Mystery: The Witch of Desire
Page 100
Extraordinary actions can affect the lives of residents, even the wealthy. No matter how much money they have, they are just lambs to the slaughter in the face of mysterious forces.
Livre sighed and continued to wander around the Halls district a few more times, and indeed obtained information about several banquets that were about to be held—these rich people were so obsessed with banquets that they wished they could hold one or two every week.
However, no gentleman could say whether Mrs. Sharon, the prospective bride, would attend the banquet. Her schedule was very busy, and she would only attend banquets that were of a high enough standard or that she was interested in.
Seeing that she hadn't made much progress, Livre went to Olsna Street, where Mrs. Sharon lived, the area where she was most likely to get accurate intelligence.
She went straight to 38 Olsner Street, where Madame Sharon's luxurious villa was located. It was also the villa of the former Baron Hoy, and Madame Sharon had lived there since his death. Some people even jokingly called it the most upscale brothel in Tingen, and it was common to see nobles, wealthy businessmen, government officials, and members of parliament coming and going.
The current Baron Hoy, Sancher Hoy, lives at 43 Rue Olsner. He is the son of the former Baron Hoy and his ex-wife, and the stepson of Lady Sharon. It is evident that he has a very close relationship with his stepmother; even after inheriting the right of succession and moving away from the old baron's villa, he is unwilling to be too far away from Lady Sharon.
Liviel observed Mrs. Sharon's villa from afar, not daring to approach too closely. The villa was quite grand, comparable in size to Mr. Teyvat's villa, but more exquisite. About fifty meters from the villa, in the grass, Liviel discovered a mirror buried under the hay. Undoubtedly, this was a backup plan set up by Mrs. Sharon; it seemed that all witches had the habit of placing numerous mirrors near their dwellings.
After briefly observing the layout and surroundings of Lady Sharon's house, Livre continued onward, arriving at number 43, the villa of the Sancher Hoy family. This villa, according to royal custom, was slightly smaller than number 38, as a sign of respect for her deceased father.
As she pondered, Livre noticed an exquisitely decorated carriage parked in front of mansion number forty-three. She slowly walked to a bench by the street and sat down, pretending to rest and relax, but her eyes were subtly observing every move inside and outside the mansion.
A moment later, a middle-aged couple dressed in elegant clothes slowly walked out of the house, accompanied by a young man with an ordinary appearance but an air of nobility. This man should be the owner of number 43 - Sancher Hoy.
Sancher Hoy, with a humble smile, bid farewell:
"Then I will await your arrival for the banquet."
The middle-aged couple smiled and nodded in response.
"My husband and I will definitely be there on time for the banquet."
Overhearing a few casual words, Livre already understood that Sancher Hoy was about to host a grand banquet, a banquet hosted by her stepson, and that Mrs. Sharon would most likely attend.
Livre moved swiftly, disappearing without a trace, and slipped into the mansion at number 43. She did not act rashly against Sancher Hoy, fearing that Mrs. Sharon might have planted some kind of surveillance device on her stepson.
She found a lone servant and used her psychic abilities on him:
When will Baron Hoy host the banquet?
The servant responded blankly, his eyes glazed over.
"Scheduled for this Sunday."
Will Mrs. Sharon be there?
"Madam, she will definitely attend. Baron, he is very much looking forward to her arrival..."
Livr smiled slightly:
"Very well, forget it, forget all of this..."
After finishing her questioning, Livre whispered softly, ending the psychic session.
With a quick glance, she noticed a stack of brand-new blank banquet invitations in the servant's bag, and took two of them.
With an invitation readily available, there's no need to use extraordinary abilities to infiltrate, reducing the risk of being discovered by Mrs. Sharon.
After leaving number 43, Livre continued towards Baker Street.
Although she had already achieved her goal, Livre still planned to gather more information about Mrs. Sharon. In case she couldn't find out anything from one banquet, she could attend several more banquets to observe Mrs. Sharon.
Compared to other affluent neighborhoods, the architecture on Baker Street is somewhat plain in design, but it prioritizes size and functionality, with numerous clubs located in the area. These include golf clubs, equestrian clubs, business associations, and ladies' salons.
However, what attracted Liviel's attention the most was the fortune-telling club located at number 13.
