"Do you remember why we first came to this dim sum restaurant?"
"Is Cheng Feiyu testing my memory?" The girl looked up, her face showing displeasure.
"That's not what I meant. I was just remarking that back then we were still arguing about the authenticity of the corridor, and now we've found the Protoss research station in another dimension, although this research station doesn't seem to be of much use." The boy smacked his lips.
The girl scoffed, "Cheng Feiyu actually remembers her foolish opinion from back then. I thought she would selectively forget it."
"I just think what you're saying is too far-fetched from a realistic point of view. Besides, isn't selective amnesia your specialty?" The boy squinted.
"Sophistry and slander are pointless. Also, let me remind you, your current belief that the research station is useless is just like your initial disbelief in my judgment—a narrow-minded and flawed conclusion." The girl said coldly, without even looking at him.
“Yes, it’s wrong of me to question the goddess of wisdom’s choice.” The boy nodded without hesitation, then paused, “So, Shen Xi.”
"what?"
"What's the thing you regret the most?" the boy asked, looking at her beautiful profile.
"Sorry, I've said it before, I'm the kind of person who never regrets things." The girl tossed her hair with a cold expression.
The boy froze, peering into her pure, dark eyes. "Teacher Shen, we were talking so well the morning before yesterday, why are you turning your back on me now?"
"No one here turns their back on you." The girl turned her face away expressionlessly.
"What happened to our promise to exchange answers?" The boy continued to peer into her field of vision.
"And nobody told you about exchanging answers." The girl scoffed and turned her face away.
"Shen Xi, don't take advantage of my pampering to do whatever you want. Please be a decent human being, even though you might not be human to begin with." The boy continued to stare at her, unable to help but sigh.
The girl turned her face away again, her lips twitching slightly, before she spoke coldly and expressionlessly, "Please get this straight. First of all, I said 'it depends on the situation.' Secondly, my answer is that I never regret anything. I never expressed any regrets. If you've misunderstood something, it's none of my business. Also, Cheng Feiyu's honest admission of her mistake is somewhat commendable. Now that you know you made a big mistake by inexplicably provoking that Lin, break up with her as soon as possible to make amends and don't disappoint me."
The boy looked at her, hesitant to speak, "Shen Xi, listen to your own speech! You couldn't help but laugh just now, could you?"
"Cheng Feiyu's hallucination. Nobody's laughing here." The girl kept her face turned away, refusing to look at him. Her small face was tense and cold as ice.
The boy was silent for a second, then shook his head and sighed, no longer staring at her. "If you don't want to talk about it, that's fine. Anyway, I'm not the one who rushed over early in the morning wanting to confess my feelings. I just happened to be interrupted by Lin Xuanqi. As long as you have a clear conscience, it's okay to be stubborn like this for the rest of your life. I'll spoil you."
As soon as they finished speaking, they embraced like any other intimate couple, and the air between them became quiet, as if an invisible film separated them from the noisy street and dragged them into another dimension.
Shen Xi's eyes flickered. She first observed the nonchalant boy out of the corner of her eye, then gritted her teeth and remained silent for a second. Suddenly, she raised her small foot in her uniform shoes and kicked him lightly. She took a deep breath, her flat chest heaving as she sneered, "You know you were interrupted by that Lin girl. Anyway, some scoundrels have been inseparable from her for two days straight, and they don't seem to care much about my answer. If I keep talking nonsense, I'll probably just be asking for trouble."
Cheng Fei looked at her, meeting her pure, dark eyes, and caught some indescribable emotions within them. He was filled with surprise and uncertainty. "Teacher Shen, could it be that you've been wanting to talk to me these past two days but haven't been able to find an opportunity, so you've become angry out of embarrassment?"
"Cheng Feiyu, stop being so presumptuous. Nobody here wants to talk to you!" the girl said angrily, raising her voice.
"Teacher Shen, although it's kind of cute to see me secretly watching you like a little animal, wanting to talk but unable to and sulking, I don't want to either. Lin Xuanqi got provoked by you and has been clinging to me like crazy these past two days, I can't shake her off." The boy looked helpless.
The girl gritted her teeth, turned her face away, and gave a cold laugh. "Well, congratulations, Cheng Fei. The heiress of the Lin family is so devoted to you. You've already succeeded. Why don't you stop here and go enjoy the decadent life of a tycoon?"
