"Sorry, even if there really is a ghost, I'll still kill it if I catch it." Ye Shuang said coldly.

"I've heard similar things before," the boy nodded, as if it were commonplace.

Sure enough, those born with extraordinary abilities are incredibly arrogant.

Ye Shuang stared at the boy with a suspicious look, but quickly lost interest. "Are you done? I'll go back to reading my comics now."

"See? Then I'll look at you."

"Cheng Fei!"

"How about you let me read comics with you?"

"..."

"Master Ye?"

"This is so annoying. Come here, but don't get too close, or don't blame me for taking action."

"Ok."

……

The two stayed at the cat cafe until noon, then went to the buffet restaurant for lunch, where they ran into the Interpol duo.

"You received flowers too? Well, it seems we're all the same." Fu Qian shrugged.

"This is outrageous! We can't let this kind of person get away with it." Wan Haoran's face seemed to scream "I hate evil!"

"Judging from the timing of the exposure, it's very likely that someone on the ship tipped him off. You guys had better recall who you came into contact with," Cheng Fei said, biting into a pineapple bun.

Ye Shuang, who was standing next to him, noticed the round and plump bread in his hand, her brows furrowed slightly and her eyes flickered.

“Only the captain knows our identities. You suspect they’re colluding?” Fu Qian stroked her chin.

"Who knows? Anyway, Ding Sheng had spent many years in Australia." The boy shrugged.

"Understood. We'll share any further findings." Fu Qian nodded.

After watching the two leave, Ye Shuang looked at Cheng Fei, not very happy, "I feel that cooperating with them is a waste of effort, and they can't help at all."

"Having more friends means having more options. Who knows? It won't take much time anyway," Cheng Fei said casually. "Or is it that you, Master Ye, don't want them to come and bother you?"

"Cheng Fei, I'm really going to get angry if you keep saying that." The girl emphasized.

"I'm sorry, I was presumptuous."

……

Meanwhile, on the other side...

The Interpol duo were walking back to their room.

Wan Haoran frowned and said, "Senior sister, I still think those two are very unreliable. Cooperating with them would be a complete waste of effort."

"We'll try anything, even if it's a dead end. It's always better to have a couple more helpers." Fu Qian chewed the gum she had casually picked up after the meal.

"What if they are actually Ding Sheng's accomplices?"

"The headquarters has received a reply; they are indeed the people entrusted by Lin's Bank."

"So what's our next step?"

"Let's just leave it at that. We're on the boat anyway. Once the Interpol Red Notice is officially issued, we'll put him to death as soon as the boat docks. We can just relax for now."

"Senior sister, is it not a good idea to paddle around too much?"

"What's wrong with that? You talk too much, Officer Wan." Fu Qian glanced at her sideways.

"No..." Wan Haoran shrank his neck.

The two chatted casually for a while before returning to their room.

Wan Haoran opened the laptop on the table, and some kind of program was running on it.

"You check the recording from this morning, I'm going to take a nap," Fu Qian said in a tone that sounded like she was ordering her underlings around.

"Understood." Wan Haoran nodded, put on his headphones, and played the audio file on his laptop.

When Fu Qian met with the captain, she impulsively hid a listening device in the captain's cabin. Although Wan Haoran questioned the legality of this behavior, Fu Qian said, "As long as you retrieve the device before disembarking, it's legal." Wan Haoran had nothing to say.

Most of the recordings were meaningless noise or equally meaningless conversations, and the young man used double speed forward as he had the previous two days.

At a certain moment, a piercing sound suddenly rang out. He quickly dragged the progress bar back to normal speed and listened again. Then, his expression changed drastically.

"Senior Sister!"

……

Cheng Fei received the call from Fu Qian while Ye Shuang was taking a nap in her bedroom and reading a book in the living room.

"The captain might be in trouble, you should come and help," the other side said.

So the boy knocked on the door to wake Ye Shuang and quickly went to the captain's cabin on the upper deck.

In the corridor leading to the captain's cabin, the two familiar faces were arguing with the crew.

"Sorry, you can't go in without permission."

"Your captain may be in trouble, do you understand? We need to go in and investigate!"

……

487. The Locked Room Murder Case

Cheng Fei approached the two men arguing with the crew member from behind. "What's going on?"

Fu Qian pulled the boy aside, glanced at the crew member, and whispered to him, "We installed a bug in the captain's cabin. There was a fight inside this morning, so the captain is probably in trouble. But we are illegally bugging, so don't make a fuss."

"I understand." The boy nodded.

Ye Shuang and Wan Haoran glanced sideways at the two whispering to each other.

Cheng Fei returned to Ye Shuang's side and gestured for her to come closer. The girl frowned and cooperated with great reluctance.

The boy relayed the information to her, speaking very close to her. He could smell the unique fragrance of the girl's hair, and his warm breath brushed against her delicate earlobe, causing her to clench her small hands tightly.

Just as the group was exchanging information, the ship's first mate arrived with security guards. Faced with the skeptical first mate, Fu Qian stepped forward to negotiate.

“He said that only two of us can go in from here at most. Who’s coming in with me?” Fu Qian turned to look at Cheng Fei and Ye Shuang.

The boy and girl looked at each other.

"Me," Cheng Fei said.

So Ye Shuang and Wan Haoran stayed outside, while Cheng Fei and Fu Qian followed the first mate through the corridor to the captain's cabin. The first mate was a tall white man. He rang the doorbell and waited for a moment without any response before swiping his card to open the captain's cabin.

