Levi couldn't help but feel suspicious. After much deliberation, he decided that this was a rare opportunity to investigate and should not be wasted.

He had also heard some of the legends about the Southern Continent; mummies might possess strange abilities, and given the connection to the Rose School, he decided to go all out from the start, praying for power from the being in the mirror. If he could obtain the invisibility ability of Sequence 7, this investigation might have unexpected results.

Rivi skillfully slit his chest and smeared the blood on the mirror.

A familiar chill descended, and the reflection in the mirror became unfamiliar, its indifferent gaze fixed directly upon me.

This time, however, Levi vaguely sensed something was amiss: the "self" in the mirror had an unusually deep gaze, and stared at him for much longer than before.

After this long period of observation, Levi received a massive amount of transmitted information, from which he extracted two abilities:

One is the ability to become invisible: one can conceal one's physical form, but cannot eliminate one's spirituality. When fighting against enemies with high spirituality, one may still be discovered.

Another type is mirror magic: it allows one to use mirrors for divination, counter-divination, and spiritual communication, and can also use surrounding mirrors as substitutes.

Both of these abilities come from the Sequence 7 witch.

"I didn't draw any Sequence 6 abilities, and neither of the two abilities are directly usable in combat..."

Levi felt a little uneasy, but then he thought that these two abilities might be more suitable than combat ability in tonight's situation.

Levi first took out a mirror and placed it at the corner of the corridor, so that he could immediately activate the mirror substitute to replace the person in danger.

Then, he took out a new mirror and began to perform a magic mirror divination:

What's in the room?

Rive gathered his spirituality, gently touched the mirror, and patiently waited for the image on the mirror's surface to appear:

A void...

"Is this... a misinterpretation of the divination results?"

Levi's heart sank. After a moment's thought, he tried to perform the divination again:

"The level of danger within the room."

Reeve gently stroked the mirror, and almost instantly, the surface of the mirror rippled violently!

This indicates that the room is extremely dangerous!

Levi gasped and was about to turn and leave when the ripples on the mirror's surface vanished completely.

This means there is no danger in the room.

"What... what's going on? The divination seems to have failed. Could it be that the mummy has the ability to interfere with divination?"

Undeterred, Levi attempted another divination, this time concluding that while there was some danger in the room, it was not severe.

After a moment's thought, Levi decided to go into the room to check the situation. He had already set up many mirrors at the corner of the corridor and around the villa. As long as he wasn't instantly controlled, he could escape using the mirror's ability to stand in his place.

He took a deep breath, confirmed the location of the talisman and weapon in his pocket, and after preparing, began to attempt invisibility:

Levi raised his right hand and, in accordance with the incantation, wiped it across his face, instantly making his features hazy and blurred. His figure began to disappear inch by inch, his outlines as if drawn with a pencil and then completely erased by an eraser.

He looked down and around: his figure had completely disappeared, and he couldn't help but feel satisfied with the invisibility effect.

Once he was ready, Levi began his infiltration. The storeroom had no windows, so he could only enter through the front door. He tentatively turned the doorknob and found that the door was not locked.

Reeve quietly pushed the door open a crack and peered in to observe:

The storage room was quite spacious, but it was completely dark inside, with no lights on except for a faint candle flame flickering on the table at the far end of the room. Two slender figures were leaning over the candle flame, talking in hushed tones, and the air was filled with the faint scent of rose essential oil.

Chapter 90 Eyes in the Mirror

The two figures seemed unaware of his probing. Levi gently closed the door and silently stepped closer.

After walking a few steps, he determined the identities of the two people from their backs:

"Melissa! Elizabeth?! It's both of you!"

Levi was shocked and felt extremely uneasy: he had no confidence in protecting the two girls in a room where there might be mummies.

After careful consideration, Levi decided to first make as little noise as possible—if that didn't work, he would instigate them—to lead the two out of the room, and then conduct a thorough search. The storage room was large, and there were many corners where things could be hidden.

