“Shadow,” the blonde half-elf whispered.
"Who gave you that name? It's so strange."
The blonde half-elf who called himself Shadow lowered his head.
The boy thought for a moment, "I'll call you Xiao An from now on."
The blonde half-elf paused, then responded softly, "Master... I understand."
"Let me give you a bath first, you're all dirty." Cheng Fei's gaze swept over her bare little feet, and he simply picked her up in a princess carry, which made An Ying bury her little head deeply.
The boy walked two streets to find a house and paid a silver coin to have the old woman help him wash her clean.
They then took her to a nearby tailor shop and got her a well-fitting corset and a coarse cloth dress. Her innocent little feet were adorned with cloth shoes, and finally, a headscarf was tied around her blonde hair, making her look like an exceptionally beautiful commoner girl.
The boy then took her to a bakery and bought two expensive wheat breads, giving one of them to her.
The blonde half-elf stared wide-eyed at the bread in his hand, then opened his small mouth and took a bite.
The boy watched her take a couple of bites before nodding in satisfaction. He picked up his own, took a bite, and his expression changed. "Damn, this is awful. Here, take it."
The golden-haired half-elf looked at the two loaves of bread in his arms and blinked his wine-red eyes.
After doing all that, Cheng Fei took her back to the workshop.
Considering that Shadow was probably starving in the hands of the slave traders, the boy decided to use the leftover ingredients he had given to Leia to make two dishes, since he thought the so-called wheat bread was really awful.
He went into the kitchen, placed the blonde half-elf on the stool where Shen Xi had been sitting, and then focused on his work.
The boy spent some time preparing a plate of scrambled eggs with onions and egg and cabbage soup with limited ingredients. Although the seasonings were only a pitiful amount of butter, coarse salt, sugar and herbs, it still smelled and tasted pretty good.
Cheng Fei nodded in satisfaction, then turned around, looking surprised.
Shadow remained seated on the stool, his wine-red eyes fixed on the boy, his doll-like face tilted to one side, his small lips slightly parted.
Without anyone noticing, she braced herself with one hand behind her back, and with the other hand pulled her coarse cloth dress, which covered her ankles, down to her knees.
It must be admitted that half-elves, as the product of the union of humans and elves, inherited the beautiful appearance of elves in their youthful form.
After being washed, the blonde half-elf's petite body had skin as delicate as milk. Dressed in simple, clean clothes, her slender, delicate legs, though casually exposed, already exuded a strange, alluring attraction.
Her petite, doll-like figure and innocent, youthful face gave off an air of complete vulnerability. Leaning slightly back, she adopted a coquettish posture with her legs turned inward and together, as if intentionally or unintentionally. If someone with certain peculiar tastes were to see her, they might be tempted to grasp those seemingly powerless, white, slender legs and explore deeper beneath the rough fabric of her dress.
Shadow sat on the stool, dappled sunlight streaming in from the dim window high above, caressing her delicate, beautiful legs, making her seem like a little angel fallen to earth.
351. Little Dark uses a crouching defense with her hands covering her head.
The silent eye contact lasted for a moment before Cheng Fei stepped toward the small figure.
The blonde half-elf remained motionless, her somewhat blank face seemingly unresponsive to any treatment.
The boy came to her, bent down to her petite body, and embraced her slender waist, which seemed so delicate that it would break if he exerted even the slightest force.
The blonde half-elf first curled the corners of his mouth into a smile, then his pupils contracted.
The boy grabbed her hand, which was hidden behind her back, and a small knife that should have been on the kitchen counter was now tightly gripped by that seemingly harmless little hand.
The blonde half-elf's wine-red eyes widened, her expression turning fierce, as if a docile stray cat had just bared its fangs. She chanted softly, and mysterious blue runes appeared in the air.
Cheng Fei remained expressionless, gripping her fragile wrist and lifting it up tightly.
The blonde half-elf's small body was forcibly lifted up, and the runes vanished into nothingness due to the pain.
Her slender eyebrows twitched uncontrollably, and she squinted her eyes, letting out a painful gasp, "Master... Xiao An was wrong."
Cheng Fei ruthlessly pried open her slender, weak fingers, took the knife, pressed her back onto the stool, and said in an extremely calm tone, "Although I don't know how you killed the previous buyer, you couldn't possibly kill me. Give up."
After saying that, the boy turned and went to serve the dishes.
The blond half-elf stared at the boy's retreating figure, his expression shifting between light and shadow.
When the boy returned to the kitchen, his small, agile figure suddenly darted out from a dark corner and pounced on him.
The blonde half-elf's delicate face was contorted with rage as she swung her enchanted dagger, enveloped in blue light, and yelled, "Die!"
Just before the knife touched the boy, his figure suddenly became blurry.
When Shadow came to his senses, he realized that his all-out swing with the Lightness spell had missed.
"Too slow," the boy's voice came from behind her.
The blonde half-elf's dazed expression suddenly changed. Runes lit up his palm as he swung his hand back, compressing and distorting the air with a violent shockwave. At the same time, the enchanted dagger slashed backward and upward.
The knife sliced through the air, and the shockwave shattered a nearby cabinet; her attack missed once again.
"Hmm? You seem to be quite impressive. Most half-elves shouldn't be able to reach this level. But please don't damage public property." The boy's thoughtful voice sounded beside her.
The blonde half-elf's pupils trembled, and her small, delicate body burst forth with incredible speed. Gritting her teeth, she twisted and swung her knife, the blade whistling through the air. "Die!"
As expected, it didn't work out.
"You've got some skills, no wonder you can kill people." The boy clapped behind her.
"Go to hell!" The blond half-elf's eyes widened.
