"Teacher Shen, hurry up and eat the shrimp paste. Our solar system only has one sun, so please don't use freezing rays to extinguish the fire." After Cheng Fei finished speaking, he observed Shen Xi for a second. Seeing that she didn't intend to turn her head, he continued to put ingredients into the pot as if nothing had happened, then turned his head to look at the other side, "By the way, Nana."
"Hmm?" The sweet girl next to me tilted her head.
"Is it possible to use your abilities in the dual-body world to sense what's happening on the sun?" The boy picked up a slice of watermelon and enjoyed it, exclaiming how sweet it was.
Shen Xi glared at him out of the corner of her eye, gritted her teeth in annoyance, and kicked him under the table again.
"Nana's abilities aren't that amazing, are they? Sensing the feelings of those around her is already her limit," Nagasaki Asuna replied earnestly.
"Okay." The boy nodded, seemingly unaware of the attack under the table.
A few minutes later, Cheng Fei took the lobster that had been cut in half and put into the clear soup pot earlier, and put one half into the bowl of the cool girl next to him who was gradually starting to act as a human air conditioner, emitting cold air.
"Teacher Shen." The boy called her softly, and when she turned her head, he put the other half into her bowl as well, bowing respectfully, "Please eat, I ordered it especially for you."
"Trash." Shen Xi glanced around, making sure that her bowl contained only one lobster, and muttered the same curse under her breath. She then resumed her expressionless eating and, when she noticed the boy watching her with a smile, she gave him a light kick under the table.
"Cheng Fei, Cheng Fei, is Lin Xuanqi coming tomorrow?" Zhou Han said while simmering duck intestines.
"That's true." The boy put his favorite ingredients in.
"Oh, oh." The petite girl nodded in understanding, rolled the duck intestines in the dipping sauce, and then put them in her mouth. Her expression changed as she fanned her mouth, "It's so hot and spicy!"
This question elicited a subtle, unspoken expression from everyone at the table, and no one responded.
Ye Shuang lowered her head and silently finished the sliced pomelo in the fruit plate.
Cheng Fei peeled all the pomelos with lightning speed, put them back in front of the obedient girl, and then took out the ingredients he had cooked from the spicy pot and put them into a bowl before eating them by himself.
Shen Xi glanced at what was in his bowl, her delicate brows furrowing slightly, a hint of disgust appearing on her small face. "What are you eating?"
"You can't recognize pig brains when you're cooking them in hot pot?" the boy said casually.
"No, I just suspect that Cheng Feiyu's stupidity might be due to his fondness for eating this kind of thing," the girl said with disdain.
"Teacher Shen, what are you saying? It's delicious. I've never seen you eat it before. Would you like to try some?" The boy was very enthusiastic and pushed the bowl in front of her.
"No need for thanks, you can enjoy this disgusting stuff yourself." The girl shrank back, her face turning horrified, as if facing a monstrous flood.
"Disgusting? I think pig brains are actually quite delicious," Zhou Han said, looking at the two of them.
"You have good taste. I'll share half with you." Cheng Fei gave a thumbs up, decisively scooped out half with a spoon and gave it to the petite girl, then looked to the side, "Teacher Shen shouldn't mind, right?"
"Nonsense. Give it to whomever you like, it's none of my business." The aloof girl gave a seemingly disdainful sneer, narrowing her eyes as she continued eating her lobster.
"Ruan Jingyi, let's share this." Zhou Han's eyes were empty, and she treated the food the boy offered with caution.
Nagasaki Asuna watched this scene with a gloating smile. When no one was paying attention, she pretended to have taken the boy's alcoholic beverage by mistake, took a sip through the straw, and then put it back.
Leaving aside the story about pig brains, the Corridor Research Department spent dinner in a relaxed and pleasant (probably) atmosphere.
As night fell, the group strolled back to the hotel, taking the opportunity to digest their meal.
"Shen Xi, please don't be mean to me anymore, okay?" Nagasaki Asuna said, linking arms with the cool and aloof girl, in a slightly confused tone.
"You hopeless vixen, I told you not to drink." The latter looked annoyed but helpless.
"I only had a tiny bit of cocktail, and I shared it with Zhou Han." The sweet girl gave a perfectly reasonable explanation, making a "tiny bit" gesture.
"I've said it before, not even a little bit is allowed!" Shen Xi became even more irritated and raised her voice.
The boy next to him, with his hands in his pockets, had a slight smile on his lips. When the aloof girl seemed to notice and stared at him, he coughed and pursed his lips, becoming serious.
"Cheng Fei, Cheng Fei, I have a suggestion." Zhou Han leaned in, arm in arm with Ruan Jingyi, looking quite alert.
