No one noticed that a boy had jumped from the upper deck and disappeared into the icy water.

Looking directly at the dark, endless sea evokes a primal sense of fear.

Cheng Fei stretched his arms forward, kicked his legs vertically downwards, and dived like a cormorant fishing, scanning the underwater area with his eyes wide open.

The boy was in a state of time zero, and everything in his sight was frozen in time. Various kinds of debris that had fallen from the cruise ship were suspended in the water, making him feel as if he were in another bizarre dimension.

In a place where sunlight could barely reach, a girl in an apricot-colored trench coat floated silently, the crimson liquid on her chest almost dried up, her beautiful face was bloodless, her lips were pale, her eyes were slightly closed, and she was as peaceful as if she were asleep.

The boy swam toward her with all his might, grabbed her small, limp hand, and felt that her palm was devoid of any warmth.

Above the deep trenches of the Macquarie Ridge, the boy held the girl's cold body tightly and shouted in her ear.

"Ye Shuang—"

"Don't die!"

[Bottled Word of Power - Don't Die: A spell encapsulated by Corridor Technology. It is said that shouting the incantation can bring someone back from the brink of death. Limited to once per day.]

The runes in the quartz bottle suddenly exploded, turning into countless streams of light that flowed into the girl's body, illuminating the dim world for a moment.

The bubbles escaped from the boy's mouth, desperately trying to rise.

The boy embraced the girl, rising faster than the bubbles.

On the sea, the waves, seemingly existing since time immemorial, continued to crash against each other, while the mountain-like steel behemoth gradually sank.

The shadowy figure rapidly enlarged underwater, like a dolphin leaping out of the water, as the boy, carrying the girl, rushed onto a drifting empty life raft.

Ye Shuang's face was deathly pale, devoid of any life, with only a faint pulse proving that she was still alive.

A vial of medicine, identical in appearance to the healing potion in the corridor, appeared in the boy's hand. He unbuttoned Ye Shuang's collar and pressed it against her slender neck without hesitation.

As the green liquid was injected into her body, it was as if a miracle had occurred. Pink buds grew from the wound on the girl's chest, a bright yellow bullet was pushed out, and her skin healed at a speed visible to the naked eye. Apart from the small hole in her clothes and the remaining bloodstains, no trace was left.

The girl closed her eyes tightly, then gasped for breath for a moment before her breathing became even.

Cheng Fei checked her breathing, took off all her wet clothes, took out the cold-weather suit provided on the life raft and put it on her, then wrapped her in an insulated blanket.

After doing all that, the boy breathed a sigh of relief, found the emergency food on the life raft, ate half a compressed biscuit haphazardly, lay down next to the girl, and blinked as he looked at the orange sunshade of the life raft.

The hexagonal life raft drifted on the sea, unknowingly moving away from the sinking cruise ship. The air became quiet, with only the sound of the waves echoing in the air.

In this atmosphere, the telephone suddenly rang at an inopportune moment.

Cheng Fei paused for a moment, then pulled out a satellite phone from his pocket. He stared at the screen for a while, hesitated, then answered the call and put it to his ear without saying a word.

"Is it over? Black Shark will arrive at your location in ten minutes." A muffled voice came from the other end.

Cheng Fei's expression changed, and he immediately hung up the phone, throwing the satellite phone he had found on Ding Sheng with all his might.

Waterproof electronic devices fell into the sea and disappeared.

The boy started the raft and paddled it in the opposite direction, speeding away from the area like a speedboat.

Once he had rowed far enough, he shaded his eyes with his hand, staring intently in the direction he had just been.

A gray-black unmanned catamaran-shaped vessel, without a deck or portholes and without any flags, emerged from the sea and roamed around the area where the satellite phone had fallen into the water, as if searching for something, seemingly oblivious to the sunken cruise ship not far away.

Cheng Fei lay on the gunwale, only half his head showing, observing the strange unmanned boat. He held his breath, preparing to drag the entire life raft into the system dimension.

After a period of time, the unmanned boat gradually drifted away and sank, disappearing from the sea surface.

