Mystery: The Witch of Desire
Page 27
As soon as Levi finished speaking, Evelyn couldn't help but stand up and praise him loudly, her eyes filled with fervor that contrasted sharply with her cool demeanor.
Xia Lani smiled slightly, her tone gentle:
"So you're from Kingfisher Bar. In that case, we belong to the same group."
As she spoke, her gaze swept casually toward Princeton.
The bandaged man understood immediately and nodded slightly without making a sound.
Levi instantly understood.
“This is to let Princeton verify whether what I said is true... Sharon is not as blindly fanatical as Evelyn, and did not choose to completely believe me.”
However, Reeves wasn't worried about being exposed. Rowling would never betray him, and besides, everything he said corroborated the "fact" that Samira died from contamination.
After Levi finished his story, Sharani didn't press him for more details about the statue. Instead, she casually rambled on about unrelated topics, asking about trivial matters at the Kingfisher Bar, his life before joining the Hyena Gang, and how he became an Extraordinary.
Levi dared not slacken his efforts in the slightest. He carefully considered every answer and cautiously avoided all possible traps. Even though he was already feeling exhausted from the constant tension, he maintained a submissive and devout appearance and ultimately did not reveal any flaws.
After hearing his answer, Xia Lani's smile deepened, her tone remaining gentle and charming:
"Livia, you must be tired too. Go and rest first. You can move around freely in the Riverside Theater and familiarize yourself with the environment. Tomorrow, I will take you to participate in the ritual of offering sacrifices to the Great Master. At that time, you will be able to feel His power even more."
Upon hearing this, Levi couldn't help but secretly grumble to himself:
"The so-called 'freedom of movement within the Riverside Theatre' means that I was not allowed to leave the Riverside Theatre and was under their surveillance the entire time."
He suppressed his inner resistance, bowed slightly in agreement, and pretended to be devout and obedient.
Sharani nodded in satisfaction, said nothing more, and turned to leave first. Princeton followed closely behind, his face still bandaged, his dark eyes sweeping over Levi with undisguised wariness.
Unlike the two, Evelyn took the initiative to move closer and spoke in a cold tone:
“Come on, I’ll show you around the Riverside Theatre. It will help you understand our surroundings.”
Levi nodded, thinking to himself that the evil god was truly terrifying, actually managing to get Evelyn, who seemed extremely aloof, to take him on a tour.
Chapter 51 Deep Within the Theater
Evelyn led Levi through every corner of the Riverside Theatre. The elegantly decorated dining rooms were filled with the lingering aroma of food and a faint scent of wine; the spotless restrooms were steamy; the backstage dressing rooms smelled of cosmetics mixed with the odor of paint. Everything seemed orderly and vibrant, just like a normal theater.
Evelyn led Levi through all the underground passages specifically for emergency escape without any hesitation.
Levi's fingers, hanging by his sides, curled slightly. His face remained impassive, but inwardly he was pondering:
"This Ms. Evelyn doesn't treat me like an outsider at all. Good, I'll memorize all the detailed routes. If I need to find a chance to escape in the future, these routes will be my best support."
He always wore a gentle and submissive expression, following Evelyn with steady steps, etching the location of every corner, every door, and every shadow into his mind.
After exploring the various areas, night fell, enveloping the entire riverside theater. The evening performance officially began, and the audience was even more bustling than during the day, the entire theater immersed in a lively and jubilant atmosphere. Although Levi was in the back, he could still clearly hear the overwhelming cheers, wave after wave.
Evelyn suddenly stopped, and a near-manic fervor surged within her previously cold and stern eyes:
"Next, I will take you to visit the true essence of the Riverside Theatre, the sacred place where we offer our most devout and loyal tribute to our great master!"
Levi's heart skipped a beat; the Riverside Theater was indeed hiding a secret!
He quickly raised his arms high and devoutly shouted:
"Praise be to my Lord! I can't wait to bask in His glory!"
Seeing this, Evelyn's fervor intensified, and she spoke to Reeves in a tone of considerable admiration:
“You are a devout believer.”
After saying that, she led Levi through the winding corridors deep inside the theater with hurried steps. The surrounding light grew dimmer, the walls became more mottled, and the air gradually became murky. Far from the hustle and bustle of the front, only the sound of their footsteps echoed in the empty corridors.
After turning countless corners and descending a long flight of stairs, the two finally arrived at an extremely secluded room. The door was hidden behind a heavy curtain, and it would be difficult to spot without careful searching.
Evelyn reached out and lifted the dark curtain, and a strong, nauseating stench suddenly hit him—a mixture of decay, blood, and earth, so thick it seemed to materialize, instantly filling Levi's nostrils and making his stomach churn.
Levi frowned; he had a premonition that something bad was about to happen behind the door.