"Again." The boy appeared a few steps away this time, looking at her with an appreciative expression.
"Die!" the golden-haired half-elf roared as he lunged at him.
The boy easily dodged again, saying, "This way."
"Go to hell!"
"This way."
"die!"
"It's this way."
"what!"
"This way."
The two engaged in a one-sided chase in the cramped kitchen, and no matter how hard the blond half-elf tried, he couldn't even touch the hem of the boy's clothes.
A moment later, cold sweat appeared on Shadow's small, smooth forehead, her face lost its color and she became panting, her chest heaving rapidly, her upper body drooping, and her legs trembling uncontrollably, as if just gripping the small knife in her hand had exhausted all her strength.
"For a half-elf, that's already very strong, but isn't that the limit?" Cheng Fei shook his head as he stood in front of her.
"Damn it!" Shadow shouted angrily, forcefully throwing the enchanted dagger in his hand at the boy.
The moment the knife left her hand, the blue light surrounding it faded, and the boy caught it precisely and placed it on the table beside him.
The boy stepped forward and looked down at the unarmed, blond-haired half-elf, his expression hidden in the shadows.
After a brief moment of stunned silence, Shadow suddenly changed his expression, crouching on the ground with his hands behind his head. His wine-red eyes trembled as he whispered, "Master... Shadow was really wrong. Please don't punish Shadow."
The boy smacked his lips and pulled her up. "What's wrong with you?"
"What... what's going on... Little Dark doesn't understand." The blonde half-elf avoided eye contact.
The boy dragged her outside to a spacious, bright area and pressed her down into a chair.
Shadow kept his head down, not daring to meet Cheng Fei's gaze. His expression kept changing. One second he seemed like he wanted to pounce on him and fight him to the death, and the next second he looked pitiful.
"That's enough of this pretense." Cheng Fei pinched her chin, forcing her to raise her head. "I've heard that half-elves often have strange tempers, but I never expected someone like you."
Shadow bit his lip and remained silent for a moment before shouting out in unbearable frustration, "I'd rather die than become a familiar!"
"Why?" the boy asked, looking at her.
Shadow gritted his teeth and remained silent.
"Aren't you afraid of dying?" The boy raised an eyebrow.
He remained silent.
The boy suddenly reached out and touched her unusually slender neck.
"Master, I was wrong!" Shadow immediately covered her head with her hands and curled up into a ball, looking at him with tearful eyes.
Cheng Fei was shocked. "What exactly are you?"
"Master, please don't be angry with Xiao An... Look how pitiful Xiao An is." The golden-haired half-elf said in a trembling voice, slowly raising her skirt to knee height, revealing her slender calves, as if to seduce him.
"You're invincible." The boy slapped himself on the forehead.
"Is Master not satisfied with Little Dark?" The blonde half-elf's voice became even more delicate.
"Sorry, I'm not interested in someone like you who's underdeveloped."
The blonde half-elf's expression darkened, and he lowered his head, his eyes flickering.
"You still want to, you still want to, but you can't kill me no matter how hard you try." The boy stared at her.
The blonde half-elf gritted her teeth quietly, her little hands clenching tightly.
"Forget it, I can't be bothered with what happened to you." Cheng Fei pulled up a chair and sat down in front of her. "Your only option now is to make a deal with me."
Shadow looked up blankly, "...A deal?"
"Be a familiar to me for a few days."
"I absolutely refuse!" the golden-haired half-elf cried out hastily.
"Then I'll set you free."
Shadow's pupils contracted, and he stared at the boy in a daze.
The two stared at each other, wide-eyed.
"Don't you understand?" Cheng Fei looked at her.
"What does freedom mean?" The blonde half-elf stared blankly.
"You can go wherever you want."
Why are you setting me free?
"Just ignore it. All you need to know is that to me you're just a disposable tool bought for seven and a half gold coins. I'll kick you out in a few days, even if you don't leave." The boy looked down at her with an indifferent expression.
The blonde half-elf clutched her head, lowered her gaze, and her eyes flickered, her changing expression suggesting a state of mental confusion. Then she suddenly looked up, "You're trying to lie to me!"
Believe it or not, you don't have a choice anyway.
"Do not believe!"
"If you don't believe me, then go die." The boy grabbed her neck.
Shadow instantly covered his head and shrank back, pleading in a panic, "Master, I was wrong!"
352. The girl is on the run.
"You're so flexible and adaptable; I never imagined there was someone like you in the world," the young man remarked, sizing her up.
The blonde half-elf held his head in his hands, his eyes sparkling.
"Alright, hurry up and eat. If you want freedom, don't think about all this nonsense." Cheng Fei pushed the dishes on the table in front of her.
The moment the complex aroma from the unprecedented cooking method wafted into her nostrils, Shadow's eyes widened, and the hunger from the fierce battle belatedly surged into her mind.
The blond half-elf swallowed hard, examined the food, then looked at Cheng Fei. "I was going to kill you, and you're still giving me food?"
"Stop talking nonsense and eat quickly. In three days, help me deal with a Gold Badge Knight. If you can't beat him, you're as good as dead." The boy said seriously.
Shadow's expression changed, his pupils shrinking to pinpoints. "Master, Shadow doesn't want to die!"
"Eat your fill if you don't want to die."
Shadow quickly lowered his head and used a wooden spoon to scoop the onion and scrambled eggs into his mouth. He was stunned after taking the first bite, and then buried his head in his food even faster.
Cheng Fei watched her small face, which was sometimes blank and sometimes deep in thought, and her expression kept changing. He realized something was wrong.
This half-elf might be a madman.
After Shadow had finished eating, Cheng Fei prepared to leave. "I have something to do, I'll come back tomorrow. You stay here and don't wander off."