"Don't be like that, little cutie. Although she is being too nice to me now and says she regrets bullying me in the past, I'm definitely not swayed by her sweet talk." Cheng Fei put his arm around the girl's shoulder.
"Ha, I hope so." The girl frowned, her face still annoyed. "That sounds nice, but when I saw some scoundrels applying sunscreen to that Lin girl and touching her all over, it wasn't like that at all."
"Teacher Shen, you said you were going swimming, but you were actually hiding somewhere to monitor me?" the boy exclaimed in shock.
"Stop spouting nonsense! I just happened to see it by accident!" The girl glared at him fiercely.
“That makes sense. After all, with Her Majesty the Empress’s power, she can scan the entire planet with just a glance. Of course, such trivial matters wouldn’t escape her notice.” The boy agreed earnestly.
"Shut up!" The girl kicked him again.
The two walked and talked, and then sat down at a familiar dim sum restaurant to have dinner.
"Little cutie, so now you can tell me, right? The thing you regret the most." Cheng Fei slurped up a mouthful of his favorite stir-fried beef noodles.
"I don't want to talk about it." Shen Xi lowered her eyes and didn't look at him. She parted her lips slightly and bit off half of her favorite shrimp dumpling, her cheeks puffing out slightly.
"Okay, it's fine if you don't want to tell me, I can guess anyway. I just want to hear you say it yourself if possible." The boy snatched the half-eaten shrimp dumpling she had eaten with lightning speed and put it to his own mouth.
The girl's vision blurred for a moment, and when she came to her senses, she found that her food was on the other side. She stared at him without saying a word, releasing a chilling aura that seemed to be tangible.
Cheng Fei threw the shrimp dumpling directly into his mouth, chewed it, and swallowed it.
Shen Xi's eyes widened slightly, her small face showing disbelief, "Cheng Fei?!"
"Why are you being so fierce? Can't I even have a bite? Here, I'll trade with you." The boy picked up a slice of beef and gave it to her.
The girl took a deep breath, as if suppressing her anger, "How do you know what I regret most?"
"There's no need to go into the obvious, although you always stubbornly insist that you never regret it," the young man said casually, picking up a caramel macchiato placed between them and taking a sip.
The girl opened her mouth but didn't refute. She lowered her head to eat the shrimp dumplings, then picked up the drink that the boy had just put down and took a sip. Her delicate eyebrows furrowed slightly as she seemed to be deep in thought.
Cheng Fei smiled as he watched her small face, and when the girl looked up at him with displeasure, he said, "Teacher Shen, I have a question."
"what?"
"Was wearing a swimsuit this time intentional? To provoke Lin Xuanqi?"
"Heh, Cheng Feiyu is indulging in wishful thinking again." The girl subtly shifted her gaze away.
"Her Highness's swimsuit is also very beautiful," the boy said casually.
"Shut up." The girl narrowed her eyes slightly.
"Are you shy?" the boy asked, observing her.
"It's a self-evident fact, no need for further explanation." The girl turned her face away and tossed her hair.
"Sigh, what a narcissistic little cutie." The boy shook his head and sighed.
“Cheng Fei.” Shen Xi suddenly raised her chin to look at him.
"what?"
"Is it satisfying to make that guy surnamed Lin so weak he can't even walk properly?" The girl's expression turned cold.
The boy froze, "Uh, Ms. Shen, Lin Xuanqi isn't feeling well..."
"I've never heard that she's in poor health," the girl interrupted bluntly.
"Alright, I'm sorry, but this is a necessary measure to deal with her. Please don't pursue it further. In the future, Your Highness will enjoy the same treatment every day." The boy lowered his head honestly.
The girl's expression changed, and without hesitation, she struck him under the table. "Don't talk nonsense. Nobody here thinks that kind of thing is enjoyable. If you dare to do anything reckless, I will never forgive you."
“Teacher Shen, what I’m talking about is that after we get married, you, as my wife, can’t just…” The boy looked at her extremely disgusted little face.
"Shut up!" The girl's eyes lost focus and became empty.
"Okay, let's get serious."
"what?"
"Next time, Ms. Shen, how about you wear a swimsuit again so I can apply sunscreen?" the boy said earnestly.
"I've said it before, I never get tanned, I don't need that kind of stuff." The girl glared at him.
"Teacher Shen, applying sunscreen isn't just about that; more importantly..."
"Shut up." The girl's eyes became empty again. "Don't even think about taking this opportunity to satisfy your filthy and depraved desires."