The boy kept a watchful eye on the underwater area for a long time before returning to Ye Shuang's side.

The girl with her long, black hair showed no signs of waking up; only her face had regained some color, making her look barely alive.

Cheng Fei gazed at that pretty little face, remained silent, pondered, and then moved above her.

"Ye Xiaoshuang, I saved your life, you should at least repay me, right?" the boy murmured to himself.

The girl remained motionless and unresponsive, like Sleeping Beauty in a fairy tale.

The young man gently stroked her cheek, then slowly leaned down and pressed his face against hers.

Even mixed with the salty seawater, the girl's scent still had an indescribable fragrance, and the delicate touch of her petals was intoxicating.

The boy went deeper, as if he wanted to possess her completely.

The Aurora finally sank into the trench, creating a turbulent whirlpool that sucked in all sorts of debris from the surrounding area. Fortunately, all manned ships had already moved far away from that area.

The survivors watched the massive cruise ship disappear into the sea, exchanging glances, still shaken.

A life raft, separated from the group, carrying only two passengers, drifted alone on the sea, as if a romantic atmosphere emanated from it.

At some point, the girl's fingertips trembled slightly as she allowed herself to be manipulated, but she remained with her eyes closed and did not move.

The boy, focused on completing the task, was unaware of this.

499. Ye Shuang remembers everything.

Just like after a good night's sleep over the weekend, Ye Shuang felt a light and comfortable sensation all over her body as she opened her eyes while wearing a hospital gown.

Before her eyes was an unfamiliar white ceiling, and in her ears came a regular beeping sound. The girl turned her head and saw the lines of the electrocardiogram monitor moving up and down.

The excruciating phantom pain flashed by, and the girl touched her chest as if she had been electrocuted, but found no signs of injury.

Her pupils contracted.

How can it be?

She remembers clearly that when she fell into the water and struggled, several bullets came flying at her. She managed to dodge a few, but the last one hit her squarely in the chest.

She choked on water, lost blood, and sank deeper and deeper into the icy blue sea…

Painful memories of near-death overwhelmed her like a tidal wave, and an indescribable feeling of suffocation surged into her heart.

She should be dead.

How did she survive?

More hazy memories surfaced in her mind, and the boy's underwater shouts seemed to ring out in her ears like a thousand great bells.

"Ye Shuang—"

"Don't die!"

The shout was uttered with all its might, hoarse and desperate, as if it were the last breath left in its lungs. It was like a desperate plea to hold onto a beloved who was about to pass away, and also like an emperor's unquestionable command, before which even death had to submit.

The girl stared blankly at the ceiling, and crystal tears, seemingly appearing out of nowhere, rolled down onto the pillow and disappeared.

The door opened, and a relaxed-looking young man walked in with his hands in his pockets. His gaze fell on the girl who had just opened her eyes on the bed, and he looked on with surprise. "Good morning, Master Ye?"

The girl tilted her head and blinked, watching the boy come to her bedside, put his hands in his pockets, and lean down to examine her.

"How long have I been asleep?" The girl looked down at the boy, her heart suddenly trembling. She felt that she had forgotten something important, and her brows furrowed slightly.

"We spent a day and a night in a hospital in New Zealand," the boy smiled.

“You…” The girl stared at the boy’s face, her brows furrowing more and more tightly.

"What's wrong?" the boy asked nonchalantly.

The girl frowned, as if she had remembered something, something... bad.

My cheeks were pinched, and they greedily sucked every last bit of flesh, making even the back of my tongue feel numb...

"Is there anything that's bothering you?" the boy asked, looking at her.

The girl's eyes flickered rapidly. "How...how come the wound on my chest is gone?"

"Injury? What injury?" The boy's surprise seemed genuine.

"I fell into the water and got shot, how come I'm completely unharmed?" The girl's tone was inexplicably anxious.

"Shot? No way? You were fine when I pulled you out of the water, you just choked on some water." The boy looked bewildered.

"How could that be? Don't try to fool me, I remember everything!" The girl suddenly became agitated.