Evelyn stood solemnly in the doorway, her eyes filled with fervor and devotion. She placed her hands on her chest and murmured a few prayers before pushing open the door.
The moment he pushed open the door, the sight before him made Levi's pupils shrink—it was a dimly lit basement, with a chilling aura hitting him, and the air filled with a nauseatingly strong smell of blood and decay.
As Evelyn entered, a series of ear-piercing sounds of chains being dragged and clanging echoed in the basement, mixed with extremely suppressed sobs.
Levi looked in the direction of the sound, and his heart suddenly clenched painfully:
Dozens of women were chained to the cold stone wall with heavy iron chains. Their faces were ashen, their bodies crisscrossed with old and new wounds, and their clothes were tattered. Their eyes were empty and unfocused, like soulless puppets, filled only with deep-seated fear and despair. Occasionally, a weak whimper would escape their throats, only to be immediately swallowed back in terror, as if even breathing would invite more cruel torture.
Levi recognized some of them: they were the women from the Kingfisher Bar who had contracted sexually transmitted diseases.
In the corner, a dozen or so lifeless bodies lay sprawled on the ground, their wounds layered upon each other, a horrifying testament to prolonged abuse. The corpses had begun to decompose, and a nauseating stench permeated the cold, damp air. Among them, a body covered in pus-filled buds and oozing pus, was none other than Pinkie Pie, the former top hostess of the Kingfisher Bar.
In the center of the basement stood a table, upon which rested a familiar female statue, only larger than any Levi had seen before. Her silhouette undulated slightly in the shadows, gleaming with a dark luster, as if she hadn't been sculpted, but rather had always been there.
Reeve trembled uncontrollably, a chilling rage and utter shock churning wildly in his chest, threatening to burst it open.
Evelyn excitedly walked up to him, raised her hands, and shouted:
"This is the best gift we can offer to our great master—an abyss of desire! A palace of grace!"
As she spoke, her entire body gathered spiritual energy, unleashing a strange and unsettling power.
Under the influence of this power, all the women in the basement showed expressions of pain. Even the women who were barely breathing had flushed cheeks, mercilessly tormented by uncontrollable desires.
Some of them struggled to get closer to each other, hoping to soothe each other's physical desires, but the chains were carefully designed to confine them to a certain area, just in time to prevent them from touching each other's bodies.
Some were so exhausted that they could not move and could only lie helplessly on the ground, groaning in pain.
All of them could only let their insatiable desires fester endlessly, bringing them endless torment. And all the women's pain and desires became nourishment, absorbed by the female statue, whose surface even shimmered with an eerie red glow.
Levi trembled as he watched the tragedy unfold before him, his body suddenly burning with a desire to reproduce. However, his overwhelming rage suppressed this desire, and all he wanted to do was tear Evelyn to pieces.
At that moment, Evelyn turned around, her face flushed with an eerie blush, her eyes fixed on him with intense intensity:
“Liviel, our great master teaches us that desire is a gift from Him, and only by indulging our desires can we draw closer to His power.”
Evelyn approached slowly, her aura carrying a hint of fervor. Her fingertips lightly brushed against Levi's arm, the icy touch making Levi stiffen.
"Let us satisfy each other's desires; it is a gift and a way for us sisters to be close—by following this instinct, you will feel the Lord's grace."
Levi's heart sank as he understood Evelyn's intention: she had activated the abilities of a sex addict, controlling the desires of everyone in the basement, including himself.
Now, she wants to have sex with herself in front of dozens of tormented women.
"Disgusting cultists."
He quickly began to consider the possibility of escaping after killing Evelyn.
Evelyn had just led him around every corner of the Riverside Theatre, and he was confident that he could find a way to escape as long as he didn't run into Sharon and Princeton.
However, whether or not Evelyn can be killed remains a thorny issue.
Chapter 52 Unrestrained Desire
"Evelyn is a dual-sequence 8 of a sex addict and a demonic pathway, with greatly enhanced physical abilities and a certain level of demonic magic. She's far stronger than me, whose only offensive capability is a pistol. If I don't pray for power from the mirror, I have almost no chance of winning..."
Levi pressed his hand to his chest—where a small bronze mirror was hidden, which he now carried with him like a pistol and a dagger.
He suppressed his disgust, feigning shyness, and turned slightly to avoid her touch, whispering:
"Ms. Evelyn, are we... here?"
Evelyn's expression turned fervent:
"Yes, the desires of these female animals are the best nourishment, capable of sustaining us, and together with our own desires, they are the best gift to offer to our great master!"
Levi, suppressing her anger, nodded slightly, placed her hand on her chest, slowly unbuttoned her skirt, and whispered:
"Okay, could you please turn around first? I'm a little shy."
Evelyn's face burned even more intensely. She slowly turned around, raised her hand to unbutton her clothes, and her snow-white, smooth back was suddenly exposed to the dim air.