"Tell me about it," the boy said, looking at her.
"How about you come with us to the hot springs later? It's just the few of us, and we're all friends, so it's really no big deal, right?" the petite girl said casually.
After she finished speaking, the boy observed her with a sense of hesitation.
Zhou Han blinked her round eyes and met the boy's gaze, her expression still very clear.
Ruan Jingyi looked at her best friend and opened her mouth, a question mark seemingly appearing on her usually expressionless face.
"Since there are two pools, it's best to separate them. I don't understand the point of soaking in them together." A voice devoid of emotion rang out, and Shen Xi stared coldly ahead.
"It's more fun to soak together, or are you jealous, Shen Xi? Don't be so petty," Zhou Han said with a smile.
The aloof girl looked surprised and turned to look at her with a puzzled expression.
Zhou Han blinked her round eyes and met Shen Xi's gaze, her expression still clear.
"Are you drunk?" Shen Xi took a deep breath, realizing something.
"Me? No, I only drank a little bit, just like Asuna." The petite girl shook her head, also making a "little bit" gesture.
"I support everyone going together! Let's vote!" Nagasaki Asuna suddenly raised her hand and shouted.
"You vixen, please stop going crazy." Shen Xi paused for a moment, then gritted her teeth and turned to glare at her.
"Milian, you go first." Nagasaki Asuna ignored Shen Xi and showed her signature gentle and healing smile.
Miriam was hit hard by the charm and decisively raised her hand in support, "If it's a junior, I think it's fine too!"
"Cheng Fei, Cheng Fei, how about we go for a soak together? You won't look down on us, will you?" Zhou Han looked at the boy, his sober appearance no different from usual.
"Cheng Fei." Shen Xi gazed ahead and uttered two words lightly.
"I object; it doesn't feel right." Ye Shuang glanced at the group, remaining expressionless.
"I abstain," Ruan Jingyi said softly.
Suddenly, there was only one person left who hadn't voted.
"Three votes to two, as long as Cheng Fei doesn't object, that's fine!" Nagasaki Asuna's thinking was clear.
"I abstain," said the boy caught in the middle.
Shen Xi's pupils contracted, and she looked at him with an expression of incomprehension.
"However, in principle, I won't go with everyone. I don't mean to be disgusted, I just think it's not a good idea, so I'm sorry, Zhou Han." The boy finished speaking in a nonchalant yet unquestionable tone, and glanced at the petite girl next to him.
"Okay, I was just suggesting it, then forget it." The petite girl scratched her head and gave an innocent smile.
"Huh? How could Cheng Fei go against everyone's vote? That's so unfair!" Nagasaki Asuna complained.
“Miss Nagasaki, your junior is a boy after all. Even though we’re familiar with each other, it’s better to keep a little distance, hahaha…” Miriam comforted her in a relaxed manner.
Cheng Fei, with his hands still in his pockets, casually turned his head to look at Shen Xi beside him, giving her a doting smile.
The aloof girl paused for a moment when her eyes met his, then subtly turned her face away, staring blankly elsewhere, her stubborn pink lips tightly closed.
……
into the night.
Ye Shuang arrived outside Shen Xi's room, knocked on the frame of the shoji door, and waited for a response from inside before opening the door and going in.
A cool, aloof girl with long, dark hair knelt in front of a low table, intently studying something with a tablet and pen and paper. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and looked up at her.
"Miss will be coming tomorrow at noon. Shall we change rooms?" the obedient girl said softly.
Shen Xi paused for a second, then nodded expressionlessly, "Understood."
This wasn't the first time they'd done something like this, and without a word, the two immediately set to move their personal belongings.
Along the way, Shen Xi suddenly stopped. "By the way, there's a question."
"What?" The obedient girl tilted her head to look at her.
"Is there anything Cheng Fei specifically told you not to tell me?" The cool, aloof girl's tone remained unchanged.
Staring into those pure, ink-black eyes, Ye Shuang suddenly remembered the dagger that had appeared on both Earth and in the corridor. She felt a pang of nervousness, but outwardly shook her head slowly, "No."
"Can't you just tell me?" Shen Xi frowned slightly.
"I..." The obedient girl realized she had been seen through, lowered her head and bit her lip lightly, her expression becoming uneasy. "He told me not to say, you go ask him."
"I understand." Shen Xi nodded directly and gave up asking further questions.
"Then I'll go first?" The obedient girl breathed a sigh of relief.
"Ah."
After watching Ye Shuang leave, the aloof girl quietly sat down in the new room to continue her research.
Some time later, her door was flung open without any politeness, and the boy's familiar, helpless voice came through, "Teacher Shen, why didn't you tell me you ran away? It was so embarrassing for me to suddenly open Master Ye's door."