The room, which was similar to a guest room, was empty and showed no signs of a struggle. The first mate put his hands on his hips, frowned, and began to search around.

Cheng Fei and Fu Qian had no right to take action; they could only stand by and watch.

……

After some time, under Ye Shuang's watchful eye, Cheng Fei reappeared with a group of people, and the first mate left with the security guards.

"How is it?" the girl immediately went to greet her.

"The person has been confirmed missing; the situation is a bit complicated," the boy shrugged.

"What do you mean?" the girl frowned.

"Let's talk somewhere else," Cheng Fei said, exchanging glances with Fu Qian beside him.

The four moved to Fu Qian and Wan Haoran's room. Cheng Fei spoke first, "Master Ye, in short, we've encountered a locked-room murder case."

"Hmm?" Ye Shuang tilted her head and blinked, as if she couldn't understand.

Fu Qian nodded. "There's no one in the captain's cabin. There are two entrances in total. One is the main entrance we came in through, and the other is a special passage to the bridge. The surveillance footage shows that no one has entered or exited the main entrance since last night. The special passage is locked from the inside."

"What about the monitor in the driver's cab?" Wan Haoran asked quickly.

Fu Qian shrugged. “There was no surveillance in the bridge. At the time of the incident, the cruise ship was on autopilot and the captain was on duty alone. Also, the surveillance footage of the corridor leading to the bridge showed that no one had entered or left after the captain. We didn’t see the captain until the second mate changed shifts at noon. We thought he had gone to rest early.”

"Is it possible to avoid surveillance?" Ye Shuang thought for a moment.

"There's no way to avoid them; they're all right in front of the door." Cheng Fei shook his head.

"If no one is coming in or out, then who is fighting with the captain?" Ye Shuang's eyes widened slightly.

“Master Ye, a ghost,” Cheng Fei said quietly.

"Please be serious at a time like this," the girl said, rolling her eyes at him irritably.

"How about we listen to the recording first?" Cheng Fei rubbed his chin.

Fu Qian gave Wan Haoran a look, and Wan Haoran opened the laptop on the table and played the clip of the incident aloud.

Cheng Fei and Ye Shuang listened intently.

You could hear a faint argument first, followed by the sound of a door opening. After a brief silence, the sounds of a fierce fight broke out, then quickly subsided. Finally, there were some rustling sounds, probably from someone dealing with the body.

Cheng Fei smacked his lips. "It's a pity that the argument at the beginning should have taken place outside, otherwise we could have identified the murderer by his voice."

“Now we can be sure that the murderer is at least someone the captain trusts, otherwise they wouldn’t have entered the captain’s cabin while arguing.” Fu Qian pinched her chin.

Wan Haoran glanced at the two men. "It could be Ding Sheng. If he really colluded with the captain, it could also be a senior officer like the first or second mate. That would be a completely different case and have nothing to do with us."

The air in the room was quiet for a moment.

"Chef Ye, I've booked a cooking class this afternoon, and if I don't go now, I'll be late," Cheng Fei said suddenly after checking the time.

"You?" Ye Shuang frowned, seemingly unable to comprehend his thought process.

"Although I really want to find out who killed the captain, I'm not Conan, and the people on the ship won't let us investigate freely. They'll find their captain themselves if he's missing. There's no use in us worrying, is there?" the boy said sincerely.

Fu Qian nodded, "That makes sense. We have too few clues and no law enforcement power. Let's just wait and see. We'll communicate if we find anything later. Just be careful."

……

Cheng Fei and Ye Shuang said goodbye and headed to the cooking experience class.

The boy glanced sideways at the silent girl with her eyes narrowed, "Master Ye, still thinking about the locked-room murder? You really are single-minded."

"What are you trying to say now?" The girl raised her chin, looking displeased.

"Don't worry about things that don't concern us. Worrying won't help us find out who the murderer is," the boy said casually.

"I think the murderer is most likely Ding Sheng," the girl said with certainty.

"You have this kind of superpower?" The boy raised an eyebrow.

"Don't you think it's too much of a coincidence?"

"It is quite a coincidence. Actually, to be honest, I have other ways to identify the murderer." The boy said calmly.

"What method?" Ye Shuang stared at him.

"I'll tell you if you promise me one thing." The boy looked into the girl's eyes, a hint of ill intent in his eyes.

"What is it?" the girl asked warily.

"Master Ye, what's with this feeling that I'm plotting something against you?"

"I think you're up to no good." The girl frowned.

"Not at all. My request is very simple: you just need to switch to your cheerful, smiling personality and spend the next few days with me on the ship." The boy said earnestly.

"Why should I smile at you? You really do have ulterior motives!" The girl suddenly became angry.

“Master Ye, you’re being reasonable. You smile at everyone at school or elsewhere, but you’re always so fierce to me. It was understandable when we didn’t get along, but you’re still like this now. Do you really hate me that much?”

"I just really hate you," the girl said coldly.

"Really? Look me in the eyes. If it's true, I'm a little sad. I consider you an important friend." The boy gazed at the girl.

Their eyes met, and the girl quickly turned her head away, her face cold. "You deserve it. Don't try to play the victim with me."

“Master Ye, if using the cold personality makes you feel more relaxed, then disregard what I said. It seems this is proof of our good relationship.” The young man stopped looking at her and let out a comfortable sigh of relief.

Ye Shuang's eyes flickered, and after a moment, she said with extreme displeasure, "It's so annoying. It's not that I can't smile at you normally, but I have conditions."
