
"Excuse me, I don't want to sit next to someone who has a girlfriend." The cool and aloof girl spoke quickly, as if she had prepared her answer in advance.
"That's not what I wanted to talk about." The boy hesitated, rubbing his chin. "Teacher Shen, I just have a question."
"What?" Shen Xi glanced at him, her expression unchanged.
"If we just run off to some other place without even a decent set of protective clothing, what if the environment there is extremely harsh and unsuitable for a stand-in to survive?" the boy said seriously.
"Heh, as expected of Cheng Feiyu, who lacks a sense of security. First of all, we're not just going somewhere random. The existence of Protoss facilities means there's a safe environment there, especially since it's the Protoss homeworld. And if there's any danger, we can just jump back as soon as possible." The girl said coldly.
"What if it's like the place where we fell, and once we're there we can't get back?" the boy pointed out.
The girl stared at the wall, her face tense. After a moment of silence, she spoke, "Then we'll just have to play it by ear."
"As expected of Teacher Shen, you have such a good attitude." The boy nodded respectfully. "I hope we won't be teleported to the surface of some vacuum planet or something."
The girl abruptly turned her head and stared at him, her gaze sharp.
"Teacher Shen, what's wrong?" the boy asked hesitantly.
"Cheng Feiyu, stop jinxing me!" the girl emphasized, her worry on her face genuine.
The boy pursed his lips. "Teacher Shen, to be honest, I feel like I've been having pretty good luck lately, and I don't think I'll have any more bad luck stories like this."
If he were to encounter obvious bad luck despite his extraordinary good fortune, he would have to give the system a piece of his mind—or rather, give the petite Shen Xi a piece of his mind now.
"That makes sense. It seems they've stolen quite a few abilities from that Lin guy again." Shen Xi turned her face away and sneered.
"Teacher Shen, please, just give up on this theory of stealing abilities." The boy sighed heavily.
"Sewage rats are known for stealing things, so there's no point in arguing." The aloof girl ignored him, her icy face remaining unreadable.