He slowly approached from behind the two of them and deactivated his invisibility:

"Ladies, what are you doing?"

Elizabeth and Melissa turned around almost instantly, about to scream, but fortunately, Levi activated his persuasive ability in time, making himself more approachable, and managed to avoid making too much of a commotion.

"Mr. Lyon, what are you doing here?"

Elizabeth, relieved that she had just escaped, gasped for breath and asked with some confusion.

"I heard some noise in the house and thought there was a thief, so I came in to check. Who would have thought it was the two of you?"

Levi casually made up an excuse and began to observe what the two girls were doing: they had placed three candles on the table, two long and one short, and in the middle of the candles was a small silver mirror, its surface shimmering with a cold luster.

"This is... ritual magic? No, ritual magic isn't this rudimentary, but their setup looks a lot like the ritual described in 'Magic Mirror Magazine'..."

Reeves pondered to himself, feeling somewhat speechless. Emily had mentioned before that Elizabeth was very interested in the occult, but who would have thought that this young girl would actually be so bold as to put it into practice!

Elizabeth asked in surprise:

"Were we making that much noise? Melissa and I were definitely talking in hushed tones."

Reeve nodded and said:

"Yes, you were making a lot of noise, and coincidentally, my hearing is quite sharp, so I could hear you from the hallway."

Under the influence of the instigator's passive ability, Elizabeth believed Revy's dubious words.

Levi then said in a serious tone:

"Ladies, do you know that you are doing something very dangerous?"

Melissa nodded vigorously, her face showing an expression of anticipation for liberation. Clearly, she wasn't interested in this dangerous attempt; Elizabeth was the real 'culprit'.

Elizabeth lowered her head somewhat guiltily and murmured softly:

"But I read in a magazine that as long as you follow the steps, there will be no danger. I'm really curious..."

"In this world, curiosity is the fastest way to commit suicide..."

Reeves thought to himself that not saying those words aloud was a bit too heavy for Elizabeth, a fourteen-year-old girl.

He looked at the mirror that gleamed with a cold light and asked:

"Where have you progressed to?"

He had to make sure that Miss Elizabeth didn't make things too bad.

Elizabeth waved her fingers and said:

"We set up the mirror and candles as the magazine suggested, sprinkled rose petals and essential oils, and then recited the divination prayer. Well, we didn't have time to finish reciting it all; we only recited the two lines, 'The mirror reflects the void, reflecting the other side.'"

Levi's face stiffened slightly: they almost completed the entire procedure, but perhaps they didn't use blood because they were afraid of the pain. Even if the Rune language couldn't communicate with the spirits, going through such a process might have led to some unexpected situations.

He disregarded etiquette, patted the two girls on the back, and pushed them towards the door:

"Now, get out of here quickly. I'll help you clean up the mess. Remember, never do anything so dangerous again."

Elizabeth pouted somewhat reluctantly, but perhaps knowing she was in the wrong, she didn't argue with Reeves. Melissa, who was unwilling to do such things in the first place, nodded repeatedly and obediently walked out.

After seeing the two girls out of the room, Levi gave them a few more instructions. Finally, he suddenly remembered something and asked:

"You were reciting the prayer in Rune, weren't you?"

Levi felt his question was a bit redundant. How could a fourteen-year-old girl who was a poor student understand Hermes? But just in case, he asked anyway.

Upon hearing this, Elizabeth puffed out her chest and proudly declared:

“I recited it in Hermes.”

Upon hearing this, Levi was stunned and froze on the spot.

Elizabeth thought Revy was surprised that she knew Hermes, so she explained:

“I once consulted a history professor who told me that Hermes is a magical language that is widely used in archaeology and mysticism, so I learned some from him.”

Reeves remained silent for several seconds, trying his best to calm his turbulent emotions, before speaking, word by word:

"From now on, please never do such things again, and never use Hermes to recite strange words!"

After saying that, he gestured for the two girls to leave and closed the door.