"Isn't this perfect? It makes you look innocent and allows you to barge into her room openly." Shen Xi sneered without looking up.
"Little cutie, why do you seem a little unhappy?" Cheng Fei sat down next to her, observing her beautiful yet cold little face.
The girl didn't answer, continuing with what she was doing without moving.
"Strange, I don't think I did anything to upset Her Highness the Princess, did I?" The boy rubbed his chin seriously.
"Heh." The girl ignored him and narrowed her eyes.
"Little cutie, I was wrong, please forgive me." Cheng Fei slapped his hands together.
Shen Xi turned her head and looked at him with a puzzled expression. "If I hadn't told you you did something wrong, I don't know what I should forgive you for?"
"What a coincidence, I didn't know either, but anyway, I apologize first." The boy had a frank expression.
As soon as she finished speaking, the girl pinched her brow and sighed with a sense of pity for his misfortune. "Normal people are unwilling to admit their mistakes, but only this shameless Cheng Feiyu can treat apologizing as such a casual means."
"Don't mention it. I only act like this in front of you. Because the gentle and tolerant Teacher Shen wouldn't wrong anyone. If I'm really wrong, then my apology is fine. If I'm not wrong, then my apology is also fine." The boy looked at her face and became quite smug.
"Here comes another ridiculous sweet talk. It sounds nice, but Cheng Feiyu apologizes without hesitation, and he'll be just as unrepentant next time." The girl glared at him, clearly indignant.
"Well, that's another story. What are you doing, little cutie? Studying the orbit of a binary star?" The boy peeked at the sketch she was drawing on the paper.
"Hmm." Shen Xi nodded subconsciously, then looked at him again, puzzled, "So what is this flying fish doing swimming over here?"
"I missed you, so I came over to chat with you and see if you had anything you wanted to talk to me about." The boy said with an air of matter-of-fact.
"If Cheng Feiyu has nothing to do, he can go soak in a hot spring. It must be very comfortable for aquatic mammals." The girl lowered her head to do calculations, not looking at him.
"You're not still bothered by Zhou Han asking me to go to the hot springs with you, are you? I already refused." The boy leaned forward, getting closer to her.
"Heh, you refused, but she actually dared to make such a request. Cheng Feiyu is truly irresistible." The girl remained motionless, her eyes narrowing slightly, her face showing displeasure.
"There's nothing we can do about it. She seems to be drunk. Your Majesty, with your boundless wisdom, please don't take it to heart, okay?" Because they were so close, the young man gazed at her profile, which was almost touching his face, and smelled the faint fragrance emanating from her hair.
"I didn't really care," the girl said in a muffled voice, not looking at him.
"Yes, yes, my little darling definitely hasn't come back and has been secretly sulking over there until now." The boy nodded with a smile.
"Shut up." The girl was a little annoyed.
"Speaking of which, Lin Xuanqi is coming tomorrow. You don't mind if I sleep with the little cutie again tonight, right?" The boy then looked at her, resting his chin on his hand.
The girl glanced at the boy out of the corner of her eye, her expression unchanged, "Why don't you go and sleep with Ye Shuang? That way, if that Lin guy comes, it'll be easier for him to escape back to his rat's den."
"But that's only if she's willing to let me hug her..." the boy muttered.
"What did you say?" The girl looked up, her eyes narrowing.
"It's nothing. By the way, how's Professor Shen's research going? How about we discuss the dual-body world issue together before bed?" The boy's expression turned serious as he examined her sketch with a meticulous look.
"Ye Shuang is willing to keep your secret, so I thought your relationship with her had already become like that of a vixen." Shen Xi gave a meaningful sneer.
"So this is what you wanted to ask after all this time? You really are my little darling." The boy shook his head and sighed.
Ye Shuang has already told him about it.
"Tell me honestly, what is it that you asked her to keep secret?" The girl raised her chin and looked at the boy, her tone leaving no room for argument.
"It's a secret." The boy met her gaze without hesitation.
"I need to know." The girl stared intently into the boy's eyes.
"Of course I can't tell you the secret," the boy smiled.
"She can know but I can't?" The girl frowned slightly, her voice becoming displeased.
"It doesn't matter if she finds out. Teacher Shen's little brain works too fast; it's best if she doesn't know." The boy said sincerely.
If Shen Xi saw the three-pointed dagger, who knows what she would imagine?
The girl bit her lip and turned her face away, her eyes flickering. Suddenly, she took a deep breath, grabbed his sleeve, and lowered her head, her expression inscrutable. She opened her mouth and spoke softly in a trembling voice, her tone strained, "Trash, am I really your... little cutie?"
826. Shen Xi is in a hurry.
