Nagasaki Asuna smiled slightly, waited a moment, and then said, "So, what are you going to do with me today, Cheng Fei?"
872. Nagasaki Asuna loves the clear sky at dusk.
Cheng Fei, with one hand supporting his chin, drove and casually said, "Let's go for a drive."
"Going for a drive?" Nagasaki Asuna's clear, bright eyes were unblinking, reflecting the boy's handsome profile.
"Yeah, I happen to have some free time." The boy said casually.
"Okay~" the girl replied sweetly in a well-behaved manner, without asking any further questions.
The air in the car was quiet for a moment. Nagasaki Asuna, still turned to look at the boy, asked curiously, "Where are we going for a drive?"
"I don't know." The boy pondered seriously for a moment, "How about going to the wetland park?"
"The one we went to before?" The girl tilted her head, seemingly lost in thought.
"Correct."
"The owner can take the cat anywhere," the girl nodded with a smile.
The boy ruffled her hair in response.
The girl let them do as they pleased, and laughed even more happily.
"Cheng Fei."
"what?"
"What brings you here, Senior Fang Qing?"
"It's important business."
"so."
"Jealous?"
"No, a pampered cat won't get jealous." The girl shook her head seriously.
You'll find out the details tomorrow.
"Okay~" the girl drawled, then paused, "How was your vacation with Lin?"
"She suspected that Ye Shuang had been fooled by me."
"Lin is working very hard now." The girl tapped her chin lightly with her fingertip and pursed her lips.
The boy gripped the steering wheel, staring straight ahead, and said nothing.
"Cheng Fei."
"what?"
"Will you be sad when the day comes that you break up with Lin?" the girl asked casually.
The boy remained motionless. "You have too many questions, classmate."
"I understand, it was the cat that was being nosy." The girl zipped up her lipstick.
The boy casually kneaded her soft cheeks.
Nagasaki Asuna closed her eyes slightly and nuzzled against him, as if it were some kind of enjoyment.
"Cheng Fei."
"What's wrong now?"
"How's it going with Shuangshuang?"
"We can barely kiss, though we have to come up with a lot of excuses."
"Should we make Ai an apostle in the future?"
"We'll see how things go, provided Shen Xi agrees."
"Is the company's financing going smoothly? The money in the account is getting less and less."
"There's no progress yet, but I already have a plan."
"Are Nana's legs pretty?"
That's enough.
Amidst such casual conversation, the Panamera drove towards a remote corner of Academy City.
As evening approached, people who had been busy all day were leaving get off work or school. Cheng Fei drove slowly, and could clearly see the bustling street scene.
Asuna Nagasaki looked out the window, but quickly lost interest. She then turned to the boy, staring intently at his profile, a smile unconsciously spreading across her sweet and charming face.
"What are you laughing about over there?" The young man driving glanced at her.
"The thought of spending my whole life like this with Cheng Fei makes me so happy." Nagasaki Asuna placed her hand on her chest and closed her eyes, as if she were feeling something.
"It's like saying 'a lifetime' all the time; gravity is too strong, classmate."
“That’s how the attraction between a cat and its owner works,” the girl nodded to herself.
The wetland park was quiet and deserted on a weekday.
Cheng Fei parked the car at the gate. The tall red maple leaves were deep green, and they rustled in the wind, as if welcoming the two of them.
As soon as Cheng Fei got out of the car, Nagasaki Asuna immediately snuggled up to him and took his arm.
Upon entering the park, the intense heat in the air quickly dissipates.
The girl took a deep breath of the cool air and exclaimed, "Summer is so wonderful, it's much more comfortable than winter."
"Then why did you insist on coming in winter?" The boy recalled how she had come to their date in the freezing cold wearing a short skirt and stamping her feet to keep warm.
"How can there be summer without winter?" The girl said with a meaningful expression.
Cheng Fei pinched her cheek and led her into the park.
Although I had been here before, the scenery in summer was completely different from that in winter. Everywhere I looked was lush green, and everything was enveloped in the warm twilight. A gentle breeze was blowing, and I felt indescribably refreshed.
The two walked along the same boardwalk they had taken the previous year. That evening, the wind blew through the lush reeds, and the girl leaned on the boy's shoulder, her bright eyes reflecting the rippling water.
"Cheng Fei," Nagasaki Asuna murmured softly.
"what happened?"
"It's nothing," the girl said, shaking her head with a smile.
"I wanted to ask you this from the beginning, what does it mean?" The boy turned his head to look at her, puzzled.
The girl's eyes darted around, and she smiled mischievously. "Because I like Cheng Fei, I deliberately called out Cheng Fei's name to get his attention."
The boy looked speechless and offered no comment.
The park was unusually quiet; apart from the wind rustling the water and the occasional birdsong, there was no other sound. The two people's footsteps on the path became particularly noticeable.
Nagasaki Asuna sighed comfortably, not without a hint of smugness, "While Shen Xi is still looking for trouble, Nana has already started living the life of the finale ahead of time."
When the boy looked at her with a helpless expression, the girl immediately returned a bright smile.
As the sun set, the orange-red fireball on the horizon spread the brilliant sunset across the earth. The two arrived at the place they had visited last year. Next to the dark red boardwalk was a terrace facing the open water.
In the center of the otherwise normal terrace, a piano stands out conspicuously, its expensive black lacquer gleaming, reflecting the surrounding scenery, both incongruous and perfectly integrated.
It was a brand new Steinway, as if it had just been specially moved here. When the two first entered the wetland park, there was a group of people here carefully wiping it to make sure the entire instrument was spotless. Now those people had disappeared without a trace, just to leave the stage to the two of them.
Nagasaki Asuna was stunned by what she saw. "Where did this come from?"