The divination already has some mystical elements. I wonder if this club is just for hobbyists or if there's something real going on?
She went in with a bit of interest, and the beautiful receptionist greeted her politely and explained the rules of the fortune-telling club: those who came for a fortune-telling session had to pay a fee according to the members' pricing; if they wanted to officially join the fortune-telling club as members and tell fortunes for others, they had to pay a membership fee of 5 pounds.
Five pounds! Why don't you just rob someone?!
Liviel cursed inwardly, immediately losing most of her interest. She glanced at the members' profiles again, but found nothing of great interest, so she turned to leave.
But then, a man walking hurriedly came to the front desk.
Good morning, Mr. Grassis.
Mr. Grassis answered somewhat hastily:
“Miss Angelica, I would like to have Mr. Klein Moretti's fortune told.”
Livre paused in surprise upon hearing this.
Klein Moretti?
Is he giving fortune readings to others here?
Livre then pretended to be observing the murals in the lobby, pacing back and forth, while secretly listening to Angelica and Grassis's conversation.
“Mr. Moretti’s divination for me last time was very accurate. Although he is only a new member, I would be happy to have him do another divination for me.”
Mr. Grassis seemed quite excited, clearly very satisfied with Klein's divination skills.
Angelica laughed:
"No problem. Mr. Moretti happens to be in the club right now. You can find him in the meeting room on the second floor."
Grassis thanked him and then went upstairs in a hurry.
Livre pretended to have finished admiring the murals and left the fortune teller's club. A little over ten minutes later, she returned to the front desk, disguised as a beautiful and mature woman.
"I'd like to have a shrewd gentleman read my fortune. Do you have any recommendations?"
Angelica handed her the list of fortune tellers and then smiled as she recommended several well-known fortune tellers, but Klein was not among them.
As Livre listened, she flipped through the roster, then asked with some disappointment:
"Are there any younger fortune tellers? Hmm... I'd like to find a young gentleman, perhaps he can better predict what's in my mind."
Do you want someone to tell your fortune or do you want to find a lover?
Angelica muttered a curse under her breath, but maintained a polite smile on her face:
“There’s a Mr. Klein Moretti, who’s just over 20 years old. He’s young, but quite popular. A gentleman who just came in is having his fortune told. Would you be interested?”
Livre feigned a slightly puzzled expression:
“Mr. Klein Moretti? I don’t recall seeing him on the list of diviners.”
Angelica explained with a smile:
"Mr. Moretti has only recently joined the fortune-telling club, and we haven't had time to add his information to the roster yet."
Livre nodded thoughtfully, then a look of keen interest appeared on her face:
"In that case, after that gentleman finishes his divination, may I go to Mr. Moretti for his own divination?"
Angelica maintained her polite smile.
“Of course, I believe Mr. Moretti will be very happy to see himself so popular.”
Livre waited at the front desk for more than ten minutes. Angelica learned from the waiter that Klein Moretti had completed his divination and informed Livre with a smile:
"Madam, Mr. Moretti has finished his divination. You may go up to him now."
The waiter led Livre to a room filled with yellow crystal.
Livre gently knocked on the door, and after hearing a gentle "Come in," she went inside.
Klein was sitting behind a dark walnut wood table, wearing a well-tailored black trench coat, his fingertips lightly stroking a brass-rimmed crystal pendant, which gave him a somewhat mysterious air.
Upon seeing Livre, who was disguised as a beautiful woman, his eyes widened in surprise for a moment, before his expression returned to calm.
"Hello ma'am, how should I address you?"
A graceful smile played on Livre's lips as she slowly walked to the chair opposite Klein and sat down. Her hands, clad in black silk gloves, were gently folded in front of her chest, revealing glimpses of her fair skin beneath.
“Hello, Mr. Moretti. You may call me Mrs. Lemerson.”
As she spoke, she curled her tongue to activate her spiritual vision, but was momentarily stunned: Klein's astral body was a healthy color, but his eyes emitted a faint spiritual light, as if he was also using his spiritual vision to spy on her.
Has he already become an extraordinary being?
Livre was secretly surprised and decided to cause Klein a little trouble, so that he would reveal more information in his panic.