"Teacher Shen, is it really necessary to be so strict?" the boy asked, looking at her.
"I told you to shut up! You're still entangled with that Lin guy and you still dare to ask such a question? You're simply lawless." The girl's face was terrifyingly cold.
"Yes, I have overstepped my bounds." The boy lowered his head honestly and then focused on finishing his food.
After a while, Cheng Fei's phone vibrated. He was gnawing on a chicken foot while looking at the screen, typing nonstop with one hand.
Shen Xi put the tiramisu in her mouth, and when she caught a glimpse of this scene out of the corner of her eye, a subtle displeasure appeared on her face. She kicked him under the table, "Trash, what are you doing?"
"It's nothing." The boy put down his phone and looked up. "Speaking of which, Teacher Shen, let's get serious."
"What?" The girl's eyes widened in alarm.
"What's with this feeling of being so heavily guarded? This time it's really serious." The boy sighed. "If those players inside the Roots are Avalanche, then Avalanche made the crash site a dungeon to make it easier for themselves to pass through, right?"
“That’s possible.” Shen Xi nodded, rubbing her chin, her eyes fixed on his phone.
Cheng Fei continued typing on his phone, saying, "Then do you think the avalanche might also be targeting the research station?"
"Maybe." The girl narrowed her eyes slightly, vaguely seeing him chatting with someone on WeChat, which made her even more annoyed.
“It probably wasn’t easy for them to conduct an investigation. Now that the operation has failed, what do you think they will do next?” The boy didn’t even look up and simply started typing with both hands.
Shen Xi's eyelids twitched, her delicate brows furrowed slightly, she took a deep breath, her flat chest heaving, and said coldly, "Either start over, or give up for now."
"What a coincidence, I think so too." The boy nodded perfunctorily and continued chatting on WeChat.
"Cheng Fei," the girl said softly.
"Huh?" The boy remained unmoved.
"Look at me." The girl gritted her teeth and kicked him hard under the table.
"What's wrong, Your Highness?" The young man's expression hardened as he looked up at her.
"Give me your phone." Shen Xi stretched out her small hand expressionlessly.
"Okay, but can we do it later?" the boy asked cautiously.
"Now." The girl's voice was soft, yet it carried an undeniable sense of pressure.
"Yes." Cheng Fei handed over the phone with both hands.
Shen Xi skillfully entered her lock screen password, opened WeChat, saw the unread message labeled "Reporter Tang," and clicked on it with a cold laugh.
"Mr. Cheng, did you enjoy the corridor we mentioned before?"
I tried it briefly.
"What are your thoughts?"
"It's amazing how realistic the game is."
"How about we hang out sometime if you're interested?"
"That's possible, but why?"
"Just killing time. My work has just come to a close recently, but of course, if Mr. Cheng is too busy, then forget it."
"Okay, I'm free tomorrow afternoon."
"See you in the corridor then?"
See you in the corridor
After reading the chat history, Shen Xi frowned and fell into deep thought.
"Little cutie, are you satisfied?" Cheng Fei smiled at her.
793. Shen Xi's disguise
"Not satisfied." Shen Xi turned her face away, her eyes narrowing slightly.
"Little cutie, you want to eat tiramisu too?" Cheng Fei asked in surprise.
"First of all, no one here is jealous." The girl took a deep breath.
"I didn't say you were jealous, I meant eating tiramisu."
"Secondly, if you dare to use other words to replace jealousy and keep grumbling over there, you might as well die!" The girl raised her voice, feeling that she could no longer bear it, and hit him under the table.
"I was wrong." The boy immediately became honest, then paused. "So what are you dissatisfied with?"
"Why didn't you arrange to meet her tonight?" the girl asked coldly, staring at him.
"We have a regular meeting tonight, so time is limited," the boy said seriously.
The girl opened her mouth, as if she wanted to argue subconsciously, but then lowered her eyes, pinched her brow, and sighed, "Then I'll go see her with you tomorrow."
"So you're being so cautious, you were actually eating tiramisu?" The boy observed her face.
"Cheng Fei!" The girl gritted her teeth and delivered another blow to him.
After they finished eating, the two left the dim sum restaurant.
When they reached the traffic light intersection, Shen Xi suddenly stopped, looked around expressionlessly, and seemed to be deep in thought.
"What's wrong?" Cheng Fei asked, looking at her.
"Let's go to your place." The girl raised her chin and looked towards the direction of the boy's rented room.