"I had someone bring them in before." Cheng Fei put his hands in his pockets, looked them over, and nodded in satisfaction.
"Huh, you brought it in?" The girl looked surprised. "This is clearly a park, how is this allowed?"
"Why not? Just make up some excuse about filming a movie, and pay the venue fee." The boy shrugged, walked over, and casually pressed two buttons to confirm that the tone was well-tuned.
Cheng Fei sat down on the stool in front of the piano and patted the seat next to him as a gesture.
Nagasaki Asuna obediently sat down next to him, her fair legs pressed together beneath her school uniform skirt. She turned her head to look at the boy, her expression increasingly puzzled. "Cheng Fei, so what does this mean?"
"Silly girl, today is your birthday." The boy pinched her soft, delicate, and sweet face again.
"Birthday?" Nagasaki Asuna realized something and her eyes widened.
Cheng Fei took out his phone to check the time, then looked towards the end of the wetland. The orange-red sunset was just before sinking below the horizon, and the brilliant rays of light radiated outwards, dyeing the sky and the water the same color. Long contrails stretched out into the distance, and the water birds that flew by turned into a few black dots.
In the quiet, deserted wetland park, everything seemed to be presented just for the two of them.
"I heard that this time of day is the best time to watch the sunset," Cheng Fei said seriously.
Nagasaki Asuna didn't go to see the sunset; she stared blankly at the boy, as if she had lost the ability to think.
"Don't you love the clear sky at dusk? It should be perfect now." The boy ruffled her hair, making her smooth, long hair, which she had just tidied up, mess up again.
Nagasaki Asuna suddenly covered her mouth, her full breasts heaving, and her clear, bright eyes widened, as if something inside them was trembling.
"Idiot, why aren't you saying anything?" The boy removed her hand from her mouth and gently pinched her face, shaking it from side to side.
"Why is Cheng Fei suddenly like this..." The girl clutched her chest, feeling as if she had been struck by a heavy blow, her trembling eyes clearly reflecting the scene before her.
"Suddenly? I just thought you probably wouldn't be interested in celebrating with them, so why don't we go on a date by ourselves?" The boy gently stroked her cheek with a doting expression.
“Cheng Fei…” Nagasaki Asuna’s voice trembled slightly.
"Alright, this time it's official, Canon in D major, dedicated only to my Nana, happy birthday." The boy turned his gaze to the piano, his slender fingers touched the keys, he paused for a moment, and then slowly began to play.
So as the setting sun dipped into the water of the wetland park, its lower half dissolving into an illusory reflection, the melodious tune of Canon, carrying a touch of melancholy, drifted into the evening breeze.
The boy closed his eyes slightly, focusing intently on his performance. His fingerwork was both gentle and powerful, and the recurring melody blossomed from his fingertips, blending with the changing sunset to permeate everything around him.
Beside him, a sweet girl with long coffee-colored hair placed her hands on her chest, staring intently at his profile. Her eyes gradually became moist and misty, and glistening tears silently fell from her eyes and rolled down her cheeks.
Memories I had long forgotten from last year resurfaced.
On that equally clear evening, the handsome boy walked towards the school gate with his hands in his pockets, gazing at the contrails in the sky as if deep in thought. The girl took a deep breath, mustered her courage, and followed him, casually striking up a conversation, "It's so beautiful. I love the clear sky at dusk the most."
When the boy looked at her, she tilted her head and revealed a gentle, healing smile like the sunset, "Nagasaki Asuna."
“Cheng Fei,” the boy said calmly, “your Chinese is good.”
"Does 'okay' mean 'good'?"
"correct."
……
When the song ended, Cheng Fei looked up at Nagasaki Asuna and found that the girl's face was covered with tears, like a pear blossom in the rain.
"Silly girl, why are you crying?" The boy cupped her face and wiped away her tears.
Nagasaki Asuna remained motionless, letting the boy stroke her tear-stained face, like a delicate doll stuck in a rut.
After a few seconds, she blinked slowly, as if regaining her senses. Then, she suddenly threw herself into the boy's arms, hugging him tightly, her voice trembling with tears, "Cheng Fei!!!"
"What are you doing?" The boy caught her and gently patted her back with a helpless expression.
"I thought Cheng Fei wouldn't celebrate my birthday specially!" Nagasaki Asuna said loudly, burying her face in his chest and hugging him tightly.
"How could that be? Do you think I have a bad memory?"
"But Nana is just a cat!"
"Even if it really is a cat, it's a very important cat." The boy rubbed her head vigorously.
"Eh, is it really such an important cat?" Nagasaki Asuna stepped back slightly, staring at him with disbelief, her eyes red-rimmed and her hair stuck to her face with tears.
"What's with that expression? It's important, of course." The boy looked at her and continued to wipe away her tears.
“Cheng Fei…” The girl sobbed blankly, tears rolling down her cheeks as if there was something wrong with her tear ducts.
"Don't cry. I went to great lengths to prepare a surprise for you, so please cheer up, thank you." Cheng Fei looked at that sweet face, which became even more endearing, and after thinking for a moment, added, "At least wait until I tell you to cry before you cry."
"Ugh..." Nagasaki Asuna's pupils contracted, her soft body trembled, her legs squeezed tightly together, she suddenly hugged the boy's neck, closed her eyes and rushed towards him with a sense of recklessness, desperately offering her sweet and soft breath.
As the sun sets, the boundary between the sky and the water becomes increasingly blurred under the glow of the sunset, merging completely into one, indistinguishable from one another.
Cheng Fei and Nagasaki Asuna did not leave the wetland park until it was almost dark.
The girl nestled against the boy's shoulder, her shapely, long legs moving in sync with his.