She lightly raised her finger, subtly activating the abilities of a sex addict, arousing Klein's desire in an extremely slight way—to the point that he would only feel uneasy, without causing too much intense stimulation.
In an instant, Klein felt a surge of heat. Mrs. Lemerson across from him possessed a peculiar charm; her black silk gloves drew his gaze, as if some invisible force compelled him to look at her a few more times.
He quickly adjusted his breathing, forced himself to calm down, and swiftly entered the normal divination process:
"Mrs. Lemerson, what do you wish to divine? And what method would you prefer?"
A charming smile appeared on Livr's face:
"You're a professional fortune teller, so you can decide the method of divination. As for what the divination is about..."
She lowered her eyes slightly, a perfectly timed hint of sorrow flashing across her brows:
“I have two close female friends. The three of us often go shopping, chat, or attend ladies' salons together, and we get along very well. But recently, I have gradually noticed something unusual. One of the ladies seems to treat me differently than before, and there is a hint of something beyond friendship. I am puzzled, so I would like to ask you to do a divination to see if her feelings for me are the special kind of affection I am thinking of.”
Upon hearing this, Klein's cheeks flushed slightly, clearly not expecting such a divination request. He composed himself briefly, then nodded and said:
"Very well, Mrs. Lemerson. Based on your description, I recommend astrology, which is best suited for exploring emotional bonds between people and can provide you with definitive answers."
Livr smiled and nodded:
As you said.
Klein took out a sheet of white paper and a pen and handed them to Livre, saying calmly and fluently:
"Write down your friend's name, physical characteristics, and date of birth. If you can remember the exact time, that would be even better."
Livre picked up her pen, dipped it in ink, hesitated for a moment, and then wrote down Fors's information.
Chapter 140 I killed the witch!
After she finished writing, she pushed the blank sheet of paper toward Klein.
Klein reached out and pressed down on the paper, adjusting its orientation to take in the information on it.
He glanced at it carefully for a while, then looked at Livre with his dark brown eyes and said gently:
"I'm about to begin drawing the corresponding natal chart. This will require some time and absolute quiet. Could you please go outside and wait for a while?"
"I promise I won't disturb your divination. May I observe from here?"
Livre spoke in a pleading tone, her beautiful face appearing pitiful, her words carrying an unspoken hint of instigation.
Klein's cheeks flushed, and a look of hesitation crossed his eyes:
"However, the process of divination must not be spied on..."
Livr simply smiled charmingly.
She reached into her collar, pulled out a black silk ribbon, blindfolded herself, and tied it behind her head.
"Are you satisfied now, Mr. Moretti?"
Klein was taken aback, then stammered somewhat embarrassedly:
"Alright, then please keep quiet and don't make a sound no matter what happens."
He sat in the chair and began to draw the event chart based on his birth date and time, including elements such as constellations, planets, and houses.
During this process, he hardly consulted the astrology manual lying to the side, completing the entire process purely from memory.
Livre watched all this quietly from the side. The ribbon, apart from adding a unique charm to her, did nothing to conceal her vision.
She watched Klein's actions, and a thought suddenly struck her:
He is extremely skilled in divination and has a strong talent for it. Could he be a "diviner"?
Livre continued watching in silence. Soon, based on the constellations, the houses the planets were in, and other supporting symbols, Klein drew a preliminary conclusion.
Then, out of a sense of responsibility to his first official customer, he decided to confirm it again using dream divination.
He picked up his pen again and wrote a line of Hermesian words heavily on the paper where Livre had written:
Fors Wall was in love with Mrs. Lemerson.
He silently repeated the sentence several times, then gripped the paper with both hands, leaned back in his chair, his eyes turned deep black, and he quickly entered a meditative state.
At this moment, Livr's gentle eyes turned cold.
She has confirmed that Klein has become an Extraordinary, and most likely through the Diviner pathway.
Klein became an Extraordinary in such a short time after joining the Night Watchers, which is highly unusual considering the official way Extraordinary people accumulate contributions to advance in rank. What are their motives? Do they want to use Klein to investigate that Fourth Epoch notebook?
Just then, Klein suddenly jumped up from his chair, looking at Livre across from him with a terrified expression, his brows furrowed, appearing extremely tense.
Although he returned to his normal expression the next second, Livre still keenly noticed Klein's emotional change.