Elizabeth let out a long breath. Levi had given her a very serious feeling, making her as nervous as if she were facing a teacher at school.

She couldn't help but complain to Melissa beside her:

"Ms. Amy's brother is such a serious person, he's so fierce to us."

Melissa smiled gently:

"I think he's right. We shouldn't do things like that in the future."

Elizabeth's eyes widened, and she asked, somewhat puzzled:

"Melissa, do you believe in the mysticism?"

"I do not believe."

"Then why do you think our actions are dangerous?"

Melissa thought for a moment, then said seriously:

"I don't think there's any danger, I just think it's a waste of time."

Elizabeth: ...

In the storage room, Levi sighed and returned to his desk.

He didn't know if Elizabeth's prayers had any effect, and although the possibility was slim, Reeves still wanted to rule out any potential problems during his search of the house.

He carefully examined the silver-plated ancient mirror. There was nothing unusual about it, nor was it imbued with any spirit. He figured that even if the prayer, which had no specific direction, was recited in Hermes, nothing would happen.

Reeves extinguished the candle, covered the mirror with a black cloth, and left the table with a sense of relief. He held the bone pendant in his hand and began searching along a corner of the storeroom.

However, the moment he turned around, the black cloth covering the mirror fell silently into the still room without a sound.

Immediately afterwards, a pair of deep eyes appeared on the mirror that was gleaming with a cold light.

The eyes stared silently at Rivi’s back, then quickly vanished from the mirror as if they had never been there.

Chapter 91 The Curtain Rises

Levi's spirituality, however, gave no warning and continued searching along one corner of the room.

The bone pendant trembled incessantly, and the intensity of the trembling varied slightly depending on the direction Rivi was moving.

With his extraordinary senses, Levi quickly located the direction from which the pendant was trembling most violently and slowly walked towards that direction.

As he continued to move forward, the pendant trembled more and more violently, almost as if it were beating in his palm. The rapid collisions made Levi's palms feel slightly numb.

Soon, Reeve reached the end of his journey: a pile of wooden crates, some about a meter square, some still painted with numbers in white, as if they had been unloaded from a cargo ship.

As a merchant who imports and exports goods, it is not surprising that such things would appear in Mr. Teyvat's home, but at this moment, Levi felt tense, as if a mummy would jump out of the box and attack him at any moment.

He carefully stood about a meter away from the box, extending only the hand holding the bone pendant.

The bone pendant seemed to come alive, pulsating wildly in Rivi's palm, as if it had come to life!

Levi was sweating profusely, unsure of what to do next.

Opening this box directly seems too reckless. If there's anything dangerous inside, it could easily be attacked.

After a moment's thought, Levi took a few steps back and activated his spiritual vision.

He looked at the boxes stacked together.

…………

The dock area at night.

The Tasok River flowed silently in the night, its daytime hustle and bustle gone, leaving only the deep water lapping against the banks with a dull, rhythmic sound. A few cargo ships were moored ashore, and sailors, carrying lanterns, silently loaded and unloaded cargo in the dim light, the flickering light casting shimmering shadows on the river's surface.

Dunn stood alone at the edge of the dock, his dark gray trench coat fluttering gently in the night breeze. He lowered his eyes, gazing quietly at the river stretching into the darkness, waiting for the last passenger ship of the night to arrive.

Just then, a long whistle sounded in the distance, and a passenger ship, its lights shining dimly, slowly approached and entered the dock.

The boat came to a stop and the footboards were lowered.

A diverse group of passengers disembarked from the ship, most of them looking tired and eager to leave the dock and head to the city to find a place to rest for the night.

Among these travelers, a striking woman stood out. It was Daisy, who had come from the port of Enmat. She wore a black, fitted lantern-sleeved dress, with blue eyeshadow and blush. A silver chain with a white crystal pendant was wrapped around her exposed wrist, giving her an alluring and enchanting beauty.

Dai Li spotted Dunn immediately. She paused slightly, then walked over with her usual calm smile.