"What do you remember?" The boy was stunned.

“I remember you…” The girl glared at him first, then looked away, her voice softening, “I remember I was the one who was shot.”

"Master Ye, did you hallucinate because you were short of oxygen? Feel your body and see if you have any injuries." The boy became worried.

"So you touched me!" the girl gritted her teeth.

"I didn't. The nurses changed your clothes." The boy raised his hands in surrender.

"You!" The girl stared intently at the serious-looking boy, her eyes reddening and her gaze trembling.

"Me? What happened to me?" the boy asked cautiously.

"What about Ding Sheng?" The girl took a deep breath and turned her face away.

"Of course I took him down," the boy said, shrugging.

"Impossible! How could you possibly beat him?" the girl said firmly, seeing the boy as nothing but a lie.

"I couldn't beat you at first, but I was worried when I saw you fall into the sea. To save you, my inner power exploded. My Time Zero might be as fast as your Platinum Star now." The boy looked into her eyes and said casually.

The girl opened her mouth.

"Master Ye, so are you feeling unwell right now? The doctor said you're very healthy. If you're alright, can we go home now? Or do you want to take another nap?" the boy asked earnestly.

The girl gazed out the window and fell silent.

"Master Ye? Is he asleep?"

"Cheng Fei." The girl turned around.

"what?"

"Why are you doing this to me?" the girl whispered.

"How did I treat you? Master Ye, what's wrong with you? Should we go to the psychiatric ward later? I feel like you have some kind of psychological trauma." The boy rubbed his chin, thinking.

The girl stared intently at his face, a feeling of indescribable sorrow spreading through her heart.

……

Ye Shuang was eventually discharged from the hospital. The insurance compensation for the shipwreck was handled by a specialist, and the two returned to Academy City on a Gulfstream business jet.

On the plane, the boy and girl sat facing each other.

“Xuanqi was right after all. If it weren’t for me, Master Ye, you would have been in grave danger this time.” Cheng Fei shook his head and sighed.

Ye Shuang frowned slightly and remained silent, not looking at him, seemingly lost in thought. The girl had maintained this state ever since she left the hospital.

“Speaking of Ding Sheng, should we tell Xuan Qi about it when we get back? It seems too bizarre and hard to explain,” Cheng Fei said to himself.

Ye Shuang stared at the floor, her expression complex, as if it contained some kind of world problem that was causing her great distress.

"Master Ye, what are you daydreaming about?" The boy suddenly waved his hand in front of her eyes. "You're not sad that your comic book sank with the cruise ship, are you?"

"Cheng Fei!" Ye Shuang suddenly grabbed the boy's collar and pulled him close, her expression one of uncontrollable rage.

"You think I'm too noisy? You don't have to be like this, do you?" the boy chuckled.

"Tell me the truth! What exactly did you do to me?" The girl gritted her teeth and glared at the boy who was so close to her, her voice filled with an indescribable irritation.

"Master Ye, you're not worried that I'll take advantage of you while you're unconscious, are you?" The boy raised one hand. "Absolutely not, I can swear on Xuanqi's plane... never mind, it's bad luck for us to say such things up there, anyway, no, you can rest assured!"

"How could you not have it?!" The girl's voice trembled with a faint sob.

"Okay, I admit it." The boy shrank back. "When I saved you, I did brush against your... pineapple bun a little, but that was beyond my control."

"Then how exactly did my injury heal?!" the girl shouted, sounding like a ferocious beast facing a cowardly turtle.

“Master Ye, you really didn’t suffer any external injuries. It was all a hallucination from your near-death experience.” The young man said sincerely.

"Impossible! I remember it clearly, why won't you tell the truth?" The girl's small fists clenched and trembled, as if they were about to smash into the boy's face.

The boy glanced sideways, wary that she might actually hit him. "Master Ye, don't get agitated. If all else fails, just pretend I have the superpower to heal wounds?"

"You really have it? How do you use it?" The girl's eyes widened slightly.

"Actually, I don't, but you can pretend I do if you want." The boy shook his head.