While she was undressing, Levi quietly gripped his dagger and slashed his chest. Blood immediately seeped out, and just as he was about to smear it on the mirror, the wooden door behind him suddenly creaked open with a piercing sound—
Princeton walked in, his gaze sweeping coldly over Evelyn, who had taken off her shirt and was now showing her back, before settling on Levi.
Evelyn was abruptly interrupted, and her expression instantly turned cold, her tone filled with undisguised impatience and anger:
What are you doing here?
Princeton ignored her and looked directly at Revy:
"Lady Sharani, please come over."
Levi nodded calmly and tucked the mirror into his pocket without making a sound.
He looked toward Princeton, waiting for the other person to lead the way.
However, Princeton stood still and said:
“She wants you to come over by yourself. She has an item that you once owned, which you can use to sense her location.”
"What did I once possess?"
Levi was filled with doubt, but he forced himself to remain calm and turned to leave the basement.
After he left, Princeton and Evelyn's icy gazes suddenly collided in the air.
Evelyn's snow-white upper body was still exposed, her arms crossed in front of her chest, barely covering half of her body.
A moment later, she slowly lowered her arm, no longer concealing herself, and walked straight toward Princeton.
"Although I am disgusted with you, it does not prevent us from dedicating ourselves to our great master."
Princeton sneered:
"I prefer corpses to you!"
As he spoke, he walked up to a dead woman and unbuckled his belt.
After a while, the chains made a piercing sound.
Evelyn stared at Princeton, who was writhing on the corpse, her eyes burning with lust.
She glanced at her fingers and slowly stretched them down to her lower body.
……
Levi focused intently on sensing the deep, dark underground passage. Before long, a faint yet familiar fluctuation surfaced in his mind—the aura of something he once possessed. However, the fluctuation seemed to be covered by an invisible barrier, deliberately obscured and interfered with, and he was unable to discern what it was.
He followed the faint sense of touch and walked slowly forward, a fleeting thought of escaping flashing through his mind. But then he remembered that Xia Lani must be watching him from the shadows, so he had to suppress the impulse and continue on his way.
After winding through a maze of corridors, Levi finally stopped in front of a hidden door.
Pushing open the door, one is greeted by a bedroom furnished in a secluded and luxurious manner, exuding the owner's cold and enigmatic aura. Heavy curtains shut out the chill of the outside world, and a faint scent of essential oils floats in the air. Sheer curtains hang down on the bed, and Xia Lani lies on her side, her figure appearing and disappearing behind the curtains.
“You’ve come, Livre.”
Xia Lani spoke with a light laugh, her words exuding a charming aura.
“Yes, Lady Sharani,” Levi nodded in response. “Did you need something from me?”
Xia Lani's tone was soft and languid, her nonchalant manner suggesting she was merely chatting about a trivial matter:
"It seems you left something with me."
As she finished speaking, her slender fingers slowly reached through the draped bed curtains, revealing a neatly folded strip of paper between her fingertips. The dim light shone through the thin fabric, illuminating two lines of clearly legible, delicate handwriting.
Levi's heart suddenly clenched, and a chill ran from the soles of her feet straight to the top of her head—it was the note that Ms. Daly had left for her herself, which not only contained the secret address of Blackthorn Security Company, but also her own signature. How could it have fallen into Xia Lani's hands?
What terrified him even more was that he had placed the note left by Ms. Daly together with the report he had written himself, on which the report clearly stated:
"The Riverside Theatre is worshipping an evil god, and a disaster may break out at any time. Please resolve this immediately."
If Xia Lani discovers that letter of denunciation, he will surely face utter destruction.
Fear and despair gripped Levi instantly. His fingers trembled uncontrollably as he stealthily reached into his robes, his fingertips touching the cold edge of the mirror—he wanted to immediately pray to the being in the mirror for power, even if it meant fighting to the death with Sharani, rather than sit idly by and wait for his demise.
But Xia Lani showed no sign of making trouble; in fact, a faint smile played on her lips as she asked in her languid and alluring voice:
"Is this your handwriting? Your handwriting is quite good."
Levi froze, forcibly suppressing the surging fear and panic, and forcing himself to calm down. His gaze was fixed on the note between Sharon's fingers, and he noticed something suspicious: the only note she was holding was the one left by Ms. Daly! His own letter of denunciation, which should have been placed with it, had vanished into thin air.
He instinctively reached into his pocket, but found no trace of the whistleblower letter.
"Did the note get lost? Or is it actually in Xia Lani's hands, and she's just hiding it to fool me and test me, without exposing it yet?"
Countless thoughts raced through his mind, and a layer of cold sweat had seeped down Levi's back, but he dared not show it in the slightest and could only pretend to be calm.
As he looked on with confusion, he met Xia Lani's probing gaze and cautiously addressed her question:
"This is not my handwriting. This note is from a stranger."
